  I have a weird problem with ExecuteQuery in that it isn't working when performing a parameterized query. • Escaping Code for Different Shells

  Question: What characters do I need to escape in a user-entered string to securely pass it into shells on Windows and Unix? What shell differences and version differences should be taken into account? Can I use printf "%q" somehow, and is that reliable across shells? Backstory (a.k.a. Shameless Self-Promotion): I made a little DSL, the Vision Web Template Language, which allows the user to create templates for X(HT)ML documents and fragments, then automatically fill them in with content. It's designed to separate template logic from dynamic content generation, in the same way that CSS is used to separate markup from presentation. In order to generate dynamic content, a Vision script must defer to a program written in a language that can handle the generation logic, such as Perl or Python. (Aside: using PHP is also possible, but Vision is intended to solve some of the very problems that PHP perpetuates.) In order to do this, the script makes use of the @system directive, which executes a shell command and expands to its output. (Platform-specific generation can be handled using @unix or @windows, which only expand on the proper platform.) However, the login view does not display the users name. i actually cant figure out how to pass the users name that i had picked from the database to the login name control to be displayed. taking a close look i also noticed the logout text that should be displayed after successful log in does not show. that leaves me wondering if the loggedin template control on the masterpage even fires at all or its still the anonymous template control that keeps displaying.? How do i get this to work as expected? Please help....

• Why won't jqGrid populate initially in Chrome

  Hi, I've got a web page with a jqGrid that uses am xmlreader to populate itself with data that is spat out by a RoR service. The page loads fine in firefox and safari. In Chrome however I get a blank grid. • PAM authentication problem

  I am using this module to authenticate using pam: http://code.google.com/p/web2py/source/browse/gluon/contrib/pam.py I can call authenticate('username','password') and it returns True/ False. It works for any 'username' but 'root'. My guess is that there is a security restriction in PAM that does not allow to check for the root password. I need to be able to check the root password. Is there anything I can change in the pam.conf or somewhere else to remove this restriction?

When i try to delete a user who has an vehicle a concurrent Acces Exception is thrown when do not uncomment the "this.owner.removeVehicle(this);" in the preRemove Function of the vehicle. The thing i do not understand is that before i used this inheritance there was only a User class which had all relations: @Entity @Table(name = "Users") public class User implements Serializable { @Id protected String username; @OneToMany(mappedBy = "owner", cascade = {CascadeType.PERSIST, CascadeType.REMOVE}) private List<Vehicle> vehicles; @OneToMany(cascade = CascadeType.ALL) @JoinTable(name = "USER_ADDRESS", joinColumns = @JoinColumn(name = "USERNAME") inverseJoinColumns = @JoinColumn(name = "ADDRESS_ID")) ptivate List<Address> addresses; ... No orphanremoval, and the vehicle class has used the uncommented statement above in its preRemove function. And - I could delte a user who has an address and i could delte a user who has a vehicle. So why doesn't everything work without changes when i use inheritance? I use JPA 2.0, EclipseLink 2.0.2, MySQL 5.1.x and Netbeans 6.8

I have the keys set up so that I can interactively SSH to the server without requiring a password, but when I try to run the "mvn deploy" or "mvn release:perform" commands, it hangs (at what I assume is the password prompt). My ~/.m2/settings.xml file contains the username for the server (because it is different than my local username) and references the id of the server that requires the different user.

• I need to auto_increment a field in MySQL that is not primary key

  Hey everyone, Right now, I have a table whose primary key is an auto_increment field. However, I need to set the primary key as username, date (to ensure that there cannot be a duplicate username with a date). I need the auto_increment field, however, in order to make changes to row information (adding and deleting). What is normally done with this situation? Thanks!

• Does UserId data type affect FormsAuthentication.SetAuthCookie(UserId.ToString(), false)?

  Does the original data type of the username string in a call to FormsAuthentication.SetAuthCookie(...) make any difference with regards to security or code maintainability? As I understand it, the cookie is encrypted and used to identify a user on each request. I'm curious whether it should affect the design of the primary key on my Users table in my database, eg. Guid vs int or a unique username string.
