• One email user keeps disconnecting from our exchange server

  I have one user who keeps reporting that Outlook keeps disconnecting from our email server. All other users are fine. Our email server is running Exchange 2010 and the client is running Outlook 2003. The disconnection only lasts a moment. I have checked for logs on the client and Exchange server and can not see any reason for the disconnect, On the Client I get EventId 26 telling me Outlook has disconnected and reconnected but no reason why. Can anyone give me some suggestions of things to try and track down where the problem could be? --Update-- I have found the following log file C:\Program Files\Microsoft\Exchange Server\V14\Logging\RPC Client Access which suggests that it is a problem with RPC sessions. • Installing EclipseFP on Mac OS X

  I am trying to install EclipseFP. I'm running OS X Mavericks. I've tried following both the official installation instructions and the advice in this answer on SU, but I'm still having the same problem. I can get the plugin itself installed painlessly using Help -> Install New Software..., Bbut when I restart and switch to the Haskell perspective, things start to go wrong. The installation instructions tells me that I should receive a prompt to install BuildWrapper and Scion Browser. I do not receive this prompt. Furthermore, if I create a new Haskell project, my code has no syntax highlighting, and the Hoogle search feature does not appear to do anything. It's clear that the plugin is not set up correctly yet. I've tried running cabal update in Terminal, but this does not change anything. After several attempts going round in circles with this on Eclipse Juno, I uninstalled Eclispe and the Haskell Platform and performed a clean install of Eclipse Luna and the latest Haskell Platform. However, the problems are persisting. I've tried going into Preferences to see if I could sort any of this out manually. I should initially point out that my GHC installation seems to be correctly references under Preferences -> Haskell Implementations Under Haskell -> Helper executables, there are areas for configuring the options of both BuildWrapper and Scion Browser. At present, both are blank. I tried clicking the Install from Hackage... button beside each of them with no success; I receive an error message saying Expected executable <workspace>/.metadata/.plugins/net.sf.eclipsefp.haskell.ui/sandbox/.cabal-sandbox/bin/buildwrapper not found!` (replace buildwrapper for scion-browser and the message is the same) The Eclipse console displays the following exception after doing the above with BuildWrapper: src/Language/Haskell/BuildWrapper/GHCStorage.hs:313:32: Not in scope: data constructor ‘MatchGroup’ cabal.real: Error: some packages failed to install: buildwrapper-0.7.4 failed during the building phase. Apologies if any of this information is irrelevant, I'm just not really sure what is important and what isn't at this point. Any help anyone could provide me with would be greatly appreciated.

• Why can't I resolve ambiguity with Android.OS.Environment?

  I'm trying to use Environment.(...) in my Xamarin app. It complains that "Environment is an ambiguous reference between System.Environment and Android.OS.Environment" I can fix it by using the fully qualified name System.Environment.(...) but not with Android.OS.Environment.(...). For example: // Obviously ambiguous with error above using System; using Android.OS; // ... // OnCreate uses Bundle also in Android.OS //... string path = Environment.GetFolderPath(Environment.SpecialFolder.Personal); // Can be fixed by prefixing Environment with "System." But I can't fix it with any variation of possibilities using Android.OS including removing it and explicitly using it. • Problem upgrading eclipse rcp app from 3.3 to 3.5 on Mac OS

  I previously had an eclipse rcp app based on eclipse 3.3 pugins deployed on both windows and mac OS X 10.4. i'm now trying to port the app to java 1.6 and eclipse 3.5 (Build id: 20100218-1602) plugins on Mac OS X 10.5.8 (Leopard). I can launch the product from eclipse 3.5 on windows but not on Mac OS X. I have the 64bit cocoa eclipse IDE and java 6. In the launch configuration I set runtime JRE to JVM 1.6.0 and added required plugins. • How to run autoconf in OSX linking to specified OS SDK

