  • Can Grails exceptionHandler support the following Error Handling Flow

    In my rails app that I am porting to grails whenever an unexpected error occurs I intercept the error automatically and display a form to the user informing them that an error has occured and asking them for further information. Meanwhile, as the form is rendered I write the stack trace and other information about who was logged in to a database table. Then if the form is submitted I add that information to the error report. I cannot tell from the exceptionHandler documentation and BootStrap examples whether that will allow me to grab all the information including various session and request parameters and then stuff them into a database and then post a form. Any thoughts?

  • Warning vs. error

    I had an annoying issue, getting a "Possible loss of precision" error when compiling my Java program on BlueJ (But from what i read this isn't connected to a specific IDE). I was surprised by the fact that the compiler told me there is a possible loss of precision and wouldnt let me compile/run the program. Why is this an error and not a warning saying you might loose precision here, if you don't want that change your code? The program runs just fine when i drop the float values, it wouldn't matter since there is no point (e.g [143.08, 475.015]) on my screen. On the other hand when i loop through an ArrayList and in this loop i have an if clause removing elements from the ArrayList it runs fine, just throws an error and doesn't display the ArrayList [used for drawing circles] for a fraction of a second. This appears to me as a severe error but doesn't cause (hardly) any troubles, while i wouldn't want to have such a thing in my code at all. What's the boundary?

    I've a small project that I want to share with a few others on a machine that we all have access to. I created a bare copy of the local repo with git clone --bare --no-hardlinks path/to/.git/ repoToShare.git I then moved repoToShare.git to the server. I can check it out with the following: git clone ssh://user@address/opt/gitroot/repoToShare.git/ test I can then see everything in the local repo and make commits against that. When I try to push changes back to the remote server I get the following error. *** Project description file hasn't been set error: hooks/update exited with error code 1 error: hook declined to update refs/heads/master Any ideas?

  • Cannot redeclare config() error in cakePHP

    Hi, I am getting the error Fatal error: Cannot redeclare config() (previously declared in.../basics.php:58, in live server. It works fine in my local server but when i uploaded the site to live server, i got the fatal error. I checked if the config() was declared multiple times but it's only declared once in basics.php file. The naming conventions are also followed, as it is working fine in local server. It only displays such error in live site. Please suggest solution for this. Help on this will be much appreciated.

    While running my program I get this Error: terminate called after throwing an instance of 'std::length_error' what(): basic_string::_S_create Abort trap I know that you can't do much without the code but I think that error is to deep in the code to copy all of it. Maybe I can figure it out if I understand what this error means. Is this a sign for an issue with reading or writing at the wrong memory address? Is there something I can do to get more information about the problem from my program?

    In your opinion, is it ever valid to use the @ operator to suppress an error/warning in PHP whereas you may be handling the error? If so, in what circumstances would you use this? Code examples are welcome. Edit: Note to repliers. I'm not looking to turn error reporting off, but, for example, common practice is to use @fopen($file); and then check afterwards... but you can get rid of the @ by doing if (file_exists($file)) { fopen($file); } else { die('File not found'); } or similar. I guess the question is - is there anywhere that @ HAS to be used to supress an error, that CANNOT be handled in any other manner?

  • Windows Service Start-Up Error 1069

    Hello, I am installing a new windows service coded in C# on a server. I installed the service fine on the server, but once i manually start up the service on a server, with the same login credentials that our other services use, i get the fatal error message notification: "Could not start the %service name% on Local Computer. Error 1069: The Service did not start due to a logon failure." I looked in the event log and i got a 7038 and 7000 event id error in that order. 7038 event id message: "The %service name% service was unable to log on as %login% with the currently configured password due to the following error: Logon failure: unknown user name or bad password. To ensure that the service is configured properly, use the Services snap-in in Microsoft Management Console (MMC)." 7000 event id message: "The %service name% service failed to start due to the following error: The service did not start due to a logon failure. " I have other services that are using the same exact login account and they work fine. Is there something simple I could be missing? Thanks

  • Not able to access external Hard disk

    I have a 1TB External Hard drive which I'm currently not able to access. When I open the External drive in Finder, It shows it's empty. When I use the option to "Get Info", I get the dialog box stating it has about 300GB Free. Tried to get into the External Drive using Terminal, I had no luck. Checking in Disk Utility, It showed that I have many number of files but ZERO folder. I tried to "repair disk", in the process the external Drive got unmounted in between the process. I checked this drive on Windows. I was able to open almost all the folders but I wasn't able to copy anything onto the external drive. One folder caused my windows computer to hang, So i connected the drive back onto my MacBook Pro and tried to access the drive through terminal (this time it worked!) and then I tried to delete the folder with rm command, I got an "input/output error" What should i do to recover the files in that folder? How can i access my external drive on my mac

  • How can I remove all drivers and other files related to a USB Mass Storage device?

