  • Vagrant (Virtualbox) host-only multiple node networking issue

    - by Lorin Hochstein
I'm trying to use a multi-VM vagrant environment as a testbed for deploying OpenStack, and I've run into a networking problem with trying to communicate from one VM, to a VM-inside-of-a-VM. I have two Vagrant nodes, a cloud controller node and a compute node. I'm using host-only networking. My Vagrantfile looks like this: Vagrant::Config.run do |config| config.vm.box = "precise64" config.vm.define :controller do |controller_config| controller_config.vm.network :hostonly, "192.168.206.130" # eth1 controller_config.vm.network :hostonly, "192.168.100.130" # eth2 controller_config.vm.host_name = "controller" end config.vm.define :compute1 do |compute1_config| compute1_config.vm.network :hostonly, "192.168.206.131" # eth1 compute1_config.vm.network :hostonly, "192.168.100.131" # eth2 compute1_config.vm.host_name = "compute1" compute1_config.vm.customize ["modifyvm", :id, "--memory", 1024] end end When I try to start up a (QEMU-based) VM, it boots successfully on compute1, and its virtual nic (vnet0) is connected via a bridge, br100: root@compute1:~# brctl show 100 bridge name bridge id STP enabled interfaces br100 8000.08002798c6ef no eth2 vnet0 When the QEMU VM makes a request to the DHCP server (dnsmasq) running on controller, I can see the request reaches the controller because of the output on the syslog on the controller: Aug 6 02:34:56 precise64 dnsmasq-dhcp[12042]: DHCPDISCOVER(br100) fa:16:3e:07:98:11 Aug 6 02:34:56 precise64 dnsmasq-dhcp[12042]: DHCPOFFER(br100) 192.168.100.2 fa:16:3e:07:98:11 However, the DHCPOFFER never makes it back to the VM running on compute1. If I watch the requests using tcpdump on the vboxnet3 interface on my host machine that runs Vagrant (Mac OS X), I can see both the requests and the replies $ sudo tcpdump -i vboxnet3 -n port 67 or port 68 tcpdump: WARNING: vboxnet3: That device doesn't support promiscuous mode (BIOCPROMISC: Operation not supported on socket) tcpdump: verbose output suppressed, use -v or -vv for full protocol decode listening on vboxnet3, link-type EN10MB (Ethernet), capture size 65535 bytes 22:51:20.694040 IP 0.0.0.0.68 > 255.255.255.255.67: BOOTP/DHCP, Request from fa:16:3e:07:98:11, length 280 22:51:20.694057 IP 0.0.0.0.68 > 255.255.255.255.67: BOOTP/DHCP, Request from fa:16:3e:07:98:11, length 280 22:51:20.696047 IP 192.168.100.1.67 > 192.168.100.2.68: BOOTP/DHCP, Reply, length 311 22:51:23.700845 IP 0.0.0.0.68 > 255.255.255.255.67: BOOTP/DHCP, Request from fa:16:3e:07:98:11, length 280 22:51:23.700876 IP 0.0.0.0.68 > 255.255.255.255.67: BOOTP/DHCP, Request from fa:16:3e:07:98:11, length 280 22:51:23.701591 IP 192.168.100.1.67 > 192.168.100.2.68: BOOTP/DHCP, Reply, length 311 22:51:26.705978 IP 0.0.0.0.68 > 255.255.255.255.67: BOOTP/DHCP, Request from fa:16:3e:07:98:11, length 280 22:51:26.705995 IP 0.0.0.0.68 > 255.255.255.255.67: BOOTP/DHCP, Request from fa:16:3e:07:98:11, length 280 22:51:26.706527 IP 192.168.100.1.67 > 192.168.100.2.68: BOOTP/DHCP, Reply, length 311 But, if I tcpdump on eth2 on compute, I only see the requests, not the replies: root@compute1:~# tcpdump -i eth2 -n port 67 or port 68 tcpdump: WARNING: eth2: no IPv4 address assigned tcpdump: verbose output suppressed, use -v or -vv for full protocol decode listening on eth2, link-type EN10MB (Ethernet), capture size 65535 bytes 02:51:20.240672 IP 0.0.0.0.68 > 255.255.255.255.67: BOOTP/DHCP, Request from fa:16:3e:07:98:11, length 280 02:51:23.249758 IP 0.0.0.0.68 > 255.255.255.255.67: BOOTP/DHCP, Request from fa:16:3e:07:98:11, length 280 02:51:26.258281 IP 0.0.0.0.68 > 255.255.255.255.67: BOOTP/DHCP, Request from fa:16:3e:07:98:11, length 280 At this point, I'm stuck. I'm not sure why the DHCP replies aren't making it to the compute node. Perhaps it has something to do with the configuration of the VirtualBox virtual switch/router? Note that eth2 interfaces on both nodes have been set to promiscuous mode.

