  • Can headers be sent in an AJAX request?

    Can I call the server to set a new cookie with an AJAX request (that is, after the page has already loaded)? For example, when a visitor hits a link, ajax would open a php file that sets a new cookie like this: setcookie('cookiename', 'true', time()+3000, "/",'...'); But this is done after the html (the page containing the actual <a> tag pressed) was rendered. Is it nevertheless ok to set cookies in ajax? (maybe because the php file loaded is separate from the original html page).

  • Errors with large data sources

    I'm doing some benchmarking on large data sources and binding/exporting data for reporting. I started with using a data set, filling it with 100000 rows and then attempting to open a crystal report with the retrieved data. I noticed that the data set filled just fine (took about 779 milliseconds) however, when attempting to export the data to the report or even bind to a gridview the application would fail with an OutOfMemoryException. Does anyone experienced this before or have an idea of how to get around it? It is very possible that clients will run reports for years worth of data and 100000 rows are not inconceivable. The application and the benchmark code are written in C# using ORACLE and SQL Server databases. I still have some data sources to test, but would like to know how to get around this just in case I don't find a better solution.

  • SQL Server 2008 EF 4 - limiting database records returned using permissions?

    In our database all tables are linked back to a single table. This table has a bit column to limit whether the record is displayed. Currently the records are filtered on the code side of the website. Is there any way to set up permission so that userA would never see any record in the database where that common bit column was set to true? We are using SQL Server 2008. Alternatively we are also using entity framework 4.0 in .net 4 (in c#) if you have any ideas how it might be accomplished there? Thanks for your feedback.

  • Rendering problem with UITableview

    I have a very strange problem with a UITableview within a navigation controller on the iPhone simulator. Of the cells displayed, only some are correctly rendered. They are all supposed to look the same but the majority are missing the accessory I've set, scrolling the view changes which cell has the accessory so I suspect it's some sort of cell caching happening, although the contents are correct for each cell. I also set an image as the background and that was also only displaying sporadically but I fixed that by changing cell.backgroundView = [[UIImageView alloc] initWithImage:[UIImage imageNamed:@"yellow-bar_short.png"]]; (which also only rendered a random cell with the background) to cell.backgroundColor = [[UIColor alloc] initWithPatternImage:[UIImage imageNamed:@"yellow-bar_short.png"]]; I now need to fix the problem with the accessory only showing on a random cell. I tried moving the code from cellForRowAtIndex to willDisplayCell but it made no difference. I put in a log command to confirm that it is running through each frame. Basically it's a table view (UITableViewCellStyleSubtitle) that gets its info from a server & is then updated by a delegate method calling reload.   • Basic Hibernate question using and sql query

    Hello Sorry if this is basic but I cannot find the solution anywhere. I have an java Object ‘Person’ with 3 properties firstname,lastname and username. I have an Oracle Store procedure returning a Resultset with the 3 column. All works fine for that. Now I have another StoreProcedure that will only return firstname and lastname but not username. I get the following error : « could not read column value from result set username. » Hibernate tries to fetch the username property from the resultset. If I remove the property username, then it works. Do I have to Create a Special Pojo for Each type of resultset or can I tell Hibernate what to map for each result set? Please help.

  • TFS 2008 ignores team project check-in settings

    I'm trying to set up our TFS 2008 instance to require that projects build before they can be checked in. I have created a check-in policy using the out of the box "Builds" policy, but I'm still able to check broken projects in after mangling the code and attempting to build the project. We're a small shop, and TFS was originally set up with our team's Active Directory group listed as TFS admins. Is this the problem? Do check-in policies apply to TFS admins? Any other suggestions?

  • wxWidgets - Add items to sizer via DLL

    I have a GUI set up with wxWidgets (C++, MSVC) and part of the functionality is to add elements to the GUI via DLL's. Essentially, I would be passing in a sizer to the DLL which will in turn add the elements based on what is in the DLL. Could someone just point me in the right direction on how to get the DLL set up? I have looked, but don't see anything that's similar to what I'm looking for. The programming of the elements is fine with me, I just need to understand how to structure the DLL programming. Help appreciated.

This seems to contradict the Django documentation: Field.default The default value for the field. This can be a value or a callable object. If callable it will be called every time a new object is created. Am I doing something wrong? Update: Originally, I had this, but then I switched to the above version to debug: _applies_to = models.TextField(db_index=True, default=cPickle.dumps(set())) I'm not sure why that wouldn't work.

  • Efficient bitshifting an array of int?

    Hi, To be on the same page, let's assume sizeof(int)=4 and sizeof(long)=8. Given an array of integers, what would be an efficient method to bitshift the array to either the left or right? I am contemplating an auxiliary variable such as a long, that will compute the bitshift for the first pair of elements (index 0 and 1) and set the first element (0). Continuing in this fashion the bitshift for elements (index 1 and 2) will be computer, and then index 1 will be set. I think this is actually a fairly efficient method, but there are drawbacks. I cannot bitshift greater than 32 bits. I think using multiple auxiliary variables would work, but I'm envisioning recursion somewhere along the line.

