  • Oracle: Is there a way to get the column data types for a view?

    For a table in oracle, I can query "all_tab_columns" and get table column information, like the data type, precision, whether or not the column is nullable. In SQL Developer or TOAD, you can click on a view in the GUI and it will spit out a list of the columns that the view returns and the same set of data (data type, precision, nullable, etc). So my question is, is there a way to query this column definition for a view, the way you can for a table? How do the GUI tools do it?

    Hello, I am a seasoned Delphi developer and would like to create something like seamless terminal services where an application is executed on a server but appears on the the desktop of the client. To someone working on the server i don't want them to see the remote application running (except if they looked in at the list of running processes). Im lost as to how to go about this, where to start, how to get an application to render to a surface other than the servers desktop. Any suggestions would be most appreciated.

I am a developer but I am doing this as a favour to a friend and would rather grab something with modules in it (registration, events, calender, etc etc) already.     I am building a small web app for a pharmacy to keep track of sales and stocks, so in short, in one page, the pharmacist will enter a bar-code and the item is displayed, pharmacist enters quantity (price will be automatically calculated) then next item and next and so on, I haven't worked with such a problem before so I would appreciate any advices/tips on how to do it, what to use and wither its already done in some tidy neat way I can just import into my page. Am using ASP.net and VB.net, SQL 2008 and all express withing Visual Web Developer (also ExpresS)

  • Good practice : compare a value with a boolean?

    Most of the time, I prefer to write this : if(isWelcome() == true){} if(isWelcome() == false){} instead of this if(isWelcome()){} if(!isWelcome()){} Because I feel that it is easier to read (but I do understand that it doesn't make sense). I would like to know if there is a common agreement about this practice. What most developer do? And I'm wondering if the compiler is doing the extra comparaison, or if it understand that it is useless.

    Please, have a look at: http://twitter.github.com/bootstrap/base-css.html There are many examples like this one: if you look closer to the block borders, you can see that the gray block is under the white one. Using the browser's developer tools you can see that both boxes have an inherited z-index: auto; I can't reproduce this effect on my website (without using z-index). So, my question is: Why is the gray block under the white one?

    I have an ASP.NET MVC site that uses both Microsoft Ajax [Ajax.BeginForm()] and jQuery to make asynchronous requests. I want to configure both frameworks such that a generic error handler is automatically attached if the developer does not explicitly specify a failure callback. In jQuery I can accomplish this with either .ajaxSetup() or .ajaxError(). What is the equivalent in the Microsoft Ajax client library? I'm fairly sure it's something in the Sys object but I can't find it...

We decided to use another statistics plugin which can connect to a different database server (the first plugin couldn't!) however we need parts of the first plugin. I want to lock the statistics table to prevent misusage (not allowed to drop it by the developer) So I was wondering if a lock table could do this or if I can implement some sort of read only table

    Ok so I want to conditionally add this line of code; <!--[if ! IE]> <embed src="logo.svg" type="image/svg+xml" /> <![endif]--> Using: document.getElementById("logo") .innerHTML='...'; In a if()/else() statement and it don't write it! If i get rid of the selective comment ( <!--[if ! IE]><![endif]-->) and only put the SVG ( <embed src="logo.svg" type="image/svg+xml" /> ) it work! what should I do?
