• Video encoding by servlet with MEncoder

  Hello. I was developing an application for video encoding on the server and got a problem with encoding video with MEncoder. This decoder doesn't work correctly when runned by a command line with Runtime.getRuntime().exec(“D:\mencoder\mnc\mencoder.exe video1.avi -o outvideo1.flv -of lavf -oac mp3lame -lameopts abr:br=64 -srate 22050 -ovc lavc -lavcopts vcodec=flv:vbitrate=300:mbd=2:mv0:trell:v4mv:cbp:last_pred=3 -vf scale=320:240,harddup -quiet”) ; The decoder launches and works in windows console with my parameters, but when it's run from a servlet it just hangs in process list and doesn't do anything before the web-server is stopped. When trying to use decoder from a simple java applcation, it runs correctly. Thanks for help.

• Hide other domains' menus from node edit form on a Drupal site using domain access

  I'm in the process of making some improvements to a live Drupal site that's using the Domain Access module to run a number of microsites. I'm trying to find a way of restricting the menus a user can post content to from the node edit screen. A user on one of the domains should only be able to post content to menus associated with that domain. Is there a simple way of achieving this? I'm guessing there are some hooks I could use, but so far I have been unable to identify them. I'd prefer not to have to install further modules to achieve this and to be able to add some code to the current site to alter the forms. The site is struggling with the large number of modules we've had to install on it already.

• Examining C/C++ Heap memory statistics in gdb

  I'm trying to investigate the state of the C/C++ heap from within gdb on Linux amd64, is there a nice way to do this? One approach I've tried is to "call mallinfo()" but unfortunately I can't then extract the values I want since gdb deal with the return value properly. I'm not easily able to write a function to be compiled into the binary for the process I am attached to, so I can simply implement my own function to extract the values by calling mallinfo() in my own code this way. Is there perhaps a clever trick that will allow me to do this on-the-fly? Another option could be to locate the heap and traverse the malloc headers / free list; I'd appreciate any pointers to where I could start in finding the location and layout of these. I've been trying to Google and read around the problem for about 2 hours and I've learnt some fascinating stuff but still not found what I need.

  Hello, I am having trouble uploading a file through php. I check the file type at the beginning of the process and I get an error. This is the error I am getting: Warning: Illegal offset type in /balblabla/DBfunctions.inc.php on line 183 This is the printed out $_FILES var Array ( [Picture] = Array ( [name] = JPG.jpg [type] = image/jpeg [tmp_name] = /tmp/phpHlrNY8 [error] = 0 [size] = 192221 ) ) Here is the segment of code I am using that is giving me issues: function checkFile($file, $type) { if( in_array($_FILES[$file]['type'], $type) ){ // <--- LINE 183 return true; }//if return false; } // end checkFile() This is the line of code that calls the function if( checkFile( $_FILES['Picture'], array("image/jpeg") ) == true ){ //do stuff }// end if I have used this piece of code on dozens of websites on my own server so i am guessing that this is some different configuration option. • Incremental Compilation in Eclipse. ASTNode-s and SVN versioning

  Hi there, I am building up some statistics after analyzing the source code in eclipse. But the overall process is too slow because i rebuild my model every time from scratch after each compilation. I am looking for a way to get only the changed parts of the code (as ASTNodes) and to rebuild just that part of my model. I suppose that even the changed compilation units and not the exact code elements would be enough after the user compiles and still would be a nice optimization. I am sure eclipse is capable of knowing what code elements are changed (and even to know their semantics), because when I use the subclipse plugin my changes are ordered by a code element (an import, a method, a variable declaration, etc). Well.. at least that plugin is capable of knowing that info. Thanks in advance

• Workaround for PHP SOAP request failure when wsdl defines service port binding as https and port 80?

