  • xcode may not respond to warning

    - by Frames84
    Hi all, Can't seem to get rid of a warning. The warning is: 'UIImage' may not respond to '-scaleToSize' above the @implmentation MyViewController I have this @implementation: @implementation UIImage (scale) -(UIImage*)scaleToSize:(CGSize)size { UIGraphicsBeginImageContext(size); [self drawInRect:CGRectMake(0, 0, size.width, size.height)]; UIImage* scaledImage = UIGraphicsGetImageFromCurrentImageContext(); UIGraphicsEndImageContext(); return scaledImage; } @end Then I have MyViewController implementation @implementation TodayNewsTableViewController @synthesize dataList; ...... - (UITableViewCell *)tableView:(UITableView *)tableView cellForRowAtIndexPath:(NSIndexPath *)indexPath { static NSString *MainNewsCellIdentifier = @"MainNewsCellIdentifier"; UITableViewCell *cell = [tableView dequeueReusableCellWithIdentifier: MainNewsCellIdentifier]; if (cell == nil) { cell = [[[UITableViewCell alloc] initWithStyle:UITableViewCellStyleSubtitle reuseIdentifier: MainNewsCellIdentifier] autorelease]; } NSUInteger row = [indexPath row]; NSDictionary *stream = (NSDictionary *) [dataList objectAtIndex:row]; NSString *title = [stream valueForKey:@"title"]; if( ! [title isKindOfClass:[NSString class]] ) { cell.textLabel.text = @""; } else { cell.textLabel.text = title; } cell.textLabel.numberOfLines = 2; cell.textLabel.font =[UIFont systemFontOfSize:10]; cell.detailTextLabel.numberOfLines = 1; cell.detailTextLabel.font= [UIFont systemFontOfSize:8]; cell.detailTextLabel.text = [stream valueForKey:@"created"]; NSString *i = [NSString stringWithFormat:@"http://www.mywebsite.co.uk/images/%@", [stream valueForKey:@"image"]]; NSData *imageURL = [[NSData alloc] initWithContentsOfURL:[NSURL URLWithString:i]]; UIImage *newsImage = [[UIImage alloc] initWithData:imageURL] ; UIImage *scaledImage = [newsImage scaleToSize:CGSizeMake(50.0f, 50.0f)]; // warning is appearing here. cell.imageView.image = scaledImage; [imageURL release]; [newsImage release]; return cell; } Thanks for your time in advance.   • How can I get at the raw bytes of the request in WCF?

    - by Gregory Higley
    For logging purposes, I want to get at the raw request sent to my RESTful web service implemented in WCF. I have already implemented IDispatchMessageInspector. In my implementation of AfterReceiveRequest, I want to spit out the raw bytes of the message even (and especially) if the content of the message is invalid. This is for debugging purposes. My service works perfectly already, but it is often helpful when working through problems with clients who are trying to call the service to know what it was they sent, i.e., the raw bytes. For example, let's say that instead of sending a well-formed XML document, they post the string "your mama" to my service endpoint. I want to see that that's what they did. Unfortunately using MessageBuffer::CreateBufferedCopy() won't work unless the contents of the message are already well-formed XML. Here's (roughly) what I already have in my implementation of AfterReceiveRequest: // The immediately following line raises an exception if the message // does not contain valid XML. This is uncool because I want // the raw bytes regardless of whether they are valid or not. using (MessageBuffer buffer = request.CreateBufferedCopy(Int32.MaxValue)) { using (MemoryStream stream = new MemoryStream()) using (StreamReader reader = new StreamReader(stream)) { buffer.WriteMessage(stream); stream.Position = 0; Trace.TraceInformation(reader.ReadToEnd()); } request = buffer.CreateMessage(); } My guess here is that I need to get at the raw request before it becomes a Message. This will most likely have to be done at a lower level in the WCF stack than an IDispatchMessageInspector. Anyone know how to do this?

  • What's the best way to read a UDT from a database with Java?

    - by Lukas Eder
    I thought I knew everything about UDTs and JDBC until someone on SO pointed out some details of the Javadoc of java.sql.SQLInput and java.sql.SQLData JavaDoc to me. The essence of that hint was (from SQLInput): An input stream that contains a stream of values representing an instance of an SQL structured type or an SQL distinct type. This interface, used only for custom mapping, is used by the driver behind the scenes, and a programmer never directly invokes SQLInput methods. This is quite the opposite of what I am used to do (which is also used and stable in productive systems, when used with the Oracle JDBC driver): Implement SQLData and provide this implementation in a custom mapping to ResultSet.getObject(int index, Map mapping) The JDBC driver will then call-back on my custom type using the SQLData.readSQL(SQLInput stream, String typeName) method. I implement this method and read each field from the SQLInput stream. In the end, getObject() will return a correctly initialised instance of my SQLData implementation holding all data from the UDT. To me, this seems like the perfect way to implement such a custom mapping. Good reasons for going this way: I can use the standard API, instead of using vendor-specific classes such as oracle.sql.STRUCT, etc. I can generate source code from my UDTs, with appropriate getters/setters and other properties My questions: What do you think about my approach, implementing SQLData? Is it viable, even if the Javadoc states otherwise? What other ways of reading UDT's in Java do you know of? E.g. what does Spring do? what does Hibernate do? What does JPA do? What do you do? Addendum: UDT support and integration with stored procedures is one of the major features of jOOQ. jOOQ aims at hiding the more complex "JDBC facts" from client code, without hiding the underlying database architecture. If you have similar questions like the above, jOOQ might provide an answer to you.

  • How to host WCF service and TCP server on same socket?

