  • Multiple classes in body tag, multi-dimensional css structure or blueprint for insanity?

    - by mwiik
    This question is about an approach to css structuring, and so is more discussion oriented. I'm working with some outsourced css where the body tags have multiple classes assigned, up to half a dozen. (To make things a little worse, none of the css selectors include an html tag which is making it confusing to analyze the css.) These body classes are then used to modify classed or id'd widgets within. It seems like this approach is like adding an additional dimension to the css, perhaps in some attempt to create a structured css approach. Documentation might have helped, had we been provided any. This differs from my approach where widgets are styled primarily via id'd divs, perhaps extracting the more generic elements into a class, i.e. div#MyWidget.widgets. Any ideas on whether such an approach is maintainable, especially considering I am dealing with websites with thousands of pages including tons of legacy stuff, all done by different people with different skill levels? Thanks...

  • Why people are so afraid of using clone() (on collection and JDK classes) ?

    - by Bozho
    A number of times I've argued that using clone() isn't such a bad practice. Yes, I know the arguments. Bloch said it's bad. He indeed did, but he said that implementing clone() is bad. Using clone on the other hand, especially if it is implemented correctly by a trusted library, such as the JDK, is OK. Just yesterday I had a discussion about an answer of mine that merely suggests that using clone() for ArrayList is OK (and got no upvotes for that reason, I guess). If we look at the @author of ArrayList, we can see a familiar name - Josh Bloch. So clone() on ArrayList (and other collections) is perfectly fine. (Just look at the implementation). Same goes for Calendar and perhaps most of the java.lang and java.util classes. So, give me a reason why not to use clone() with JDK classes?

  • Self-Configuring Classes W/ Command Line Args: Pattern or Anti-Pattern?

    - by dsimcha
    I've got a program where a lot of classes have really complicated configuration requirements. I've adopted the pattern of decentralizing the configuration and allowing each class to take and parse the command line/configuration file arguments in its c'tor and do whatever it needs with them. (These are very coarse-grained classes that are only instantiated a few times, so there is absolutely no performance issue here.) This avoids having to do shotgun surgery to plumb new options I add through all the levels they need to be passed through. It also avoids having to specify each configuration option in multiple places (where it's parsed and where it's used). What are some advantages/disadvantages of this style of programming? It seems to reduce separation of concerns in that every class is now doing configuration stuff, and to make programs less self-documenting because what parameters a class takes becomes less explicit. OTOH, it seems to increase encapsulation in that it makes each class more self-contained because no other part of the program needs to know exactly what configuration parameters a class might need.

  • How to set a __str__ method for all ctype Structure classes?

    - by Reuben Thomas
    [Since asking this question, I've found: http://www.cs.unc.edu/~gb/blog/2007/02/11/ctypes-tricks/ which gives a good answer.] I just wrote a __str__ method for a ctype-generated Structure class 'foo' thus: def foo_to_str(self): s = [] for i in foo._fields_: s.append('{}: {}'.format(i[0], foo.\_\_getattribute__(self, i[0]))) return '\n'.join(s) foo.\_\_str__ = foo_to_str But this is a fairly natural way to produce a __str__ method for any Structure class. How can I add this method directly to the Structure class, so that all Structure classes generated by ctypes get it? (I am using the h2xml and xml2py scripts to auto-generate ctypes code, and this offers no obvious way to change the names of the classes output, so simply subclassing Structure, Union &c. and adding my __str__ method there would involve post-processing the output of xml2py.)

  • LINQ count query returns a 1 instead of a 0

    - by user335810
    I have the following view:- CREATE VIEW tbl_adjudicator_result_view AS SELECT a.adjudicator_id, sar.section_adjudicator_role_id, s.section_id, sdr.section_dance_role_id, d.dance_id, c.contact_id, ro.round_id, r.result_id, c.title, c.first_name, c.last_name, d.name, r.value, ro.type FROM tbl_adjudicator a INNER JOIN tbl_section_adjudicator_role sar on sar.section_adjudicator_role2adjudicator = a.adjudicator_id INNER JOIN tbl_section s on sar.section_adjudicator_role2section = s.section_id INNER JOIN tbl_section_dance_role sdr on sdr.section_dance_role2section = s.section_id INNER JOIN tbl_dance d on sdr.section_dance_role2dance = d.dance_id INNER JOIN tbl_contact c on a.adjudicator2contact = c.contact_id INNER JOIN tbl_round ro on ro.round2section = s.section_id LEFT OUTER JOIN tbl_result r on r.result2adjudicator = a.adjudicator_id AND r.result2dance = d.dance_id When I run the following query directly against the db I get 0 in the count column where there is no result select adjudicator_id, first_name, COUNT(result_id) from tbl_adjudicator_result_view arv where arv.round_id = 16 group by adjudicator_id, first_name However when I use LINQ query I always get 1 in the Count Column var query = from arv in db.AdjudicatorResultViews where arv.round_id == id group arv by new { arv.adjudicator_id, arv.first_name} into grp select new AdjudicatorResultViewGroupedByDance { AdjudicatorId = grp.Key.adjudicator_id, FirstName = grp.Key.first_name, Count = grp.Select(p => p.result_id).Distinct().Count() }; What do I need to change in the View / Linq query.

