  • mongodb : Can create new thread on FreeBSD?

    - by user197739
We experienced some strange thing in our mongodb gridfs platform. The platform actually is a bi Xeon E5 (bi quad core) with 128GB of memory, running on freebsd 9 with a zfs pool dedicated for mongodb. [root@mongofile1 ~]# uname -sr FreeBSD 9.1-RELEASE our /boot/loader.conf vfs.zfs.arc_min="2048M" vfs.zfs.arc_max="7680M" vm.kmem_size_max="16G" vm.kmem_size="12G" vfs.zfs.prefetch_disable="1" kern.ipc.nmbclusters="32768" /etc/sysctl.conf net.inet.tcp.msl=15000 net.inet.tcp.keepidle=300000 kern.ipc.nmbclusters=32768 kern.ipc.maxsockbuf=2097152 kern.ipc.somaxconn=8192 kern.maxfiles=65536 kern.maxfilesperproc=32768 net.inet.tcp.delayed_ack=0 net.inet.tcp.sendspace=65535 net.inet.udp.recvspace=65535 net.inet.udp.maxdgram=57344 net.local.stream.recvspace=65535 net.local.stream.sendspace=65535 we follow the recommendation for the ulimit : [root@mongofile1 ~]# su - mongodb $ ulimit -a cpu time (seconds, -t) unlimited file size (512-blocks, -f) unlimited data seg size (kbytes, -d) 33554432 stack size (kbytes, -s) 524288 core file size (512-blocks, -c) unlimited max memory size (kbytes, -m) unlimited locked memory (kbytes, -l) unlimited max user processes (-u) 5547 open files (-n) 32768 virtual mem size (kbytes, -v) unlimited swap limit (kbytes, -w) unlimited sbsize (bytes, -b) unlimited pseudo-terminals (-p) unlimited This server have a twin (same config exactly) for ReplSet in other data center and we have a virtualized arbiter. • spurious hardware memory 'errors' on hp dl380 g5's being generated

    - by friedchicken
Hi All, i've got 2 new HP dl380g5 servers running HP's esxi4 patched to 219382. they have both been patched up to the latest hp firmware levels (firmware cd 8.7) both are running 32gb (4 x 8gb sticks) both servers are showing the same symptoms - the memory lights come on for two (random) dimms on the front of the server and the health led turns red. sometimes the server stays up and running with no problems. othertimes the server locks dead and only a power reset can bring it back. there is nothing showing in the ilo logs and nothing within the vmware hardware monitoring. the memory has been replaced i've got other customers that have been running dl380g5's with out any issues on esx3.5 - this is our first vsphere deployment with them. these are meant to go live soon so any advice would be great. thanks in advance.

  • Windows 2003 SP1 terminal server printers Disappear after reboot - HP laserjet 4240

    - by Alex
had working PCL6 laserjet 4240 driver. needed to downgrade to PCl5, tried but did not get clean install. tried again and it seemed to work (this is 2003 enterprise terminal server SP2) Have over 40 working laserjets (5, 4000, 4100 and 18 of the 4240) After normal nightly reboot the 18 4240 printers were 'gone'. Worked w/Microsoft who said bad HP driver issues - weird since they work on other terminal servers. downloaded latest version, etc. from HP site and can NOT get to work. As soon as I install, then do a Net Stop Spool and Net Start Spooler the printer is 'gone'. Current workaround is to use HP 4000 PCL5 drivers for all of these 4240 printers.

  • Problem with Ctrl key on a hp 2510p

    - by Ernelli
I have a tricky problem with my corporate Compaq hp 2510p, the ctrl key is not working properly at all times. I belive that it is hooked in some filter chain that processes certain ctrl+[key] combinations which is very annoying. I would like some pointers on how to proceed when analysing what application/setup can can cause this kind of keyboard filtering to happen. Anyway some more background info: Ctrl works together with X, C, V. Both in editors and terminals (Ctrl-C, Z etc) but Ctrl-Shift-Esc and Ctrl-Alt-Del does not work. Very annoying so my only option for logging in us using HP's security app. Shift-Arrow works for selecting text, but not Ctrl-shift arrow to select word by word, but Ctrl-Arrow works when moving the caret word by word. Now the strange thing is that everything works ok with an external USB keyboard so it might be the driver, but still, google yields 0 when searching for the problem description. I have vm-ware player installed (but not running it), HP Protect Tools installed, if any of these could affect the keyboard driver.

  • In Opera 11, how can I set up shortcuts to switch to specific tabs?

    - by gphilip
In Firefox on Linux, we can use Alt+1, Alt+2, etc. to switch to the first, second, etc. tabs, till the 9th tab. This is very useful to switch between tabs. In Opera 11 on Linux, I couldn't find a way to do this: the only way to switch among tabs seems to be to use Ctrl+Tab and then cycle till we reach the tab that we want. Needless to say, this "linear access" method is slower (and more annoying) than the random access available in FF. So my question is: How can I set up shortcuts in Opera 11 on Linux so that I can switch to one of the first nine tabs using a numbered shortcut?

