• Android: implementing sliding cards in widget

  I have a widget that periodically updates itself (hourly) to display top result of search query. I would like to extend it so it captures several top results and then loops through these. The best example would be Genie News and Weather widget for which I was unable to find a source code. QUESTIONS: What would be a good way to implement the animation? I'm thinking ViewAnimator + timer, but is there maybe a better way, say FrameLayout + alerts? I'm already using AlertManager to periodically pull search results for the widget How bad such arraignment would affect phone's battery life?

• Objectify - Retrieve subclass instances with superclass query

  for a project i'm making, i'm using Objectify and Google AppEngine I'm quoting and old message from Google Groups, but the problem i have is the same: Here's the problem I'm trying to solve: I'd like to persist instances of several subclasses of one superclass to the datastore, and then retrieve them by querying for that superclass. (For example, a query for Game would return instances of Chess and Backgammon). Is there any way to accomplish this using Objectify? Because the thing i want is the same, but the topic does not provides yet an answer (it's 3 years old), I moved here with the same question. From 2010 to now, this question has been solved? • Visual Studio ate my toobar :'(

  Visual Studio ate my toolbar, I opened a solution for a project I've been working on for a few months, and the toolbar has 135 buttons on it, and while it was loading, the whole toolbar flickered like it was trying to give me a seizure or something, and then it dissappeared. Now when I click Debug, it won't let me do it because all the resources are missing!? I'm using: Visual Studio 2010 C# Express Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit. I have searched Google and found nothing related. I'm hoping that Visual Studio can also somehow make bowel movements so I can find those missing resources and put everything back together again, but I don't think that's a likely scenario... Has anybody ever experienced this before, and if so, are there any updates/fixes for this?

• Access startup form locked GUI

  I just had an interesting experience with a startup form in MS Access 2010. I designed a login form and when I thought I was done I set my startup form to be the login form I'd just created. I then closed Access and reopened it but my login form did not appear. Instead the whole GUI was locked. I cannot click on anything. My form was working during my tests before I set it as a startup form and reloaded Access. How can I either remove my form as a startup object or get the use of my GUI back?

• Is there a tool that will show diagrams of my SQL database in real-time?

  I've created some diagrams of SQL tables using the "Reverse Engineer" feature of Microsoft Office Visio. I like being able to visualize my relational databases in this manner. However, what I get is just a static document that I can print, e-mail to colleagues, and click widgets on. Earlier this year, I saw at a demo that the new version of Visual Studio 2010 has a new feature called the "Architect Explorer", which allows developers to view relationships among .net classes on the fly. It has many features for filtering the data that the developer is interested in. It would be really awesome if I could visually browse my tables and stored procedures and see what is related to what by primary key, foreign key, and referenced in stored procedures. I realize that I'm talking about two entirely different technologies and it's not a perfect analogy, but is there some similar tool that would allow me to visualize tables in my SQL database?

  I'm currently trying to write a stored procedure that can compute the biweekly periods when a date is passed in as a parameter. The business logic: the first Monday of the year is first day of the biweekly period. For example in 2010: period period_start period_end 1 2010-01-04 2010-01-17 2 2010-01-18 2010-01-31 3 2010-02-01 2010-02-14 .... 26 2010-12-20 2011-01-02 Passing today's date of 2010-12-31 will return 26, 2010-12-20 and 2011-01-02. Since I have 2 animations going, it seems it ignores the .stop(). What can be done to prevent this? • Which SharePoint Authentication Mode Should I be using for this scenario?

  I currently have a sharepoint 2010 site for which NTLM windows authentication has been enabled (by default it is against Active Directory I believe). I'd need to change this so that I have 1 custom login page which accepts username/password/domain and validates those information against the active directory, then if that was valid, I'll write logic to logon to another webservice which is located on another server and returns me a unique sessionId that I can store (as a cookie) for further use. Please could you advise which authentication mode I can use to create this custom login page? should that be FBA against AD? not sure how that works. Thanks in advance.