    - by Ole Jak
    Tooday I use ServiceHost for self hosting WCF cervices. I want to host near to my WCF services my own TCP programm for direct sockets operations (like lien to some sort of broadcasting TCP stream) I need control over namespaces (so I would be able to let my clients to send TCP streams directly into my service using some nice URLs like example.com:port/myserver/stream?id=1 or example.com:port/myserver/stream?id=anything and so that I will not be bothered with Idea of 1 client for 1 socket at one time moment, I realy want to keep my WCF services on the same port as my own server or what it is so to be able to call www.example.com:port/myWCF/stream?id=222...) Can any body please help me with this? I am using just WCF now. And I do not enjoy how it works. That is one of many resons why I want to start migration to clear TCP=) I can not use net-tcp binding or any sort of other cool WS-* binding (tooday I use the simpliest one so that my clients like Flash, AJAX, etc connect to me with ease). I needed Fast and easy in implemrnting connection protocol like one I created fore use with Sockets for real time hi ammount of data transfering. So.. Any Ideas? Please - I need help.

  • JMF microphone volume controller

    - by TacB0sS
    How to obtain the Microphone volume controller in JMF? this is what I have: I tried this implementation concept of yours, but I keep getting a null from the first volume processor when I try to get the stream, here is how I do it: // the device is the media device specifically audio Processor processorForVolume = Manager.createProcessor(device.getLocator()); // wait until configured ProcessorStates newState = new ProcessorStateListener(Processor.Configured).waitForProcessorState(processorForVolume); System.out.println("volumeProcessorState: "+newState); // setting the content descriptor to null - read in another thread this allows to get the gain control processorForVolume.setContentDescriptor(null); // set the track control format to one supported by the device and the track control. // I didn't match it to an RTP allowed format, but I don't think this has anything to do with it... TrackControl[] trackControls = processorForVolume.getTrackControls(); if (trackControls.length == 0) throw new MC_Exception("No track controls where found for this device:", new Object[]{device}); for (TrackControl control : trackControls) trackManipulator.manipulateTrackControls(control); // wait until the processor is realized newState = new ProcessorStateListener(Controller.Realized).waitForProcessorState(processorForVolume); System.out.println("volumeProcessorState: "+newState); // receives the gain control micVolumeController = processorForVolume.getGainControl(); // cannot get the output stream to process further... any suggestions? processor = Manager.createProcessor(processorForVolume.getDataOutput()); new ProcessorStateListener(Processor.Configured).waitForProcessorState(processor); processor.setContentDescriptor(DeviceCapturingManager.RAW_RTP); new ProcessorStateListener(Controller.Realized).waitForProcessorState(processor); this is the output It generates: volumeProcessorState: Configured format set to track control - com.sun.media.ProcessEngine$ProcTControl@1627c16: LINEAR, 48000.0 Hz, 16-bit, Stereo, LittleEndian, Signed volumeProcessorState: Realized and the data output from the processor is Null. I should make clear that when the content descriptor != null I do get an output stream but not the volume controller, and the when it is null I get the controller, but no stream. I try to connect to an audio microphone device Adam.

  • Need an explanation on this code - c#

    - by ltech
    I am getting familiar with C# day by day and I came across this piece of code public static void CopyStreamToStream( Stream source, Stream destination, Action<Stream,Stream,Exception> completed) { byte[] buffer = new byte[0x1000]; AsyncOperation asyncOp = AsyncOperationManager.CreateOperation(null); Action<Exception> done = e => { if (completed != null) asyncOp.Post(delegate { completed(source, destination, e); }, null); }; AsyncCallback rc = null; rc = readResult => { try { int read = source.EndRead(readResult); if (read > 0) { destination.BeginWrite(buffer, 0, read, writeResult => { try { destination.EndWrite(writeResult); source.BeginRead( buffer, 0, buffer.Length, rc, null); } catch (Exception exc) { done(exc); } }, null); } else done(null); } catch (Exception exc) { done(exc); } }; source.BeginRead(buffer, 0, buffer.Length, rc, null); } From this article Article What I fail to follow is that how does the delegate get notified that the copy is done? Say after the copy is done I want to perform an operation on the copied file.

  • Converting an AnsiString to a Unicode String

    - by jrodenhi
    I'm converting a D2006 program to D2010. I have a value stored in a single byte per character string in my database and I need to load it into a control that has a LoadFromStream, so my plan was to write the string to a stream and use that with LoadFromStream. But it did not work. In studying the problem, I see an issue that tells me that I don't really understand how conversion from AnsiString to Unicode string works. Here is some code I am puzzling over: oStringStream := TStringStream.Create(sBuffer); sUnicodeStream := oPayGrid.sStream; //explicit conversion to unicode string iSize1 := StringElementSize(oPaygrid.sStream); iSize2 := StringElementSize(sUnicodeStream); oStringStream.WriteString(sUnicodeStream); When I get to the last line, iSize1 does equal 1 and iSize2 does equal 2, so that part is what I understood from my reading. But, on the last line, after I write the string to the stream, and look at the Bytes Property of the string, it shows this (the string starts as '16,159'): (49 {$31}, 54 {$36}, 44 {$2C}, 49 {$31}, 53 {$35}, 57 {$39} ... I was expecting that it might look something like (49 {$31}, 00 {$00}, 54 {$36}, 00 {$00}, 44 {$2C}, 00 {$00}, 49 {$31}, 00 {$00}, 53 {$35}, 00 {$00}, 57 {$39}, 00 {$00} ... I'm not getting the right results out of the LoadFromStream because it is reading from the stream two bytes at a time, but the data it is receiving is not arranged that way. What is it that I should do to give the LoadFromStream a well formed stream of data based on a unicode string? Thank you for your help.

