  • Forefront TMG: Can you monitor realtime TCP connections and bandwidth on a per-user basis?

    - by user65235
I'm just starting a trial of ForeFront TMG to use as a proxy server. I know I can get a real time activity monitor and filter on a per user basis, but would like to be able to get a real time activity monitor of all users that I can then sort by bandwidth consumed (enabling me to get a view on who the bandwidth hogs are). Does anyone know if this is possible in Forefront TMG or if a third party product is required? Thanks. JR

  • Forcing WCF proxy to generate an alias prefix

    - by Sean Campbell
To comply with a clients schema, I've been attempting to generate a WCF client proxy capable of serializing down to a structure with a root node that looks like the following: <quote:request xmlns:xsi="http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema-instance" xmlns:xsd="http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema" xmlns:quote="https://foo.com/services/schema/1.2/car_quote"> After some reading, I've had luck in updating the proxy to include the required 'quote' namespace through the use of XmlNameSpaceDeclarations and XmlSerializerNamespaces [System.SerializableAttribute()] [System.ComponentModel.DesignerCategoryAttribute("code")] public partial class request { [XmlNamespaceDeclarations()] public XmlSerializerNamespaces xmlsn { get { XmlSerializerNamespaces xsn = new XmlSerializerNamespaces(); xsn.Add("quote", "https://foo.com/services/schema/1.2/car_quote"); return xsn; } set { //Just provide an empty setter. } } ... which delivers: <request xmlns:xsi="http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema-instance" xmlns:xsd="http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema" xmlns:quote="https://foo.com/services/schema/1.2/car_quote"> however I'm stumped as to how to generate the quote:request element. Environment: ASP.NET 3.5 Thanks

  • How to call PHP proxy script from JQuery

    - by recipriversexclusion
I'm trying to get cross-domain Ajax to work. I downloaded a PHP proxy script from the Yahoo Developer site, ran it from command line and verified that it receives the XML from the server with a GET request. Now, I'm trying to connect to the PHP script within JS with no results. I have the following: <script type="text/javascript" src="jquery-1.4.2.js"></script> <script type="text/javascript"> $.ajax({ type:"GET", url:"proxy.php", dataType:"html", success:function(msg){ alert(msg); } }); </script> What this does, though, is to output the source of the PHP script in the alert box, not the XML! Where am I going wrong?

  • Why does squid reject this multipart-form-data POST from curl?

    - by keturn
This fails: $ curl --trace multipart-fail.log -F "source={}" http://127.0.0.1:3003/jslint With a squid status 417 error, ERR_INVALID_REQ. trace of failing curl request trace of successful curl request that uses urlencoding (curl -d) instead of multipart (curl -F) formatted version of squid's error message I've never had this in practice through a web browser, so it's probably curl usage instead of squid, but if I tell curl not to use the squid proxy, the web application on the other end accepts it just fine. (If there's a more appropriate StackExchange site for this, please let me know.)

  • FTP Load Balancer on EC2

    - by inakiabt
I need an EC2 instance to balance all incoming FTP connections to a list of FTP servers (EC2 instances too). This list will be changed dynamically due to the load of the FTP servers (launch a new FTP server when the FTP servers are overloaded or shutdown a FTP server when the load is low). What you recommend? a FTP proxy? DNS server? Load balancer? Note: The FTP servers must support Passive Mode

  • Inject WCF proxy with credentials using StructureMap

    - by Steve Horn
I have a service proxy generated by svcutil which generated an interface(IStudentContract) and a concrete type implementing (StudentContractClient). I'd like to have instances of StudentContractClient injected into my classes via StructureMap. My proxy also needs to have credentials supplied as seen in this passing unit test: <Test()> _ Public Sub Then_the_web_service_call_should_not_throw_an_exception() Dim studentServiceProxy As New StudentContractClient Dim credential As New NetworkCredential credential.Domain = ConfigurationManager.AppSettings("something") credential.UserName = ConfigurationManager.AppSettings("something") credential.Password = ConfigurationManager.AppSettings("something") studentServiceProxy.ClientCredentials.Windows.ClientCredential = credential Dim result = studentServiceProxy.GetCurrentTeachersByStudentSepid(26899) result.Count.ShouldEqual(4) End Sub My question is what would the structuremap configuration look like to have instances of IStudentContract injected with the credentials supplied? Thanks for any help!

