• Decimal point removed from decimals in a Serialized XML

  I'm using XmlSerializer with classes created from a xsd using xsd.exe. It has worked fine for months. Now I'm receiving reports that in some cases the created xml file has all decimals serialized without a decimal point, e.g. 123.45 is serialized as 12345. I haven't been able to reproduce the problem, but I'm suspecting it may be related to localization. This is my first C# project, so I may be overlooking something basic. Could localization cause this problem? How can I make the serialization process locale independent? Any idea of something else that could cause this problem?

• Easy way for Crystal Reports to MS SQL Server Reporting Services conversion

  Is there a way to easily convert Crystal Reports reports to Reporting Services RDL format? We have quite a few reports that will be needing conversion soon. I know about the manual process (which is basically rebuilding all your reports from scratch in SSRS), but my searches pointed to a few possibilities with automatic conversion "acceleration" with several consulting firms. (As described on http://www.microsoft.com/sql/technologies/reporting/partners/crystal-migration.mspx). Do any of you have any valid experiences or recomendations regarding this particular issue? Are there any tools around that I do not know about?

  some week in the future i will have job to create php web app that will work as billing process. As the client and my team agree upon, the web app will only deploy in their internal server. This need arose some fundamental questions for myself. how do we lock the web app really really will work only in internal server and not in internet as it asked ? cause this need, the cost for the job have been cut into some degree. so it will be best if it only work as client describe it : it will be deploy in intranet an intranet only What is the pro and cons deploy php application only (with all of its apache server )in intranet ? What is the fundamental different between deploying php app in intranet environment and in internet ? is there anything to be consider ? I know we can put windows in to a flash-disk or pen-disk. i there any autorun apache/php server that work in the same fashion ?

  Imagine the following use case: I use an AJAX request for getting some info about Item and use this URL: http://domain/items/show/1 In my database all items have a field called modified_at where we store the moment when this item was previously modified. How can Last-Modified server HTTP header in response can minimize load/reduce requests/increase responsiveness if we need to process this request every time on the server side? It looks like we don't reduce the number of HTTP requests with that response and we don't reduce the load on server. Who needs this anyway?

• C++: Comparing list of doubles with some invalid values (QNAN)

  Hello, i need to compare two std::list < double , but some doubles may be invalid numbers (QNAN). If any invalid numbers are list entries the compare process won't work, because a comparison of the same invalid value will always result in 'false'. What is the easiest and most elegant way to solve the problem? My idea was to create copies of both lists, iterate through them and remove invalid values and then compare the remaining lists. The lists will typically have 20-50 values in them. Is there a more resource friendly way to solve it?

  Hi , I have some activities in my project like, Alerts,HomePage , Calculator etc. What i want to accomplish is to create tabs for all these activities and insert images for these. When we touch the tab the corresponding activity must load. I have done it using the menu options. But i must accomplish this using tabs. The tabs must also be at the bottom of the page... Something like this... Can anyone guide through the process...??? Should i create another class Tabs.java and tabs.xml or should i write tab host for each activity...??? • Visual C++: breakpoints disabled

  I have a 'release with debug info' unmanaged c++ .exe (built with VS2005) deployed onto another PC, the .exe and .pdb are in the same folder. When I try to attach to the process from VS2005, either locally or remotely from my dev PC, all my breakpoints become disabled. I don't get any warning/error popups which makes me think the PDB file is being found, but not seen as 'good'. Is that the right interpretation? I think if it couldn't see the PDB I'd get a "no debug information could be found" popup. Has anyone got any ideas what can be wrong?