  • Sending the files (At least 11 files) from folder through web service to android app.

    - by Shashank_Itmaster
    Hello All, I stuck in middle of this situation,Please help me out. My question is that I want to send files (Total 11 PDF Files) to android app using web service. I tried it with below code.Main Class from which web service is created public class MultipleFilesImpl implements MultipleFiles { public FileData[] sendPDFs() { FileData fileData = null; // List<FileData> filesDetails = new ArrayList<FileData>(); File fileFolder = new File( "C:/eclipse/workspace/AIPWebService/src/pdfs/"); // File fileTwo = new File( // "C:/eclipse/workspace/AIPWebService/src/simple.pdf"); File sendFiles[] = fileFolder.listFiles(); // sendFiles[0] = fileOne; // sendFiles[1] = fileTwo; DataHandler handler = null; char[] readLine = null; byte[] data = null; int offset = 0; int numRead = 0; InputStream stream = null; FileOutputStream outputStream = null; FileData[] filesData = null; try { System.out.println("Web Service Called Successfully"); for (int i = 0; i < sendFiles.length; i++) { handler = new DataHandler(new FileDataSource(sendFiles[i])); fileData = new FileData(); data = new byte[(int) sendFiles[i].length()]; stream = handler.getInputStream(); while (offset < data.length && (numRead = stream.read(data, offset, data.length - offset)) >= 0) { offset += numRead; } readLine = Base64Coder.encode(data); offset = 0; numRead = 0; System.out.println("'Reading File............................"); System.out.println("\n"); System.out.println(readLine); System.out.println("Data Reading Successful"); fileData.setFileName(sendFiles[i].getName()); fileData.setFileData(String.valueOf(readLine)); readLine = null; System.out.println("Data from bean " + fileData.getFileData()); outputStream = new FileOutputStream("D:/" + sendFiles[i].getName()); outputStream.write(Base64Coder.decode(fileData.getFileData())); outputStream.flush(); outputStream.close(); stream.close(); // FileData fileDetails = new FileData(); // fileDetails = fileData; // filesDetails.add(fileData); filesData = new FileData[(int) sendFiles[i].length()]; } // return fileData; } catch (FileNotFoundException e) { e.printStackTrace(); } catch (IOException e) { e.printStackTrace(); } catch (Exception e) { e.printStackTrace(); } return filesData; } } Also The Interface MultipleFiles:- public interface MultipleFiles extends Remote { public FileData[] sendPDFs() throws FileNotFoundException, IOException, Exception; } Here I am sending an array of bean "File Data",having properties viz. FileData & FileName. FileData- contains file data in encoded. FileName- encoded file name. The Bean:- (FileData) public class FileData { private String fileName; private String fileData; public String getFileName() { return fileName; } public void setFileName(String fileName) { this.fileName = fileName; } public String getFileData() { return fileData; } public void setFileData(String string) { this.fileData = string; } } The android DDMS gives out of memory exception when tried below code & when i tried to send two files then only first file is created. public class PDFActivity extends Activity { private final String METHOD_NAME = "sendPDFs"; private final String NAMESPACE = "http://webservice.uks.com/"; private final String SOAP_ACTION = NAMESPACE + METHOD_NAME; private final String URL = "http://192.168.1.123:8080/AIPWebService/services/MultipleFilesImpl"; /** Called when the activity is first created. */ @Override public void onCreate(Bundle savedInstanceState) { super.onCreate(savedInstanceState); setContentView(R.layout.main); TextView textViewOne = (TextView) findViewById(R.id.textViewOne); try { SoapObject soapObject = new SoapObject(NAMESPACE, METHOD_NAME); SoapSerializationEnvelope envelope = new SoapSerializationEnvelope( SoapEnvelope.VER11); envelope.setOutputSoapObject(soapObject); textViewOne.setText("Web Service Started"); AndroidHttpTransport httpTransport = new AndroidHttpTransport(URL); httpTransport.call(SOAP_ACTION, envelope); // SoapObject result = (SoapObject) envelope.getResponse(); Object result = envelope.getResponse(); Log.i("Result", result.toString()); // String fileName = result.getProperty("fileName").toString(); // String fileData = result.getProperty("fileData").toString(); // Log.i("File Name", fileName); // Log.i("File Data", fileData); // File pdfFile = new File(fileName); // FileOutputStream outputStream = // openFileOutput(pdfFile.toString(), // MODE_PRIVATE); // outputStream.write(Base64Coder.decode(fileData)); Log.i("File", "File Created"); // textViewTwo.setText(result); // Object result = envelope.getResponse(); // FileOutputStream outputStream = openFileOutput(name, mode) } catch (Exception e) { e.printStackTrace(); } } } Please help with some explanation or changes in my code.   • Execute a remote command after sudo - su anotheruser in Rundeck