    I am working on a small bit of script that will allow for easy and flexible creation of buttons. My buttons are made of three parts, a left, a right and a streched middle piece. There are three different sizes and three different colours of each. I have written the code that resizes the button to fit the text. Now I am looking to add the ability to easily set the colour and size. I was thinking of using three classes something like <div class="button blue big"> My script already loops through the button classes using each. Now I need to find out what other classes are set and adjust the pictures and dimentions used to fit. So how can I find out what other class selectors an element has? Also I am fairly new to jquery/javascript so I am wondering if storing the design as class selectors is the best way.

Could I use an interface? interface functionWithProperty { (): any; prop: string; } This seems to be a valid interface in TypeScript, but how do I implement this interface such that the TypeScript compiler checks that prop is set? I saw this example: var f : functionWithProperty = (() => { var _f : any = function () { }; _f.prop = "blah"; return _f; }()); But this doesn't work because I can remove _f.prop = "blah"; and everything will still compile. I need to enforce that prop is set.

    In my project I have it set up so that all the tables in the DB has the property "id" and then I have the entity objects inherit from the EntityBase class using a repository pattern. I then set the inheritance modifier for "id" property in the dbml file o/r designer to "overrides" Public MustInherit Class EntityBase MustOverride Property id() As Integer End Class Public MustInherit Class RepositoryBase(Of T As EntityBase) Protected _Db As New DataClasses1DataContext Public Function GetById(ByVal Id As Integer) As T Return (From a In _Db.GetTable(Of T)() Where a.id = Id).SingleOrDefault End Function End Class Partial Public Class Entity1 Inherits EntityBase End Class Public Class TestRepository Inherits RepositoryBase(Of Entity1) End Class the line Return (From a In _Db.GetTable(Of T)() Where a.id = Id).SingleOrDefault however produces the error "Class member EntityBase.id is unmapped" when i use VS 2010 using the 4.0 framework but I never received that error with the old one.   • How do I make a GUI that behaves like this?

    This is difficult to explain without illustration, so - behold, an illustration, cobbled together from screenshots of a few hello-world examples and a lot of Paint work: I have started out using Windows Forms on .NET (via IronPython, but that shouldn't be important), and haven't been able to figure out very much. GUI libraries in general are very intimidating, simply because every class has so many possible attributes. Documentation is good at explaining what everything does, but not so good at helping you figure out what you need. I will be assembling the GUI dynamically, but I'm not expecting that to be the hard part. The sticking points for me right now are: How do I get text labels to size themselves automatically to the width of the contained text (so that the text doesn't clip, and I also don't reserve unnecessary space for them when resizing the window)? How do I make the vertical scrollbar always appear? Setting the VScroll property (why is this protected when AutoScroll is public, BTW?) doesn't seem to do anything. How come the horizontal scrollbar is not added by AutoScroll when contents are laid out vertically (via Dock = DockStyle.Top)? I can use a minimum size for panels to prevent the label and corresponding control from overlapping when the window is shrunk horizontally, but then the scrollbar doesn't appear and the control is inaccessible. How can I put limits on window resizing (e.g. set a minimum width) without disabling it completely? (Just set minimum/maximum sizes for the Form?) Related to that, is there any way to set minimum/maximum widths or heights without setting a minimum/maximum size (i.e. can I constrain the size in only one dimension)? Is there a built-in control suitable for hex editing or am I going to have to build something myself? ... And should I be using something else (perhaps something more capable?) I've heard WPF mentioned, but I understand that this involves XML and I really want to build a GUI from XML - I already have data in an object graph, and doing some kind of weird XML pseudo-serialization (in Python, no less!) in order to create a GUI seems incredibly roundabout.

I'd like to specify the color by a hex code string, like "#FF8C00". How can I do this? Also, how can I set the color of 0-valued elements for pcolor?

    I have a Backbone collection whose URL depends on the initialize function. When I create an instance of this Backbone collection, I pass in an ID to filter which instances of the model appear. Can anyone tell me if I'm approaching this wrongly, or if there's a way around this?

I have no problem doing this with one row which involves the use of IDENT_CURRENT but I have no idea how to do this set based (i.e. enter several rows into both tables). Thanks.   • Linux shell to restrict sftp users to their home directories?

    I need to give SFTP access to a directory within my webroot on my server. I've set up ben_files as a user and have set his/her home directory to /var/www/vhosts/mydomain.com/files That's all fine if he/she connects with plain old FTP - he's/she's restricted just to that directory, but to enable SFTP I had to add him/her to bin/bash shell, which suddenly opens up my entire server... Is there a way of giving him/her SFTP access but without opening up all my directories? I'd really like him restricted to only his/her home ;)