  Hello! I have written a small command line tool that includes some GPL code. Everything runs smothly. Using os 10.6. The external code used has a config.h header file, made by calling autoconf. I'd like to deploy the tool to different OS versions. Is it happening because... "we don't have a crystal ball"? :). Or is it incorrect "setup"/flag-export before running autoconf, which I hope is the case? • Question about MySQLdb, OS X 10.5, and authentication

  I'm a noob at Python and have been having problems with MySQLdb and OS X Leopard 10.5. I have a php app that is doing db access just fine with pdo but also want to access with Python. When I use the same credentials with MySQLdb as php, I get the following error: File "build/bdist.macosx-10.5-i386/egg/MySQLdb/connections.py", line 188, in __init__ _mysql_exceptions.OperationalError: (1045, "Access denied for user 'arc_db'@'localhost' (using password: YES)") The authentication piece works fine on my ubuntu server (installed via apt-get) implying that it is something specific to my OS X MySQLdb install. Looking at some postings, I thought it would be my local build of MySQLdb which seems to be problematic with OS X. But I am able to import fine: Python 2.5.1 (r251:54863, Feb 6 2009, 19:02:12) [GCC 4.0.1 (Apple Inc. build 5465)] on darwin Type "help", "copyright", "credits" or "license" for more information. >>> import MySQLdb >>> Also, wanting to create a positive, I am able to access and return results from a database tilted test_something (which presumably bypasses the MySQL's authtentication - not sure exactly how though). Trying to figure out a little more what is going on, I turn on logging for mysql and get the following (added my own comments): 100609 19:09:45 3 Connect Access denied for user 'arc_db'@'localhost' (using password: YES) //not worked 100609 19:10:02 4 Connect arc_db@localhost on arc_development //did work I'm not really sure what the 3 or 4 means but presumably a sucess or failue. So, I guess what would be the next step? Am I doing some obvious stupid python mistake (very likely)? Is there a better way for me to prove that this should / can be working? Is there any way to determine what MySQLdb is sending exactly in its authentication message to MySQL? thanks

In this file, it should execute a SQL command or a SQL file on my database, so I can create an index and see what the performance of that input is, but how do i do it? I create the connection to the database in the reads.py file, but it's hard to create the queries in there because I doesn't keep track of which file it has reached, it just execute commands from what the parameters are. I hope I've explained myself clear enough, otherwise please let me know. I just want to execute a SQL command or file which each query_read_0x.py file. Sincerely Mestika

• Eclipse Helios on OS X Snow Leopard crashes frequently when editing certain PHP files

  I use Eclipse Helios (Eclipse Platform: 3.6.0.I20100608-0911, Eclipse IDE for PHP Developers: 1.3.0.20100617-0520) all the time on OS X (Snow Leopard), and it seems I only run into trouble whenever I'm editing a PHP file that's part of the WordPress blogging framework. When I move my cursor to a variable or function name, that often triggers the beach ball of death. I suspect Eclipse is trying to look up that variable/function and for some reason that causes an endless loop. Sometimes it's not just variables or functions. Just today I was trying to replace all occurrences of a quoted string. Every time I clicked "Replace All", the program would freeze immediately after the string was replaced and the text cursor was moved to the replaced position. I think the moving of the text cursor is important, because I got the same result when I searched for the string (thus moving the cursor), but NOT when I searched for a nonexistent string. I tried disabling everything in my preferences related to marked occurrences, hovering, code assistance, etc. Nothing helps. I use Eclipse for all my projects, and I find that it's only WordPress projects where this happens. This value will be overwritten using the values from the preferences I did some experimenting with the particular script that's giving me trouble. It's a hybrid of HTML and PHP, so Eclipse has to do both HTML and PHP validation. I wondered if the HTML validation had something to do with it, so I created a new file, copied the contents over, and messed with the doctype element. I found that if I replaced the well-formed XHTML 1.0 Strict doctype element with a generic doctype (as such: <!DOCTYPE html>), then I did not crash the program just by moving the cursor around. I set all HTML validation rules to "Ignore", but it still didn't solve my problems. For now, I'm just going to echo the doctype using PHP instead of entering it literally. That seems to prevent crashes. I notice that when I move the cursor around the document, Eclipse displays the "xpath" to my current location at the bottom of the screen. Sometimes there's a delay while it figures out my current path. Perhaps when it's validating against the Strict doctype, it has problems quickly calculating the xpath as I move the cursor around? Maybe it has a stack overflow that causes it to crash.