  I am consuming a SOAP web service using php5's soap extension. The service' wsdl was generated using Axis java2wsdl, and whatever options are used during generation result in the port binding url being listed as https://xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx**:80** If I download the wsdl to my server, remove the port 80 specification from the port binding location value, and reference the local file in my soapclient call it works fine. However, if I try to reference it remotely (or download it and reference it locally, as-is) the call fails with a soap fault. I have no input into the service side so I can't make them change their wsdl-generation process. So, unless there's a way to make the soapclient ignorant of the port, I'm stuck with using a locally modified copy of someone else' wsdl (which I'd rather not do). Any thoughts on how to make my soapclient ignore the port 80?

• How can I compile an autotools project with statically linked dependancies?

  There's an open source library I want to use. As I want to spread my software as binary package, I do not want the library to have dependancies on other libraries, so I need to link the dependancies statically. Now as the library is open source and there are no binaries provided, I compile it myself. The library uses autotools, and I didn't find any useful documentation on how to link dependancies statically. What I did try is to call the configure script with --enable-static, but this apparently only tells configure to compile a static version of the library - but what I need is a dynamic library that includes all the libraries it depends on. So, I need a way to either tell configure to link against dependancies statically, or a way to post-process the built library to include all dependancies. Can anyone tell me how to do this? Oh, and if it matters: I'm on 64bit Snow Leopard.

  Simple task: Send a windows message with dynamically allocated data, e.g. an arbitrary length string. How would you manage the responsibility to free this data? The receiver(s) of the windows message could be responsible to free this data. But: How can you guarantee that all messages will actually be received and thus the linked data will be freed? Imagine the situation that the receiver is shutting down, so it won't process it's message queue any more. However, the message queue still exists (for some time) and can still accept messages, which won't be processed any more. Thanks!

• Standardizing camera input in OpenCV? (Contrast/Saturation/Brightness etc..)

  I am building an application using OpenCV that uses the webcam and runs some vision algorithms. I would like to make this application available on the internet after I am done, but I am concerned about the vast differences in camera settings on every computer, and I am worried that the algorithm may break if the settings are too different from mine. Is there any way, after capturing the frame, to post process it and make sure that the contrast is X, brightness is Y, and saturation is Z? I think the Camera settings themselves can not be changed from code directly using the current OpenCV Python bindings. Would anyone be able to tell me about how I could calculate some of these parameters from the image and adjust them appropriately using OpenCV?

• Why is glpk-java.jar not the same across all platforms?

  I'm using glpk-java in one of my projects. It provides a JNI to GLPK, a free LP/MIP solver. To use it under different platforms, you need different shared libraries (libglpk.so under Linux, libglpk.dylib under Mac OS X, glpk.dll under Windows) which is fully understandable. In addition, a java library is needed: glpk-java.jar. It's created as part of the build process. I was wondering why this JAR file (which only contains .class files) is different under different platforms? I.e., I cannot use the same glpk-java.jar under Linux and Mac OS X which means that I cannot put this file under revision control.

  We are looking into the possibility of upgrading to Team Foundation Server 2008 for our development team. One of our primary reasons is some of the deployment capabilities surrounding BizTalk 2009, but I am curious what other benefits there are for other projects outside of BizTalk. Some of our interests so far are moving to a one click build and deploy process, the addition of unit tests, and continuous integration. Some definite steps forward for the company I work for. What other benefits or information should I look at as I pitch this to upper management? I am looking for technical reasons, money is a not really a concern for this discussion.

• Facebook photo additions showing as separate / individual posts

  When posting additional photos to an existing Facebook album, each individual photo is being displayed on the mobile Facebook view as a separate post. Desktop display still groups them (correctly) into 1 album and shows as a single post. For instance, if I add 20 photos to an album, the people who have liked my page will see 20 individual posts in their feed from my account on their mobile devices. This has been happening for about 2 weeks now as far as I've noticed. My upload process has not changed. I should note that I've noticed this behavior by uploading via Lightroom as well as through the direct Facebook interface. Has anyone else experienced this? Did something change that I am not aware of? Thanks.

• How to be notified when a script's background job completes?