  • Can I improve performance by refactoring SQL commands into classes?

    - by Matthew Jones
    Currently, my entire website does updating from SQL parameterized queries. It works, we've had no problems with it, but it can occasionally be very slow. I was wondering if it makes sense to refactor some of these SQL commands into classes so that we would not have to hit the database so often. I understand hitting the database is generally the slowest part of any web application For example, say we have a class structure like this: Project (comprised of) Tasks (comprised of) Assignments Where Project, Task, and Assignment are classes. At certain points in the site you are only working on one project at a time, and so creating a Project class and passing it among pages (using Session, Profile, something else) might make sense. I imagine this class would have a Save() method to save value changes. Does it make sense to invest the time into doing this? Under what conditions might it be worth it?

  • ASP.NET MVC / Linq-to-SQL classes: Can I get it to infer readable display names?

    - by Gary McGill
    If I have a table Orders with fields CustomerID, OrderID and OrderDate, then the "Linq-to-SQL classes" generated class will be called Orders, with members called CustomerID, OrderID and OrderDate. So far so good. However, if I then do Html.LabelFor(m => m.OrderDate) then the generated text will be "OrderDate" instead of "Order Date". I tried using Order_Date as the field name, but that didn't work. Is there any way to get it to infer a better display name? [I know that I can use data annotations to specify the display name explicitly, but I really don't want to do that for all my classes/members - I just want it to work by convention.]

  • Three Java classes: point out all the issues you can find!

    - by Sicarius
    I wrote three classes for a colleague of mine (I'm new at this job). They compile just fine, but he tells me there are "defects, bugs, and style problems." He wants me to print the files out and mark the problems such as the standard coding conventions, best practices, format, design, and logic. I wrote this code when I was extremely tired and I plan to rewrite it completely. My mistake was showing to it before looking it over myself again. However, he still wants me to do the markings on paper. Any input is greatly appreciated! The three Java classes ['Station.java', 'ParserInt.java', 'ParserException.java'] are uploaded here: http://www.megaupload.com/?d=N2CUVSV2

  • posting php code using jquery .html()

    - by Emmanuel Imwene
    simple query,but it's giving me a headache, i need a division to be updated with a changed session variable each time a user clicks on a name,i figured i'd use .html() using jquery to update the division, i don't know if you can do this, but here goes: $("#inner").html('<?php session_start(); if(file_exists($_SESSION['full'])||file_exists($_SESSION['str'])){ if(file_exists($_SESSION['full'])) { $full=$_SESSION['full']; $handlle = fopen($full, "r"); $contents = fread($handlle, filesize($full)); fclose($handlle); echo $contents; echo '<script type="text/javascript" src="jquery-1.8.0.min (1).js">'; echo '</script>'; echo '<script type="text/javascript">'; echo 'function loadLog(){ var oldscrollHeight = $("#inner").attr("scrollHeight") - 20; $.ajax({ url: \''.$_SESSION['full'].'\', cache: false, success: function(html){ $("#inner").html(html); //Insert chat log into the #chatbox div var newscrollHeight = $("#inner").attr("scrollHeight") - 20; if(newscrollHeight > oldscrollHeight){ $("#inner").animate({ scrollTop: newscrollHeight }, \'normal\'); //Autoscroll to bottom of div } }, }); } setInterval (loadLog, 2500);'; echo '</script>'; } else { $str=$_SESSION['str']; if(file_exists($str)) { $handle = fopen($str, 'r'); $contents = fread($handle, filesize($str)); fclose($handle); echo $contents; $full=$_SESSION['full']; $handlle = fopen($full, "r"); $contents = fread($handlle, filesize($full)); fclose($handlle); echo $contents; echo '<script type="text/javascript" src="jquery-1.8.0.min (1).js">'; echo '</script>'; echo '<script type="text/javascript">'; echo 'function loadLog(){ var oldscrollHeight = $("#inner").attr("scrollHeight") - 20; $.ajax({ url: \''.$_SESSION['str'].'\', cache: false, success: function(html){ $("#inner").html(html); //Insert chat log into the #chatbox div var newscrollHeight = $("#inner").attr("scrollHeight") - 20; if(newscrollHeight > oldscrollHeight){ $("#inner").animate({ scrollTop: newscrollHeight }, \'normal\'); //Autoscroll to bottom of div } }, }); } setInterval (loadLog, 2500);'; echo '</script>'; } } } ?>'); is that legal, if not, how would i accomplish this?