    I have a flash drive here that does not work on one OS on computer - let's call it the desktop Windows 7. It works fine on another computer - laptop Windows 7. It also works fine on Windows 8 on the same desktop computer. Other flash drives work fine under desktop Windows 7. So not a hardware issue, not a generic USB Mass Storage driver issue. It's something specific to this drive. On desktop Windows 7, I can connect the drive but no volume comes up under Windows Explorer. Ditto for Disk Management. With diskpart, loading hangs until I unplug the drive, if I replug it and try list disk it hangs again. If I unplug the drive at this point, list disk prints out all attached drives - including the just removed flash drive. The drive consistently appears under Device Manager, but uninstalling the drivers, restarting and reinstalling the drivers (by inserting the drive) only works for the first insertion. After that it fails again. I get the feeling that the driver files are not actually removed, and are corrupted, meaning every reinstall it's the same corrupted drivers being installed. Is there any way to remove these drivers completely? Or perhaps some other setting Windows 7 retains? Formatting the drive through another computer/OS does not help. I've also tried a complete wipe and rebuild of the MBR and single partition. The allocation unit size makes no difference; neither does a NTFS format. This is a relatively small matter, and I would not like to reinstall the entire OS!

  • How can I change the file name of the Program Files (x86) folder?

    Let me stop you before the "you shouldn't do that" and "you will corrupt your file paths". I know what I'm doing, but I'll give you the story to convince you. Basically, my hard drive is failing to the point where programs installed on it are not responding consistently. So, in preparation for my replacement, I'm moving as many files as possible to my secondary because the new drive will be smaller (it's an emergency I can't buy a fancy expensive new drive) and so I can actually use my computer until the new drive comes in. The basic idea behind what I'm doing is I've copied the contents of the Program Files x86 folder to another spot on my other drive, and I want to replace the original folder in the C drive with a symbolic link that points to the other drive, so the programs can run from that drive and be fine but it will save space on my C drive and simplify the moving process when the new one comes in. To do that, I need to rename the program files folder, make the symbolic link, hopefully delete the program files folder, then restart my computer so all the programs are running properly and I can confirm it works. Now that I've told you why, can anyone help me out?

However, these applications are typically expensive or unreliable.  Plus, if you have a laptop or lack a secondary computer to put the hard drive into – how on earth do you wipe it quickly and easily while still conforming to a 7 pass rule (this means that every possible bit on the hard drive is set to 0 and then to 1 seven times in a row)?  Yes, one pass should be enough – as turning every bit from a 1 to a zero will wipe the data from existence.  But, we’re dealing with tinfoil hat wearing types here people.  DOD standards dictate at least 3 passes, and typically 7 is the preferred amount.  I’m not going to argue about data recovery.  I have been told to use 7 passes, and so I will.  So say we all! Quite some time ago I used to make a BartPE XP-based boot cd for the original purpose of securely wiping data.  I loved BartPE and integrated so many plugins into my builds that I could do pretty much anything directly from CD.  Reset passwords, uninstall security updates, wipe drives, chkdsk, remove spyware, install Windows, etc.  However, with the newer multi-core systems and new chipsets coming out from vendors, I found that BartPE was rather difficult to keep up to date.  I have since switched to WinPE 3.0 (Windows Preinstallation Environment). http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/cc748933(WS.10).aspx  It is fairly simple to create your own CD, and I have made a few helpful scripts to easily integrate drivers and rebuild the ISO file for you.  I’ll cover making your own boot CD utilizing WinPE 3.0 in a later post – I can talk about WinPE forever and need to collect my thoughts!!  My wife loves talking about WinPE almost as much as talking about Doctor Who.  Wait, did I say loves?  Hmmmm, I may have meant loathes. The topic at hand?  Right. Wiping a drive! I must have drunk too much coffee this morning.  I like to use a simple batch script that calls a combination of diskpart.exe from Microsoft® and Sdelete.exe created by our friend Mark Russinovich. http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/sysinternals/bb897443.aspx All of the following files are located within the same directory on my WinPE boot CD. Here are the contents of wipe_me.bat, script.txt and sdelete.reg. Wipe_me.bat:   @echo off echo. echo     I will completely wipe the local hard drives using echo     7 individual wipes. The data will NOT echo     be recoverable.  I will begin after you pause echo. echo Preparing to partition and format disk. Diskpart.exe /s "script.txt" REM I was annoyed by not having a completely automated script – and Sdelete wants you to accept the license agreement. So, I added a registry file to skip doing that. regedit /S sdelete.reg rem sdelete options selected are: -p (passes) -c (zero free space) -s (recurse through subdirectories, if any) -z (clean free space) [drive letter] sdelete.exe -p 7 -c -s -z c: echo. echo Pass seven complete. echo. echo Wiping complete.   • RHEL 5.5 Yum Update Fails Dependency Error

    I have 30 different RHEL 5.5 machines that will not update some 33 packages via Yum. Does anyone know why these packages will not install and how to correct this? Yum clean all does not fix the issue, however skip broken will allow other updates to install but I am really after a way to clear this up for good. They are stock boxes with RHEL subscription and not using any yum repositories other than Red Hat's own official repositories.   • HFS+ hard drive being mounted as read only

    This is a recurring problem and occurs a few times a week. I have an external hard drive which is hfs+. Every couple of weeks, for no obviuous reason, when I mount it by pluggin it in to my Ubuntu 11.10, it is read only and I can't copy any files into it. I gksudo nautlius and change the ownership and it magically works in some time. But returns to the read only state soon in a few hours-days without any rhyme or reason. Right now my fstab doesn't have any entry for my hard drive. What gives? What in the world is going on with Linux/HFS+? This is frustrating. I can't reformat my hard drive because I have almost a terrabyte of data in it and no receptacle to hold it while I reformat it.