  • Problem with filefield module after migrating drupal site to a new server: cant upload files

    - by oalo
    We have a content type with two imagefield / filefield fields, and after migrating our site to a new server, we have the following problem: When we submit a new item for this content type, with two images for those fields, drupal gives us the following error and does not upload the images: warning: fopen(sites/default/files/.htaccess) [function.fopen]: failed to open stream: Permission denied in /websites/sitename/data/sites/all/modules/filefield/field_file.inc on line 349. warning: fopen(sites/default/files/.htaccess) [function.fopen]: failed to open stream: Permission denied in /websites/sitename/data/sites/all/modules/filefield/field_file.inc on line 349. Line 349 of file.inc has the following code: if (($fp = fopen("$directory/.htaccess", 'w')) && fputs($fp, $htaccess_lines)) { fclose($fp); chmod($directory .'/.htaccess', 0664); } else { $repl = array('%directory' = $directory, '!htaccess' = nl2br(check_plain($htaccess_lines))); form_set_error($form_item, t("Security warning: Couldn't write .htaccess file. • DRYing out implementation of ICloneable in several classes

    - by Sarah Vessels
    I have several different classes that I want to be cloneable: GenericRow, GenericRows, ParticularRow, and ParticularRows. There is the following class hierarchy: GenericRow is the parent of ParticularRow, and GenericRows is the parent of ParticularRows. Each class implements ICloneable because I want to be able to create deep copies of instances of each. I find myself writing the exact same code for Clone() in each class: object ICloneable.Clone() { object clone; using (var stream = new MemoryStream()) { var formatter = new BinaryFormatter(); // Serialize this object formatter.Serialize(stream, this); stream.Position = 0; // Deserialize to another object clone = formatter.Deserialize(stream); } return clone; } I then provide a convenience wrapper method, for example in GenericRows: public GenericRows Clone() { return (GenericRows)((ICloneable)this).Clone(); } I am fine with the convenience wrapper methods looking about the same in each class because it's very little code and it does differ from class to class by return type, cast, etc. However, ICloneable.Clone() is identical in all four classes. Can I abstract this somehow so it is only defined in one place? My concern was that if I made some utility class/object extension method, it would not correctly make a deep copy of the particular instance I want copied. Is this a good idea anyway?

  • How do I build a filtered_streambuf based on basic_streambuf?

    - by swestrup
    I have a project that requires me to insert a filter into a stream so that outgoing data will be modified according to the filter. After some research, it seems that what I want to do is create a filtered_streambuf like this: template <class StreamBuf class filtered_streambuf: public StreamBuf { ... } And then insert a filtered_streambuf<> into whichever stream I need to be filtered. My problem is that I don't know what invariants I need to maintain while filtering a stream, in order to ensure that Derived classes can work as expected. In particular, I may find I have filtered_streambufs built over other filtered_streambufs. All the various stream inserters, extractors and manipulators work as expected. The trouble is that I just can't seem to work out what the minimal interface is that I need to supply in order to guarantee that an iostream will have what it needs to work correctly. In particular, do I need to fake the movement of the protected pointer variables, or not? Do I need a fake data buffer, or not? Can I just override the public functions, rewriting them in terms of the base streambuf, or is that too simplistic?

  • trouble setting up anonymous login in ejabberd

    - by sofia
    Hi, In ejabberd.cfg I have the following {host_config, "thisislove-MacBook-2.local", [{auth_method, [internal, anonymous]}, {allow_multiple_connections, false}, {anonymous_protocol, both}]}. but when using speeqe javascript client (speeqe.com) to connect, I see it sends <body rid='1366284187' xmlns='http://jabber.org/protocol/httpbind' to='thisislove-macbook-2.local' xml:lang='en' wait='60' hold='1' window='5' content='text/xml; charset=utf-8' ver='1.6' xmpp:version='1.0' xmlns:xmpp='urn:xmpp:xbosh'/> and the server responds with <body xmlns='http://jabber.org/protocol/httpbind' sid='f89bf034b02fa6b884bb0c55be3f1f69e45e3866' wait='60' requests='2' inactivity='30' maxpause='120' polling='2' ver='1.8' from='thisislove-macbook-2.local' secure='true' authid='353072658' xmlns:xmpp='urn:xmpp:xbosh' xmlns:stream='http://etherx.jabber.org/streams' xmpp:version='1.0'><stream:features xmlns:stream='http://etherx.jabber.org/streams'><mechanisms xmlns='urn:ietf:params:xml:ns:xmpp-sasl'><mechanism>DIGEST-MD5</mechanism><mechanism>PLAIN</mechanism></mechanisms><register xmlns='http://jabber.org/features/iq-register'/></stream:features></body> Notice the mechanisms, DIGEST-MD5 & PLAIN. If I'm not mistaken it should have ANONYMOUS as a mechanism as well. So what happens is that speeqe simply terminates the connection. As such I'm thinking i must be missing something in the anonymous configuration or the muc config. In the mod_muc configg, I have {mod_muc, [ %%{host, "conference.@HOST@"}, {access, muc}, {access_create, muc}, {access_persistent, muc}, {access_admin, muc_admin}, {max_room_name, 190}, {max_room_desc, 190}, {max_users, 500} ]} So what am I missing?   • Read quicktime movie from servlet in a webpage?