  • What's an elegant solution to get the property values from two classes (that have the same property

    - by SlipToFall
    Essentially I have to deal with a poorly implemented web service. They have two classes that don't derive from a parent class, but have the same properties (Ughh...). So it looks like this in my web service proxy class file: public partial class Product1 { public int Quantity; public int Price; } public partial class Product2 { public int Quantity; public int Price; } So what's the best way to grab the values from known properties without duplicating the code and casting to their respective classes? I know I probably could use reflection, but that can get ugly. If there is an easier less crazier way to do it (maybe in the new c# features?) please let me know.

  • How do I reload servlet classes without restarting my web application?

    - by Ramon
    I want to reload just my web layer classes without reloading my service layer classes (which take longer to initialize and change less frequently). There are no references from my service layer into the web layer and I can create a whole new instance of the web layer without problems. I can conceive of a solution involving complicated class-loader tricks to isolate the web layer in its own class-loader and I think this is probably the only way to do this so what I'm asking is, is there a library out there which does this? I know about JavaRebel - I don't need that much power and I'm really looking for a more lightweight free solution.

  • Publish/Subscribe paradigm: Why must message classes not know about their subscribers?

    - by carleeto
    From Wikipedia: "Publish/subscribe (or pub/sub) is a messaging paradigm where senders (publishers) of messages are not programmed to send their messages to specific receivers (subscribers). Rather, published messages are characterized into classes, without knowledge of what (if any) subscribers there may be" I can understand why a sender must not be programmed to send its message to a specific receiver. But why must published messages be classes that do not have knowledge of their subscribers? It would seem that once the messaging system itself is in place, what typically changes as software evolves is the messages sent, the publishers and the receivers. Keeping the messages separate from the subscribers seems to imply that the subscription model might also change. Is this the reason? Also, does this occur in the real world? I realize this may be a basic question, but I'm trying to understand this paradigm and your replies are very much appreciated.

    Hey folks, does anybody know how to change it ? I mean from target/test-classes ... target/classes .... maven dependencies to target/test-classes ... maven dependencies .... target/classes It relates to this surefire-plugin feature request It's because surefire-plugin cannot exclude resources from /target/classes ... it can only modify resources via <testResources> element that modifies /target/test-classes

  • Declaring two classes that contain instance variables of each others' types.

    - by Benji XVI
    Let’s say you wish to have two classes like so, each declaring an instance variable that is of the other’s class. @interface A : NSObject { B *something; } @end @interface B : NSObject { A *something; } @end It seems to be impossible to declare these classes with these instance variables. In order for A to include an IV of class B, B must already be compiled, and so its @interface must come before A’s. But A’s must be put before B’s for the same reason. Putting the two class declarations in separate files, and #import-ing each other’s .h doesn’t work either, for obvious reasons. So, what is the solution? Or is this either (1) impossible or (2) indicative of a bad design anyway?