  My question is very similar to this one except that my background process was started from a script. I could be doing something wrong but when I try this simple example: #!/bin/bash set -mb # enable job control and notification sleep 5 & I never receive notification when the sleep background command finishes. However, if I execute the same directly in the terminal, $ set -mb $ sleep 5 & [1]+ Done sleep 5 I see the output that I expect. I'm using bash on cygwin. I'm guessing that it might have something to do with where the output is directed, but trying various output redirection, I'm not getting any closer?

• How to verify if file is according to mask in PHP without reading filename from disk.

  I have a list of file names(I already have the filelist let's say in a text file). I want to process this list in the following way: filenames of type /dirX/subdirX//.ext will be written in a new file all the other filenames will be written in a separate file. Is there any option to verify if a filename corresponds to a mask, without reading the file name from disk?(by filename I mean a simple string). I would like to know if there is such a function that don't require disk access. I know regex could be an workaround but I'd like to have something from php.

When I fill textbox with my card number i recieve remaining amount. Now, i want to speed that process with ie8 web slice. So is it possible to get data from another webserver page and than display it in my web slice on my web server. I tried to use XMLHTTP request but it can be only used on same domains.   In a RoR app, I want to specialize ActiveRecord's update_attributes() method in one of my models, extracting some of the attributes for special handling and passing the rest of them to the original update_attributes() method. The details: class Premise < ActiveRecord::Base ... def update_attributes(attrs) attrs.each_pair do |key, val| unless has_attribute?(key) do_special_processing(key, val) attrs.delete(key) end end # use original update_attributes() to process non-special pairs super.update_attributes(attrs) end ... end The call to super.update_attributes(attr) raises an error: undefined method `update_attributes' for true:TrueClass ... which makes me suspect I really don't understand the super keyword in Ruby. What am I missing? Specifically, how do I call the original update_attributes() method?

• Allocated Private Bytes keeps going up in one computer but not the other

  OK, this may sound weird, but here goes. There are 2 computers, A (Pentium D) and B (Quad Core) with almost the same amount of RAM. If I run the same code on both computers, the allocated private bytes in A never goes down resulting in a crash later on. In B it looks like the private bytes is constantly deallocated and everything looks fine. In both computers, the working set is deallocated and allocated similarly. Could this be an issue with manifests or DLLs (system)? I'm clueless. Note: I observed the utilized memory with Process Explorer.

• oracle display for every stored procedure the execution time

  Hi all. I'm working on a stored procedure. Inside this one, there are many call to the other stored procedures. There are a bunch of them. I was wondering if there is a option to be able to have the execution time of every stored procedure involved, every function (with a start and end time, ior something like that). The idea is that I need to optimise it and I should touch every part, and since I not sure where is the longest execution time, is a bit difficult. And after a modification I would like the see the hole process if it's shorter or not. If I call the procedure from unix, using sql plus, I have no log. If I call it from TOAD, it's blocked until the end. Any idea? I'm not a dba, so I don't have many rights on the database, I'm just a regular user. Thanks for any advice. C.C.

  I am working on rewriting my unexpected error handling process, and I would like to ask the community: What information do you capture both automatic, and manually, when software you have written crashes? Right now, I capture a few items, some of which are: Automatic: Name of app that crashed Version of app that crashed Stack trace Operating System version RAM used by the application Number of processors Screen shot: (Only on non-public applications) User name and contact information (from Active Directory) Manual: What context is the user in (i.e.: what company, tech support call number, RA number, etc...) When did the user expect to happen? (Typical response: "Not to crash”) Steps to reproduce. What other bits of information do you capture that helps you discover the true cause of an applications problem, especially given that most users simply mash the keyboard when asked to tell you what happened. For the record I’m using C#, WPF and .NET version 4, but I don’t necessarily want to limit myself to those. • Oracle: delete suddenly taking a long time

  Hi We have a feed process which runs every day of the year. As part of that we delete every row from a table (approx 1 million rows) every day, repopulate it using 5 different stored procedures and then commit the transaction. This is the only commit statement that we call. All of a sudden the delete has started takign about 2 hours to complete. The delete is also very simple (delete from T_PROFILE_WORK) This has worked perfectly well for the past year, but in the past week i have noticed this issue.
