• How to Prevent SelectionChange a Silverlight DataGrid

  I'm using a Silverlight 3 DataGrid control and have set the SelectionMode to Extended. The DataGrid takes care of managing the extended selection for me in an almost perfect manner out of the box, but a key piece of the logic is interfering with me. I have a cell that can function as a drag and drop thumb and initiate a drag operation but users want to do a series of shift or control clicks to set a selection followed by a click and drag on one of the selected rows to initiate the drag. The problem is that the click and drag at the end of this series causes the selection to be set to only the row that was clicked. I've poked around for ways of conditionally preventing the DataGrid from changing selection, but can't seem to find anything that works. Does anyone have any ideas for preventing selection from changing?

• Tiny, very-basic outgoing MTA?

  I am looking for a very tiny Mail-Transfer-Agent (MTA) for my smaller VPS which only need to send emails for new accounts or notifications. Originally, I used PHP sockets and wrote a 4kb STMP class to connect to google SMTP and send the emails - but I would like to be free of the 500 emails a day (or whatever) limit they have. On larger VPS I can run Postfix - but it takes about 50MB which makes it too big for a 128/256MB VPS. So are there any very tiny MTA's out there - or is there a rundown of the protocol of sending email (I guess it works by forwarding the mail through other servers till it reaches the correct end mail server right?) so I could build a smaller bash or PHP script for this outgoing stuff?

• Cannot change font size in Tk

  Hello, I'm trying, for the first time, to create a GUI in Ruby using Tk. I've copied a code snippet from one of the numerous web tutorials and try to change the font for one of the labels, but nothing seems to affect how the text is presented. Here's the code: require 'tk' root = TkRoot.new('title'=>'MCIS') defaultFont = TkFont.new("weight"=>'bold', "size"=>20) Lbl = TkLabel.new(root) do text "Boooo" borderwidth 5 font defaultFont foreground "red" relief "groove" grid('column'=>3, 'row'=>0) end Tk.mainloop() I see the effects of all the parameters of the label but not the font. I've tried to change the size, the weight, give different family names, leave just one parameter; nothing works - the font stays default as it was. Surprisingly it doesn't report any errors, everything looks fine. Maybe it's versions problem? I run these: Linux Centos 5 Tk 8.4.13 Ruby 1.8.5 ruby-tcltk 1.8.5 Also, don't know if it is important, I ran it via Xming from WinXP machine.

• C# Social Networking SDK

  I am currently gathering some technology requirements for a site that will be a social network based. I don't want to re-invent the wheel so i am looking for some type of SDK or collection of tools that can provide me with a way of creating/managing a social network. I understand that no framework will probably fit my exact needs so I am also looking for a flexible/extendable framework. An example extension point would be allowing the user to provide sub networks, maybe a global network that could be sub classified as work and friends. Beyond that it would also be nice to somehow be able to import contacts from other networking sites (Facebook, Linked In, etc). My current technology suite will consist of the following: IIS 7.0 WCF Data Services SQL Server 2006 ASP.NET front end. If there is any more information you may need please let me know.

  Hi, In the Unity PerThreadLifetimeManager documentation, I read that: "This lifetime manager does not dispose the instances it holds". Ref.: http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ff647854.aspx So, if I am using a ThreadPool, does it mean that objects resolved using Unity on a Thread of the ThreadPool will not get disposed at the end of the work done in that thread before being returned to the pool? Any pattern or ideas how I can ensure that the objects do get disposed & I get a clean thread from the thread pool? Thanks!