  • What type of pattern would be used in this case

    - by Admiral Kunkka
    I want to know how to tackle this type of scenario. We are building a person's background, from scratch, and I want to know, conceptually, how to proceed with a secure object pattern in both design and execution... I've been reading on Factory patterns, Model-View-Controller types, Dependency injection, Singleton approaches... and I can't seem to grasp or 'fit' these types of designs decisions into what I'm trying to do.. First and foremost, I started with having a big jack-of-all-trades class, then I read some more, and some tips were to make sure your classes only have a single purpose.. which makes sense and I started breaking down certain things into other classes. Okay, cool. Now I'm looking at dependency injection and kind of didn't really know what's going on. Example/insight of what kind of heirarchy I need to accomplish... class Person needs to access and build from a multitude of different classes. class Culture needs to access a sub-class for culture benefits class Social needs to access class Culture, and other sub-classes class Birth needs to access Social, Culture, and other sub-classes class Childhood/Adolescence/Adulthood need to access everything. Also, depending on different rolls, this class heirarchy needs to create multiple people as well, such as Family, and their backgrounds using some, if not all, of these same classes. Think of it as a people generator, all random, with backgrounds and things that happen to them. Ageing, death of loved ones, military careers, e.t.c. Most of the generation is done randomly, making calls to a mt_rand function to pick from most of the selections inside the classes, guaranteeing the data to be absolutely random. I have most of the bulk-data down, and was looking for some insight from fellow programmers, what do you think?