  Installing Mercurial on Mac OS X 10.6 Snow Leopard I installed Mercurial 1.3.1 on Mac OS X 10.6 Snow Leopard from source using the following: cd ~/src curl -O http://mercurial.selenic.com/release/mercurial-1.3.1.tar.gz tar xzvf mercurial-1.3.1.tar.gz cd mercurial-1.3.1 make ALL sudo make install This installs the site-packages files for Mercurial in /usr/local/lib/python2.6/site-packages/. I know that installing Mercurial from the Mac Disk Image will install the files into /Library/Python/2.6/site-packages/, which is the site-packages directory for the Mac OS X default Python install. I have Python 2.6.2+ installed as a Framework with its site-packages directory in: /Library/Frameworks/Python.framework/Versions/2.6/lib/python2.6/site-packages With Mercurial installed this way, I have to issue: PYTHONPATH=/usr/local/lib/python2.6/site-packages:"${PYTHONPATH}" in order to get Mercurial to work. Questions How can I install Mercurial from source with the site-packages in a different directory? Is there an advantage or disadvantage to having the site-packages in the current location? Would it be better in one of the Python site-package directories that already exist?   I do have a curious error in my application. My app crashes (don't mind the crash, I roughly know why - classloader) when I start the application from the OS directly, then kill it from the background via any Task Killer (this is one of the few ways to reproduce the crash consistently - simulating the OS freeing memory and closing the application) and try to restart it again. The thing is, if I start the application via adb shell using the following command: adb shell am start -a android.intent.action.MAIN -n com.my.packagename/myLaunchActivity I cannot reproduce the crash. So is there any difference in how Android OS calls the application as opposed to the above call?   I have been tasked with sifting through the worst classic asp spaghetti i've ever come across. The script runs a series of recordsets in sequence, getting 1 record at a time. As the record is built it takes the id and passes it to the next loop, which gets data, and passes on the id to the next loop. It then continues in this manner and builds an unordered list, kicking out the required html as it goes. Here are my efforts so far: have a class delivering data via sqldatareaders and output these to nested repeaters (this failed due to not being able to loop and get the id) Have a datatable populated with all the required data, then datatable.select to filter it out. have 4 datareaders looping and building the ul arraylists (I couldnt get the id's to match up) Please can you suggest the best method (with a bit of sample code if possible) to go about doing this conversion? • Font advance calculation problem on Blackberry OS 5.0