• How to map a property for HQL usage only (in Hibernate)?

  i have a table like this one: id | name | score mapped to a POJO via XML with Hibernate. The score column i only need in oder by - clauses in HQL. The value for the score column is calculated by an algorithm and updated every 24 hours via SQL batch process (JDBC). So i dont wanna pollute my POJO with properties i dont need at runtime. For a single column that may be not a problem, but i have several different score columns. Is there a way to map a property for HQL use only? For example like this: <property name="score" type="double" ignore="true"/> so that i still can do this: from Pojo p order by p.score but my POJO implementation can look like this: public class Pojo { private long id; private String name; // ... } No Setter for score provided or property added to implementation. using the latest Hibernate version for Java.

  I'm trying to write a PHP script to copy the files from your local machine to a server: $destination_directory = 'I:\path\to\file\\' . $theme_number; if(!@opendir($desination_directory)) { echo 'Sorry, the destination directory could not be found.'; die(); } I check the access to the destination folder with that process, and I keep getting the error return. Anyone know what I'm doing wrong? I pretty much have everything else in place. I just don't know how to access this other server.

Can someone please explain to me why am I wrong? I mean, does the meaning of the write.lock file is to protect creation of two IndexWriters in the same process only? that doesnt seems the right answer to me...

If I have a flow where a user enters data in a form and hits next and repeats this process until they get to an approval page, what ways could I approach this problem to make the retention of data as simple as possible over the flow? I guess you could put all the information as you go in the session but could you get into memory issues if a lot of people are using your app and going through the flow at the same time?

• ASP.NET MVC: trying out a script injection hangs Visual Studio 2010 completely?

  Wondering if anyone has an idea of whats going on: I am new to ASP.NET MVC and am trying out a few things with jquery/ajax. The basic scenario is a dropdownlist with an add button next to it. Clicking the add button launches a jquery ui dialog with a textbox form, entering a value saves the item to the database and refreshes the drop-downlist. The dropdownlist is re-populated using a JSON result. This all works ok. I thought I would try a script injetion attack, ie add the text: alert("oh dear") to seee what would happen and to check if I need to encode anything. When I try and save this item (similar to the same process of adding a plain text entry) Visual Studio 2010 Beta 2 hangs completely. Any ideas? UPDATE: It happens when posting: "</"

• Is it possible to serve an ASPX page without it setting a cookie on your browser?

  Hi, we're in the process of trying to speed up the performance of our website by serving static content from a cookieless domain. That seems to be going well, but I have a new question: I know that it's "static content" that we're talking about when serving it from a cookieless domain, but we also have static content being served by ASPX pages, specifically images. For example: domain.com/resizeImages.aspx?src=images/image123.jpg&width=400&height=400 Pretty standard stuff, and although it's being served by managed code, it's still a static image. So my question is: Is it ok to serve the resizeImages.aspx image from our cookieless/static domain? And if so, how do I go about stopping ASP.NET from setting a ANONYMOUSASPX cookie every time I try? • Can EPD Python and MacPorts Python coexist on OS X (matplotlib)?

  I've been using MacPorts Python 2.6 on OS X 10.6. I am considering also installing the Enthought Python Distribution (EPD) on the same machine because it comes preconfigured with matplotlib and other nice data analysis and visualization packages. Can the two Python distributions co-exist peacefully on the same machine? What potential problems will I have to look out for (e.g., environment variables)? I know that building matplotlib through MacPorts is an option, but the process is lengthy (on the order of a full day) and there are open questions about compiling some dependencies on 64bit Intel. I would like to know about the tradeoffs before committing to one of the two approaches.

• [Linux] domain socket "sendto" encounter "errno 111, connection refused"

  I am using domain socket to get values from another process, like A to get a value from B, It works well for months. But recently, A is failed during "sendto" message to B with "errno 111, connection refused" occasionally. I checked the B domain socket bind file, it is exists. I also do some tests in another machine, also works well. So, does anyone encounter this problem before? Can anyone have some clues what might be probably wrong in this scenario? Thanks very much.

• Why does my regex fail when the number ends in 0?