  • Creating a thematic map

    - by jsharma
    This post describes how to create a simple thematic map, just a state population layer, with no underlying map tile layer. The map shows states color-coded by total population. The map is interactive with info-windows and can be panned and zoomed. The sample code demonstrates the following: Displaying an interactive vector layer with no background map tile layer (i.e. purpose and use of the Universe object) Using a dynamic (i.e. defined via the javascript client API) color bucket style Dynamically changing a layer's rendering style Specifying which attribute value to use in determining the bucket, and hence style, for a feature (FoI) The result is shown in the screenshot below. The states layer was defined, and stored in the user_sdo_themes view of the mvdemo schema, using MapBuilder. The underlying table is defined as SQL> desc states_32775  Name                                      Null?    Type ----------------------------------------- -------- ----------------------------  STATE                                              VARCHAR2(26)  STATE_ABRV                                         VARCHAR2(2) FIPSST                                             VARCHAR2(2) TOTPOP                                             NUMBER PCTSMPLD                                           NUMBER LANDSQMI                                           NUMBER POPPSQMI                                           NUMBER ... MEDHHINC NUMBER AVGHHINC NUMBER GEOM32775 MDSYS.SDO_GEOMETRY We'll use the TOTPOP column value in the advanced (color bucket) style for rendering the states layers. The predefined theme (US_STATES_BI) is defined as follows. SQL> select styling_rules from user_sdo_themes where name='US_STATES_BI'; STYLING_RULES -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- <?xml version="1.0" standalone="yes"?> <styling_rules highlight_style="C.CB_QUAL_8_CLASS_DARK2_1"> <hidden_info> <field column="STATE" name="Name"/> <field column="POPPSQMI" name="POPPSQMI"/> <field column="TOTPOP" name="TOTPOP"/> </hidden_info> <rule column="TOTPOP"> <features style="states_totpop"> </features> <label column="STATE_ABRV" style="T.BLUE_SERIF_10"> 1 </label> </rule> </styling_rules> SQL> The theme definition specifies that the state, poppsqmi, totpop, state_abrv, and geom columns will be queried from the states_32775 table. The state_abrv value will be used to label the state while the totpop value will be used to determine the color-fill from those defined in the states_totpop advanced style. The states_totpop style, which we will not use in our demo, is defined as shown below. SQL> select definition from user_sdo_styles where name='STATES_TOTPOP'; DEFINITION -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- <?xml version="1.0" ?> <AdvancedStyle> <BucketStyle> <Buckets default_style="C.S02_COUNTRY_AREA"> <RangedBucket seq="0" label="10K - 5M" low="10000" high="5000000" style="C.SEQ6_01" /> <RangedBucket seq="1" label="5M - 12M" low="5000001" high="1.2E7" style="C.SEQ6_02" /> <RangedBucket seq="2" label="12M - 20M" low="1.2000001E7" high="2.0E7" style="C.SEQ6_04" /> <RangedBucket seq="3" label="&gt; 20M" low="2.0000001E7" high="5.0E7" style="C.SEQ6_05" /> </Buckets> </BucketStyle> </AdvancedStyle> SQL> The demo defines additional advanced styles via the OM.style object and methods and uses those instead when rendering the states layer.   Now let's look at relevant snippets of code that defines the map extent and zoom levels (i.e. the OM.universe),  loads the states predefined vector layer (OM.layer), and sets up the advanced (color bucket) style. Defining the map extent and zoom levels. function initMap() {   //alert("Initialize map view");     // define the map extent and number of zoom levels.   // The Universe object is similar to the map tile layer configuration   // It defines the map extent, number of zoom levels, and spatial reference system   // well-known ones (like web mercator/google/bing or maps.oracle/elocation are predefined   // The Universe must be defined when there is no underlying map tile layer.   // When there is a map tile layer then that defines the map extent, srid, and zoom levels.      var uni= new OM.universe.Universe(     {         srid : 32775,         bounds : new OM.geometry.Rectangle(                         -3280000, 170000, 2300000, 3200000, 32775),         numberOfZoomLevels: 8     }); The srid specifies the spatial reference system which is Equal-Area Projection (United States). SQL> select cs_name from cs_srs where srid=32775 ; CS_NAME --------------------------------------------------- Equal-Area Projection (United States) The bounds defines the map extent. It is a Rectangle defined using the lower-left and upper-right coordinates and srid. Loading and displaying the states layer This is done in the states() function. The full code is at the end of this post, however here's the snippet which defines the states VectorLayer.     // States is a predefined layer in user_sdo_themes     var  layer2 = new OM.layer.VectorLayer("vLayer2",     {         def:         {             type:OM.layer.VectorLayer.TYPE_PREDEFINED,             dataSource:"mvdemo",             theme:"us_states_bi",             url: baseURL,             loadOnDemand: false         },         boundingTheme:true      }); The first parameter is a layer name, the second is an object literal for a layer config. The config object has two attributes: the first is the layer definition, the second specifies whether the layer is a bounding one (i.e. used to determine the current map zoom and center such that the whole layer is displayed within the map window) or not. The layer config has the following attributes: type - specifies whether is a predefined one, a defined via a SQL query (JDBC), or in a json-format file (DATAPACK) theme - is the predefined theme's name url - is the location of the mapviewer server loadOnDemand - specifies whether to load all the features or just those that lie within the current map window and load additional ones as needed on a pan or zoom The code snippet below dynamically defines an advanced style and then uses it, instead of the 'states_totpop' style, when rendering the states layer. // override predefined rendering style with programmatic one    var theRenderingStyle =      createBucketColorStyle('YlBr5', colorSeries, 'States5', true);   // specify which attribute is used in determining the bucket (i.e. color) to use for the state   // It can be an array because the style could be a chart type (pie/bar)   // which requires multiple attribute columns     // Use the STATE.TOTPOP column (aka attribute) value here    layer2.setRenderingStyle(theRenderingStyle, ["TOTPOP"]); The style itself is defined in the createBucketColorStyle() function. Dynamically defining an advanced style The advanced style used here is a bucket color style, i.e. a color style is associated with each bucket. So first we define the colors and then the buckets.     numClasses = colorSeries[colorName].classes;    // create Color Styles    for (var i=0; i < numClasses; i++)    {         theStyles[i] = new OM.style.Color(                      {fill: colorSeries[colorName].fill[i],                        stroke:colorSeries[colorName].stroke[i],                       strokeOpacity: useGradient? 0.25 : 1                      });    }; numClasses is the number of buckets. The colorSeries array contains the color fill and stroke definitions and is: var colorSeries = { //multi-hue color scheme #10 YlBl. "YlBl3": {   classes:3,                  fill: [0xEDF8B1, 0x7FCDBB, 0x2C7FB8],                  stroke:[0xB5DF9F, 0x72B8A8, 0x2872A6]   }, "YlBl5": {   classes:5,                  fill:[0xFFFFCC, 0xA1DAB4, 0x41B6C4, 0x2C7FB8, 0x253494],                  stroke:[0xE6E6B8, 0x91BCA2, 0x3AA4B0, 0x2872A6, 0x212F85]   }, //multi-hue color scheme #11 YlBr.  "YlBr3": {classes:3,                  fill:[0xFFF7BC, 0xFEC44F, 0xD95F0E],                  stroke:[0xE6DEA9, 0xE5B047, 0xC5360D]   }, "YlBr5": {classes:5,                  fill:[0xFFFFD4, 0xFED98E, 0xFE9929, 0xD95F0E, 0x993404],                  stroke:[0xE6E6BF, 0xE5C380, 0xE58A25, 0xC35663, 0x8A2F04]     }, etc. Next we create the bucket style.    bucketStyleDef = {       numClasses : colorSeries[colorName].classes, //      classification: 'custom',  //since we are supplying all the buckets //      buckets: theBuckets,       classification: 'logarithmic',  // use a logarithmic scale       styles: theStyles,       gradient:  useGradient? 'linear' : 'off' //      gradient:  useGradient? 'radial' : 'off'     };    theBucketStyle = new OM.style.BucketStyle(bucketStyleDef);    return theBucketStyle; A BucketStyle constructor takes a style definition as input. The style definition specifies the number of buckets (numClasses), a classification scheme (which can be equal-ranged, logarithmic scale, or custom), the styles for each bucket, whether to use a gradient effect, and optionally the buckets (required when using a custom classification scheme). • Best Practices Generating WebService Proxies for Oracle Sales Cloud (Fusion CRM)

