• Is there a way to query if array field contains a certain value in Doctrine2?

  Starting out with Symfony2 + Doctrine. I have a table with User objects (fos_user), for which my schema contains a roles column of an 'array' type. Doctrine saves fields of this type by serializing them from php 'array' to 'longtext' (in mysql's case). So let's say I have the following users saved into DB: **User1**: array(ROLE_ADMIN, ROLE_CUSTOM1) **User2**: array(ROLE_ADMIN, ROLE_CUSTOM2) **User3**: array(ROLE_CUSTOM2) Now in my controller I want to select all users with ROLE_ADMIN set. Is there a way to write a DQL query which would directly return me User1 and User2? Or do I need to fetch all users to have Doctrine to unserialize roles column and then for each of them do in_array('ROLE_ADMIN', $user-getRoles())? I have searched the DQL part of the manual, but so far did not find anything similar to my needs...

• Best way to store chat messages and files

  I would like to know what do you think about storing chat messages in a database? I need to be able to bind other stuff to them (like files, or contacts) and using a database is the best way I see for now. The same question comes for files, because they can be bound to chat messages, I have to store them in the database too.. With thousands of messages and files I wonder about performance drops and database size. What do you think considering I'm using PHP with MySQL/Doctrine?

  We are building a website for business on global wise, for every country major cities are covered in this concept. I need some suggestions from PHP Mysql People. Can i create single databse for all cities or multiple databases. Because in this system contains some relations between cities ,every chamber need nearly 50 tables for networking and some other tables. If I can create separate databases for every chamber there would be nearly 50*1000 tables need because we have 1000 cities. So Please give suggestions how can i build database for my system. • PHPUnit doesn't recognize file_exists()

  I've set up a project with unit test files in NetBeans. I set bootstrap to C:\www\foo\_tests\TestAutoload.php and put simple autoload method to this file: function __autoload( $class_name ) { // series of ifs if ( ... ) { $file_name = ... } if ( file_exists ( $file_name ) ) { require_once( $file_name ); } else { echo "autoload error"; } } All of my tests fail on autoload this way. They always output just "autoload error". If I don't check if file_exists and just use require_once( $file ) no matter what's in $file, it works perfectly. Anyone encountered anything like this before? It's not something I couldn't resolve by simply not checking whether file exists or not, but I'm interested why it does this and if I can cheat it somehow.

• Javascript form validation events

  Hi All, I am making a small form for a php app and had a question regarding javascript validation. What is the best event to run the javascript validation on the input value? Is it the "focusout" event? I used "focusout" to originally but it creates problems when the user hits enter while they are still focused on any particular field in the form. Should I run the js validation when the user clicks submit? Just looking for some advice. Thanks! Chuck

And in consideration, id like to go into mobile app dev...So thats +1 for Java. Time taken to learn the language is not an issue...Just would like to know which is the most profitable at the end of all the training. And on a slight note. Can Javascript work with Java? • How can I get my div id to reload via ajax and jquery

  I'm creating a CMS using jQuery and AJAX. When I click, my "Add Campaign" buttom, it creates a unique client ID in the DB and on a hard reload, the new client shows up in its container. I am trying to use ajax to reload the container on the fly and I'm not having the exact luck i am hoping for. • Why doesn't MySQL support millisecond / microsecond precision?

  So I just found the most frustrating bug ever in MySQL. Apparently the TIMESTAMP field, and supporting functions do not support any greater precision than seconds!? So I am using PHP and Doctrine, and I really need those microseconds (I am using the actAs: [Timestampable] property). I found a that I can use a BIGINT field to store the values. But will doctrine add the milliseconds? I think it just assigns NOW() to the field. I am also worried the date manipulation functions (in SQL) sprinkled through the code will break. I also saw something about compiling a UDF extension. This is not an acceptable because I or a future maintainer will upgrade and poof, change gone. Has anyone found a suitable workaround?

• Drupal 7: Unable to find the wrapper "public"

  Can anyone help me with this major issue I have. I have downloaded my Drupal 7 site running fine on current server, but I cant run it on localhost or on the new server where I am trying to move it... It just gives me the "White Screen of Death"... and after commenting "set_error_handler" in boostrap.inc, I find out that the errors are all related to "public://" wrapper. I am new to FreshBooks (no only the API) and I want to use it for some automatically generated invoices. I was trying to run some of the source code examples (the PHP and JS libraries in particular): http://developers.freshbooks.com/api/samplecode/ The problem is that I get an error message: "Connection error" Do I need to set up anything else in the example files besides my API and token obtained from the FreshBooks site? • How to handle dynamic site localizations?

  I've got a website that is currently all in english. It is an online game, so it has a bunch of different pages with static text, as well as a lot of content in a database. I am trying to expand more globally and am gearing up to release some localizations of the site. However, I'm not sure about the best way to go about setting this up so that it'll be the easiest for me to manage and the easiest for users to use as well. Should I be storing the translated texts in a database, or should this be done in a completely different way? If it matters at all, the site is written in PHP and uses MySQL.

  My name is Dimas and I work as a developer in a hospital. I've developed a web form with JQuery Mobile which is accessed from an Android tablet. It sends data (text and FILES) to the server (PHP) and it's saved in a MySQL database. This tablets are used by doctors that are visiting the patients in their homes. Some of these patients live in remote areas with very bad Internet connection, so I'm thinking on use HTML5 Offline feature to solve these situations. I started reading about it but I'm newbie with this technology. I've some questions: Do you think this is the best/easiest solution? If I could save the form data in a local sqlite storage when the tablet is offline, how I could synchronize it with the data in MySQL server when the tablet become online? Thanks

  Is there a way to actively serve Apache's default 404 page for a number of URLs using mod_rewrite? Not a custom error document, but a rule like RewriteCond %{REQUEST_URI} ^/dirname/pagename RewriteRule -- serve 404 page ----- I guess I could build a PHP page that sends the 404 header and have mod_rewrite redirect all the URLs there but I would prefer a solution that is based on mod_rewrite only. I just had the idea of redirecting to a non-existent address: RewriteCond %{REQUEST_URI} ^/dirname/pagename RewriteRule .* /sflkadsölfkasdfölkasdflökasdf but that would give the user the message "/sflkadsölfkasdfölkasdflökasdf does not exist" on the error page, which looks a bit unprofessional.

• TinyMCE refresh issue

  I'm using TinyMCE, witch is working fine for the most part... when the user saves the page redirects to a a php page that extracts the textfield data and processes it, i wont elaborate cause that's no t the issue... the issue is that when it redirects back to the page... the textfield is blank and i can click on it but not see anything, if i type it enters(but i can't see it), this also happens when i go to the address directly, the only way i can see it is to hit the refresh button... i tried a meta refresh to the page... i tried disabling cache... any ideas would be great... thanks in advance

• getting real link from rss feed link

  I am experimenting with scraping certain pages from an RSS feed using curl and php. The page scraping was working fine when I was just using actual links, not links from the rss feeds. However, I realize now that links in rss feeds are usually just redirects to the actual page (at least this is what it seems like). Because now when I scrape a page with the rss link, it doesn't actually get the information I am looking for. Has anyone encountered this and know of a workaround. Is there anyway to see where the rss link is redirecting to and capturing that value?
