  • Spring transaction management breaks hibernate cascade

  • C#: Making sure parameter has attribute

    I have an attribute lets call it SomeAttribute and a class i need to make sure the class is passed a type which has SomeAttribute. So this is how i do it now: public class Test() { public Test(SomeType obj) { if(!obj.GetType().IsDefined(typeof(SomeAttribute), false)) { throw new ArgumentException("Errormessage"); } } } But this means that i don't get any errors at compile time but somewhere at runtime, if obj does not have the attribute. Is there a way to specify in the method declaration that the parameter must have some attribute ? So i get errors i compile time when using the wrong parameters.

    I can't figure out how to call a base class method from a derived class method but concurrently applying this method call at an object passed as argument.   • Datagrid selects the wrong custom cell in my datagrid...

    Hi everybody, I am working on a problem since a week soon, but I still couldn't make it work as expected. I have a DataGrid which has HBox with a CheckBox an a Label as itemRenderer (see Code below). When I tap in to the Cell the standard itemEditor pops up and lets you enter the content of the label. Thats the standard behavior. I works fine except for 2 problems: If I enter to much text, the horizontal srollbar pops up, and the cell is filled with that scrollbar. As you see I tried to set the horizontalScrollPolicy to off, but that doesnt work at all... I tried to do that for all the different elements, but the failure is still existent. When I have filled more than one row, there is an other mistake happening. If I tap on a row, the datagrid selects the one below that row. That's only if one line is already selected. If I tap outside the datagrid and then, tap at any row the itemEditor of the right row will show up...   • Are there any nasty side affects if i lock the HttpContext.Current.Cache.Insert method

    Apart from blocking other threads reading from the cache what other problems should I be thinking about when locking the cache insert method for a public facing website. The actual data retrieval and insert into the cache should take no more than 1 second, which we can live with. More importantly i don't want multiple thread potentially all hitting the Insert method at the same time.     I've read several questions here concerning Tomcat and logging but I still really don't understand the "bigger picture", hence my question: How and where are my Webapps supposed to do their logging? By default on my setup Tomcat 6.0.20 logs go in the following file/appender: ./apache-tomcat-6.0.20/logs/catalina.out Am I suppose to have my webapps also log to this file/appender? Let say my case is trivially simple and I've got just one servlet: import ... // What do I import here in order to be able to log? public class SOServlet extends HttpServlet { public void doGet( final HttpServletRequest request, final HttpServletResponse response ) throws IOException, ServletException { ... // I want to log here, what do I write?     In Scala I would write an abstract class with an abstract attribute path: abstract class Base { val path: String } class Sub extends Base { override val path = "/demo/" } Java doesn't know abstract attributes and I wonder what would be the best way to work around this limitation. My ideas: a) constructor parameter abstract class Base { protected String path; protected Base(String path) { this.path = path; } } class Sub extends Base { public Sub() { super("/demo/"); } } b) abstract method abstract class Base { // could be an interface too abstract String getPath(); } class Sub extends Base { public String getPath() { return "/demo/"; } } Which one do you like better? Other ideas? I tend to use the constructor since the path value should not be computed at runtime.

    I'm using GwtUpload to upload images on GAE. The problem is that the images seem to get much bigger when I move them into a blob. I've noticed the same for simple text fields and in that case I've realised that some weirdo characters are being appended to the end of the field values (encoding right?).     Can you cast an object to one that implements an interface? Right now, I'm building a GUI, and I don't want to rewrite the Confirm/Cancel code (A confirmation pop-up) over and over again. So, what I'm trying to do is write a class that gets passed the class it's used in and tells the class whether or not the user pressed Confirm or Cancel. The class always implements a certain interface.     I have created an annotation, applied it to a DTO and written a Java 1.6 style annotationProcessor. I can see how to have the annotationProcessor write a new source file, which isn't what I want to do, I cannot see or find out how to have it modify the existing class (ideally just modify the byte code). The modification is actually fairly trivial, all I want the processor to do is to insert a new getter and setter where the name comes from the value of the annotation being processed.     Hi all, Currently, i have a class MyAdmin(admin.ModelAdmin), and i have a field in there called name, which belongs to both list_editable and list_display. The current behavior is such that all fields that is in list_editable displays a form field. However, i would like to change that only when people click on the field would it turn into a editable form field.