  • Hard drives indication with controller MegaRAID SAS 9261-8i on HP Proliant DL320e Gen8. Is it possible?

    - by ame
Give me advice, please. My situation: There're the server HP ProLiant DL320e Gen8 and MegaRAID SAS 9261-8i RAID Controller. I installed Controller into server and I reconnected Mini-SAS cord from block of hard drives to controller, but I haven't any indication of hard discs on server front panel. There's indication of activity of drives only during boot of server. Controller has 2-pin connector (JT6B3, SAS Activity LED header) but where and how can I connect it? Thanx.

  • How to install hardware drivers for my laptop

    - by John Flisk
Everytime I change the OS I usually format my laptop. It is an HP tx-2 Touchsmart. It has a touchscreen and additional hardware that isn't working (i.e. volume control buttons and the network discovery) If I was on windows I would just download the hardware drivers from the HP website. How do I go about installing the software for the built-in hardware of my laptop? I am new to the community and I really want to get this computer working like it used to, to get the full Ubuntu experience. Please direct me, thank you.

  • Distance Education in Computer Science - HCI

    - by Rionmonster
I have been a software engineer / graphic designer for a few years and have recently been considering furthering my education in the field. (It was actually a very generous Christmas present) I would primarily be interested in something like Human Computer Interaction or a similar "creative technology" that involves heavy UI/UX Design, prototyping or Information Architecture. Anyways - I still plan on working full-time and was looking into part-time distance programs and was wondering if anyone had some experience with pursuing a similar degree (either from a distance or in-person) and could share their experiences. Thanks!

  • Setup of HP ProCurve 2810-24G for iSCSI?

    - by 3molo
Hi, I have a pair of ProCurve 2810-24G that I will use with a Dell Equallogic SAN and Vmware ESXi. Since ESXi does MPIO, I am a little uncertain on the configuration for links between the switches. Is a trunk the right way to go between the switches? I know that the ports for the SAN and the ESXi hosts should be untagged, so does that mean that I want tagged VLAN on the trunk ports? This is more or less the configuration: trunk 1-4 Trk1 Trunk snmp-server community "public" Unrestricted vlan 1 name "DEFAULT_VLAN" untagged 24,Trk1 ip address 10.180.3.1 255.255.255.0 no untagged 5-23 exit vlan 801 name "Storage" untagged 5-23 tagged Trk1 jumbo exit no fault-finder broadcast-storm stack commander "sanstack" spanning-tree spanning-tree Trk1 priority 4 spanning-tree force-version RSTP-operation The Equallogic PS4000 SAN has two controllers, with two network interfaces each. Dell recommends each controller to be connected to each of the switches. From vmware documentation, it seems creating one vmkernel per pNIC is recommended. With MPIO, this could allow for more than 1 Gbps throughput.

  • Using AuthzSVNAccessFile for controlling SVN Access produces HTTP 400 Bad Request

    - by meeper
I have a new repository on an existing subversion server that requires us to perform path based authorization within the repository. I found that the AuthzSVNAccessFile directive in apache is directly responsible for allowing this functionality. After fixing several other problems such as AuthzSVNAccessFile preventing SVNListParentPath from operating properly, I am left with one single problem. I can checkout, I can update, I can commit, BUT I cannot execute an SVN COPY for performing branch/tagging operations. The moment I comment out the AuthzSVNAccessFile line in the Apache config everything works as expected except the obvious path authorizations. Please note that, while yes this is a test repository on a test server, I am experiencing this same issue in this test setup where I have eliminated all other possible causes (mixed repository configurations, externals, etc). I have also confirmed that all files for the repository (/var/svn/authtestbasic) are owned by the Apache user www-data.

  • Why does my ping command (Windows) results alternate between "timeout" and "network is not reachable"?

    - by Sopalajo de Arrierez
My Windows is in Spanish, so I will have to paste console outputs in that language (I think that translating without knowing the exact terms used in english versions could give worse results than leaving it as it appears on screen). This is the issue: when pinging a non-existent IP from a WinXP-SP3 machine (clean Windows install, just formatted), I get sometimes a "Timeout" result, and sometimes a "network is not reachable" message. This is the result of: ping 192.168.210.1 Haciendo ping a 192.168.210.1 con 32 bytes de datos: Tiempo de espera agotado para esta solicitud. Respuesta desde 80.58.67.86: Red de destino inaccesible. DHCP client is enabled, and the computer gets assigned those network config by the router. I can do some aproximate translation of what you demand if necessary. I have another computers in the same network (WinXP-SP3 and Win7-SP1), and they have, too, this problem. Gateway (Router): Buffalo WHR-HP-GN (official Buffalo firmware, not DD-WRT). I have some Linux (Debian/Kali) machine in my network, so I tested things on it: ping 192.168.210.1 PING 192.168.210.1 (192.168.210.1) 56(84) bytes of data. I am posing this question mainly for learning purposes, but there is another reason: when all pings are returning "timeout", it creates an %ERRORLEVEL% value of 1, but if there is someone of "Network is not reachable" type, %ERRORLEVEL% goes to 0 (no error), and this could be inappropriate for a shell script (we can not use ping to detect, for example, if the network is down due to loss of contact with the gateway).