    - by Bera
I'm new with Rundeck and completely amazed with it and I'm trying to execute a job and my scenario is detailed below: Rundeck is configured with ssh passwordless authentication for user master between node Server (rundeck server) and node Target (remote Solaris host) for user "master" In node Target I want to execute a script /app/acme/stopApp.sh with a user appmanager Normally and manually, when I need to run script above I proceed with ssh master@server sudo su - appmanager or simply ssh -t master@server 'sudo su - appmanager' works without password and finally run (as appmanager) /app/acme/stopApp.sh But I'm not sure how can I reproduce these steps using Rundeck. I read in some previous messages that for each job line rundeck use a new ssh connection, so the workflow below always fails for me with the messages: sudo: no tty present and no askpass program specified Remote command failed with exit status 1 Please someone could help me with some information to solve this issue. Without this functionality I wouldn't be able to introduce a little DevOps in my department. I read the user guide and admin guide but I couldn't find an easy example, neither in this forum, to follow.

  • Stopping an specify Apache instance

    - by user1435991
I have two Apache instances setup in my server (Solaris 10): Instance 1: /etc/apache2 Instance 2: /etc/apache2-instance2 To start the instance 1, I execute the following command: /usr/apache2/bin/apachectl -f /etc/apache2/httpd.conf And instance 2: /usr/apache2/bin/apachectl -f /etc/apache2-instance2/httpd.conf Both instances run perfectly, however the problem comes when I want to stop the instances. I have not been able to find a parameter to indicate what instance I want to stop. if I execute this command: /usr/apache2/bin/apachectl -k stop It will stop always the Instance 1 (the default one). The only solution that I could find to stop the instance 2 was to do this: kill -TERM 'cat /var/run/apache2-instance2/httpd.pid' Is this the only way to do it? or what is the best solution? I remember that I did something similar in Ubuntu setting a the global variable APACHE_CONFDIR before calling apachectl

  • phpMyAdmin says mcrypt is missing, but it's not; cannot log in

    - by GradysGhost
I've just compiled a web stack on Solaris 10. This is a fairly standard Apache 2 / MySQL 5 / PHP 5 stack with all the most recent stable versions. I dropped phpMyAdmin on the server and set up httpd.conf to get that online. When I browse to the page, login fails, and a persistent message appears beneath the login form: The mcrypt extension is missing. Please check your PHP configuration. However, I compiled PHP with the --with-mcrypt flag. A file, info.php: <?php phpinfo(); ?> shows that mcrypt support is enabled. Running: php -m on the command line shows that mcrypt is loaded. Google hasn't been much help, and I was hoping someone around these parts could throw some help my way. If I need to provide any further detail, please let me know what you need to know.

