Put specific tds from a table row into edit using jQuery (then update w/ ajax)

I'm somewhat new to jQuery, so I could use some help here. This is my issue: I have a php script outputting a dynamic table. Each row has an "edit" button, plus some other fields. Only 3 of those need to be turned into an input box. The edit button should only put that specific row into "edit mode." I got as far as assigning each row a unique class by adding a number to the end of it. I have been able to use jQuery to change all of the rows into edit mode, but I need it to be specific to a row. An example row would have classes like name0, price0, and desc0. The next row would go on to classes name1, price1, and desc1 (for the fields that need changed). How can I reference these values and pass them to jQuery so it processes an event on just those elements?

Push a variable into global scope?

We use instantiate and put system critical objects in $GLOBALS for easy access from anywhere (e.g. DB, Cache, User, etc.). We use $GLOBALS so much that it would (yes, really) drop the amount of code quite a bit if I could reference it like $G = &$GLOBALS for a shorthand call. The problem is that, per my experience and several hours of Googling, I have not found any construct in PHP which allows you to 'flag' a var as global, making $GLOBALS first class, and everything else second class. Am I missing something? Is this possible?

Display calculating result in the same page

Hello, I have a table in my php code. In the second column of the table, normally it displays "---", and after i click the submit button, it will display the calculating result in the same page. For example, <table> <tr><td>1</td><td>---</td></tr> <tr><td>2</td><td>---</td></tr> <tr><td>3</td><td>---</td></tr> </table> And in the same page, it should receive the variables $var1 = $_POST['variable1']; I'm not sure which way to use, ajax or javascript or just css? How to find specific row in MySQL query result?

So I do this to retrieve my entire table: $result = mysql_query( 'SELECT * FROM mytable' ); Then, in another part of my PHP-page, I do another query (for a specific row): $result2 = mysql_query( 'SELECT * FROM mytable WHERE id = ' . $id ); $row = mysql_fetch_array( $result2 ); So, I'm performing two querys. However, I don't really have to do that, do I? I mean, the row that I'm retrieving in my second query already is present in $result (the result of my first query), since it contains my entire table. Therefore, instead of doing the second query, I would like to extract the desired row from $result directly (while keeping $result itself in tact). How would I do that? Turkish characters are not displayed correctly

how to determine if forum has new posts

Hey, i am coding a small php forum from scratch and would like to show readers what posts he hasnt read yet and what forum categories have unread posts since this visit, pretty much how phpbb or invision boards work. How do i approach this, cookies? phpbb doesnt seem to use cookies for this, not very a good idea do have a cookie for each post... maybe use css visited attribute? but i dont see how would that work if a new post pops up. How to pass extra variables in URL with Wordpress

I am having trouble trying to pass an extra variable in the url to my wordpress installation. For example /news?c=123 For some reason, it works only on the website root www.example.com?c=123 but it does not work if the url contains any more information www.example.com/news?c=123. A client is looking for a custom web application, which will eventually include lots of interconnected components, but the main features are: Subscription based membership as well as virtual/digital product sales Members have their own public web cookie-cutter directories (e.g., storefronts, pages, etc.) and personal member admin area. Site administrators will need both common tools (member admin, password changes, etc.) and custom tools that can be readily developed or integrated with 3rd party solutions. What frameworks should we be looking at? PHP/MySQL is preferable unless something really outstanding is available in another stack.

is there a way to show what field you updated in mysql?

When users edit their account, I want to display a confirmation page that shows their updated information with the fields that they changed in bold. Is there a mysql statement that allows you to select the fields that a user changes? If not, how exactly can I achieve this Ex: (editaccount.php) first_name: bob last_name: builder email: [email protected] When they change say their first name to "james", the confirmation page shows their first name in bold because they changed that but the other areas are still normal text. first_name: <b>James</b> last_name: builder email: [email protected]

What is the best to format messages for queueing?

I've been reading up on message queueing lately, and I'd like to implement a simple, extendable, system for my app. While there's a lot of good information on the subject of setting up a MQ system out there, I can't find a lot about the actual implementation. I'm looking for patterns and best practices on how to properly format messages for a queue, and ways to execute the jobs in PHP. Should I use JSON, serialized objects, text, URLs or XML? What information should I send? Is a worker with a switch($job['command']) {} (or something like that) the way to go, or are there any established patterns out there to implement a worker? Help greatly appreciated!

