  • How do I display alternate languages in Interface Builder? (Xcode5)

    The iOS project is using Base Localization with localizable strings set up for the Storyboard in English and German. Everything is working properly when I change the language for the simulator, but some of the text is getting truncated in German. I would like to view the German text in Interface builder so that it's easier to fix the constraints on the text labels and fields. It seems like this should just be a view setting or something, but I can't seem to find anything obvious.

    Scala has symbols - names that start with a single quote ' and which are a kind of string constants. I know symbols from Ruby (where they start with a colon). In Ruby they are used for some meta-programming tasks, like generating getters and setters for member variables (for example attr_reader :name to generate a getter for name). I haven't seen a lot of use of symbols in Scala code yet. What are practical uses for symbols in Scala?

  • joining relative urls?

    So i want to join strings with relative urls in Javascript. base url = "http://www.adress.com/more/evenmore" with relative url = "../../adress" = "http://www.adress.com/adress" relative url = "../adress" = "http://www.adress.com/more/adress" What would be the best way? I was thinking of using regexp and checking how many "../" i find, then subtracting that amount from the baseurl and adding them to what is left.

  • Using C# with Crystal Reports, How Can I Create 4-Up Subreports?

    The simplest example that I can provide for what I want to do is this: I need to create a Report, whose only requirement is that I have (4) of the same subreport on the page (imagine 4 portrait-oriented post cards on a page), each quadrant using a separate row from my datatable, yet all 4 are identical in terms of fields. If there are more than 4, it needs to carry over to a new page with the same format. I'm using C# and the built-in Crystal Reports Basic for the task.

    I've built basic shopping carts with PHP before but in an attempt to get my feet wet with OOP, I'd like to try using that method. I come from a design background but do understand some basics of OOP but would like to see a tutorial or something simple I could base this on. The site is small and the cart functionality required is very standard.     What are the dangerous characters that should be replaced in user input when the users' input will be inserted in a MySQL query? I know about quotes, double quotes, \r and \n. Are there others?(I don't have the option of using a smart connector that accepts parameters so I have to build the query myself and this will be implemented in multiple programming languages, including some obscure ones so solutions such as mysql_real_escape_string in PHP are not valid)

    I'm completely new to programming and I'm trying to build an autorespoder to send a msg to a specific email address. Using an if statement, I can check if there is an email from a certain address in the inbox and I can send an email, but if there are multiple emails from that address, how can I make a for loop to send an email for every email from that specific address. I tried to do use this as a loop: for M.search(None, 'From', address) in M.select(): but I get the error: "can't assign to function call" on that line

    Programming challenge: Given a set of integers [1, 2, 3, 4, 5] I would like to generate all possible k-combinations in ascending size order in Java; e.g. [1], [2], [3], [4], [5], [1, 2], [1, 3] ... [1, 2, 3, 4, 5] It is fairly easy to produce a recursive solution that generates all combinations and then sort them afterwards but I imagine there's a more efficient way that removes the need for the additional sort.