  • Downloading stuff from Oracle: an example

    - by user12587121
Introduction Oracle has a lot of software on offer.  Components of the stack can evolve at different rates and different versions of the components may be in use at any given time.  All this means that even the process of downloading the bits you need can be somewhat daunting.  Here, by way of example, and hopefully to convince you that there is method in the downloading madness,  we describe how to go about downloading the bits for Oracle Identity Manager  (OIM) 11.1.1.5.Firstly, a couple of preliminary points: Folks with Oracle products already installed and looking for bug fixes, patch bundles or patch sets would go directly to the Oracle support website. This Oracle document is a comprehensive description of the Oracle FMW download process and the licensing that applies to downloaded software.   Downloading Oracle Identity Manager 11.1.1.5     To be sure we download the right versions, first locate the Certification Matrix for OIM 11.1.1.5: first go to the Fusion Certification Page then go to the “System Requirements and Supported Platforms for Oracle Identity and Access Management 11gR1” link. Let’s assume you have a 64 bit Linux Machine and an Oracle database already.  Then our  goal is to end up with a list of files like the following: jdk-6u29-linux-x64.bin                    (Java JDK)V26017-01.zip                             (the Repository Creation Utility to create the DB schemas)wls1035_generic.jar                       (the Weblogic Application Server)ofm_iam_generic_11.1.1.5.0_disk1_1of1.zip (the Identity Managament bits)ofm_soa_generic_11.1.1.5.0_disk1_1of2.zip (the SOA bits)ofm_soa_generic_11.1.1.5.0_disk1_2of2.zip jdevstudio11115install.exe                (optional: JDeveloper IDE)soa-jdev-extension.zip                    (optional: SOA extensions for JDeveloper) Downloading the bits 1.    Download the Java JDK, 64 bit version 1.6.0_24+.2.    Download the RCU: here you will see that the RCU is mentioned on the Identity Management home page but no link is provided.  Do not panic.  Due to the amount and turnover of software available only the latest versions are available for download from the main Oracle site.  Over time software gets moved on to the Oracle edelivery site and it is here that we find the RCU version we require: a.    Go to edelivery: https://edelivery.oracle.com b.    Choose Pack ‘ Oracle Fusion Middleware’ and ‘Linux x86-64’ c.    Click on ‘Oracle Fusion Middleware 11g Media Pack for Linux x86-64’ d.    Download: ‘Oracle Fusion Middleware Repository Creation Utility 11g (11.1.1.5.0) for Linux x86’ (V26017.zip) 3.    Download the Weblogic Application Server: WLS 10.3.54.    Download the Oracle Identity Manager bits: one point to clarify here is that currently  the Identity Management bits come in two trains, essentially one for the Directory Services piece and the other for the Access Management and Identity Management parts.  We need to be careful not to confuse the two, in particular to be clear which of the trains is being referred to by  the documentation: a.   So, with this in mind, go to ‘ Oracle Identity and Access Management (11.1.1.5.0)’ and download Disk1. 5.    Download the SOA bits: a.    Go to the edelivery area as for the RCU and download: i.    Oracle SOA Suite 11g Patch Set 4 (11.1.1.5.0) (Part 1 of 2) ii.    Oracle SOA Suite 11g Patch Set 4 (11.1.1.5.0) (Part 2 of 2) 6.    You will want to download some development tooling (for plugins or BPEL workflow development): a.    Download Jdeveloper 11.1.1.5 (11.1.1.6 may work but best to stick to the versions that correspond to the WLS version we are using) b.    Go to the site for  SOA tools and download the SOA Composite Editor 11.1.1.5 That’s it, you may proceed to the installation.

  • How do I connect to the serial console port os a Sunfire 280R?

    - by DrStalker
We have a Sunfire 280R (old SPARC/Solaris server) that is refusing to come up after being relocated. We're trying to connect to the serial console port, but all we get is random gibberish on the screen. We've tried both connecting with a DB25DB9 adapter and using a DB-25-RJ45 adapter with a cisco RJ45-DB9 adapter to a windows laptop. We're configuring the laptop to 9600 baud, 8 bit, 1 stop bit, no parity. We've tried both no flow control and Xon/Xoff. We get the same results hooking up to the serial port on a working SPARC server, so it's probably something in our setup rather than a fault with the server. How do we get access to to serial console so we can work out what is stopping this box from getting to the network? Is there a special sun adapter we need to get/make to get the serial link working?

