I am looking for a Los Angeles based iPhone developer that would be willing to help tutor me on memory management and run down some code. Will pay for your time.
Thanks,
Sam
I am wondering if you can officially receive SMS messages in your app (and remove the default SMS app). I believe it can be done on Android, I just wonder if this is possible on iPhone OS.
While there are multiple ways to reverse bit order in a byte, I'm curious as to what is the "simplest" for a developer to implement. And by reversing I mean:
1110 -> 0111
0010 -> 0100
This is similar to, but not a duplicate of this PHP question.
Hello,
I am newbie to jQuery, just trying to learn it since last couple of days. In my office, there are few experience JavaScript Developer and they work mainly with jQuery for all their needs and whenever I got and talk to them to get some better understanding of how jQuery works and first they say is that on $(document).(ready) you do this and on $(document).(ready) you do that.
So my main question is What is the $(document).(ready) and how does it really works ?
Any inputs would be highly appreciated.
Hello,
I am a seasoned Delphi developer and would like to create something like seamless terminal services where an application is executed on a server but appears on the the desktop of the client.
To someone working on the server i don't want them to see the remote application running (except if they looked in at the list of running processes).
Im lost as to how to go about this, where to start, how to get an application to render to a surface other than the servers desktop.
Any suggestions would be most appreciated.
Are we reduced to ClickOnce to manage our application state for our users? We use Visual Patch currently. When our users update (we reproduced this) we get errors from the updated versions to our compiled versions. Since our developer state is not 'updated' with Visual Patch how can we monitor and eventual squash the various System.MethodNotFound, and System.NullReferenceException in our updated versions of our application?
So as a developer I am seeking to improve not only my coding skills but my design and management skills. Because of this I'm starting to pay more attention to software engineering practices but i'm not sure where agile development fits into the picture. I can appreciate agility in projects but I wonder whether this conflicts with the traditional ways of software engineering practices and research.
I am looking for a way to add a post-commit or pre-commit hook to my VCS that will allow me to both create and close a trac ticket in one go.
The use-case is for when a bug has been found, and corrected, but a single developer who wants to make sure the project manager can see the fix has been done, when it was done and what milestone the fix has been done in.
We have a default milestone in trac when creating a ticket, so reflecting that information would be good too.
you have a class A, where you set ctor to be private, so a client can't call
"A a;"
to create obj on stack.
But someday another developer add a new ctor:
"A(int)"
and try to call "A a(1);" inside main(). So this will create a obj on stack. How do you prevent that?
Hello,
We have a CMS plugin that writes statistics to 1 table, this creates performance issues on the entire platform. We decided to use another statistics plugin which can connect to a different database server (the first plugin couldn't!) however we need parts of the first plugin.
I want to lock the statistics table to prevent misusage (not allowed to drop it by the developer) So I was wondering if a lock table could do this or if I can implement some sort of read only table
Is anyone attempting to implement C# for the JVM? As a Java developer, I've been eyeing C# with envy, but am unwilling to give up the portability and maturity of the JVM, not to mention the diverse range of tools for it.
I know there are some important differences between the JVM and CLR but is there anything that is a showstopper?
What book do you recommend on software development methodologies (or on a specific methodology) that good for project managers? So I'm looking for a book that overviews methodologies from the aspect of a PM not a developer.
I am simply wondering whether it is best to put all of my Eclipse projects into one workspace, or do a 1 workspace per 1 project. I am just a solo developer, for hobby more or less, but the apps I create do actually have production versions that are running on rather frequent cron jobs, so its almost like an amateur production environment.
The only problems I have noticed so far is for exporting JARs, I have the potential to include source files from other projects which seems like it could get messy (maybe?).
What is the equivalent of YUI 3's Y.Array in jQuery?
Y.Array() takes array like inputs and converts them into array. More info at http://developer.yahoo.com/yui/3/api/yui-array.js.html

What is a standardized alternative to window.location.href function? I was checking on w3schools.com that it is implemented in all major browsers so there's no problem but I'm rather curious how to do that properly.
From here is the statement that the function is not standardized: https://developer.mozilla.org/en/DOM/window.location
Thanks!
Why do browser vendors make their own
css properties, even they know these
will not pass the w3c validation?
What is the purpose? Is for their own
testing, or for web developers, or to
demonstrate browser capabilities
to the world and to the W3C organizations
and to CSS development team of W3C?
is it like a beta version of
demonstration?
if i use any browser specific for now
can they remove that property's
support from future versions.will i have to edit my css in future
For example:

So I've spent a lot of time making an iPhone game and have recently realized that I don't have to limit myself to just Apple - I know there are app stores for Palm and Android, but does anybody know of a good "app store" for the plain old PC? I would like to have one where individual developers can publish an app and not have to worry about all the billing and piracy issues!
I am setting up a web site for a football club and I am wondering which CMS to use.
I am a developer but I am doing this as a favour to a friend and would rather grab something with modules in it (registration, events, calender, etc etc) already. I need to be able to customise it but I had a look around and Wordpress looks like a blogging tool. I am wondering if anyone has experience with the above or any others and if shed some light. Thanks
For a table in oracle, I can query "all_tab_columns" and get table column information, like the data type, precision, whether or not the column is nullable.
In SQL Developer or TOAD, you can click on a view in the GUI and it will spit out a list of the columns that the view returns and the same set of data (data type, precision, nullable, etc).
So my question is, is there a way to query this column definition for a view, the way you can for a table? How do the GUI tools do it?
Hi,
since moving to Windows 7 (IIS 7.5), the debug assertions do not prompt a pop up dialog anymore.
I have tested this in a separate project, and noticed that they do work when using the integrated Visual Studio Developer server (Cassini) but they do not work when using IIS Web Server.
This is a big issue for us since we are counting on debug assertions to identify potential programming errors, so any help would be appreciated.
Thanks. Eyal.
Hi,
I'm been developing Ruby on Rails previously. I'm now looking at an ASP.net web app and I'm looking at WebForms and MVC. As I look at MVC it feels as if I'm looking at the result of something a Ruby on Rails developer implemented after being forced to work in MS land. So I'm wondering:
Was MVC more or less taken directly from Ruby on Rails and it's concepts? (either intentionally or unintentionally)
First off these questions are related but do not fix my problem:

I have installed Visual Studio Web Developer Express Edition 2010, then I installed MVC 2. Now I can successfully run a MVC 2 application, however I have to do the manual imports of the namespaces and stuff.
How can I install the templates?