• Remove all html tags from attributes in rails

  I have a Project model and it has some text attributes, one is summary. I have some projects that have html tags in the summary and I want to convert that to plain text. I have this method that has a regex that will remove all html tags. def strip_html_comments_on_data self.attributes.each{|key,value| value.to_s.gsub!(/(<[^>]+>|&nbsp;|\r|\n)/,"")} end I also have a before_save filter before_save :strip_html_comments_on_data The problem is that the html tags are still there after saving the project.   Hi, I'm trying to pick up Svn.NET (http://www.pumacode.org/projects/svndotnet/) library for use in my Mono project. I tried compiling its mockapp - svnmockapp project (http://www.pumacode.org/projects/svndotnet/browser/trunk/SvnMockApp) , I am able to get the references right and get it compiled right. I understand that it references 2 other modules libapr (libapr-1.so.0) and svn_client (libsvn_client-1.so.0) , by which I've created PumaCode.SvnDotNet.dll.config in /bin/Debug . That is all I've done to tried to try to get the mockapp at least outputting something to show that it is indeed interfacing SVN. Nevertheless, it is not working.   So I bit into the hype and recently purchased an apple wireless keyboard and that evil bar-of-soap thing apple makes for a mouse. Couple of hundred dollars later and this is where I begin to worry about RSI. Go figure. Don't get me wrong, this apple mouse is genius and looks pretty as hell, but my right wrist feels tired after a full day's worth of work, so i'm thinking of switching. Anyone out there use a trackball? is this worse? should I get a super-ergonomic mouse instead? I've seen mouse-trackball combos but am not sold, they still elicit the same end-finger behaviour detrimental for RSI, right? I also have a wrist-rest mousepad, but couldn't find one suitable for my keyboard. I've even considered having a small touchscreen where the mousepad should go, no mouse (or alternatively, a usb trackpad). Just looking for ideas, is the trackball better than the mouse? /mp

  I have a Django application in which I want to change a field from a ForeignKey to a ManyToManyField. I want to preserve my old data. What is the simplest/best process to follow for this? If it matters, I use sqlite3 as my database back-end. If my summary of the problem isn't clear, here is an example. Say I have two models: class Author(models.Model): author = models.CharField(max_length=100) class Book(models.Model): author = models.ForeignKey(Author) title = models.CharField(max_length=100) Say I have a lot of data in my database. • Generate POCO classes in different project to the project with Entity Framework model

  I'm trying to use the Repository Pattern with EF4 using VS2010. To this end I am using POCO code generation by right clicking on the entity model designer and clicking Add code generation item. I then select the POCO template and get my classes. What I would like to be able to do is have my solution structured into separate projects for Entity (POCO) classes and another project for the entity model and repository code. This means that my MVC project could use the POCO classes for strongly typed views etc and not have to know about the repository or have to have a reference to it. To plug it all together I will have another separate project with interfaces and use IoC. Sounds good in my head I just don't know how to generate the classes into their own project! I can copy them and then change the namespaces on them but I wanted to avoid manual work whenever I change the schema in the db and want to update my model. Thanks

  What's the best way to handle having two templates (or should it be one, DRY?) for xml builder templates? I'm building a web api with Rails and wanted to see an example of how to have a view that does regular output vs one that does error output.   I am having a problem with my code. I am using VB.NET and Visual Studio 2010 to write my program. The source of the control that I am using can be found here. First, I imported the Calendar.DayView.dll file into my toolbox to use as a control. Then I added the following code to my existing code: Private Sub DayView1_NewAppointment(ByVal sender As System.Object, ByVal args As Calendar.NewAppointmentEventArgs) Dim appointment As New Calendar.Appointment() appointment.StartDate = args.StartDate appointment.EndDate = args.EndDate appointment.Title = args.Title appointments.Add(appointment) End Sub I get this error 'Title' is not a member of 'Calendar.Appointment'. I have no access to the Calendar namespace or the Appointment class. I am able to view the properties of both in the Object Browser but I can't edit any of them. Any suggestions?

• PHP stream_context_set_option SSL certificate as string

  I've got a weird issue. Basically, I need to do this: $handle = stream_context_create(); stream_context_set_option($handle , 'ssl', 'local_cert', '/tmp/cert'); However. The certificate is not held as a file within the server. Rather it's an encrypted string held in a clustered database environment. So instead of the certificate being a file name pointer, its the physical content of the certificate. So instead of using the file name, I need to specify the content of the certificate instead. For example: $cert = '-----BEGIN CERTIFICATE-----.... upWbwmdMd61SjNCdtOpZcNW3YmzuT96Fr7GUPiDQ -----END CERTIFICATE-----'; Does anyone have any idea whatsoever how on earth I can do this? I'm scratching my head over this problem, but my gut instinct says it is doable. Thanks in advance everyone!