  • What is the correct term for the number of bits used by an operating system

    - by benc
Recently, some discussions came up about 32 bit vs. 64 bit implementations of operating systems. While I was composing a message about this topic, I realized that I did not know if there was a correct term for the number of bits supported by an operating system. For example, various versions of Solaris and Linux have 32bit and 64bit releases. Is the distinction "architecture"? In my experience, that has referred to chip types (Intel vs. PPC). Is it a "release"? Typically, I think of a release as a version number a consistent feature set, that might run on different architectures. Maybe it is just "architecture", after all, even though a chip family might have used several different bit sizes over time, the chips themselves are different when you jump from 32bit to 64bit.

  • Reading a ZFS USB drive with Mac OS X Mountain Lion

    - by Karim Berrah
The problem: I'm using a MacBook, mainly with Solaris 11, but something with Mac OS X (ML). The only missing thing is that Mac OS X can't read my external ZFS based USB drive, where I store all my data. So, I decided to look for a solution. Possible solution: I decided to use VirtualBox with a Solaris 11 VM as a passthrough to my data. Here are the required steps: Installing a Solaris 11 VM Install VirtualBox on your Mac OS X, add the extension pack (needed for USB) Plug your ZFS based USB drive on your Mac, ignore it when asked to initialize it. Create a VM for Solaris (bridged network), and before installing it, create a USB filter (in the settings of your Vbox VM, go to Ports, then USB, then add a new USB filter from the attached device "grey usb-connector logo with green plus sign")  Install a Solaris 11 VM, boot it, and install the Guest addition check with "ifconfg -a" the IP address of your Solaris VM Creating a path to your ZFS USB drive In MacOS X, use the "Disk Utility" to unmount the USB attached drive, and unplug the USB device. Switch back to VirtualBox, select the top of the window where your Solaris 11 is running plug your ZFS USB drive, select "ignore" if Mac OS invite you to initialize the disk In the VirtualBox VM menu, go to "Devices" then "USB Devices" and select from the dropping menu your "USB device" Connection your Solaris VM to the USB drive Inside Solaris, you might now check that your device is accessible by using the "format" cli command If not, repeat previous steps Now, with root privilege, force a zpool import -f myusbdevicepoolname because this pool was created on another system check that you see your new pool with "zpool status" share your pool with NFS: share -F NFS /myusbdevicepoolname Accessing the USB ZFS drive from Mac OS X This is the easiest step: access an NFS share from mac OS Create a "ZFSdrive" folder on your MacOS desktop from a terminal under mac OS: mount -t nfs IPadressofMySoalrisVM:/myusbdevicepoolname  /Users/yourusername/Desktop/ZFSdrive et voila ! you might access your data, on a ZFS USB drive, directly from your Mountain Lion Desktop. You might play with the share rights in order to alter any read/write rights as needed. You might activate compression, encryption inside the Solaris 11 VM ...

Long and short, the T1000 makes more noise than 7 HP Servers combined. Firmware updated to latest version. PICL running under Solaris OK. Diagnostics all OK. It is driving us mad. We have a server room in our small office and we can hear this baby through thick concrete.... I cannot believe Sun doesn't mention how loud they are.... thought this was an environmentally friendly server.. Help really appreciated before it drives us all mad.

  • Extremely slow startup of tomcat

    - by Henrik
I have a tomcat 7 installation on a Solaris 10 server. My problem is that starting the server (or deploying a new war) is extremely slow. It usually take 30 - 60 minutes. The war application is a medium sized grails application so there are quite a a lot of files. The server is running other server applications as well but from my basic skills I don't see this as a problem. Can anyone give me some tips on how to analyse this? Settings in Tomcat, java, server, disc access or something else? I use these parameters to tomcat: CATALINA_OPTS="-Dcom.sun.management.jmxremote=true -Djava.awt.headless=true -Dfile.encoding=UTF-8 -server -Xms1536m -Xmx1536m -XX:NewSize=256m -XX:MaxNewSize=256m -XX:PermSize=512m -XX:MaxPermSize=512m -XX:+DisableExplicitGC" And I use a 32 bit java 1.6.

  • How to synchronize users, passwords, hosts, etc without NIS

    - by joshxdr
I am administering a very small solaris 2.6 network with 4 boxes total. Is it possible to use scp or similar to replace NIS for synchronizing users, groups, hosts, etc? This network is only a small part of my job and I don't want to spend too much time on it, and I am worried the setup and maintenence of NIS will not pay off. I need it to behave like a proper multi-user system, when a user logs into any machine, the users, passwords, hosts, etc. are always the same. Is there an easy way to do this with scp? Right now I copy /etc/passwd from one box to another with scp, but sometimes I make mistakes or forget a step, and scp inside of shell scripts don't seem to works so well since they require password authentication. Any recommendations would be welcome.