    - by asantaga
    I've recently been building a REST Service wrapper for Oracle Sales Cloud and initially all was going well, however as soon as I added all of my Web Service proxies I started to get weird errors..  My project structure looks like this What I found out was if I only had the InteractionsService & OpportunityService WebService Proxies then all worked ok, but as soon as I added the LocationsService Proxy, I would start to see strange JAXB errors. Example of the error message Exception in thread "main" javax.xml.ws.WebServiceException: Unable to create JAXBContextat com.sun.xml.ws.model.AbstractSEIModelImpl.createJAXBContext(AbstractSEIModelImpl.java:164)at com.sun.xml.ws.model.AbstractSEIModelImpl.postProcess(AbstractSEIModelImpl.java:94)at com.sun.xml.ws.model.RuntimeModeler.buildRuntimeModel(RuntimeModeler.java:281)at com.sun.xml.ws.client.WSServiceDelegate.buildRuntimeModel(WSServiceDelegate.java:762)at weblogic.wsee.jaxws.spi.WLSProvider$ServiceDelegate.buildRuntimeModel(WLSProvider.java:982)at com.sun.xml.ws.client.WSServiceDelegate.createSEIPortInfo(WSServiceDelegate.java:746)at com.sun.xml.ws.client.WSServiceDelegate.addSEI(WSServiceDelegate.java:737)at com.sun.xml.ws.client.WSServiceDelegate.getPort(WSServiceDelegate.java:361)at weblogic.wsee.jaxws.spi.WLSProvider$ServiceDelegate.internalGetPort(WLSProvider.java:934)at weblogic.wsee.jaxws.spi.WLSProvider$ServiceDelegate$PortClientInstanceFactory.createClientInstance(WLSProvider.java:1039)...... Looking further down I see the error message is related to JAXB not being able to find an objectFactory for one of its types Caused by: java.security.PrivilegedActionException: com.sun.xml.bind.v2.runtime.IllegalAnnotationsException: 6 counts of IllegalAnnotationExceptionsThere's no ObjectFactory with an @XmlElementDecl for the element {http://xmlns.oracle.com/apps/crmCommon/activities/activitiesService/}AssigneeRsrcOrgIdthis problem is related to the following location:at protected javax.xml.bind.JAXBElement com.oracle.xmlns.apps.crmcommon.activities.activitiesservice.ActivityAssignee.assigneeRsrcOrgId at com.oracle.xmlns.apps.crmcommon.activities.activitiesservice.ActivityAssignee This is very strange... My first thoughts are that when I generated the WebService Proxy I entered the package name as "oracle.demo.pts.fusionproxy.servicename" and left the generated types as blank. This way all the generated types get put into the same package hierarchy and when deployed they get merged... Sounds resaonable and appears to work but not in this case..  To resolve this I regenerate the proxy but this time setting : Package name : To the name of my package eg. oracle.demo.pts.fusionproxy.interactionsRoot Package for Generated Types :  Package where the types will be generated to, e.g. oracle.demo.pts.fusionproxy.SalesParty.types When I ran the application now, it all works , awesome eh???? Alas no, there is a serious side effect. The problem now is that to help coding I've created a collection of helper classes , these helper classes take parameters which use some of the "generic" datatypes, like FindCriteria. e.g. This wont work any more public static FindCriteria createCustomFindCriteria(FindCriteria pFc,String pAttributes) Here lies a gremlin of a problem.. I cant use this method anymore, this is because the FindCriteria datatype is now being defined two, or more times, in the generated code for my project. If you leave the Root Package for types blank it will get generated to com.oracle.xmlns, and if you populate it then it gets generated to your custom package.. The two datatypes look the same, sound the same (and if this were a duck would sound the same), but THEY ARE NOT THE SAME... Speaking to development, they recommend you should not be entering anything in the Root Packages section, so the mystery thickens why does it work.. Well after spending sometime with some colleagues of mine in development we've identified the issue.. Alas different parts of Oracle Fusion Development have multiple schemas with the same namespace, when the WebService generator generates its classes its not seeing the other schemas properly and not generating the Object Factories correctly...  Thankfully I've found a workaround Solution Overview When generating the proxies leave the Root Package for Generated Types BLANK When you have finished generating your proxies, use the JAXB tool XJC and generate Java classes for all datatypes  Create a project within your JDeveloper11g workspace and import the java classes into this project Final bit.. within the project dependencies ensure that the JAXB/XJC generated classes are "FIRST" in the classpath Solution Details Generate the WebServices SOAP proxies When generating the proxies your generation dialog should look like this Ensure the "unwrap" parameters is selected, if it isn't then that's ok, it simply means when issuing a "get" you need to extract out the Element Generate the JAXB Classes using XJC XJC provides a command line switch called -wsdl, this (although is experimental/beta) , accepts a HTTP WSDL and will generate the relevant classes. You can put these into a single batch/shell script xjc -wsdl https://fusionservername:443/appCmmnCompInteractions/InteractionService?wsdlxjc -wsdl https://fusionservername443/opptyMgmtOpportunities/OpportunityService?wsdl Create Project in JDeveloper to store the XJC "generated" JAXB classes Within the project folder create a filesystem folder called "src" and copy the generated files into this folder. JDeveloper11g should then see the classes and display them, if it doesnt try clicking the "refresh" button In your main project ensure that the JDeveloper XJC project is selected as a dependancy and IMPORTANT make sure it is at the top of the list. This ensures that the classes are at the front of the classpath And voilà.. Hopefully you wont see any JAXB generation errors and you can use common datatypes interchangeably in your project, (e.g. FindCriteria etc)

