• Best Open Source Project Hosting Site

  I want to start an open source project, but the rise in hosting sites leaves me a little paralyzed with choice. I know a little about several: I never really liked SourceForge's UI but it still feels like the site I think of when I think "open source project hosting". Google Code Project Hosting looks clean and useful but doesn't seem as feature complete as SourceForge. I've heard good things about Launchpad but don't know much about it nor do I know Bazaar (though I'd be interested in learning it). I know almost nothing about GitHub and, like Bazaar, I don't know Git. Does anyone have any experience with these sites or some other cool code host? Any recommendations? • Lightbox for embeddable JavaScript widget? Like Feedback tabs for UserVoice/GetSatisfaction

  There are so many lightboxes to choose from, I'm looking for a very lightweight one to use in an embedded javascript widget that would be used on a number of different web sites. This would work in a similar way to the GetSatisfaction/UserVoice feedback tab. Here are the requirements for the lightbox: Very small javascript download (animation not needed) Self contained, not dependent on any libraries such as jquery, etc. Works in major browsers Lightbox displays HTML content from a given URL Close button (like GetSatisfaction or UserVoice) Dims background Avoids javascript namespace conflicts (or can easily be made to avoid them) CSS styling of lightbox does not interfere with site styling Have you used an existing lightbox scripts for this same purpose with similar requirements? • USB enumeration failure in ColdFire MCF52259

  Anybody with programming experience on the ColdFire line, please help! I'm using the CMX USB-Lite stack with the ColdFire MCF52259. For some reason, USB enumeration fails at the very first step, as soon as I enable the DP pull-up resistor. This is what I'm doing :- INT_ENB, OTG_INT_EN, ERR_ENB are set to 0x0 INT_STAT, OTG_INT_STAT and ERR_STAT are set to 0xff (This should clear all interrupts) In the Interrupt Status Register, bits 0 (Mask All) and 53 are made 0, all others are 1. TOK_DNE, USB_RST and STALL interrupts are enabled in INT_ENB. BDT base address is set. MCF_USB_CTL holds 0x1 PROBLEM: After the host issues the first reset (at which point I enable Control endpoint 0), instead of the expected Get Descriptor request I'm getting an endless series of resets. At least, that's what it looks like, because the TOK_DNE interrupt never triggers. Is there anything I'm doing wrong?

• Stress Test tool for Password Protected Website

  We need to run a stress test on a password protection section of a website we host. What tool (paid or free) would be best for us to use for this? We'd like to be able to create several 'scripts' and then have the stress test simulate X number of users. Each script will have us login as a specific user and then click on some links and submit forms to simulate an actual user. Ideally the software would also create some nice data exports/charts. Server is a linux web server, but we could run this on linux or Windows so software that will run on either is fine.

• Release another user's lock obtained with sp_getapplock on SQL Server

  We have a system that uses sp_getapplock to create an exclusive mutex any time someone opens an order in the GUI. This is used to prevent multiple people from making changes to an order simultaneously. Sometimes people will open an order and go home, leaving it open. This effectively blocks anyone from being able to make changes to the order. I then get emails, calls and end up doing a kill <spid> in enterprise manager. Obviously I've gotten sick of this and want to make a quick self-service webform. The main problem I've run into is that kill requires sysadmin privileges, which I do not want to give to the user that the our website runs as. I have tried sp_releaseapplock but this doesn't let you release another user's lock (even when calling it as a sysadmin). So, finally my question; does anyone know of an alternative method to release a lock that was obtained by another user using sp_getapplock?

• How can I prompt for input using Selenium/Webdriver and use the result?

Is there any way of showing an input box to the user, and use the value typed there? • Detecting rotation to landscape manually

  hi all, I am working on an iPhone application based on UITabBarController and UIViewControllers for each page. The app needs to run in portrait mode only, so every view controller + app delegate goes with this line of code: (BOOL)shouldAutorotateToInterfaceOrientation: (UIInterfaceOrientation)interfaceOrientation { return (interfaceOrientation == UIInterfaceOrientationPortrait); } There is one view controller where I would like to pop up a UIImageView when the iPhone is rotaed to landscapeleft. The design of the image looks landscape, although the width and height are 320x460 ( so its portrait ). How can/should I detect this type of rotation manually, just in this specific view controller, withouth having an auto rotation on the entire view? Thomas UPDATE: Thanks! • Memory leak using (void) alloc

  I have seen a similar line of code floating about in Apples code: (void)[[URLRequest alloc] initializeRequestWithValues:postBody url:verifySession httpHeader:nil delegate:self]; URLRequest is my own custom class. I didn't write this and I think the guy that did just grabbed it from Apple's example. To me this should leak and when I test it I'm pretty sure it leaks 16 bytes. Would it? I know how to fix it if it does but wasn't sure as it was taken from Apple's code.