  • Squid vs mod_proxy (apache)

    - by Fahim Akhter
Hi, New to servers, been hovering on http://highscalability.com/ for some days. Most of the architectures there show that people are using squid for proxy. Apache also provided mod_proxy which to a noob eye seems pretty much the same. Is there a perticular reason to opt for squid instead of mod_proxy? Thanks

  • Monitoring VPN users on my network

    - by Fen0x
My company runs filters on contents available for browsing and I have to check if everyone is respecting the browsing policies. Recently I have spotted some users activate OpenVPN on their workstations and i have discovered that they connect on port 443 of an external server and then use a proxy to circumvent the company filters. Is there any method to monitor VPN connections on allowed ports or to avoid the connections?

  • Proxied access for chinese users?

    - by Eaton
I'm working on a web app that will have a large-ish chunk of users in China. The bad news is that most of them are university students, and access has been blocked. Setting up a proxy server inside China seems like the best (potential?) solution, but it's the first time I'll have done anything along those lines. Are there any pitfalls or issues that I should be aware of before I start down this path?

  • Using the internet connection of a Remote Desktop

    - by hattenn
I want to use the internet connection of the servers at my university. I have a remote desktop account, and I have tried setting up VPN, but all VPN or proxy server software I could think of was blocked. Windows' built in VPN is blocked too. When I go to "Change Adapter Settings" and click on "File-New Incoming Connection", it says "Access denied." What would your suggestion be to use the internet connection of the remote desktop?

  • Do proxies really provide anonimity?

    - by user36269
Do web proxies really provide anonimity? I mean, without someone asking for logs in a web proxy server for who/when connected, is it impossible to know who was behind that ip? I'm asking this because I heard somewhere that some technologies (like "flash") bypass personal ip information for requests or something like that. (I'm a noob in server configuration and concepts like DNS and proxies. Thanks!)

  • How to suppress a MongoDDException when proxy can't find a referenced document

    - by Madarco
We are using Symfony2/DoctrineOdm/MongoDB and when we do: if ($doc.referenceOne != null) { ... } and the $doc.referenceOne contains a MongoDbRef that point to a deleted/lost document, the Doctrine Proxy object raises a MongoDBException. It is possible to tell the Proxy return null instead of raising the exception? Detailed Explanation: Our document: class User { /* @MongoDB\ReferenceOne( ... ) */ private $photo; } If $photo contains a MongoDbRef, but the document is lost/deleted, when we do if ($user.photo) { ... } doctrine will raise a MongoDBException: The "Proxies\DocumentPhotoProxy" document with identifier "4fd8b3ef732bafab7b000000" could not be found We want to suppress the exception since our application can handle null values in that variable. (we could simply log that error, while the exception propagate to a 500 page and disrupt our service)

  • How to improve Varnish performance?

