• IE Display Bug, jQuery bug

  So I built some complex ajaxy jquery module on my homepage, with the help of "scrollable" from flowplayer.org. It works fine for me on Chrome, Opera, Firefox ... but of course IE is not playing friendly (regardless of the version, from my testing). Objects are not displaying exactly where they should, some are overlaying each other, and when a click a button some divs just disappear. However, if I resize the IE browser window up and down, the display mostly fixes itself. Then if I click on one of the buttons I made, it messes it up again. Until I resize the window again and it looks fine. (note the forceshowIE=1, because by default I hide it for IE people) I was thinking maybe there is a way to force IE to redraw the entire module sometimes? Or maybe someone has a better idea on how to fix the underlying problem? • Why doesn't Data Driven Subscription in SSRS 2005 like my Stored Procedure?

  I'm trying to define a Data Driven Subscription for a report in SSRS 2005. In Step 3 of the set up you're asked for: " a command or query that returns a list of recipients and optionally returns fields used to vary delivery settings and report parameter values for each recipient" This I have written and it returns the data without a hitch. I press next and it rolls onto the next screen in the set up which has all the variables to set for the DDS and in each case it has an option to "Select Value From Database" I select this radio button and press the drop down. No fields are available to me. Now the only way I could vary the number of parameters returned by the SP was to have the SP write the SQL to an nvarchar variable and then at the end execute the variable as sql. I have tested this in the Management Studio and it returns the expected fields. I even named them after the fields in SSRS but the thing won't put the field names into the dropdowns. I've even taken the query body out of the Stored Proc, verified it in SSRS and then tried that. It doesn't work either. Can anyone shed any light into what I'm doing wrong?

• iPhone/iPod receive messages from C# tcpip server using CocoaAsyncSocket

  Hello, i'm trying to send/receive data over wifi to an iphone/ipodtouch app from a C# tcpip server. for this i used cocoaAsyncSocket from the google project. If i push a button and i send a request from ipod to server it returns the requested data(song title for example)..i want to know every second what song is playng...so from C# server i send at intervals of 1 second messages to my app. In my app in an timer with the interval of 1 second i call the asyncSocket read readDataWithTimeout method. My problem is that after 8-9 seconds that method is not called anymore. The connection to the server is still active and the C# server still sends data.. what i want to do is the following thing: - winamp plays a song - C# server asks winamp what songs is he playing and sends the song title to my app. - iphone app receives the data and displays it i don't know why the readDataWithTimeout method is not called anymore after a short period of time..Maybe because the short time between messages sent by the C# server?   Hi, I have a datatable with as search fields. I want a method on the backing bean to be invoked when ENTER key is pressed, as well as the DataTable to be re-rendered. My approach so far only works in IE 6, and 7, not in FF. This is the inputText: <h:inputText value="#{applicantProductListBean.applicantNameFilterValue}" id="applicantNameFilterValue" onkeypress="submitByEnter(event)"> </h:inputText> and this is the Javascript method I am invoking: function submitByEnter(e){ if(e.keyCode==13){ // alert("Enter was pressed"); e.returnValue=false; e.cancel=true; document.getElementById("applicantProductListForm:refreshButton").click(); } } As you can see, the Javascript method clicks on the button refresh, which exists on the page: <a4j:commandButton value="Refresh" id="refreshButton" action="#{applicantProductListBean.refreshData}" image="/images/icons/refresh48x48.gif" reRender="table, scroller"> </a4j:commandButton> The refreshData method does not return anything. As said before, this only works in IE 6 and IE 7. Does anyone know why it does not work in FF? An alternative I was considering was HotKey, which can indeed catch the event of ENTER, but it can only invoke Javascript, so it isn't appropriate. Is the proper way to do this via RichFaces or plain JSF? Cheers! • __doPostBack is not working in firefox

  The __doPostBack is not working in firefox 3 (have not checked 2). Everything is working great in IE 6&7 and it even works in Chrome?? It's a simple asp:LinkButton with an OnClick event <asp:LinkButton ID="DeleteAllPicturesLinkButton" Enabled="False" OnClientClick="javascript:return confirm('Are you sure you want to delete all pictures? \n This action cannot be undone.');" OnClick="DeletePictureLinkButton_Click" CommandName="DeleteAll" CssClass="button" runat="server"> The javascript confirm is firing so I know the javascript is working, it's specirically the __doPostBack event. There is a lot more going on on the page, just didn't know if it's work it to post the entire page. I enable the control on the page load event. Any ideas? I hope this is the correct way to do this, but I found the answer. I figured I'd put it up here rather then in a stackoverflow "answer" Seems it had something to do with nesting ajax toolkit UpdatePanel. When I removed the top level panel it was fixed. Hope this helps if anyone else has the same problem. I still don't know what specifically was causing the problem, but that was the solution for me.

