  • JSON-P and a GET resource?

    - by user246114
    Hi, If a website operating on a domain other than my own supports get requests, like: http://api.someothersite.com/v1/farms There's no way for me to access it using JSON-P right, they would have to have support for it as a query parameter? Something like: http://api.someothersite.com/v1/farms?callback=fantastic I mean, there's no way for me to use it without them explicitly supporting it, right? Thanks

  • Can I declare the same value for two attributes at once

    - by graphicdivine
    For example, for accessibility reasons I want my onfocus and onmouseover to have identical values. For the sake of maintainability I want to declare this once only. What I'd like to be able to do is this: <a onmouseover,onfocus="assist('hello');">linktext</a> But, of course, that would be too easy, and doesn't work. What's the best way I can achieve this DRYing out of my tags?

  • Firefox running infinitely even after condition met in jquery function

    - by Kyle
    The following function is called with setTimeout(function () { get_progress(fileID,fileName)},8000); upon a form submit. The purpose of the function is to get read_file.php to read a txt file that stores the file upload status from a form (in percentage). Upon reaching 80%, my Firefox seems to run infinitely even when HEAD returns an error. Am I have too many recursions or have I used a wrong condition that's causing get_progress to run repeatedly even when filename does not exist in the folder ? function get_progress( fileID, filename) { $.ajax({ url: filename, type: 'HEAD', success: function() { $.ajax({ type: 'POST', url: 'read_file.php', data: 'filename=' +filename, success: function(html) { document.getElementById(fileID).innerHTML = html + ' <img src="images/loading.gif" />' setInterval(function() {get_progress(fileID,filename)},4000); } }); } });}

  • Is this correct about ajax POST?

    - by Tommy
    Could you confirm I understand this correctly. Using POST, the file specified in xmlhttp.open("GET","ajax_test.asp",true); will not be cached (sent to \Temporary Internet Files) ? It will stay on the server only? If this is true, is the updated html file after calling ajax POST, being updated in the \Temporary Internet Files ? Am I missing any other important information of this mechanism? Thank You.

  • Hide Dynamically Added Columns/Fields

    - by baldwingrand
    I have some dynamically created rows/columns. What I'd like to do is set a section of it (txtOffsetID) to be hidden. I tried this: txtOffsetID.setAttribute('type', 'hidden'); but it didn't work. I want to hide that entire column and any new columns added. I need it to work in IE. Thanks. Sample code: function addNewOffsetItem() { var iX = document.getElementById("txtOffsetIndex").value; iX ++; document.getElementById("txtOffsetIndex").value = iX; var tbl = document.getElementById("tblOffsetDetail").getElementsByTagName("TBODY")[0]; var tr = document.createElement("TR"); tbl.appendChild(tr); //This section should be hidden. //txtOffsetID1 var tdID = document.createElement("TD"); tr.appendChild(tdID); var p = document.createElement("P"); tdID.appendChild(p); var txtOffsetID = document.createElement("input"); p.appendChild(txtOffsetID); txtOffsetID.id = "txtOffsetID" + iX; txtOffsetID.setAttribute('name','txtOffsetID' + iX); //This section should be visible. //txtOffsetComments1 var tdComments = document.createElement("TD"); tr.appendChild(tdComments); var p = document.createElement("P"); tdComments.appendChild(p); var txtOffsetComments = document.createElement("textarea"); p.appendChild(txtOffsetComments); txtOffsetComments.id = "txtOffsetComments" + iX; txtOffsetComments.setAttribute('name','txtOffsetComments' + iX); }

  • Disable redirect in fb:request-form Send/Cancel button

    - by Colossal Paul
    How do I disable the redirect in Facebook's invite form? <fb:serverfbml style="width: 600px; height: 650px;"> <script type="text/fbml"> <fb:request-form action="index.php" method="POST" invite="true" type="MyApp" content="Please have a look. <fb:req-choice url='http://apps.facebook.com/myapp/' label='View Now!' />"> <div class="clearfix" style="padding-bottom: 10px;"> <fb:multi-friend-selector condensed="true" style="width: 600px;" /> </div> <fb:request-form-submit /> </fb:request-form> After selecting friends, you will see the final Send Invite dialog with your template.   • Coffeescript getting proper scope from callback method

    - by pandabrand
    I've searched for this and can't seem to find an successful answer, I'm using a jQuerey ajax call and I can't get the response out to the callback. Here's my coffeescript code: initialize: (@blog, @posts) -> _url = @blog.url _simpleName = _url.substr 7, _url.length _avatarURL = exports.tumblrURL + _simpleName + 'avatar/128' $.ajax url: _avatarURL dataType: "jsonp" jsonp: "jsonp" (data, status) => handleData(data) handleData: (data) => console.log data @avatar = data Here's the compiled JS: Blog.prototype.initialize = function(blog, posts) { var _avatarURL, _simpleName, _url, _this = this; this.blog = blog; this.posts = posts; _url = this.blog.url; _simpleName = _url.substr(7, _url.length); _avatarURL = exports.tumblrURL + _simpleName + 'avatar/128'; return $.ajax({ url: _avatarURL, dataType: "jsonp", jsonp: "jsonp" }, function(data, status) { return handleData(data); }); }; Blog.prototype.handleData = function(data) { console.log(data); return this.avatar = data; }; I've tried a dozen variations and I can't figure out how to write this? Thanks.

  • Reiterate over a jQuery plugin's this.each()

    - by eth0
    Hi, I'm making a plugin and one of the options is a standard callback. I want the user to be able to re-run the jQuery plugin's this.each() which basically re-runs the plugin, for example; callback: function(){ // some code to rerun the plugin here after 10 seconds } I know I can do this like so: $(this).plugin_name(); but it won't contain any of the options I've specified. Any help would be appreciated.

  • Need help with some functions and variables

    - by Doug
    function createXMLHTTP() { xmlhttp = =new XMLHttpRequest(); return xmlhttp; } I'm trying to create 3 instances of this, but it all has the same variable name which is xmlhttp. How can I dynamically create different variable names? I'm not sure if that's the right way to ask the question. I want to create like xmlhttp1, xmlhttp2, xmlhttp3, so then I can reference each one.

  • JS window.close() let IE hang

    - by p4bl0.666
    Hi all, for reason I won't bore you with, I'm writing an asp.net application that must open some pages in new browser windows. I managed to open them within a postback (don't ask why, I just needed to) with this code: script = String.Format(@"window.open(""{0}"", ""{1}"");", url, target); ScriptManager.RegisterStartupScript(page, typeof(Page), "Redirect", script, true); Now I have new windows each one with a button that should close it. I have simply an onclick="window.close()" (but that prompts me when I'm closing the browser) or window.open('','_self','');window.close() (horrible, I agree but it's the only way I found to avoid the JS prompt) On firefox it works perfectly but on IE7 (the browser our customers have) after 2-3 times I use that button to close the window I can't open other windows (in both cases, with or without the JS prompt). With the method above it does nothing, and with a <a href="mypage.aspx" target="_blank">click me</a> a new window is opened but hangs on loading (it doesn't even calls the Page_Load). What could be the cause? How can I solve this? Thank you.