  • ClickOnce manifest problem

    - by TWith2Sugars
    We are currently deploying a WPF 4 app via click once and there is a scenario when the installation fails. If the user does not have .Net 4.0 Full install and attempts to install our app the framework installs fine but the app fails to install. If we re-run the installation again the app installs fine. Here is a copy of the log: PLATFORM VERSION INFO Windows : 6.1.7600.0 (Win32NT) Common Language Runtime : 2.0.50727.4927 System.Deployment.dll : 2.0.50727.4927 (NetFXspW7.050727-4900) mscorwks.dll : 2.0.50727.4927 (NetFXspW7.050727-4900) dfdll.dll : 2.0.50727.4927 (NetFXspW7.050727-4900) dfshim.dll : 4.0.31106.0 (Main.031106-0000) SOURCES Deployment url : [URL REMOVED] Server : Apache/2.0.54 Application url : [URL REMOVED] Server : Apache/2.0.54 IDENTITIES Deployment Identity : Graphicly.App.application, Version=0.3.2.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=c982228345371fbc, processorArchitecture=msil Application Identity : Graphicly.App.exe, Version=0.3.2.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=c982228345371fbc, processorArchitecture=msil, type=win32 APPLICATION SUMMARY * Installable application. • How does versioning work when using Boost Serialization for Derived Classes?

    - by Venkata Adusumilli
    When a Client serializes the following data: InternationalStudent student; student.id("Client ID"); student.firstName("Client First Name"); student.country("Client Country"); the Server receives the following: ID = "Client ID" Country = "Client First Name" instead of the following: ID = "Client ID" Country = "Client Country" The only difference between the Server and Client classes is the First Name of the Student. How can we make the Server ignore First Name recieved from the Client and process the Country? Server Side Classes class Student { public: Student(){} virtual ~Student(){} public: std::string id() { return idM; } void id(std::string id) { idM = id; } protected: friend class boost::serialization::access; protected: std::string idM; protected: template<class A> void serialize(A& archive, const unsigned int /*version*/) { archive & BOOST_SERIALIZATION_NVP(idM); } }; class InternationalStudent : public Student { public: InternationalStudent() {} ~InternationalStudent() {} public: std::string country() { return countryM; } void country(std::string country) { countryM = country; } protected: friend class boost::serialization::access; protected: std::string countryM; protected: template<class A> void serialize(A& archive, const unsigned int /*version*/) { archive & BOOST_SERIALIZATION_NVP(boost::serialization::base_object<Student>(*this)); archive & BOOST_SERIALIZATION_NVP(countryM); } }; Client Side Classes class Student { public: Student(){} virtual ~Student(){} public: std::string id() { return idM; } void id(std::string id) { idM = id; } std::string firstName() { return firstNameM; } void firstName(std::string name) { firstNameM = name; } protected: friend class boost::serialization::access; protected: std::string idM; std::string firstNameM; protected: template<class A> void serialize(A& archive, const unsigned int /*version*/) { archive & BOOST_SERIALIZATION_NVP(idM); if (version >=1) { archive & BOOST_SERIALIZATION_NVP(firstNameM); } } }; BOOST_CLASS_VERSION(Student, 1) class InternationalStudent : public Student { public: InternationalStudent() {} ~InternationalStudent() {} public: std::string country() { return countryM; } void country(std::string country) { countryM = country; } protected: friend class boost::serialization::access; protected: std::string countryM; protected: template<class A> void serialize(A& archive, const unsigned int /*version*/) { archive & BOOST_SERIALIZATION_NVP(boost::serialization::base_object<Student>(*this)); archive & BOOST_SERIALIZATION_NVP(countryM); } };

