• C socket programming: calling recv() changes my socket file descriptor?

  Hey all, I have this strange problem with recv(). I'm programming client/server where client send() a message (a structure to be exact) and server recv() it. That is fine. But when i call recv(), i suddently becomes 0. Why is that? It doesn't make sense to me why recv() would take an socket file descriptor number and modify to another number. Is that normal? Am I missing something? • How do I use WMI with Delphi without drastically increasing the application's file size?

  I am using Delphi 2010, and when I created a console application that prints "Hello World", it takes 111 kb. If I want to query WMI with Delphi, I add WBEMScripting_TLB, ActiveX, and Variants units to my project. If I perform a simple WMI query, my executable size jumps to 810 kb. I Is there anyway to query WMI without such a large addition to the size of the file? Forgive my ignorance, but why do I not have this issue with C++?   Hello. I'm trying to use httplib's HTTPSConnection for client validation, using a PKCS #12 certificate. I know the certificate is good, as I can connect to the server using it in MSIE and Firefox. Here's my connect function (the certificate includes the private key). • 'template' .SWF that uses other .swf's and .jpg's in it (by xml generated in .php) works only locall

  My problem is that a .swf I would like to put on my website works only when requested locally. When requested from my home web server or company web server it doesn't work. I believe all files are in the proper folders and all links are well, otherwise it wouldn't work locally. Now, the SWF I place on the html page has several shapes, fonts, texts, buttons, scripts and frames. The scripts are in v1.0 and descrive how the SWF should behave. The SWF uses 2 different JPG's and 3 different SWF's. It also has a .php file with xml in it which tells the main SWF which JPG's and SWF's to use and where to find them. The main script in the main SWF also links to this .php file. So everything works properly when opening the SWF locally in IE like U:\common\templates\dynamic.swf Everythins shows perfectly. When requesting exactly the same file, but with a domain (as I can access the web server folder like a local drive) only the main .swf shows which is black with some test forms etc in it. PHP is enabled on the server. It's easier to change the php and put new files on the server than build a new flash file everytime etc and it's quite difficult to built some functionality in one swf when using other swf files. What could be the problem here that it works well when incurred locally but not from a server (using the domain etc) Any help is much appreciated. Thanks! EDIT: When I open the .swf in firefox by using the direct link to the .swf, the status bars hangs on 'Waiting for www.domain.com... (domain = mydomain) Maybe this is of any help?

• How do i convert hdb file? ... believed to be from act! source

  Any ideas ? I think the original source was a goldmine database, looking around it appears that the file was likely built using an application called ACT which I gather is a huge product I don't really want to be deploying for a one off file total size less than 5 meg. So ... Anyone know of a simple tool that I can run this file through to convert it to a standard CSV or something? It does appear to be (when looking at it in notepad and excel) in some sort of csv type format but it's like the data is encrypted somehow.

  Hi all I might be looking at this the wrong way, but I have a form that does its thing (sends emails etc etc) but I also put in some code to make a simple flatfile csv log with some of the user entered details. If a user accidentally puts in for instance 'himynameis","bob' this would either break the csv row (because the quotes weren't encapsulated) or if I use htmlspecialchars() and stripslashes() on the data, I end up with a ugly data value of 'himynameis&quot;,&quot;bob'.   Okay, I have decided the only way I can do what I want to do with WiX (thanks to an old installer I didn't write that I now have to upgrade) is with some CUSTOM ACTIONS. Basically, I need to back up a file before the RemoveExistingProducts and restore that file again after RemoveExistingProducts. I think this is what's called a "type 2 custom action." The sequencing I think I understand, however, what I don't understand is first of all how I pass data to my C# action (the directory the file is in from the WiX) and how to reference my C# (DTF?) action with the Binary and CustomAction tags. Also, does all this need to be in a tag? All the examples show it that way. I need to access from a WPF application to the Description properties (Title, Subject, Rating, Tag and Comment). In particular Tag. I have found a lot of articles, many are very old. A few in WPF and Imaging library. But no one access to that properties. So the question marks: are these properties on image? On file system?   I'm developing a C# .Net Application that is executing on a system located in the Central Time Zone. The application gets information from a third party using an API they provide. I have used the WSDL to produce the code that my application access the API with...their reporting API allows you to define a start date and end date for the report. These are C# DateTime fields and XSD:dateTime. Now when I set the start date and end dates and allow the API to create the SOAP messages the dates don't always include a Time Zone unless I set the date fields using the ToLocalTime method; however, the method will create the DateTime fields in the Central Time Zone (CST) but I need to have it create these fields in the Pacific Time Zone (PST). If I set my machine time to PST all is good...but of course that causes other time issues. What methods can I use to control the formatting of the DateTime? Alternatively, is there a application setting that can be set in C# that allows timezone control?

• Apache loads any file that begins with the same string as used in url. How to prevent this?

  If I point to: mywebsite.com/search and there is a file called search.php or search.html or search.inc.php or search.whatthehell.php in website's directory, Apache will point to that file instead of 404'ing. What is even more annoying is that if I point to: mywebsite.com/search/string?also=whatever Apache will still display any file with filename that begins with "search.". Also, all RewriteRules with patterns containing filenames existing in directory are ignored/useless. I'm using Apache 2 on Mac, unmodified httpd.conf. How do I prevent it from redirecting my urls so freely?