How can I sqldump a huge database?

SELECT count(*) from table gives me 3296869 rows. The table only contains 4 columns, storing dropped domains. I tried to dump the sql through: $backupFile = $dbname . date("Y-m-d-H-i-s") . '.gz'; $command = "mysqldump --opt -h $dbhost -u $dbuser -p $dbpass $dbname | gzip > $backupFile"; However, this just dumps an empty 20 KB gzipped file. My client is using shared hosting so the server specs and resource usage aren't top of the line. I'm not even given ssh access or access directly to the database so I have to make queries through PHP scripts I upload via FTP ( SFTP isn't an option, again ). Is there some way I can perhaps sequentially download portions of it, or pass an argument to mysqldump that will optimize it? I came across http://jeremy.zawodny.com/blog/archives/000690.html which mentions the -q flag and tried that but it didn't seem to do anything differently.

So first i want to select in binder the binder i need to get the tablesname where data is stored. So i need to select table by a fieldname in this case the fieldname is tableid1 and would have the content 21 so that i have to look in 21. AND it should be property 1 from table 456 and table 21 the same... i am using php and already tried with union and subquerys but it seems that i am to silly to prepare such query!

Hello I'm trying to teach myself Drupal and I've found something I can't find any tutorials for. I am trying to generate a form, with a dynamic number of text fields, to populate and edit the contents of my custom table. How to make a page print to printer just once

I have a basic html page generated through php and it prints to a printer after a link click using Ben Nadel's print plugin. However, I don't want the user to print the page again. I tried setting the 'print' link to a negative z-index using jquery after it's being clicked, but the user can refresh the page and reuse the link so it would print again. I also know that I can somehow disable the refresh feature, by modifying what F5 does, but that would't save the day since the user can refresh the page through the url bar, and I can't remove/hide, it as much as I know. It also runs on localhost so the user client and server are on the same side. Even the browser doesn't matter since I could use the one that fits this case.

Test/expand my email regex

I'm really not confident with Regex, I know some basic syntax but not enough to keep me happy. I'm trying to build a regular expression to check if an email is valid. So far here's what I've got: [A-Za-z0-9._-]+@[A-Za-z0-9]+.[A-Za-z.]+ It needs to take account of periods in the username/domain and I think it works with multiple TLDs (e.g. co.uk). I'm working with the preg engine in PHP so it needs to work with that. Thanks if you can help!

Understanding Incrementing

For example this: var a = 123; var b = a++; now a contains 124 and b contains 123 I understand that b is taking the value of a and then a is being incremented. However, I don't understand why this is so. The principal reason for why the creators of JavaScript would want this. Is this really more useful than doing it the PHP way? What is the advantage to this other than confusing newbies?

Why FILTER_VALIDATE_URL return FALSE for only this url?

How do I remove specific numbers from a string?

I have this string in PHP Hopelessly Incredible |SPG:M| 766 STEAM_0:1:20130600 " banned "A Blatantly Obvious Hacker 740 STEAM_0:1:55386073 " (minutes "0") (reason "Multi-Hack") The Format of the string is: Name1 Number(0-3 digits) Steam_0:x:xxxx offense (banned/kicked/mute etc) Name2 Number(0-3 digits) Steam_0:x:xxxx time reason My goal is to remove the values 766 and 740 because it is just garbage. Those values can have single, double, and triple digits. The next step would be to strip STEAM_0:1:20130600 and STEAM_0:1:55386073 out of the string and capture it in a new variable. The only constant is STEAM_0: the rest can change. I am still learning regex but I fear this is a bit complicated for me to do. Some guidance would be most appreciative.

hi, right now, i code custom wordpress theme and testing it in xampp windows XP on apache server. But as long as i concern, there's no wp build-in function to identify the code environment. Is there's any PHP build-in function to identify such thing ? for the record, what i want to code need to read a directory. in my apache (in windows), the path will be c:/xampp/htdocs where apache on linux will be \somepath\somepath\ so, is there any code solution to know what is the OS environment without i have to compare the path ? i hope it will also work on other OS with other webserver then APACHE such as IIS