  • Joins in LINQ to SQL

    - by rajbk
    The following post shows how to write different types of joins in LINQ to SQL. I am using the Northwind database and LINQ to SQL for these examples. NorthwindDataContext dataContext = new NorthwindDataContext(); Inner Join var q1 = from c in dataContext.Customers join o in dataContext.Orders on c.CustomerID equals o.CustomerID select new { c.CustomerID, c.ContactName, o.OrderID, o.OrderDate }; SELECT [t0].[CustomerID], [t0].[ContactName], [t1].[OrderID], [t1].[OrderDate]FROM [dbo].[Customers] AS [t0]INNER JOIN [dbo].[Orders] AS [t1] ON [t0].[CustomerID] = [t1].[CustomerID] Left Join var q2 = from c in dataContext.Customers join o in dataContext.Orders on c.CustomerID equals o.CustomerID into g from a in g.DefaultIfEmpty() select new { c.CustomerID, c.ContactName, a.OrderID, a.OrderDate }; SELECT [t0].[CustomerID], [t0].[ContactName], [t1].[OrderID] AS [OrderID], [t1].[OrderDate] AS [OrderDate]FROM [dbo].[Customers] AS [t0]LEFT OUTER JOIN [dbo].[Orders] AS [t1] ON [t0].[CustomerID] = [t1].[CustomerID] Inner Join on multiple //We mark our anonymous type properties as a and b otherwise//we get the compiler error "Type inferencce failed in the call to 'Join’var q3 = from c in dataContext.Customers join o in dataContext.Orders on new { a = c.CustomerID, b = c.Country } equals new { a = o.CustomerID, b = "USA" } select new { c.CustomerID, c.ContactName, o.OrderID, o.OrderDate }; SELECT [t0].[CustomerID], [t0].[ContactName], [t1].[OrderID], [t1].[OrderDate]FROM [dbo].[Customers] AS [t0]INNER JOIN [dbo].[Orders] AS [t1] ON ([t0].[CustomerID] = [t1].[CustomerID]) AND ([t0].[Country] = @p0) Inner Join on multiple with ‘OR’ clause var q4 = from c in dataContext.Customers from o in dataContext.Orders.Where(a => a.CustomerID == c.CustomerID || c.Country == "USA") select new { c.CustomerID, c.ContactName, o.OrderID, o.OrderDate }; SELECT [t0].[CustomerID], [t0].[ContactName], [t1].[OrderID], [t1].[OrderDate]FROM [dbo].[Customers] AS [t0], [dbo].[Orders] AS [t1]WHERE ([t1].[CustomerID] = [t0].[CustomerID]) OR ([t0].[Country] = @p0) Left Join on multiple with ‘OR’ clause var q5 = from c in dataContext.Customers from o in dataContext.Orders.Where(a => a.CustomerID == c.CustomerID || c.Country == "USA").DefaultIfEmpty() select new { c.CustomerID, c.ContactName, o.OrderID, o.OrderDate }; SELECT [t0].[CustomerID], [t0].[ContactName], [t1].[OrderID] AS [OrderID], [t1].[OrderDate] AS [OrderDate]FROM [dbo].[Customers] AS [t0]LEFT OUTER JOIN [dbo].[Orders] AS [t1] ON ([t1].[CustomerID] = [t0].[CustomerID]) OR ([t0].[Country] = @p0)