• Objective C - displaying data in NSTextView

  Hi, I'm having difficulties displaying data in a TextView in iPhone programming. I'm analyzing incoming audio data (from the microphone). In order to do that, I create an object "analyzer" from my SignalAnalyzer class which performs analysis of the incoming data. What I would like to do is to display each new incoming data in a TextView in realtime. So when I push a button, I create the object "analyzer" whiwh analyze the incoming data. Each time there is new data, I need to display it on the screen in a TextView. My problem is that I'm getting an error because (I think) I'm trying to send a message to the parent class (the one taking care of displaying stuff in my TextView : it has a TexView instance variable linked in Interface Builder). What should I do in order to tell my parent class what it needs to display ? Or how sohould I design my classes to display automaticlally something ? Thank you for your help. • Getting Response from TIdHttp with Error Code 400

  I have been writing a Delphi library for StackApps API. I have run into a problem with Indy. I am using the version that ships with Delphi 2010. If you pass invalid parameters to one of the StackApps API it will return a HTTP Error Code 400 and then in the response it will contain a JSON object with more details. By visiting http://api.stackoverflow.com/0.8/stats/?Key=BadOnPurpose in Chrome Browser you can see an Example. I.E. and Firefox hide the JSON. Using WireShark I can see that the JSON object is returned using the code below, but I am unable to access it using Indy. For this test code I dropped a TIdHttp component on the form and placed the following code in a button click. procedure TForm10.Button2Click(Sender: TObject); var SS : TStringStream; begin SS := TStringStream.Create; IdHTTP1.Get('http://api.stackoverflow.com/0.8/stats/?Key=BadOnPurpose',SS,[400]); Memo1.Lines.Text := SS.DataString; SS.Free; end; I passed [400] so that it would not raise the 400 exception. It is as if Indy stopped reading the response. As the contents of Memo1 are empty. I am looking for a way to get the JSON Details.

• Detecting validation errors in Silverlight 4

  I'm using the new Silverlight 4 support for IDataErrorInfo. So I have a POCO object that has implemented the interface, and when a validation rule fires the Silverlight UI correctly shows the error. So that is all working fine. The POCO object looks like this: public class SomeDomainClass : IDataErrorInfo { public string SomeString { get; set; } public string Error { get { return String.Empty; } } public string this[string columnName] { get { if (columnName == "SomeString" && PolicyNumber.Contains("%")) return "SomeString cannot contain '%'. For example if I have a Save button and I want to disable it if there are errors, or display a message or something. What is the best way to detect if there are existing validation errors on the page? Is there a facility for this based around the IDataErrorInfo support in Silverlight? Or do I have to track it in the domain model myself?

• CGContextDrawPDFPage taking up large amounts of memory

  I have a PDF file that I want to draw in outline form. I want to draw the first several pages on the document each in their own UIImage to use on a button so that when clicked, the main display will navigate to the clicked page. However, CGContextDrawPDFPage seems to be using copious amounts of memory when attempting to draw the page. Even though the image is only supposed to be around 100px tall, the application crashes while drawing one page in particular, which according to Instruments, allocates about 13 MB of memory just for the one page. • Using JavaScript/jQuery to return a list of CSS selectors based on highlighted text

  I've been given some project requirements that involve (ideally) returning a list of CSS selectors based on highlighted text. In other words, a user could do something like this on a page: Click a button to indicate that their next text selection should be recorded. Highlight some text on the page. See a generated list of CSS selectors that correspond to all the elements that contain the highlighted text. Firstly, does this seem like a feasible goal? jQuery makes it easy to use a selector to access a particular element, but I'm not sure if the reverse holds true. If an element lacks an id attribute, I also don't know how you'd return an "optimized" selector - i.e., one that identifies an element uniquely. Maybe crawl up the DOM until you find an ID, then stem the selector from there? Secondly, from a high-level perspective, any ideas on how to go about this? Any tips or tricks that could speed development? I very much appreciate any help. Thanks!

• cellForRowAtIndexPath not being called on tableView reloadData

  I have a UITableView on one view that loads in data at the start of the application, and then later when a user enters text into a box and hits a button, I re-query the database, re-populate the original NSMutableArray that stores the data for the table. All of that is working perfectly. In some logging statements I can tell that the array has the correct information, the numberOfRowsInSection method is returning the proper count, and is being called after the reload is called. However, the cellForRowAtIndexPath is never called the second time (after the reload) and the table data is never updated. I've spent hours searching the net and I've found nothing that helps. Can anyone help? • Building a generic page "Query Analyzer" like in Asp.net with SMO

