• IWshShortcut Target Resolution in Windows 7

  I've got some code to read shortcuts using the Windows Script Host, but it appears to have a problem in Windows 7. When reading shortcuts, if there is an environment variable in the target path, it resolves to the wrong drive. For example, the shortcut to Notepad resolves to D:\Windows\system32\notepad.exe instead of C:\Windows\system32\notepad.exe. The problem is not with my computer's settings, because the shortcut works just fine, and when looking at the value for %SystemRoot%, it shows C:\Windows. Any ideas as to what could be the problem, or alternatively, what a different method of reading shortcuts would be? Thanks, Dan

• Version Control for developers new to source control

  I've been writing code for a few years now and our backup strategy has been to zip the entire code directory up every few days and put it somewhere else on your hard drive, or occasionally upload it to some online file hosting service. Unfortunately the file hosting service got canceled without telling me and we lost years of backups. It's come down to the point where I finally have to learn to use version control. The only problems are My boss really doesn't like SVN, he tried it and it had a high learning curve (at least his client). We need a reliable place to host it (we can pay a reasonable amount). Can someone suggest what may be the best version control system and client for a newbie which won't be too annoying. Second what is a good remote version control service?

• iPhone modalView unwanted offset

  Hey, I have a UITabBarController with three view controllers (from three different types). On one of the view controllers, I want to display a modalViewController. Once a UIButton on the screen is pressed, I perform this action: AboutViewController *modalViewController = [[AboutViewController alloc] initWithNibName:@"AboutScreen" bundle:nil]; [self presentModalViewController:modalViewController animated:YES]; like I always do in order to display a modal view... The problem is, that while the modal view is being displayed (while it is moving from the bottom of the screen), a 20 pixels grey strip is showing on the bottom of the screen (the same size as the status bar on the top). Once the modal view reaches its final location, the strip disappears. Needless to say this doesn't look good (to say the least). Does anybody know why this may happen? Thanks,

  Hi all, I'm creating a centralised web product, i.e. a customer gets assigned a personal domain, for example company1.example.com or company2.example.com and can then use our service. I'm planning to integrate a jabber service into the website. I have already found a decent jabber client library which I can use for the site. I know that jabberd2 uses mysql, which is perfect because I want to use the web interface to add users, delete users, view message logs etc. However, my problem is when I have two companies or more. I would like a jabber server which can host multiple domains, i.e. jabber.company1.example.com, jabber.company2.example.com Do you have any experience of this? And do you know of a good jabber server which will do this? Any help would be hugely appreciated!

  Error: ('IM002', '[IM002] [unixODBC][Driver Manager]Data source name not found, and no default driver specified (0) (SQLDriverConnectW)') I'm migrating from developing on a windows development machine to linux machine in production and I'm having issues with the freetds driver. As far as I can tell that error message means it can't find the driver. I can connect via the cli via sqsh and tsql. I've setup my settings.py as such. 'bc2db': { 'ENGINE': 'sql_server.pyodbc', 'NAME': 'DataTEST', 'USER': 'appuser', 'PASSWORD': 'PASS', 'HOST': 'bc2.domain.com', 'options': { 'driver': 'FreeTDS', } }, Does anyone have any mssql experience with djano? do I have to use a dns?   I am new to python and just downloaded it today. I am using it to work on a web spider, so to test it out and make sure everything was working, I downloaded a sample code. Unfortunately, it does not work and gives me the error: "AttributeError: 'MyShell' object has no attribute 'loaded' " I am not sure if the code its self has an error or I failed to do something correctly when installing python.   So, I have this view hierarchy in my app: UIWindow UIViewController UITabBarController -> 4 UINavigationController I know that a UITabBarController is designed to be the topmost view in an app, however this isn't possible in my case. However, the problem that I have is that ~20 of the lower pixels aren't responsive for touches so that the UITabBarController doesn't trigger the tab changes correctly. This happens on an actual device (iPad and iPhone 3G). My question is, are there any obvious reasons why this could happen? I add the UITabBarController like this as subview to my UIViewController view: - (void)viewDidLoad { [super viewDidLoad]; [self.view addSubview:controller.view]; // Controller is the UITabBarController } I didn't set the UITabBarController's delegate.