    - by Darkseal
    We're experiencing a strange problem with our current Varnish configuration. 4x Web Servers (IIS 6.5 on Windows 2003 Server, each installed on a Intel(R) Xeon(R) CPU E5450 @ 3.00GHz Quad Core, 4GB RAM) 3x Varnish Servers (varnish-3.0.3 revision 9e6a70f on Ubuntu 12.04.2 LTS - 64 bit/precise, Kernel Linux 3.2.0-29-generic, each installed on a Intel(R) Xeon(R) CPU E5450 @ 3.00GHz Quad Core, 4GB RAM) The Varnish Servers performance are awfully bad in general, to the point that if we shut down one of them the other two are unable to fullfill all the requests and start to skip beats resulting in pending requests, timeouts, 404, etc. What can we do to improve our Varnish performance? Considering that we're getting less than 5k request per seconds during our max peak, we should be able to serve our pages even with a single one of them without any problem. We use a standard, vanilla CFG, as shown by this varnishadm param.show output: acceptor_sleep_decay 0.900000 [] acceptor_sleep_incr 0.001000 [s] acceptor_sleep_max 0.050000 [s] auto_restart on [bool] ban_dups on [bool] ban_lurker_sleep 0.010000 [s] between_bytes_timeout 60.000000 [s] cc_command "exec gcc -std=gnu99 -g -O2 -pthread -fpic -shared - Wl,-x -o %o %s" cli_buffer 8192 [bytes] cli_timeout 20 [seconds] clock_skew 10 [s] connect_timeout 0.700000 [s] critbit_cooloff 180.000000 [s] default_grace 10.000000 [seconds] default_keep 0.000000 [seconds] default_ttl 120.000000 [seconds] diag_bitmap 0x0 [bitmap] esi_syntax 0 [bitmap] expiry_sleep 1.000000 [seconds] fetch_chunksize 128 [kilobytes] fetch_maxchunksize 262144 [kilobytes] first_byte_timeout 60.000000 [s] group varnish (113) gzip_level 6 [] gzip_memlevel 8 [] gzip_stack_buffer 32768 [Bytes] gzip_tmp_space 0 [] gzip_window 15 [] http_gzip_support off [bool] http_max_hdr 64 [header lines] http_range_support on [bool] http_req_hdr_len 8192 [bytes] http_req_size 32768 [bytes] http_resp_hdr_len 8192 [bytes] http_resp_size 32768 [bytes] idle_send_timeout 60 [seconds] listen_address :80 listen_depth 1024 [connections] log_hashstring on [bool] log_local_address off [bool] lru_interval 2 [seconds] max_esi_depth 5 [levels] max_restarts 4 [restarts] nuke_limit 50 [allocations] pcre_match_limit 10000 [] pcre_match_limit_recursion 10000 [] ping_interval 3 [seconds] pipe_timeout 60 [seconds] prefer_ipv6 off [bool] queue_max 100 [%] rush_exponent 3 [requests per request] saintmode_threshold 10 [objects] send_timeout 600 [seconds] sess_timeout 5 [seconds] sess_workspace 16384 [bytes] session_linger 50 [ms] session_max 100000 [sessions] shm_reclen 255 [bytes] shm_workspace 8192 [bytes] shortlived 10.000000 [s] syslog_cli_traffic on [bool] thread_pool_add_delay 2 [milliseconds] thread_pool_add_threshold 2 [requests] thread_pool_fail_delay 200 [milliseconds] thread_pool_max 2000 [threads] thread_pool_min 5 [threads] thread_pool_purge_delay 1000 [milliseconds] thread_pool_stack unlimited [bytes] thread_pool_timeout 300 [seconds] thread_pool_workspace 65536 [bytes] thread_pools 2 [pools] thread_stats_rate 10 [requests] user varnish (106) vcc_err_unref on [bool] vcl_dir /etc/varnish vcl_trace off [bool] vmod_dir /usr/lib/varnish/vmods waiter default (epoll, poll) This is our default.vcl file: LINK sub vcl_recv { # BASIC recv COMMANDS: # # lookup -> search the item in the cache # pass -> always serve a fresh item (no-caching) # pipe -> like pass but ensures a direct-connection with the backend (no-cache AND no-proxy) # Allow the backend to serve up stale content if it is responding slow. # This defines when Varnish should use a stale object if it has one in the cache. set req.grace = 30s; if (client.ip == "127.0.0.1") { # request from NGINX - do not alter X-Forwarded-For set req.http.HTTPS = "on"; } else { # Add an X-Forwarded-For to keep track of original request unset req.http.HTTPS; unset req.http.X-Forwarded-For; set req.http.X-Forwarded-For = client.ip; } set req.backend = www_director; # Strip all cookies to force an anonymous request when the back-end servers are down. if (!req.backend.healthy) { unset req.http.Cookie; } ## HHTP Accept-Encoding if (req.http.Accept-Encoding) { if (req.http.Accept-Encoding ~ "gzip") { set req.http.Accept-Encoding = "gzip"; } else if (req.http.Accept-Encoding ~ "deflate") { set req.http.Accept-Encoding = "deflate"; } else { unset req.http.Accept-Encoding; } } if (req.request != "GET" && req.request != "HEAD" && req.request != "PUT" && req.request != "POST" && req.request != "TRACE" && req.request != "OPTIONS" && req.request != "DELETE") { /* non-RFC2616 or CONNECT */ return (pipe); } if (req.request != "GET" && req.request != "HEAD") { /* only deal with GET and HEAD by default */ return (pass); } if (req.http.Authorization) { return (pass); } if (req.http.HTTPS ~ "on") { return (pass); } ###################################################### # COOKIE HANDLING ###################################################### # METHOD 1: do not remove cookies, but pass the page if they contain TB_NC if (!(req.url ~ "(?i)\.(png|gif|ipeg|jpg|ico|swf|css|js)(\?[a-z0-9]+)?$")) { if (req.http.Cookie && req.http.Cookie ~ "TB_NC") { return (pass); } } return (lookup); } # Code determining what to do when serving items from the IIS Server sub vcl_fetch { unset beresp.http.Server; set beresp.http.Server = "Server-1"; # Allow items to be stale if needed.   • How do you apply proxy settings per computer instead of per user?