  I am currently working on my own implementation of a tab bar for a BlackBerry app, where each tab bar has a title that is right aligned (i.e. the last character in each should be the same distance from the right hand side of the screen). To work out where to draw the text I am using the following calculation: screen width - advance of title - indent. The font I am using is 'BBAlpha Sans' (height 28). Using BlackBerry OS 4.6 everything seems to be calculated properly and the text is aligned when I move between tabs, however I am finding that when I use OS 5.0 it doesn't calculate the advance properly and as a result the alignment is off by maybe 5 pixels or so. With the default font (also BBAlpha Sans, but height 24 - for OS 5.0 at least) it works fine in both versions.. but I don't necessarily always want to use the default font/size, so any ideas what could be going wrong?   I'm playing around with jQTouch for an iPhone OS app that I've been toying with off and on for a while. I wanted to try my hand building it as a web app so I started playing with jQTouch. For reference, here is the page+source (all my code is currently in index.html so you can just "View Source" to see it all): http://rpj.me/doughapp.com/wd/ Essentially, I'm trying to save pertinent JSON objects retrieved from Google Local into DOM objects using the data() method (in this example, obj is the Google Local object): $('#locPane').data('selected', obj); then later (in a different "pane"), retrieving that object to be used: $('#locPane').bind('pageAnimationEnd', function(e, inf) { var selobj = $(this).data('selected'); // use 'selobj' here ... } In Chromium and Safari on the desktop OS (Snow Leopard in my case), this works perfectly (try it out). However, the same code returns undefined for the call to $(this).data('selected') in the second snippet above. I've also tried $('#' + e.target.id).data('selected') and even the naive $('#locPane').data('selected'). All variants return undefined in the iPhone OS version of WebKit, but not on the desktop. Interestingly, the running this on Mobile Safari in the iPhone Simulator fails as well. If you look at the full source, you'll see that I even try to save this object into my global jQTouch object (named jqt in my code). This, too, fails on the mobile platform. Has anyone else ever ran into this? I'll admit to not being a web/javascript programmer by trade, so if I'm making an idiot's error please call me out on it.   I created a HTML5 web app that I’m trying to wrap in a web view and submit to the Mac App Store. I’ve done the following: 1) Opened Xcode 5.0.1 and selected “Create a new Xcode project” 2) Under “OS X” I selected “Application” then I selected “Cocoa Application” then “Next” 3) I entered a “Product Name” and a “Company Identifier” then selected “Next” (I left all the other settings untouched) then “Create” 4) Under “General” “Deployment Info” “Deployment Target” I selected 10.6 — because I want the app to be compatible with all versions of OS X that support the Mac App Store 5) I clicked “MainMenu.xib” and selected “Window - My App” 6) From the “Object library” I drug the “Web View” object into my window and made it fill the window size 7) I saved my project and click the Play button in the upper left corner of Xcode The app tries to open but freezes. I don’t get an error in Xcode but it does open “main.m” and highlight “return NSApplicationMain(argc, argv);” in green and says “Thread 1: signal SIGABRT” I was hoping that someone could clarify why this isn’t working? And provide me with the last step to link the web view object? I searched Google and found tutorials for iOS and a few for OS X but for different versions of Xcode.

• Redirecting or routing all traffic to OpenVPN on a Mac OS X client

  I have configured an OpenVPN (2.2.1) server on an Ubuntu virtual machine in the Amazon elastic compute cloud. The server is up and running. I have installed OpenVPN (2.2.1) on a Mac OS X (10.8.2) client and I am using the openvpn2 binary to connect (in opposition to other clients like Tunnelblick or Viscosity). I can connect with the client and successfully ping or ssh the server through the tunnel. However, I can't redirect all internet traffic through the VPN even if I use the push "redirect-gateway def1 bypass-dhcp" option in the server.conf configurations. When I connect to the server with these configurations, I get a successful connection, but then an infinite series of error messages: "write UDPv4: No route to host (code=65)". Traffic routing seems to be compromised because I am not able to access anything anymore, not even the OpenVPN server (by pinging 10.8.0.1 for instance). This is beyond me. I am finding little help on the web and don't know what to try next. I don't think it is a problem of forwarding the traffic on the server since, first, I have also took care of that and, second, I can't even ping the VPN server locally through the tunnel (or ping anything at all for that matter). • Tutorial: Criando um Componente para o UCM