  I am working in VB.NET 2010 Framework 2.0. I don't want to allow some properties from going into form's designer file but the those properties will present on the form(property grid). The behavior of these properties will be same always. I used the following code: <DesignerSerializationVisibility(DesignerSerializationVisibility.Hidden)> Public Property GradientBegin() As Color = Color.Red But the problem I am facing is that - on the property grid after changing the "GradientBegin" color to other than RED and compiling the program, it is replacing the new changed value to RED again. So I am not able to change the color actually. How can I achieve this? Thanks for any reply in advance.

  As a simplified example I am executing the following IEnumerable<string> files = Directory.EnumerateFiles(path, @"2010*.xml", SearchOption.TopDirectoryOnly).ToList(); In my results set I am getting a few files which do no match the file pattern. According to msdn searchPattern wildcard is "Zero or more characters" and not a reg ex. An example is that I am getting a file name back as "2004_someothername.xml". For information there are in excess of 25,000 files in the folder. Does anyone have any idea what is going on?

• Is it possible to log the first line of the response in apache?

  Hey, We have an Tomcat server where we're trying to log the HTTP version which the response is sent with. We've seen a few times that it seems to be HTTP/0.9, which kills the content (not supported I guess?). We would like to get some stats on this by using the access log in apache. However, since the header line for this isn't prefixed by anything, we cannot use the %{xxx}o logging. Is there a way to get this? An example: Response is: HTTP/1.1 503 This application is not currently available Server: Apache-Coyote/1.1 Content-Type: text/html;charset=utf-8 Content-Length: 1090 Date: Wed, 12 May 2010 12:53:16 GMT Connection: close And we'd like the catch HTTP/1.1 (alternatively, HTTP/1.1 503 This application is not currently available. Is this possible? We do not have access to the application being served, so we need to do this either as a Java filter, or in the tomcat access log - Preferably in the access log.

  I have a UITabbarController that I'm pushing another controller on top of using a UINavigationController. On iOS 6 and below, the tabBar of the parent controller slides away and the toolbar of the new view controller is presented. But on iOS 7 the tabBar doesn't animate away even if I run the code [self.navigationController setToolbarHidden:YES animated:NO]; EDIT - Okay I narrowed my problem to iOS 7 not respecting the hidesBottomBarWhenPushed property, I followed the answers in hidesBottomBarWhenPushed ignored in iOS 7 but it didn't work. The view that is pushed has a toolbar with buttons and the buttons are responding to touches, it's just that the tabBar is on top of the toolbar.

After the installation on trying to run, it shows this error: Error 14 It is an error to use a section registered as allowDefinition='MachineToApplication' beyond application level. This error can be caused by a virtual directory not being configured as an application in IIS. E:\Users\Sarin\Documents\Visual Studio 2010\WebSites\WebAssist\blog\web.config 61 I added the webiste as a Virtual Directory and also converted that to application.   I'm trying to evaluate C# code as it gets typed, think of it as if I'm trying to write an IDE. So a person types code, I want to find out what code did he just write: String x = ""; I want to now register that x is a type of String. And now everytime the user types x again, and I want to show him all the things he can do with x, basically like Visual Studio Intellisense. Will I need some lexers or parsers for this? Now I want to mimic these complex spreadsheets on the web forms but I am unsure of the correct control to use. • Using TweenMax to fade in div with background pattern and z-index not working

  I'm trying to do this really simple fade using TweenMax for this div I have. Here's the css for the div .aboutBg { background:url(../images/pattern.jpg); top:0; right:0; left:0; bottom:0, position:fixed; border:10px solid red; z-index:10; } TweenMax.to('.aboutPage', 0.5, {autoAlpha:1}); What's happening is the border would fade in nicely but the patterned bg is not, it just pops up at the end of the tween. If I remove the z-index everything works, but I have to have set the z-index so it's on top of my other content. Also I'm not tweening the z-index, it's set before the tween, so I'm not sure why it's not fading correctly. Anyone has any idea? Thanks.