    - by khue
    Hi, I have a servlet that construct response to a media file request by reading the file from server: File uploadFile = new File("C:\\TEMP\\movie.mov"); FileInputStream in = new FileInputStream(uploadFile); Then write that stream to the response stream. My question is how do I play the media file in the webpage using embed or object tag to read the media stream from the response? Here is my code in the servlet: public void doPost(HttpServletRequest request, HttpServletResponse response) throws ServletException, IOException { request.getParameter("location"); uploadFile(response); } private void uploadFile(HttpServletResponse response) { File transferFile = new File("C:/TEMP/captured.mov"); FileInputStream in = null; try { in = new FileInputStream(transferFile); } catch (FileNotFoundException e) { System.out.println("File not found"); } try { System.out.println("in byes i s" + in.available()); } catch (IOException e) { } DataOutputStream responseStream = null; try { responseStream = new DataOutputStream(response.getOutputStream()); } catch (IOException e) { System.out.println("Io exception"); } try { Util.copyStream(in, responseStream); } catch (CopyStreamException e) { System.out.println("copy Stream exception"); } try { responseStream.flush(); } catch (IOException e) { } try { responseStream.close(); } catch (IOException e) { } } And here is html page as Ryan suggested: <embed SRC="http://localhost:7101/movies/transferservlet" WIDTH=100 HEIGHT=196 AUTOPLAY=true CONTROLLER=true LOOP=false PLUGINSPAGE="http://www.apple.com/quicktime/"> Any ideas?

  • "A generic error occurred in GDI+" error while showing uploaded images

    - by Prasad
    i am using the following code to show the image that has been saved in my database from my asp.net mvc(C#) application:. public ActionResult GetSiteHeaderLogo() { SiteHeader _siteHeader = new SiteHeader(); Image imgImage = null; long userId = Utility.GetUserIdFromSession(); if (userId > 0) { _siteHeader = this.siteBLL.GetSiteHeaderLogo(userId); if (_siteHeader.Logo != null && _siteHeader.Logo.Length > 0) { byte[] _imageBytes = _siteHeader.Logo; if (_imageBytes != null) { using (System.IO.MemoryStream imageStream = new System.IO.MemoryStream(_imageBytes)) { imgImage = Image.FromStream(imageStream); } } string sFileExtension = _siteHeader.FileName.Substring(_siteHeader.FileName.IndexOf('.') + 1, _siteHeader.FileName.Length - (_siteHeader.FileName.IndexOf('.') + 1)); Response.ContentType = Utility.GetContentTypeByExtension(sFileExtension.ToLower()); Response.Cache.SetCacheability(HttpCacheability.NoCache); Response.BufferOutput = false; if (imgImage != null) { ImageFormat _imageFormat = Utility.GetImageFormat(sFileExtension.ToLower()); imgImage.Save(Response.OutputStream, _imageFormat); imgImage.Dispose(); } } } return new EmptyResult(); } It works fine when i upload original image. But when i upload any downloaded images, it throws the following error: System.Runtime.InteropServices.ExternalException: A generic error occurred in GDI+.   • IIS7 dynamic content compression and webservices

    - by vandalo
    I am moving and old asmx webservice to a new server with IIS7. This webservice basically sends a big dataset (10mb+) to a winform application. The old solution was implemented using a custom soap extension which compressed the content before sending the stream to the client. The client, of course, implemented the same custom soap extension, to decompressed the stream in a dataset. Everything has worked pretty well for years. My customer doesn't want to change the code upgrading to WCF. They just want to put the old App on the new server and use the new dynamic content compression features. We're testing things on a test server (win serv 2008) and it seems that it's working pretty well, even if it seems slow: we can't see any difference in performance (speed) between the uncompressed and compressed stream. Here's the question. Where should I put the settings? Most people say I can't put it in my web.config; others say it can be put there. I am a bit confused. Are there any tricks or things I should know? What about mimeTypes? Should I set some parameters, somewhere? ... considering my stream is XML (dataset) ?? Thanks to everyone who would like to help Alberto

  • Flash Player: Any remedy for the stale video image data problem (in a reused NetStream object)?

    - by amn
    Has anyone experienced stale stills of a previous playback for a reused NetStream object? If so, what are the workarounds for this, except re-creating the object (which eats performance and time)? It is hard to reuse NetStream objects because of a (in my opinion) fundamental issue with NetStream objects - when you 'close' a playing stream and at a later point issue a 'play' call on it again with a different name, the stream appears to still contain a stale image lingering from previous playback, and this is of course displayed in the Video object for a moment - the moment I assume it takes for new stream data to become available from server. Because of this behavior, to improve my users' visual experience, I simply discard a NetStream object after a playback session, and assign a new NetStream object to the same variable, set it up, and play something else. It appears to work - no stale image - but what bugs me is that it's a work around and costs performance (construction and setting up the object again - event listeners and 'client' delegates and more memory usage - NetStream objects are not garbage collected immediately, it takes some time). It would be really nice to REALLY be able to reuse a stream. I am thinking of something akin to Video.clear method, but for the NetStream class. Am I missing something?

  • Silverlight 4, Google Chrome, and HttpWebRequest problem

    - by synergetic
    My Silvrlight 4 application hosted in ASP.NET MVC 2 working fine when used through Internet Explorer 8, both in development server and remote web server (IIS 6.0). However when I try to browse through Google Chrome (version 5.0.375.70) it throws "remote server returned not found" error. The code causing the problem is the following: public class MyWebClient { private HttpWebRequest _request; private Uri _uri; private AsyncOperation _asyncOp; public MyWebClient(Uri uri) { _uri = uri; } public void Start(XElement data) { _asyncOp = AsyncOperationManager.CreateOperation(null); _data = data; _request = (HttpWebRequest)WebRequest.Create(_uri); _request.Method = "POST"; _request.BeginGetRequestStream(new AsyncCallback(BeginRequest), null); } private void BeginRequest(IAsyncResult result) { Stream stream = _request.EndGetRequestStream(result); using (StreamWriter writer = new StreamWriter(stream)) { writer.Write(((XElement)_data).ToString()); } stream.Close(); _request.BeginGetResponse(new AsyncCallback(BeginResponse), null); } private void BeginResponse(IAsyncResult result) { HttpWebResponse response = (HttpWebResponse)_request.EndGetResponse(result); if (response != null) { //process returned data ... } } ... } In short, the above code sends some XML data to web server (to ASP.NET MVC controller) and gets back a processed data. It works when I use Internet Explorer 8. Can someone please explain what is the problem with Google Chrome?

