    I'd like to have my Axis2 Web Service read from a configuration file, whose name is sent as a parameter to the service. Where is the best place to put this file? And How to best access it? Examples welcome. I've checked the current directory is the Apache/Tomcat/bin file, I could put it in the parent directory, or put it into a Apache/Tomcat/conf, although this looks like it's more reserved for apache configuration itself.

  • Metro apps crash on startup, driver or permissions issue?

    After installing Win8 x64 RC, Metro apps worked correctly, but desktop OpenGL apps were slow and unresponsive. I installed the latest Win8 nVidia drivers, and the OpenGL apps started working correctly. At the same time, because of annoying permission messages, I changed the C:\ drive and all its files ownerships to my user, and gave it full permission. I restarted my pc after installing the drivers, and now Metro apps only show the splash screen, then crash. I tried installing other versions of the nVidia drivers, with the same result. My GPU is a GeForce GTX275. Is this a known problem with nVidia drivers? Or maybe changing the ownership of C:\ is the real problem? Thank you. More information (after looking in the event viewer) I've managed to find the problem and the error in the Event Viewer. I still cannot solve it.     I want to stream data from my Laptop PC to my Android phone using TCP or UDP by creating sockets in both the phone and the laptop, but it has to be done wirelessly. How do I connect them to stream the data ? I thought creating an ad-hoc wireless network from my laptop and connecting to it using my Android would work. But my Android is not detecting the ad-hoc network. Is there any other way how I can connect the two ? I downloaded this software called 'connectify' and created a wifi hotspot on my laptop, and successfully connected the two. But will I be able to stream data to my device using this connection ? Can simple direct Bluetooth connection help me in creating sockets in both phone and laptop and stream the data ?

  • Why does partition tool GParted read the 190GB of data twice when shrink a 250GB partition to 190GB?

    When using GParted to shrink a 250GB partition to 190GB, I thought it will move the 60GB of data back into the 190GB region and call it done. But instead it reads the 190GB of data twice, the first time taking about 1 hour and the second time for 2 hours. The question is: 1) how come it touches the 190GB of data instead of the 60GB of data? 2) how come it reads it twice? Update: i am suspecting this: it says "moving /dev/sdb1 to the right and then shrink it to 190GB"... so is that the reason, first it is to shrink the partition to 190GB, and then move it to the right? So it is not moving to the right and then shrink it, but to shrink it first and move it. (cannot move first because the original 250GB is the whole hard drive). Also, why move it to the right?

    I'm redoing my firewall configuration with more restrictive policies and I would like to determine the provenance (and/or destination) of some outgoing connections. I have an issue because they come from svchost.exe and go to web content/application delivery providers - or similar: 5 IP in range: 82.96.58.0 - 82.96.58.255 --> Akamai Technologies akamaitechnologies.com 3 IP in range: 93.150.110.0 - 93.158.111.255 --> Akamai Technologies akamaitechnologies.com 2 IP in range: 87.248.194.0 - 87.248.223.255 --> LLNW Europe 2 llnw.net 205.234.175.175 --> CacheNetworks, Inc. cachefly.net 188.121.36.239 --> Go Daddy Netherlands B.V. secureserver.net So is it possible to know which service does a particular connection? Or what's your recommendation about the rules applied to these ones? (Comodo Firewall & Windows 7) Update: netstat -ano & tasklist /svc help me a little but they are many services in one svchost.exe so it's still an issue. moreover the service names returned by "tasklist /svc" are not easy readable. (All the connections are HTTP (port 80) but I don't think it's relevant)

  • UAC being turned off once a day on Windows 7

    I have strange problem on my HP laptop. This began to happen recently. Whenever I start my machine, Windows 7 Action Center displays the following warning: You need to restart your computer for UAC to be turned off. Actually, this does not happen if it happened once on a specific day. For example, when I start the machine in the morning, it shows up; but it never shows up in the subsequent restarts within that day. On the next day, the same thing happens again. I never disable UAC, but obviously some rootkit or virus causes this. As soon as I get this warning, I head for the UAC settings, and re-enable UAC to dismiss this warning. This is a bothersome situation as I can't fix it. First, I have run a full scan on the computer for any probable virus and malware/rootkit activity, but TrendMicro OfficeScan said that no viruses have been found. I went to an old Restore Point using Windows System Restore, but the problem was not solved. What I have tried so far (which couldn't find the rootkit): TrendMicro OfficeScan Antivirus AVAST Malwarebytes' Anti-malware Ad-Aware Vipre Antivirus GMER TDSSKiller (Kaspersky Labs) HiJackThis RegRuns UnHackMe SuperAntiSpyware Portable Tizer Rootkit Razor (*) Sophos Anti-Rootkit SpyHunter 4 There are no other strange activities on the machine. Everything works fine except this bizarre incident. What could be the name of this annoying rootkit? How can I detect and remove it? 8204 bytes As suggested in this very similar question, I have run full scans (+boot time scans) with RegRun and UnHackMe, but they also did not find anything. I have carefully examined all entries in the Event Viewer, but there's nothing wrong. Now I know that there is a hidden trojan (rootkit) on my machine which seems to disguise itself quite successfully. Note that I don't have the chance to remove the HDD, or reinstall the OS as this is a work machine subjected to certain IT policies on a company domain. Despite all my attempts, the problem still remains. I strictly need a to-the-point method or a pukka rootkit remover to remove whatever it is. I don't want to monkey with the system settings, i.e. disabling auto runs one by one, messing the registry, etc. EDIT 2: I have found an article which is closely related to my trouble: Malware can turn off UAC in Windows 7; “By design” says Microsoft.   • Return cell reference as result of if statement with vlookups.

    I have two sets of data in excel. One contains a set of data which represents the initial step of a process. The other set of data represents the additional steps which take place after the first step is completed. Each of the data records in the "additional step data" has an id in a column. I need to find the identifying codes of the "additional step data" which correspond with the initial step data records. The problem is that I have to match the data in 4 columns between the two data sets and return the id of the "additional step data". I started by doing a combination of an if and vlookup functions, but I got stuck when I tried to figure out how to get the if statement to reference the id of the matching "additional step data". Basically I am trying to avoid having to search by manually filtering between two sets of data and finding corresponding records. Does anyone have any idea about how to do this?

  • database on SSD: data only or the DBM program too?

    I plan on moving the data I use for statistical analysis (100-ish Gb) onto an SSD. The data is either sqlite single-file db's, or postgresql-managed data. The SSD is 240 Gb, 550 MB/s read and 520 MB/s write. Should I reserve that space for the data only, or would it be a good idea to install the operating system (Mac OS X) and the application directory (Adobe Suite, Microsoft Office and the like) on the SSD too? And would it make a substantial speed difference whether I also install the postgresql binaries on the SSD? I have plenty of other space (another 300Gb hard-drive, and a 1Tb one). Don't know the features of the non-SSD drives, though they're our standard equipment on all Macs, and they're definitely OK. Thanks.