  Hello, I'm build a web page in ASP.net is supposed to work just like Query Analyzer. It has basically a textarea to input the sql command, and an Execute button. I'm using SMO to execute the command in the database, as follows: //Create object SMO Microsoft.SqlServer.Management.Smo.Server server = new Microsoft.SqlServer.Management.Smo.Server(new Microsoft.SqlServer.Management.Common.ServerConnection(oConn)); //To execute the command server.ConnectionContext.ExecuteNonQuery(tbx_cmd.Text); //OR myDataset = server.ConnectionContext.ExecuteWithResults(tbx_cmd.Text); The problem is that the textarea command can contain anything, from a stored procedure (with GO's statements) and any select command that return resultsets, just like Query Analyzer. But, if I have GO statements, I only can perform the query using ExecuteNonQuery method. If I use the ExecuteWithResults method, it raises errors because of the GO statements. And if I want the resultsets to be available, of course I can only use the ExecuteWithResults method. Does anybody knows how can I do to execute the same command texts at the same time? Thank you!

  I have a LINQ to ENTITY query that pulls from a table, but I need to be able to create a "fuzzy" type search. So I need to add a where clause that searches by lastname IF they add the criteria in the search box (Textbox, CAN be blank --- in which case it pulls EVERYTHING). Here is what I have so far: var query = from mem in context.Member orderby mem.LastName, mem.FirstName select new { FirstName = mem.FirstName, LastName = mem.LastName, }; That will pull everything out of the Member table that is in the Entity object. Then I have an addition to the logic: sLastName = formCollection["FuzzyLastName"].ToString(); if (!String.IsNullOrEmpty(sLastName)) query = query.Where(ln => ln.LastName.Contains(sLastName)); The problem is when the search button is pressed, nothing is returned (0 results). I have run the query against the SQL Server that I expect to happen here and it returns 6 results. This is the query I expect: SELECT mem.LastName, mem.FirstName FROM Members mem WHERE mem.LastName = 'xxx' (when xxx is entered into the textbox) Anyone see anything wrong with this?

• Where are the factory_girl records?

  I'm trying to perform an integration test via Watir and RSpec. So, I created a test file within /integration and wrote a test, which adds a test user into a base via factory_girl. The problem is — I can't actually perform a login with my test user. The test I wrote looks as following: ... before(:each) @user = Factory(:user) @browser = FireWatir::Firefox.new end it "should login" @browser.text_field(:id, "username").set(@user.username) @browser.text_field(:id, "password").set(@user.password) @browser.button(:id, "get_in").click end ... As I'm starting the test and see a "performance" in browser, it always fires up a Username is not valid error. I've started an investigation, and did a small trick. First of all I've started to have doubts if the factory actually creates the user in DB. So after the immediate call to factory I've put some puts User.find stuff only to discover that the user is actually in DB. Ok, but as user still couldn't have logged in I've decided to see if he's present in DB with my own eyes. I've added a sleep right after a factory call, and went to see what's in the DB at the moment. I was crushed to see that the user is actually missing there! How come? Still, when I'm trying to output a user within the code, he is actually being fetched from somewhere. So where does the records, made by factory_girl within a runtime lie? Is it test or dev DB? I don't get it. I've 10 times checked if I'm running my Mongrel in test mode (does it matter? I think it does, as I'm trying to tun an integration test) and if my database.yml holds the correct connection specific data. I'm using an authlogic, if that can give any clue (no, putting activate_authlogic doesn't work here).

• How to create a UIScrollView Programmatically?

  Alright, so the key here is I'm not using IB at all, because the View I'm working with is created programmatically. The UIView covers the lower half the screen, and has a bunch of buttons on it. However, I want to add more buttons to the UIView, without making it any larger. To do so, I want to make a UIScrollView inside the view, which will allow me to add more buttons off screen so the user can scroll to them. I think that's how it works. self.manaView = [[[UIView alloc] initWithFrame:frame] autorelease]; self.manaView.backgroundColor = [UIColor purpleColor]; UIScrollView *scroll = [UIScrollView alloc]; scroll.contentSize = CGSizeMake(320, 400); scroll.showsHorizontalScrollIndicator = YES; [self.manaView addSubview:scroll]; The first part of the code iniates my UIView, which works great, but I can't figure out how to make the UIScrollView programmatically and add it to the view, and then add the buttons to it.   Greeting, I'm using jquery Plugins/Validation library. • PHP MYSQL FPDF retrieving pdf string stored as blob.