  This is a really basic regex question but since I can't seem to figure out why the match is failing in certain circumstances I figured I'd post it to see if anyone else can point out what I'm missing. I'm trying to pull out the 2 sets of digits from strings of the form: 12309123098_102938120938120938 1321312_103810312032123 123123123_10983094854905490 38293827_1293120938129308 I'm using the following code to process each string: if($string && $string =~ /^(\d)+_(\d)+$/) { if(IsInteger($1) && IsInteger($2)) { print "success ('$1','$2')"; } else { print "fail"; } } Where the IsInterger() function is as follows: sub IsInteger { my $integer = shift; if($integer && $integer =~ /^\d+$/) { return 1; } return; } This function seems to work most of the time but fails on the following for some reason: 1287123437_1268098784380 1287123437_1267589971660 Any ideas on why these fail while others succeed? • Magento cache wrong read permissions?

  There seems to be a problem in Magento's reading of the var/cache directory. I've disabled Full Page Caching for testing. When I execute the bash command chmod -R 777var/cache/` before loading the page, it loads ~3 seconds quicker (the time it takes before 'mage::dispatch::routers_match' is reached in the Profiler is reduced from ~4 seconds to ~1 second). This speed-up remains a while but then is lost until the chmod is called again. I'm guessing this has to do with writing permissions somehow? The odd thing is, the cache contents are afaik owned by the process that is executing magento (the web user). Does anyone have any clues what could be the problem or what could be changed to prevent this?

• calling a wcf/soap method as an http get

  Is there any way to enforce that a method call in soap based wcf is called as an HTTP get? I'm not sure if this would be handled on the client or server side. We wanted to have the wcf call process as a get vs. post for cacheability, etc. I'm also not sure how to monitor a wcf service to determine if calls are doing gets or posts (or if it always does one or the other). Can I use fiddler for this? I would imagine I could use a restful wcf service to wrap the call, but I wasn't sure if there was a way to do it straight in a soap based service.

  I have a website using ASP with an MS Access DB back-end for storing mainly blog posts. My company has a very long software approval process so I am stuck with what I have (i.e. I must use Access). I use server-side javascript to retrieve posts stored in the database using OLEDB calls. Everything works fine except that I cannot read any tables from the database when it is open in the MS Access program. The page displays an error message about the file being in use. This could lead to significant downtime while I am doing any work within Access. How can I make the file readable by my ASP application while it is open in Access?

  Hello, I am having trouble uploading a file through php. I check the file type at the beginning of the process and I get an error. This is the error I am getting: Warning: Illegal offset type in /balblabla/DBfunctions.inc.php on line 183 This is the printed out $_FILES var Array ( [Picture] = Array ( [name] = JPG.jpg [type] = image/jpeg [tmp_name] = /tmp/phpHlrNY8 [error] = 0 [size] = 192221 ) ) Here is the segment of code I am using that is giving me issues: function checkFile($file, $type) { if( in_array($_FILES[$file]['type'], $type) ){ // <--- LINE 183 return true; }//if return false; } // end checkFile() This is the line of code that calls the function if( checkFile( $_FILES['Picture'], array("image/jpeg") ) == true ){ //do stuff }// end if I have used this piece of code on dozens of websites on my own server so i am guessing that this is some different configuration option. • Workaround for PHP SOAP request failure when wsdl defines service port binding as https and port 80?

  I am consuming a SOAP web service using php5's soap extension. The service' wsdl was generated using Axis java2wsdl, and whatever options are used during generation result in the port binding url being listed as https://xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx**:80** If I download the wsdl to my server, remove the port 80 specification from the port binding location value, and reference the local file in my soapclient call it works fine. However, if I try to reference it remotely (or download it and reference it locally, as-is) the call fails with a soap fault. I have no input into the service side so I can't make them change their wsdl-generation process. So, unless there's a way to make the soapclient ignorant of the port, I'm stuck with using a locally modified copy of someone else' wsdl (which I'd rather not do). Any thoughts on how to make my soapclient ignore the port 80?