  • Need a Java based interruptible timer thread

    - by LambeauLeap
    I have a Main Program which is running a script on the target device(smart phone) and in a while loop waiting for stdout messages. However in this particular case, some of the heartbeat messages on the stdout could be spaced almost 45secs to a 1minute apart. something like: stream = device.runProgram(RESTORE_LOGS, new String[] {}); stream.flush(); String line = stream.readLine(); while (line.compareTo("") != 0) { reporter.commentOnJob(jobId, line); line = stream.readLine(); } So, I want to be a able to start a new interruptible thread after reading line from stdout with a required a sleep window. Upon being able to read a new line, I want to be able to interrupt/stop(having trouble killing the process), handle the newline of stdout text and restart a process. And it the event I am not able to read a line within the timer window(say 45secs) I want to a way to get out of my while loop either. I already tried the thread.run, thread.interrupt approach. But having trouble killing and starting a new thread. Is this the best way out or am I missing something obvious?

  • Reading and writing in parallel

    - by Malfist
    I want to be able to read and write a large file in parallel, or if not in parallel, at least in blocks so that I don't use up so much memory. This is my current code: // Define memory stream which will be used to hold encrypted data. MemoryStream memoryStream = new MemoryStream(); // Define cryptographic stream (always use Write mode for encryption). CryptoStream cryptoStream = new CryptoStream(memoryStream, encryptor, CryptoStreamMode.Write); //start encrypting using (BinaryReader reader = new BinaryReader(File.Open(fileIn, FileMode.Open))) { byte[] buffer = new byte[1024 * 1024]; int read = 0; do { read = reader.Read(buffer, 0, buffer.Length); cryptoStream.Write(buffer, 0, read); } while (read == buffer.Length); } // Finish encrypting. cryptoStream.FlushFinalBlock(); // Convert our encrypted data from a memory stream into a byte array. //byte[] cipherTextBytes = memoryStream.ToArray(); //write our memory stream to a file memoryStream.Position = 0; using (BinaryWriter writer = new BinaryWriter(File.Open(fileOut, FileMode.Create))) { byte[] buffer = new byte[1024 * 1024]; int read = 0; do { read = memoryStream.Read(buffer, 0, buffer.Length); writer.Write(buffer, 0, read); } while (read == buffer.Length); } // Close both streams. memoryStream.Close(); cryptoStream.Close(); As you can see, it reads the entire file into memory, encrypts it, then writes it out. If I happen to be encrypting files that are very large (2GB+) it tends not to work, or at the very least, consumes ~97% of my memory. How could I do it in a more effective manner?

  • Servlet File Upload Memory Consumption

    - by Scott
    Hi, I'm using a servlet to do a multi fileupload (using apache commons fileupload to help). A portion of my code is posted below. My problem is that if I upload several files at once, the memory consumption of the app server jumps rather drastically. This is probably OK if it were only until the file upload is finished, but the app server seems to hang on to the memory and never return it to the OS. I'm worried that when I put this into production I'll end up getting an out of memory exception on the server. Any ideas on why this is happening? I'm thinking the server may have started a session and will give the memory back after it expires, but I'm not 100% positive. if(ServletFileUpload.isMultipartContent(request)) { ServletFileUpload upload = new ServletFileUpload(); FileItemIterator iter = upload.getItemIterator(request); while(iter.hasNext()) { FileItemStream license = iter.next(); if(license.getFieldName().equals("upload_button") || license.getName().equals("")) continue; //DataInputStream stream = new DataInputStream(license.openStream()); InputStream stream = license.openStream(); ArrayList<Integer> byteArray = new ArrayList<Integer>(); int tempByte; do { tempByte = stream.read(); byteArray.add(tempByte); }while(tempByte != -1); stream.close(); byteArray.remove(byteArray.size()-1); byte[] bytes = new byte[byteArray.size()]; int i = 0; for(Integer tByte : byteArray) { bytes[i++] = tByte.byteValue(); } Thanks in advanced!!