  Using the above technologies, I want to create a PDF, store it in my db, and email it. All with the click of one button. I also want to call it up and have it be able to display with a hyperlink. I am very new to FPDF. Therefore, I am trying to start off very slowly. I began with this link stackoverflow Q I put both parts of his code into the same page and tried with separate pages. I made the suggested changes/additions and even did a line by line comparison. I still get the message, "format error: not a PDF or corrupted" If I just $pdf-Output(); I get the pdf to display. It's either the way the string is being Output, or it's the header() function. It's not the storage method, unless my column setup is incorrect. BUt a blob is a blob, right? If you want, I can upload the sanitized code. Just let me know what would help answer this. Thanks JJ

• Cast Graphics to Image in C#

  I have a pictureBox on a Windows Form. I do the following to load a PNG file into it. Bitmap bm = (Bitmap)Image.FromFile("Image.PNG", true); Bitmap tmp; public Form1() { InitializeComponent(); this.tmp = new Bitmap(bm.Width, bm.Height); } private void pictureBox1_Paint(object sender, PaintEventArgs e) { e.Graphics.DrawImage(this.bm, new Rectangle(0, 0, tmp.Width, tmp.Height), 0, 0, tmp.Width, tmp.Height, GraphicsUnit.Pixel); } However, I need to draw things on the image and then have the result displayed again. Drawing rectangles can only be done via the Graphics class. I'd need to draw the needed rectangles on the image, make it an instance of the Image class again and save that to this.bm I can add a button that executes this.pictureBox1.Refresh();, forcing the pictureBox to be painted again, but I can't cast Graphics to Image. Because of that, I can't save the edits to the this.bm bitmap. That's my problem, and I see no way out.

• Html Select List: why would onchange be called twice?

  I have a page with a select list (ASP.NET MVC Page) The select list and onchange event specified like this: <%=Html.DropDownList("CompanyID", Model.CompanySelectList, "(select company)", new { @class = "data-entry-field", @onchange = "companySelectListChanged()" })%> The companySelectListChanged function is getting called twice? I am using the nifty code in this question to get the caller. both times the caller is the onchange event, however if i look at the callers caller using: arguments.callee.caller.caller the first call returns some system code as the caller (i presume) and the second call returns undefined. I am checking for undefined to only react once to onchange, but this doesnt seem ideal, whcy would onchange be called twice? UPDATE: ok, found the culprit! ...apart from me :-) but the issue of calling the companySelectListChanged function twice still stands. The onchange event is set directly on the select as mentioned. This calls the companySelectListChanged function. ..notice the 'data-entry-field' class, now in a separate linked javascript file a change event on all fields with this class is bound to a function that changes the colour of the save button. This means there is two events on the onchange, but the companySelectListChanged is called twice? The additional binding is set as follows: $('.data-entry-field').bind('keypress keyup change', function (e) { highLightSaveButtons(); }); Assuming its possible to have 2 change events on the select list, its would assume that setting keypress & keyup events may be breaking something? Any ideas?

• Call OpenFileDialog Silverlight from JavaScript

  I'm trying to call a function in a Silverlight 4 component to open a file dialog and upload a file to the server. Everything works well within Silverlight but I'd like to call the component from JavaScript. So I call the button click handler from a C#-function which is [ScriptableMember]. I get the following error when calling the function: System.Security.SecurityException: Dialogs must be user-initiated. at System.Windows.Browser.ManagedObjectInfo.Invoke(ManagedObject obj, InvokeType invokeType, String memberName, ScriptParam[] args) at System.Windows.Hosting.ManagedHost.InvokeScriptableMember(IntPtr pHandle, Int32 nMemberID, Int32 nInvokeType, Int32 nArgCount, ScriptParam[] pArgs, ScriptParam& pResult, ExceptionInfo& pExcepInfo) I based my code on the tutorial by Tim Heuer that can be found here: http://www.silverlight.net/learn/videos/silverlight-videos/openfiledialog-and-file-upload/ I understand why the error is thrown, sort of, the 'click' from the user is done in JavaScript and probably is not going through to Silverlight. For Silverlight this is merely a function call. Is this new policy from Silverlight 4? Is it still possible to only use Silverlight behind to screens to upload a file? Any help is appreciated.

• Properly registering JavaScript and CSS in MVC 2 Editor Templates

  How do I properly register javascript blocks in an ASP.NET MVC 2 (RTM) Editor template? The specific scenario I'm in is that I want to use Dynarch JSCal2 DateTimePicker for my standard datetime picker, but this question is in general to any reusable javascript package. I have my template working properly now but it has my JS and CSS includes in my master page and I would rather only include these things if I actually need them: <link rel="stylesheet" type="text/css" href="../../Content/JSCal2-1.7/jscal2.css" /> <link rel="stylesheet" type="text/css" href="../../Content/JSCal2-1.7/border-radius.css" /> <script type="text/javascript" src="../../Scripts/JSCal2-1.7/jscal2.js"></script> <script type="text/javascript" src="../../Scripts/JSCal2-1.7/lang/en.js"></script> So obviously I could just put these lines into my template, but then if I have a screen that has 5 DateTimePickers, then this content would be duplicated 5 times which wouldn't be ideal. Anyways, I still want my View's Template to trigger this code being put into the <head> of my page.