  • Thinking Sphinx not working in test mode

    - by J. Pablo Fernández
I'm trying to get Thinking Sphinx to work in test mode in Rails. Basically this: ThinkingSphinx::Test.init ThinkingSphinx::Test.start freezes and never comes back. My test and devel configuration is the same for test and devel: dry_setting: &dry_setting adapter: mysql host: localhost encoding: utf8 username: rails password: blahblah development: <<: *dry_setting database: proj_devel socket: /tmp/mysql.sock # sphinx requires it test: <<: *dry_setting database: proj_test socket: /tmp/mysql.sock # sphinx requires it and sphinx.yml development: enable_star: 1 min_infix_len: 2 bin_path: /opt/local/bin test: enable_star: 1 min_infix_len: 2 bin_path: /opt/local/bin production: enable_star: 1 min_infix_len: 2 The generated config files, config/development.sphinx.conf and config/test.sphinx.conf only differ in database names, directories and similar things; nothing functional. Generating the index for devel goes without an issue $ rake ts:in (in /Users/pupeno/proj) default config Generating Configuration to /Users/pupeno/proj/config/development.sphinx.conf Sphinx 0.9.8.1-release (r1533) Copyright (c) 2001-2008, Andrew Aksyonoff using config file '/Users/pupeno/proj/config/development.sphinx.conf'... indexing index 'user_core'... collected 7 docs, 0.0 MB collected 0 attr values sorted 0.0 Mvalues, 100.0% done sorted 0.0 Mhits, 99.8% done total 7 docs, 422 bytes total 0.098 sec, 4320.80 bytes/sec, 71.67 docs/sec indexing index 'user_delta'... collected 0 docs, 0.0 MB collected 0 attr values sorted 0.0 Mvalues, nan% done total 0 docs, 0 bytes total 0.010 sec, 0.00 bytes/sec, 0.00 docs/sec distributed index 'user' can not be directly indexed; skipping. but when I try to do it for test it freezes: $ RAILS_ENV=test rake ts:in (in /Users/pupeno/proj) DEPRECATION WARNING: require "activeresource" is deprecated and will be removed in Rails 3. Any ideas where to go from here? I can run the command line manually: /opt/local/bin/indexer --config config/test.sphinx.conf --all which generates the output as the rake ts:in, so no help there.

  • Why can't I connect to a Cisco wireless access point?

    - by spinlock
I'm running a Lucid Netbook Remix on my Dell Inspiron 600m and I was not able to connect to the wireless network at the Hacker Dojo in Mountain View yesterday. There were plenty of other people on the network - MS, Mac, and Linux boxes - but my laptop would never get an ip address. I can connect to my home network, which is open, and I've never had a problem connecting at the coffee shop, which uses WPA. The Hacker Dojo is running WPA and we checked the password a number of times but got no love. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated. • Setting bluetooth passcode on a HP Notebook

    - by Glenn Slaven
I've got a HP Compaq nx6320 & I just installed the HP bluetooth drivers (WinXP) and I'm trying to pair my Samsung Windows Mobile phone with it, but when I do, the phone asks me to enter the passcode for the computer, but I never set one in the install process & I've got no idea how to set it now. Does anyone know where this option is?

  • HP DL380 reboot problems

    - by dvoina
I have recently installed RHEL 5.3 on a HP DL 380 G5. Then I installed HP's PSP(Proliant Support Pack). Since then I cannot reboot the system anymore. The system just stays in "Broadcast message from root (tty0). The system is going for reboot NOW" Neither halt, poweroff, reboot nor init 6 works.

  • Assess BIOS on HP Pavilion xt966

    - by NitroxDM
I'm attempting to change the boot device priority on a older HP. When it starts up it flashes a HP splash screen then just goes black with a blinking caret. I tried the suggestion of leaving it off for 5 sec then hitting F1. No dice. I'm using a USB keyboard. I might grab a PS2 and give it a go. Any other ideas?

  • HP Colour LaserJet Printer Hard Drive

    - by Jon Rhoades
We are struggling to print Student's Theses on our HP CLJ CP4025 Printers (It will only let us print 1 at a time & typically they need multiple copies). Supposedly the solution is to install the optional Hard Drive. My question is: a) Does a hard drive on the printer make a significant difference? b) Can we use any old hard drive or do we have to use the rather pricey HP High performance EIO units?

  • Software to measure power draw of HP Server

    - by tombull89
I'm after some software to measure the power draw of a HP Server, namely a DL360 series. I know Nagios is used for logging and monitering but I'm not sure if it logs power usage as well. I've also tried to find the HP Server Management package but am not sure if this shows power usage either. I'm thinking my best bet would to buy some sort of device that goes inbetween the wall and the servers plug. Can anybody suggest what would do for me?