  • Conversion of BizTalk Projects to Use the New WCF-SAP Adaptor

    - by Geordie
    We are in the process of upgrading our BizTalk Environment from BizTalk 2006 R2 to BizTalk 2010. The SAP adaptor in BizTalk 2010 is an all new and more powerful WCF-SAP adaptor. When my colleagues tested out the new adaptor they discovered that the format of the data extracted from SAP was not identical to the old adaptor. This is not a big deal if the structure of the messages from SAP is simple. In this case we were receiving the delivery and invoice iDocs. Both these structures are complex especially the delivery document. Over the past few years I have tweaked the delivery mapping to remove bugs from original mapping. The idea of redoing these maps did not appeal and due to the current work load was not even an option. I opted for a rather crude alternative of pulling in the iDoc in the new typed format and then adding a static map at the start of the orchestration to convert the data to the old schema.  Note WCF-SAP data formats (on the binding tab of the configuration dialog box is the ‘RecieiveIdocFormat’ field): Typed:  Returns a XML document with the hierarchy represented in XML and all fields being represented by XML tags. RFC: Returns an XML document with the hierarchy represented in XML but the iDoc lines in flat file format. String: This returns the iDoc in a format that is closest to the original flat file format but is still wrapped with some top level XML tags. The files also contained some strange characters at the end of each line. I started with the invoice document and it was quite straight forward to add the mapping but this is where my problems started. The orchestrations for these documents are dynamic and so require the identity of the partner to be able to correctly configure the orchestration. The partner identity is in the EDI_DC40 segment of the iDoc. In the old project the RECPRN node of the segment was promoted. The code to set a variable to the partner ID was now failing. After lot of head scratching I discovered the problem was due to the addition of Namespaces to the fields in the EDI_DC40 segment. To overcome this I needed to use an xPath query with a Namespace Manager. This had to be done in custom code. I now tried to repeat the process with the delivery document. Unfortunately when we tried to get sample typed data from SAP an exception was thrown. The adapter "WCF-SAP" raised an error message. Details "Microsoft.ServiceModel.Channels.Common.XmlReaderGenerationException: The segment or group definition E2EDKA1001 was not found in the IDoc metadata. The UniqueId of the IDoc type is: IDOCTYP/3/DESADV01/ZASNEXT1/640. For Receive operations, the SAP adapter does not support unreleased segments.   Our guess is that when the WCF-SAP adaptor tries to down load the data it retrieves a data schema from SAP. For some reason the schema does not match the data. This may be due to the version of SAP we are running or due to a customization. Either way resolving this problem did not look easy. When doing some research on this problem I found an article showing me how to get the data from SAP using the WCF-SAP adaptor without any XML tags. http://blogs.msdn.com/b/adapters/archive/2007/10/05/receiving-idocs-getting-the-raw-idoc-data.aspx Reproduction of Mustansir blog: Since the WCF based SAP Adapter is ... well, WCF based, all data flowing in and out of the adapter is encapsulated within a SOAP message. Which means there are those pesky xml tags all over the place. If you want to receive an Idoc from SAP, you can receive it in "Typed" format (in which case each column in each segment of the idoc appears within its own xml tag), or you can receive it in "String" format (in which case there are just 2 xml tags at the top, the raw xml data in string/flat file format, and the 2 closing xml tags). In "String" format, an incoming idoc (for ORDERS05, containing 5 data records) would look like: <ReceiveIdoc ><idocData>EDI_DC40 8000000000001064985620 E2EDK01005 800000000000106498500000100000001 E2EDK14 8000000000001064985000002000000020111000 E2EDK14 8000000000001064985000003000000020081000 E2EDK14 80000000000010649850000040000000200710 E2EDK14 80000000000010649850000050000000200600</idocData></ReceiveIdoc> (I have trimmed part of the control record so that it fits cleanly here on one line). Now, you're only interested in the IDOC data, and don't care much for the XML tags. It isn't that difficult to write your own pipeline component, or even some logic in the orchestration to remove the tags, right? Well, you don't need to write any extra code at all - the WCF Adapter can help you here! During the configuration of your one-way Receive Location using WCF-Custom, navigate to the Messages tab. Under the section "Inbound BizTalk Messge Body", select the "Path" radio button, and: (a) Enter the body path expression as: /*[local-name()='ReceiveIdoc']/*[local-name()='idocData'] (b) Choose "String" for the Node Encoding. What we've done is, used an XPATH to pull out the value of the "idocData" node from the XML. Your Receive Location will now emit text containing only the idoc data. You can at this point, for example, put the Flat File Pipeline component to convert the flat text into a different xml format based on some other schema you already have, and receive your version of the xml formatted message in your orchestration.   This was potentially a much easier solution than adding the static maps to the orchestrations and overcame the issue with ‘Typed’ delivery documents. Not quite so fast… Note: When I followed Mustansir’s blog the characters at the end of each line disappeared. After configuring the adaptor and passing the iDoc data into the original flat file receive pipelines I was receiving exceptions. There was a failure executing the receive pipeline: "PAPINETPipelines.DeliveryFlatFileReceive, CustomerIntegration2.PAPINET.Pipelines, Version=1.0.0.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=4ca3635fbf092bbb" Source: "Pipeline " Receive Port: "recSAP_Delivery" URI: "D:\CustomerIntegration2\SAP\Delivery\*.xml" Reason: An error occurred when parsing the incoming document: "Unexpected data found while looking for: 'Z2EDPZ7' The current definition being parsed is E2EDP07GRP. The stream offset where the error occured is 8859. The line number where the error occured is 23. The column where the error occured is 0.". Although the new flat file looked the same as the old one there was a differences. In the original file all lines in the document were exactly 1064 character long. In the new file all lines were truncated to the last alphanumeric character. The final piece of the puzzle was to add a custom pipeline component to pad all the lines to 1064 characters. This component was added to the decode node of the custom delivery and invoice flat file disassembler pipelines. Execute method of the custom pipeline component: public IBaseMessage Execute(IPipelineContext pc, IBaseMessage inmsg) { //Convert Stream to a string Stream s = null; IBaseMessagePart bodyPart = inmsg.BodyPart;   // NOTE inmsg.BodyPart.Data is implemented only as a setter in the http adapter API and a //getter and setter for the file adapter. Use GetOriginalDataStream to get data instead. if (bodyPart != null) s = bodyPart.GetOriginalDataStream();   string newMsg = string.Empty; string strLine; try { StreamReader sr = new StreamReader(s); strLine = sr.ReadLine(); while (strLine != null) { //Execute padding code if (strLine != null) strLine = strLine.PadRight(1064, ' ') + "\r\n"; newMsg += strLine; strLine = sr.ReadLine(); } sr.Close(); } catch (IOException ex) { throw new Exception("Error occured trying to pad the message to 1064 charactors"); }   //Convert back to stream and set to Data property inmsg.BodyPart.Data = new MemoryStream(Encoding.UTF8.GetBytes(newMsg)); ; //reset the position of the stream to zero inmsg.BodyPart.Data.Position = 0; return inmsg; }

