  • How to install MySQL on Windows 7

    Please help me how to install MySQL on Windows 7. When I tried to install, I am getting errors as: The security settings could not be applied to the database because the connection has failed of the following errors ERROR NR:1045 Access denied for user 'root@'localhost(using password yes). I tried to uninstall MySQL completely and install again, but it shows this error again and again. I have changed my firewall setting also and tried unstalling antivirus sotware too. But it also did not work.

  • Excel 2007 pivot table does not aggregate properly

    I am using a an excel pivot table to summarize some data and just found a problem. The problem deals with how aggregate values are calculated. Let's say I have a table of data with three columns: Name, Date, Value. If I create a table where Name and then Date are used as Row Labels and Value is the aggregate value, ie Average. The pivot table will look something like this: +John .3450 5/14/2010 1.234 5/15/2010 3.450 5/16/2010 -3.25 What I think should be happening here is that the values for each date are averaged and then those values are averaged to come up with the value in the same row as the Name, John. But that is not what it does. It takes the average for each date, which it shows across from the date, but then instead of taking the average of those numbers, it actually uses the raw data and computes the average for all of John's values. It should show the average of the daily averages to correspond with the tree hierarchy, but instead just shows me the average for all of John's values. It essential will only aggregate at one level, but visually creates sub levels that it is not using. Does anyone know how to change this or understand by what logic this makes sense? Why would I create any sub groupings if I cannot compute aggregates on them?

  • master-slave-slave replication: master will become bottleneck for writes

    hi, the mysql database has arround 2TB of data. i have a master-slave-slave replication running. the application that uses the database does read (SELECT) queries just on one of the 2 slaves and write (DELETE/INSERT/UPDATE) queries on the master. the application does way more reads, than writes. if we have a problem with the read (SELECT) queries, we can just add another slave database and tell the application, that there is another salve. so it scales well... Currently, the master is running arround 40% disk io due to the writes. So i'm thinking about how to scale the the database in the future. Because one day the master will be overloaded. What could be a solution there? maybe mysql cluster? if so, are there any pitfalls or limitations in switching the database to ndb? thanks a lot in advance... :)

There was a microsecond patch to allow mysql to be configured to log queries that take longer than X microseconds to run. But is there a way to have the log output the query time in either milliseconds or microseconds?

However when i enter my PHPMYADMIN on my server it has the following specs: Server: Localhost via UNIX socket Program: MySQL Programversion: 5.1.73 - Source distribution So which version is the correct one and how do i make sure that the database is running on 5.5? Note I have already restarted sql several times without any changes

  • Pivot table not refreshing sort order

    I have Pivot Table that get its data source from another sheet, same workbook. I want the sort order of data is same as the data source order, I choose "Sort in data source order" in Pivot Table option. The problem is, when I change the data order on data source worksheet, then I refresh the Pivot Table, the sort order didn't change. I googled that the Pivot Table should be unlink first then re-link again in order to work properly, so I tried the following: The original data source has named range: origdata. The fake data source has names range: dummydata I changed manually data source to dummydata then changed back to origdata. The sort order did change as expected. Now I want to make the operation automated, so I'm using this code in Worksheet.activate event. Note that, PT is PivotTable instance. ... PT.SourceData = "dummydata" PT.RefreshTable PT.SourceData = "origdata" PT.RefreshTable ... Change data source from VBA didn't change the sort order just like I did with manual method. Why is that? Am I missing something? Maybe there are some routine called when I changed the data source manually via toolbar button? Thanks in advance for your help.

    Does mysql replication supports delayed sync if remote slave server is OFF? For example I want to make my developing server have a fresh copy of databases each morning. It should be partial sync, not full copy of databases each morning. And synchronization should be only ONE way, not duplex, to avoid deleting something of master server.     I have been using the tuning-primer.sh script to tune my my.cnf settings. I have most things working well but the part about TABLE CACHE makes no sense: TABLE CACHE Current table_cache value = 900 tables. You have a total of 0 tables You have 900 open tables. Current table_cache hit rate is 1% , while 100% of your table cache is in use. You should probably increase your table_cache When I do SHOW STATUS; I get the following table-related numbers: Open_tables = 900 Opened_tables = 0 It seems like something is going wrong. I have some extra memory I could use on increasing the table_cache size, but my sense is that the 900 tables already available aren't doing anything, and increasing it will just waste more energy. Why might this be happening? Are there other settings that could cause all my table_cache slots to be used even though there are no hits to them? I have 150 max connections and probably no more than 4 tables per join, FWIW. Here is the tuner script output for temp tables, which I've also been tuning: TEMP TABLES Current max_heap_table_size = 90 M Current tmp_table_size = 90 M Of 11032358 temp tables, 40% were created on disk Perhaps you should increase your tmp_table_size and/or max_heap_table_size to reduce the number of disk-based temporary tables. Note! BLOB and TEXT columns are not allow in memory tables. If you are using these columns raising these values might not impact your ratio of on disk temp tables.

I'm gathering as much information about the install as I can (original people who installed it are, of course, not a resource). How can I find The default/current location of the MySQL binary files (often stored in a directory named data?) Any default or custom loaded cnf files? Looking for solutions that are a bit more sophisticated than a find / -iname '*.cnf' :)

Previously I used a google form to manage member registration, but now as the number of users becomes quite big I am switching to mysql.