• The accossoryView of a UITableViewCell disappears after the visible view is changed

  Hi! I'm experiencing this strange situation. I have a UITableView where, when the user selects a cell, a long (network) process begins. So, I performed this in a background thread and I placed (in the didSelectRowAtIndexPath) a UIActivityIndicatorView as the accessory view. This is what I wrote: UITableViewCell* cell = [self.tableView cellForRowAtIndexPath:indexPath]; UIActivityIndicatorView* activityView = [[UIActivityIndicatorView alloc] initWithActivityIndicatorStyle:UIActivityIndicatorViewStyleWhite]; cell.accessoryView = activityView; [activityView startAnimating]; [activityView release]; everything seems to work correctly, except that, if during a loading process (when the indicator is animated), I switch the view using a UITabBar, when I go back to the UITableView, the UIActivityIndicatorView that should still be there has disappeared. Any idea of what I did wrong? Thanks!

  I have a need for some C or C++ code, compilable under Linux, to be able to take a list of IP addresses of some arbitrary number of remote hosts machines and obtain a ethernet MAC address for each one. These host machines may be on the same subnet or they could be on a different subnet behind a router. Its OK if the MAC address of some or all of the remote hosts is the address of the interface on the router. Ultimately, I want to hand off the IP address and MAC address to an FPGA who will use these pieces of information to format and send UDP/IP packets over ethernet to the hosts. Obviously, the FPGA will also be given its own MAC address and IP address to fill in the source MAC and source IP addresses in the packets. Is there some code I can be pointed to that can create and broadcast ARP packets to these remote machines and receive back the ARP response packets such that the destination MAC addresses can be extracted?

When you select the button, the button itself does a flip animation. • iPhone landscape navigation back action shows vertical view transition?

  I have a regular UINavigationController and I push a series of UIViewController into the stack. The view transition for push controller is horizontal animation transition: [self.navigationController pushViewController:controller animated:YES]; However, when I press the Back button on the navigation bar, the view transition animation is vertical (vertically dropping down the previous controller/view). I don't seem to find any way to make this horizontal. This happens only in Landscape mode. Portrait mode the transition all happens as horizontal flip transition. Can anyone shed any light on this?   Hello! I would like to know if somebody knows free custom nice controls for .NET Compact Framework 2.0. There are nice controls as Manila Interface SDK (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=566188), Sense Interface SDK (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=648906) and so on for free, but they work only on .NET CF 3.5. Furthermore, there are others that you have to pay for them and for .NET CF 2.0 and 3.5 (Resco or Touch Control Suite). And there is one called Fluid (http://fluid.codeplex.com/) but it's so complicated, there are not exactly controls (are classes added to a host control) and there is not much documentation to work with it. Any nice controls for free and working in .NET CF 2.0? And with list sliders if it's possible? Thanks!

  Hello All, My Application is crashing due to low memory [ Received memory warning level 1 + 2] To trace this I have used Instrument and come with following points Test Enviorment : Single view controller added on Window When I don't use UIImageView Real Memory is used 3.66 MB When I uses UIImageView with Image having size 25 KB : Real Memory is used 4.24 MB. almost 560 KB extra when compare to w/o UIImageView and which keep on adding as I am adding more UIImageview on the view. below is sample code for adding UIImageview which I am refering UIImageView* iSplashImage = [[UIImageView alloc] initWithImage:[UIImage imageNamed:@"Default-Landscape.png"]]; iSplashImage.frame = CGRectMake(0, 0, 320, 480); [self.window addSubview:iSplashImage]; AND dealloc if(iSplashImage) { [iSplashImage release]; iSplashImage = nil; } Issue is this 560 KB is not getting release and after some time application receives low memory warning. • Why won't my UISearchDisplayController fire the shouldReloadTableForSearchString method when I enter

  I've been following Apple's TableSearch code example, but it's not working for me and I think I'm doing everything the same way they did it. The method below should be fired whenever the user types anything into the search box, but it never gets fired for me, just on the sample app. I have the appropriate @interface ContactsTableVC : UITableViewController { in the header file. I'm not sure what I'm missing or where else to look. My NSLog never gets called. • How can I get FreeNAS to respond to libvirt shutdown requests

  I have a KVM VM of FreeNAS 0.7.1 Shere (revision 5127) running on Ubuntu Server 10.04 and I'm unable to convince the VM to shutdown from the host virsh shutdown freenas I would expect this to send some ACPI? trigger to the VM and FreeNAS then do what it's told. • Small web-framework like Sinatra, Ramaze etc in .NET

  Are there any similar frameworks like Sinatra, Ramaze etc in .NET? I'm in theory after a framework that let's me create an entire webapp with just one classfile (conceptually) like Sinatra. I'm going to use it for something work-internal, where ASP.NET MVC is too "big" (and I get confused by it's usage) and I have WebForms up to my ears right now (doing a big webforms based project, currently hating it ;) ) Any suggestions? Oh, and I need to be able to host it in IIS. I would go for IronRuby with Sinatra, but I can't find a step-by-step tut for setting it up in IIS ;)