  Hello Is thare any quickstart guide for programmers for writing DSP-accelerated appliations for TMS320C64x? I have a program with custom algorythm (not the fft, or usial filtering) and I want to accelerate it using multi-DSP coprocessor. So, how should I modify source to move computation from main CPU to DSPs? What limitations are there for DSP-running code? I have some experience with CUDA. In CUDA I should mark every function as being host, device, or entry point for device (kernel). There are also functions to start kernels and to upload/download data to/from GPU. There are also some limitations, for device code, described in CUDA Reference manual. I hope, there is an similar interface and a documentation for DSP.

  I am writing some Selenium tests and I need to be able to find an ancestor of a WebElement that I have already found. To discover the problem, i've tried changin my web.config, adding "trust level='Medium'". But i get an error when i try to access godaddy mysql server with the mysql connector. Any ideas ? I've got in working in a blank, default view application from X-Code, but in none of my applications will it work, instead it gives me the following error.   I seem to have run into a bit of an issue. I am busy creating an app, and over the last few weeks setup my server to use Git, mod_wsgi to host this app. Since deploying it, everything seems to be running smoothly however, I had to go through all my files and insert the absolute url of the project to make sure it works fine. on my local machine from registration.models import UserRegistration on server from myapp.registration.models import UserRegistration Am I doing something wrong? And this has also caused an issue for me where I cannot access my django admin interface.   Hello, I am trying to understand this simple hashlib code in Python that has been given to me the other day on "Stackoverflow": import hashlib m = hashlib.md5() m.update("Nobody inspects") m.update(" the spammish repetition here") m.digest() '\xbbd\x9c\x83\xdd\x1e\xa5\xc9\xd9\xde\xc9\xa1\x8d\xf0\xff\xe9' m.digest_size 16 m.block_size 64 print m I thought that "print m" would show me the MD5 digest of the phrase: "Nobody inspects the spammish repetition here", but as a result I got this line on my local host: <md5 HASH object @ 01806220> Strange, when I refreshed the page, I got another line: <md5 HASH object @ 018062E0> and every time when I refresh it, I get another value: md5 HASH object @ 017F8AE0 md5 HASH object @ 01806220 md5 HASH object @ 01806360 md5 HASH object @ 01806400 md5 HASH object @ 01806220 Why is it so? I guess, what I have in each line flowing "@" is not really a digest. Then, what is it? And how can I display MD5 digest here in this code?   I have javascript inside a .wsf file and I'm getting the error: C:\bin\LDLSInfo.wsf(53, 34) Windows Script Host: Cannot retrieve referenced URL: S:\tools\JScript\lib\StandardWSH.js At line 53, it says <script language="JScript" src="S:\tools\JScript\lib\StandardWSH.js"/> I know that LDLSInfo.wsf (the main script) and StandardWSH.js (the script to load) both work fine, because I've ran them from a different machine. It works fine on one machine and not on the other, both are Windows 7 x64 computers. So I'm thinking I'm missing some .dll's. Thanks for the help, -jb

  I'm building a few SharePoint sites, and I want to make use of zones so I may set security different in the various zones. My workstation has a local SharePoint, and I use it for development. My workstation has a static IP, and is connected to the internet. When I make a SharePoint site, I want to add a host header, for instance, devbox.com. I do not own this name, nor do I want to. I then add an entry in my hosts file, but when I surf to http://devbox.com:8080, it does not resolve. Do I need to register the name I want to use, or should this work, i.e., have my hosts file resolve names/IPs first?

• ASP.Net MVC per area membership

  I am building an ASP.Net MVC app that will run on a shared hosting account to host multiple domains. I started with the default template that includes membership and created an mvc area for each domain. Routing is set up to point to the correct area depending on the domain the request is for. Now I would like to set up membership specific to each mvc area. I tried the obvious first and attempted to override the section of the web.config for each area to change the applicationName attribute of the provider. That doesn't work since the area is not set up as an application root. Is there an easy way to separate the users for each area?