  Então você já instalou o UCM, seguindo o tutorial: http://blogs.oracle.com/ecmbrasil/2009/05/tutorial_de_instalao_do_ucm.html e também já fez o hands-on: http://blogs.oracle.com/ecmbrasil/2009/10/tutorial_de_ucm.html e agora quer ir além do básico? Quer começar a criar funcionalidades para o UCM? Quer se tornar um desenvolvedor do UCM? Quer criar o Content Server à sua imagem e semelhança?! Pois hoje é o seu dia de sorte! Neste tutorial, iremos aprender a criar um componente para o Content Server. O nosso primeiro componente, embora não seja tão simples, será feito apenas com recursos do Content Server. Em um futuro tutorial, iremos aprender a usar classes java como parte de nossos componentes. Neste tutorial, vamos desenvolver um recurso de Favoritos, aonde os usuários poderão marcar determinados documentos como seus Favoritos, e depois consultar estes documentos em uma lista. Não iremos montar o componente com todas as suas funcionalidades, mas com o que vocês verão aqui, será tranquilo aprimorar este componente, inclusive para ambientes de produção. Componente MyFavorites Algumas características do nosso componente favoritos: - Por motivos de espaço, iremos montar este componente de uma forma “rápida e crua”, ou seja, sem seguir necessariamente as melhores práticas de desenvolvimento de componentes. Para entender melhor a prática de desenvolvimento de componentes, recomendo a leitura do guia Working With Components. - Ele será desenvolvido apenas para português-Brasil. Outros idiomas podem ser adicionados posteriormente. - Ele irá apresentar uma opção “Adicionar aos Favoritos” no menu “Content Actions” (tela Content Information), para que o usuário possa definir este arquivo como um dos seus favoritos. - Ao clicar neste link, o usuário será direcionado à uma tela aonde ele poderá digitar um comentário sobre este favorito, para facilitar a leitura depois. - Os favoritos ficarão salvos em uma tabela de banco de dados que iremos criar como parte do componente - A aba “My Content Server” terá uma opção nova chamada “Meus Favoritos”, que irá trazer uma tela que lista os favoritos, permitindo que o usuário possa deletar os links - Alguns recursos ficarão de fora deste exercício, novamente por motivos de espaço. Mas iremos listar estes recursos ao final, como exercícios complementares. Recursos do nosso Componente O componente Favoritos será desenvolvido com alguns recursos. Vamos conhecer melhor o que são estes recursos e quais são as suas funções: - Query: Uma query é qualquer atividade que eu preciso executar no banco, o famoso CRUD: Criar, Ler, Atualizar, Deletar. Existem diferentes jeitos de chamar a query, dependendo do propósito: Select Query: executa um comando SQL, mas descarta o resultado. Usado apenas para testar se a conexão com o banco está ok. Não será usado no nosso exercício. Execute Query: executa um comando SQL que altera informações do banco. Pode ser um INSERT, UPDATE ou DELETE. Descarta os resultados. Iremos usar Execute Query para criar, alterar e excluir os favoritos. Select Cache Query: executa um comando SQL SELECT e armazena os resultados em um ResultSet. Este ResultSet retorna como resultado do serviço e pode ser manipulado em IDOC, Java ou outras linguagens. Iremos utilizar Select Cache Query para retornar a lista de favoritos de um usuário. - Service: Os serviços são os responsáveis por executar as queries (ou classes java, mas isso é papo para um outro tutorial...). O serviço recebe os parâmetros de entrada, executa a query e retorna o ResultSet (no caso de um SELECT). Os serviços podem ser executados através de templates, páginas IDOC, outras aplicações (através de API), ou diretamente na URL do browser. Neste exercício criaremos serviços para Criar, Editar, Deletar e Listar os favoritos de um usuário. - Template: Os templates são as interfaces gráficas (páginas) que serão apresentadas aos usuários. Por exemplo, antes de executar o serviço que deleta um documento do favoritos, quero que o usuário veja uma tela com o ID do Documento e um botão Confirma, para que ele tenha certeza que está deletando o registro correto. Esta tela pode ser criada como um template. Neste exercício iremos construir templates para os principais serviços, além da página que lista todos os favoritos do usuário e apresenta as ações de editar e deletar. Os templates nada mais são do que páginas HTML com scripts IDOC. A nossa sequência de atividades para o desenvolvimento deste componente será: - Criar a Tabela do banco - Criar o componente usando o Component Wizard - Criar as Queries para inserir, editar, deletar e listar os favoritos - Criar os Serviços que executam estas Queries - Criar os templates, que são as páginas que irão interagir com os usuários - Criar os links, na página de informações do conteúdo e no painel My Content Server Pois bem, vamos começar! • rsync creating thousands of ..ds_store files from mounted volume

  hello there - been using rsync on os x to sync all our website admins. it was working fine until the os x 10.6.3 update! Now it creates thousands of ZeroK folders.