  • Top causes of slow ssh logins

    - by Peter Lyons
I'd love for one of you smart and helpful folks to post a list of common causes of delays during an ssh login. Specifically, there are 2 spots where I see a range from instantaneous to multi-second delays. Between issuing the ssh command and getting a login prompt and between entering the passphrase and having the shell load Now, specifically I'm looking at ssh details only here. Obviously network latency, speed of the hardware and OSes involved, complex login scripts, etc can cause delays. For context I ssh to a vast multitude of linux distributions and some Solaris hosts using mostly Ubuntu, CentOS, and MacOS X as my client systems. Almost all of the time, the ssh server configuration is unchanged from the OS's default settings. What ssh server configurations should I be interested in? Are there OS/kernel parameters that can be tuned? Login shell tricks? Etc?

  • Thread Blocks During Call

    I have a serious problem, I'm developing an application that mesures on call time during a call; the problem presents when, with the phone on the ear, the thread that the timer has, blocks and no longer responds before taking off my ear. The next log shows the problem. 01-11 16:14:19.607 14558 14566 I Estado : postDelayed Async Service 01-11 16:14:20.607 14558 14566 I Estado : postDelayed Async Service 01-11 16:14:21.607 14558 14566 I Estado : postDelayed Async Service 01-11 16:14:22.597 14558 14566 I Estado : postDelayed Async Service 01-11 16:14:23.608 14558 14566 I Estado : postDelayed Async Service 01-11 16:14:24.017 1106 1106 D iddd : select() < 0, Probably a handled signal: Interrupted system call 01-11 16:14:24.607 14558 14566 I Estado : postDelayed Async Service 01-11 16:18:05.500 1106 1106 D iddd : select() < 0, Probably a handled signal: Interrupted system call 01-11 16:18:06.026 14558 14566 I Estado : postDelayed Async Service 01-11 16:18:06.026 14558 14566 I Estado : postDelayed Async Service 01-11 16:18:06.026 14558 14566 I Estado : postDelayed Async Service 01-11 16:18:06.026 14558 14566 I Estado : postDelayed Async Service 01-11 16:18:06.026 14558 14566 I Estado : postDelayed Async Service 01-11 16:18:06.026 14558 14566 I Estado : postDelayed Async Service I've been trying with Services, Timers, Threads, AyncTasks and they all present the same problem.   • Java application failing on special characters.

    - by Scottm
An application I am working on reads information from files to populate a database. Some of the characters in the files are non-English, for example accented French characters. The application is working fine in Windows but on our Solaris machine it is failing to recognise the special characters and is throwing an exception. For example when it encounters the accented e in "Gérer" it says :- Encountered: "\u0161" (353), after : "\'G\u00c3\u00a9rer les mod\u00c3" (an exception which is thrown from our application) I suspect that in order to stop this from happening I need to change the file.encoding property of the JVM. I tried to do this via System.setProperty() but it has not stopped the error from occurring. Are there any suggestions for what I could do? I was thinking about setting the basic locale of the solaris platform in /etc/default/init to be UTF-8. Does anyone think this might help? Any thoughts are much appreciated.

  • How can I find out the original username a process was started with?

    - by szabgab
There is a perl script that needs to run as root but the we must make sure the user who runs the script did not log-in originally as user foo as it will be removed during the script. So how can I find out if the user, who might have su-ed several times since she logged in has not impersonated 'foo' at any time in that chain? I found an interesting perl script that was calling the following two shell scripts, but I think that would only work on Solaris. my $shell_paren = `ps -ef | grep -v grep | awk \'{print \$2\" \"\$3}\' | egrep \"^@_\" | awk \'{print \$2}'`; my $parent_owner = `ps -ef | grep -v grep | awk \'{print \$1\" \"\$2}\' | grep @_ | awk \'{print \$1}\'`; This needs to work on both Linux and Solaris and I'd rather eliminate the repeated calls to he the shell and keep the whole thing in Perl.