  • Installing vim7.2 on Solaris Sparc 10 as non-root

    I'm trying to install vim to $HOME/bin by compiling the sources. ./configure --prefix=$home/bin seems to work, but when running make I get: > make Starting make in the src directory. Or is there another way to install vim as non-root? Thanks in advance EDIT: I took a look at the google groups link Sarah posted. The "Compiling Vim" page linked from there was for Linux, so the commands doesn't even work on Solars. But it did hint at logging the output of ./configure to a file, so I did that. Here it is: ./configure output removed. New version further down. Does anyone spot anything critical missing? EDIT 2: So I downloaded the vim package from sunfreeware. I couldn't just install it, since I don't have root privileges, but I was able to extract the package file. This was the file structure in it: `-- SMCvim `-- reloc |-- bin |-- doc | `-- vim `-- share |-- man | `-- man1 `-- vim `-- vim72 |-- autoload | `-- xml |-- colors |-- compiler |-- doc |-- ftplugin |-- indent |-- keymap |-- lang |-- macros | |-- hanoi | |-- life | |-- maze | `-- urm |-- plugin |-- print |-- spell |-- syntax |-- tools `-- tutor I moved the three files (vim, vimtutor, xdd) in SMCvim/reloc/bin to $HOME/bin, so now I can finally run $HOME/bin/vim! But where do I put the "share" directory and its content? EDIT 3: It might also be worth noting that there already exists an install of vim on the system, but it is broken. When I try to run it I get: ld.so.1: vim: fatal: libgtk-1.2.so.0: open failed: No such file or directory "which vim" outputs /opt/local/bin/vim EDIT 4: Trying to compile this on Solaris 10. uname -a SunOS ws005-22 5.10 Generic_141414-10 sun4u sparc SUNW,SPARC-Enterprise New ./configure output: ./configure --prefix=$home/bin ac_cv_sizeof_int=8 --enable-rubyinterp configure: loading cache auto/config.cache checking whether make sets $(MAKE)... yes checking for gcc... gcc checking for C compiler default output file name... a.out checking whether the C compiler works... yes checking whether we are cross compiling... no checking for suffix of executables... checking for suffix of object files... o checking whether we are using the GNU C compiler... yes checking whether gcc accepts -g... yes checking for gcc option to accept ISO C89... unsupported checking how to run the C preprocessor... gcc -E checking for grep that handles long lines and -e... /usr/sfw/bin/ggrep checking for egrep... /usr/sfw/bin/ggrep -E checking for library containing strerror... none required checking for gawk... gawk checking for strip... strip checking for ANSI C header files... yes checking for sys/wait.h that is POSIX.1 compatible... no configure: checking for buggy tools... checking for BeOS... no checking for QNX... no checking for Darwin (Mac OS X)... no checking --with-local-dir argument... • C# Persistent WebClient

    - by Nullstr1ng
    I have a class written in C# (Windows Forms) It's a WebClient class which I intent to use in some website and for Logging In and navigation. Here's the complete class pastebin.com (the class has 197 lines so I just use pastebin. Sorry if I made a little bit harder for you to read the class, also below this post) The problem is, am not sure why it's not persistent .. I was able to log in, but when I navigate to other page (without leaving the domain), I was thrown back to log in page. Can you help me solving this problem? one issue though is, the site I was trying to connect is "HTTPS" protocol. I have not yet tested this on just a regular HTTP. Thank you in advance. /* * Web Client v1.2 * --------------- * Date: 12/17/2010 * author: Jayson Ragasa */ using System; using System.Collections; using System.Collections.Specialized; using System.Collections.Generic; using System.Text; using System.IO; using System.Net; using System.Web; namespace Nullstring.Modules.WebClient { public class WebClientLibrary { #region vars string _method = string.Empty; ArrayList _params; CookieContainer cookieko; HttpWebRequest req = null; HttpWebResponse resp = null; Uri uri = null; #endregion #region properties public string Method { set { _method = value; } } #endregion #region constructor public WebClientLibrary() { _method = "GET"; _params = new ArrayList(); cookieko = new CookieContainer(); } #endregion #region methods public void ClearParameter() { _params.Clear(); } public void AddParameter(string key, string value) { _params.Add(string.Format("{0}={1}", WebTools.URLEncodeString(key), WebTools.URLEncodeString(value))); } public string GetResponse(string URL) { StringBuilder response = new StringBuilder(); #region create web request { uri = new Uri(URL); req = (HttpWebRequest)WebRequest.Create(URL); req.Method = "GET"; req.GetLifetimeService(); } #endregion #region get web response { resp = (HttpWebResponse)req.GetResponse(); Stream resStream = resp.GetResponseStream(); int bytesReceived = 0; string tempString = null; int count = 0; byte[] buf = new byte[8192]; do { count = resStream.Read(buf, 0, buf.Length); if (count != 0) { bytesReceived += count; tempString = Encoding.UTF8.GetString(buf, 0, count); response.Append(tempString); } } while (count > 0); } #endregion return response.ToString(); } public string GetResponse(string URL, bool HasParams) { StringBuilder response = new StringBuilder(); #region create web request { uri = new Uri(URL); req = (HttpWebRequest)WebRequest.Create(URL); req.MaximumAutomaticRedirections = 20; req.AllowAutoRedirect = true; req.Method = this._method; req.Accept = "text/html,application/xhtml+xml,application/xml;q=0.9,*/*;q=0.8"; req.KeepAlive = true; req.CookieContainer = this.cookieko; req.UserAgent = "Mozilla/5.0 (Macintosh; U; Intel Mac OS X 10_5_8; en-US) AppleWebKit/534.10 (KHTML, like Gecko) Chrome/8.0.552.224 Safari/534.10"; } #endregion #region build post data { if (HasParams) { if (this._method.ToUpper() == "POST") { string Parameters = String.Join("&", (String[])this._params.ToArray(typeof(string))); UTF8Encoding encoding = new UTF8Encoding(); byte[] loginDataBytes = encoding.GetBytes(Parameters); req.ContentType = "application/x-www-form-urlencoded"; req.ContentLength = loginDataBytes.Length; Stream stream = req.GetRequestStream(); stream.Write(loginDataBytes, 0, loginDataBytes.Length); stream.Close(); } } } #endregion #region get web response { resp = (HttpWebResponse)req.GetResponse(); Stream resStream = resp.GetResponseStream(); int bytesReceived = 0; string tempString = null; int count = 0; byte[] buf = new byte[8192]; do { count = resStream.Read(buf, 0, buf.Length); if (count != 0) { bytesReceived += count; tempString = Encoding.UTF8.GetString(buf, 0, count); response.Append(tempString); } } while (count > 0); } #endregion return response.ToString(); } #endregion } public class WebTools { public static string EncodeString(string str) { return HttpUtility.HtmlEncode(str); } public static string DecodeString(string str) { return HttpUtility.HtmlDecode(str); } public static string URLEncodeString(string str) { return HttpUtility.UrlEncode(str); } public static string URLDecodeString(string str) { return HttpUtility.UrlDecode(str); } } } UPDATE Dec 22GetResponse overload public string GetResponse(string URL) { StringBuilder response = new StringBuilder(); #region create web request { //uri = new Uri(URL); req = (HttpWebRequest)WebRequest.Create(URL); req.Method = "GET"; req.CookieContainer = this.cookieko; } #endregion #region get web response { resp = (HttpWebResponse)req.GetResponse(); Stream resStream = resp.GetResponseStream(); int bytesReceived = 0; string tempString = null; int count = 0; byte[] buf = new byte[8192]; do { count = resStream.Read(buf, 0, buf.Length); if (count != 0) { bytesReceived += count; tempString = Encoding.UTF8.GetString(buf, 0, count); response.Append(tempString); } } while (count 0); } #endregion return response.ToString(); } But still I got thrown back to login page.   • Working with Reporting Services Filters–Part 1

