    just got HP DV6-6145dx Notebook: - AMD Quad-Core A8-3500M Accelerated Processor - 8GB DDR3 SDRAM - AMD Radeon HD 6620G well i removed every thing that related to windows " system, hidden partitions " so that i wont need them. so, i tried to install ubuntu 12.04 64bit and i got a lot of error and crashes -- gives me that ubuntu has an error "executable bath" from the beginning after boot -- other one that said ubuntu installation process crashed and some times the words converted to squares and can't continuing the installation process at all on the other hand i tried the 32bit version, and every thing went smoothly need your help thanks

    I installed Ubuntu 11.10 on my HP laptop and among some problems, one of which I'm trying to solve is the touchpad problem. It's working, but how can I turn on/off it? In SUSE Linux Enterprise Desktop (which was preinstalled) and Windows, the touchpad is enabled/disabled by touching the left upper corner, when small diode is situated. In Ubuntu, I touched that area many times, but nothing happened. Do anybody know how to solve the problem?

  • Suspend not working after kernel update on an HP Envy14 1050

    I just update ubuntu 12.04 to the kernel 3.2.0-30 and together with it a lot of packeges in the system. I am running it on an HP Envy14 1050. When I first made a fresh install of the clean ubuntu 12.04 I had the problem that when restoring from suspend the screen was black, although some backlight was there. I could fix it following this https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/989674/comments/20. Now, after the update the black screen after suspend has reappeared but with no backlight at all and the led in the caps lock key blinking. The laptop is using a ATI radeon 5600 with the privative drivers. During the update process there was an error with depmod . You can see the /var/log/dist-upgrade/apt-term.log file at the end. UPDATE: suspend is not working at all. The problem is not when restoring from suspend, but when I try to suspend the system it gets blocked and the fan running. Only option is to press power button. Hp has only Vista drivers and no Windows 7 drivers yet : link and link The main issues after installing Windows 7 is that the graphics card (Nvidia GeForce Go 6150) and the coprocessor are not detected.The latest 191.07 GeForce/ION Driver installer says that it cannot find any compatible hardware by the way, i still haven't been able to get Xp running on this . The Nvidia GeForce Go 6150 driver seems to be customized by HP !! If you install the laptopvideo2go.com/ drivers on Xp(after MS nags that it can't verify the publisher of the driver) , it shows the blue screen of death. Is there a way to debug the BSOD ?

  • Why are people trying to connect to me network on TCP port 445?

    I was playing with my new syslog server and had my m0n0wall firewall logs forwarded as a test, I noticed a bunch of recent firewall log entries that say that it blocked other WAN IPs from my ISP (I checked) from connecting to me on TCP port 445. Why would a random computer be trying to connect to me on a port apperently used for Windows SMB shares? Just internet garbage? A port scan?     I'm trying to setup nginx webserver with Passenger support for Ruby on Rails application on Ubuntu 10.04 (on sub URI). All went fine until I tried to access the server/application from the browser. My instalation of nginx is in location /opt/nginx # my nginx.conf server { listen 80; server_name www.mydomain.com; root /websites/site/public; passenger_enabled on; passenger_base_uri /site; location / { # added by default, I don't know if its supposed to be here or not root html; index index.html index.htm; } Then I started the server. But when I put www.mydomain.com/site in browser I get 404 Not Found error.   • ios7 loops on the "trust this computer" dialog

    trying to transfer files to the work ipad via my debian7 box.   • HP Laserjet 1320 drivers for Windows 7

    Background I replaced som XP computers with Win 7 computers. We have a HP Laserjet 1320dn printer attached to the LAN. The XP computers could print to it from Word in duplex mode without any issues. Problem The Win 7 computers downloaded a full set of drivers including a "HP Laserjet 1320 PCL5" driver. However using this, Word's page footers cause extra pages to be printed with just a letter or so at a time from the footer. Some other apps have similar issues. I also have an ancient Laserjet 1200 attached to the LAN via a Jetdirect box and that works just fine. So I don't think the problem is with Word (the computers came with Word 2010 starter). What I tried I wrangled the control-panel new printer dialogue into using a "HP Laserjet 2100 PS" driver for the HP Laserjet 1320dn. Now my Word documents print as they should. However I don't have a duplex option on the print dialogue. I'd really like to be able to use duplex printing. Question Windows used to have a Universal Postscript driver that read a Postscript Printer Definition (PPD) file to make the printer's features available (tray choice, duplex etc). I can't see any way to do this in Windows 7. Is there a way? Is there any other way I can get Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit to print properly to a HP Laserjet 1320dn and have access to all it's major features? Addendum: My page in Word looks like this: +--------------------+ | aa bb cc | | | | lorem ipsum dolor | | | ... | | | pp qq rr | +--------------------+ The headers and footers were inserted using Insert - header - blank (3 column). When printed I get 1 page with aa, bb, cc, pp in correct position (no other text) 1 blank page 1 page with qq in correct position (no other text) 1 blank page 1 page with rr in correct position (no other text) 1 blank page 1 page with lorem ipsum dolor in correct position (no headers or footers) If I use a Laserjet 2100 driver I get 1 correct page.