    - by Oliver Salzburg
So far, I've used a user group policy object utilizing Internet Explorer maintenance to set a proxy for the user in IE. We have now deployed the Enterprise Client (EC) starter group policy to our domain and this policy affects this behavior. The EC group policy uses the policy Make proxy settings per-machine (rather than per-user). This policy describes itself as: This policy is intended to ensure that proxy settings apply uniformly to the same computer and do not vary from user to user. Great! This seems to be an improvement over my previous setup. If you enable this policy, users cannot set user-specific proxy settings. They must use the zones created for all users of the computer. What zones and where do I configure the proxy settings for them? I assumed the policy would simply take the user settings and apply them, but that's not what's happening. Now no proxy server is set at all. So my previous settings obviously no longer have any effect. So far, I've only come up with solutions that involved direct manipulation of the Windows registry. Which is fine, I guess, but the way the proxy is configured for users makes it appear as if there could be a higher level approach.

  • Using Hibernate with MS ACCESS 2007 Database (Free JDBC Driver)

    - by Quentin T.
    1. I want to do a reverse engineering action with the Hibernate plugin of Eclipse on a MS Access 2007 Database. I'm forced to use a existing MS Access 2007 db. A easy solution is to buy the HXTT. But I want to use a free driver to do my work. So I tried to apply this post : http://www.programmingforfuture.com/2011/06/how-to-use-ms-access-with-hibernate.html (That uses the SQL Server dialect and the driver sun.jdbc.odbc.JdbcOdbcDriver) Unfortunately I have an error that nobody seems to have been on the internet: Exception while generating code Reason : org.hibernate.exception.GenericJDBCException: Error while reading primary key meta data for `c:/myaccessdb.mdb`.TableTest1 I have try to change the primary key on my MS Access DB (deleting all primary key) or to try the reverse engineering on a MS ACCESS with only one table without primary key, but I got all times the problems. 2. The purpose of my job is to transfer daily (weekly) an Oracle 11g database with data from an existing database MS ACCESS 2007. And I thought to use a procedure (Hibernate EJB) Java to be launched automatically every week to do the data transfer. Is this is the best solution ? Configuration : sun.jdbc.odbc.JdbcOdbcDriver v??? Hibernate v3.4 Eclipse ps: If you are a HXTT developer or seller please be indulgent with my post ;). Making money by making people believe that you help, it's bad ! A solution is to use Derby Client driver, as the solution in the post: Does anyone know if Hibernate and java will work effectively with Access? But a clarification of the answer of Rich Seller is required. Could you explain your answer and explain your configuration (hibernate.cfg.xml, persistence.xml and what URL you use in the property name="hibernate.connection.url") without using paying HXTT driver but with the free Derby driver.