    - by smisner
    There are two ways that you can filter data in Reporting Services. The first way, which usually provides a faster performance, is to use query parameters to apply a filter using the WHERE clause in a SQL statement. In that case, the structure of the filter depends upon the syntax recognized by the source database. Another way to filter data in Reporting Services is to apply a filter to a dataset, data region, or a group. Using this latter method, you can even apply multiple filters. However, the use of filter operators or the setup of multiple filters is not always obvious, so in this series of posts, I'll provide some more information about the configuration of filters. First, why not use query parameters exclusively for filtering? Here are a few reasons: You might want to apply a filter to part of the report, but not all of the report. Your dataset might retrieve data from a stored procedure, and doesn't allow you to pass a query parameter for filtering purposes. Your report might be set up as a snapshot on the report server and, in that case, cannot be dynamically filtered based on a query parameter. Next, let's look at how to set up a report filter in general. The process is the same whether you are applying the filter to a dataset, data region, or a group. When you go to the Filters page in the Properties dialog box for whichever of these items you selected (dataset, data region, group), you click the Add button to create a new filter. The interface looks like this: The Expression field is usually a field in the dataset, so to make it easier for you to make a selection,the drop-down list displays all of the current dataset fields. But notice the expression button to the right, which means that you can set up any type of expression-not just a dataset field. To the right of the expression button, you'll find a data type drop-down list. It's important to specify the correct data type for the field or expression you're using. Now for the operators. Here's a list of the options that you have: This Operator Performs This Action =, <>, >, >=, <, <=, Like Compares expression to value Top N, Bottom N Compares expression to Top (Bottom) set of N values (N = integer) Top %, Bottom % Compares expression to Top (Bottom) N percent of values (N = integer or float) Between Determines whether expression is between two values, inclusive In Determines whether expression is found in list of values Last, the Value is what you're comparing to the expression using the operator. The construction of a filter using some operators (=, <>, >, etc.) is fairly simple. If my dataset (for AdventureWorks data) has a Category field, and I have a parameter that prompts the user for a single category, I can set up a filter like this: Expression Data Type Operator Value [Category] Text = [@Category] But if I set the parameter to accept multiple values, I need to change the operator from = to In, just as I would have to do if I were using a query parameter. The parameter expression, [@Category], which translates to =Parameters!Category.Value, doesn’t need to change because it represents an array as soon as I change the parameter to allow multiple values. The “In” operator requires an array. With that in mind, let’s consider a variation on Value. Let’s say that I have a parameter that prompts the user for a particular year – and for simplicity’s sake, this parameter only allows a single value, and I have an expression that evaluates the previous year based on the user’s selection. Then I want to use these two values in two separate filters with an OR condition. That is, I want to filter either by the year selected OR by the year that was computed. If I create two filters, one for each year (as shown below), then the report will only display results if BOTH filter conditions are met – which would never be true. Expression Data Type Operator Value [CalendarYear] Integer = [@Year] [CalendarYear] Integer = =Parameters!Year.Value-1 To handle this scenario, we need to create a single filter that uses the “In” operator, and then set up the Value expression as an array. To create an array, we use the Split function after creating a string that concatenates the two values (highlighted in yellow) as shown below. Expression Data Type Operator Value =Cstr(Fields!CalendarYear.Value) Text In =Split( CStr(Parameters!Year.Value) + ”,” + CStr(Parameters!Year.Value-1) , “,”) Note that in this case, I had to apply a string conversion on the year integer so that I could concatenate the parameter selection with the calculated year. Pay attention to the second argument of the Split function—you must use a comma delimiter for the result to work correctly with the In operator. I also had to change the Expression value from [CalendarYear] (or =Fields!CalendarYear.Value) so that the expression would return a string that I could compare with the values in the string array. More fun with filter expressions in future posts!
