• Issue with 'Hello Android' tutorial

  I am brand new to Eclipse and Android, but somewhat familiar with Java. That having been said, I tried to follow the 'Hello Android' tutorial from the developer site using the latest Eclipse (Galieo) and the 2.1 Android SDK, I am on a Macintosh running Snow Leopard (OS X 10.6). I have a default virtual device (though my target is actually for phones like my own HTC Incredible which has the snapdragon processor and of course all the latest accoutrement in smart phones. Everything seemed to go okay until I went to RUN>RUN and then selected 'Android Application'. My computer spins it's wheels for a while and then I see two errors. I never do see the text in the emulator and the emulator crashes with a message about it quitting unexpectedly. The actual code is line by line from the tutorial and I have never been able to get to the XML part yet. I am not sure what is wrong with my environment setup or if it is just an incompatibility with Snow Leopard? • Paramaterising SQL in SSIS

  Hi all, I'm trying to paramaterize some queries in SSIS. After some reading, it sounds like my best option is to create one variable that contains my base sql, another that contains my criteria and a final variable that is evaluated as an expression that includes both of these. I want to end up with an SQL query that is effectively UPDATE mytable set something='bar' where something_else='foo' So my first two variables have the scope of my package and are as follows: Name: BaseSQL Data Type: String Value: UPDATE mytable set something = 'bar' where something_else = Name: MyVariable Data Type: String Value: foo My third variable has a scope of the data flow task where I want to use this SQL and is as follows: Name: SQLQuery Data Type: String Value: @[User::BaseSQL] + "'" + @[User::MyVariable] + "'" EvaluateAsExpression: True In the OLE DB Source, I then choose my connection and 'SQL command from variable' and select User::SQLQuery from the dropdown box. The Variable Value window then displays the following: @[User::BaseSQL] + "'" + @[User::MyVariable] + "'" This is as desired, and would provide the output I want from my DB. The variable name dropdown also contains User::BaseSQL and User::MyVariable so I believe that my namespaces are correct. However, when I then click preview, I get the following error when configuring an OLE DB Source (using SQL command from variable): TITLE: Microsoft Visual Studio Error at Set runtime in DB [Set runtime in myDb DB [1]]: SSIS Error Code DTS_E_OLEDBERROR. An OLE DB error has occurred. Error code: 0x80040E14. An OLE DB record is available. • Recognize Dates In A String

  I want a class something like this: public interface IDateRecognizer { DateTime[] Recognize(string s); } The dates might exist anywhere in the string and might be any format. For now, I could limit to U.S. culture formats. The dates would not be delimited in any way. They might have arbitrary amounts of whitespace between parts of the date. The ideas I have are: ANTLR Regex Hand rolled I have never used ANTLR, so I would be learning from scratch. I wonder if there are libraries or code samples out there that do something similar that could jump start me. Is ANTLR too heavy for such a narrow use? I have used Regex a lot before, but I hate it for all the reasons that most people hate it. I could certainly hand roll it but I'd rather not re-solve a solved problem. Suggestions? UPDATE: Here is an example. Given this input: This is a date 11/3/63. Here is another one: November 03, 1963; and another one Nov 03, 63 and some more (11/03/1963). The dates could be in any U.S. format. They might have dashes like 11-2-1963 or weird extra whitespace inside like this: Nov   3,   1963, and even maybe the comma is missing like [Nov 3 63] but that's an edge case. The output should be an array of seven DateTimes. Each date would be the same: 11/03/1963 00:00:00.

• Why won't this println command start a new line?

Why isn't the System.out.println (" ") ; creating a line break? Here is an example of what the output winds up being: Northwest Territory, Alberta, Kamchatka, hidavid-names-macbook-pro:~ davidname$ EDIT: the problem was that this method was never being invoked. A different one which i was replacing was. All is well.

• Working around "one executable per project" in Visual C# for many small test programs

  When working with Visual Studio in general (or Visual C# Express in my particular case), it looks like each project can be configured to produce only one output - e.g. a single executable or a library. I'm working on a project that consists of a shared library and a few application, and I already have one project in my solution for each of those. However, during development I find it useful to write small example programs that can run one small subsystem in isolation (at a level that doesn't belong in the unit tests). Is there a good way to handle this in Visual Studio? I'd like to avoid adding several dozen separate projects to my solution for each small test program I write, especially when these programs will typically be less than 100 lines of code. I'm hoping to find something that lets me continue to work in Visual Studio and use its build system (rather than moving to something like NAnt). I could foresee the answer being something like: A way of setting this up in Visual Studio that I haven't found yet A GUI like NUnit's graphical runner that searches an assembly for classes with defined Main() functions that you can select and run A command line tool that lets you specify an assembly and a class with a Main function to run

• Implementing a normal website inside ASP.NET MVC 2

  I have a website consisting of an index.html, a number of style sheet files as well as some javascript files. Then I needed a way for this site to communicate efficiently with a Microsoft SQL Server, so I was recommended to use the MVC framework to facilitate that kind of communication. I created the C#.net controller code needed to output the necessary information from the database using URL parameters, so now I am trying to put the whole web-site together inside the MVC framework. I started an empty project-template in MVC 2 framework. I'm sure there must be a good way to implement the current code into this framework, but I am very uncertain as to what the best approach to this would be. Could anyone point me in the right direction here? I'm not sure whether I need to change any of the current HTML, or exactly what to add to it. I'd love to see some kind of guide or tutorial, or just any advice I can get as I try to learn this. Any help is very much appreciated!

• Error loading shared libraries

  Hi, I'm running eclipse on Ubuntu using a g++ compiler and I'm trying to run a sample program that utilizes xerces. The build produced no errors however, when i attempted to run the program, I would receive this error: "error while loading shared libraries: libxerces-c-3.1.so: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory" libxerces-c-3.1.so is in the directory /opt/lib which I have included as a library in eclipse. The file is there when I checked the folder. When I perform an 'echo $LD_LIBRARY_PATH', /opt/lib is also listed. Any ideas into where the problem lies? Thanks. • Predefined column names in SQL Server pivot table

  Hi, the other day I opened a topic here in StackOverflow (stackoverflow.com/questions/4663698/how-can-i-display-a-consolidated-version-of-my-sql-server-table). At that time I needed help on how to show data on a pivot table. From the help I got here in the forum, my research led me to this page about dynamic SQL: www.sommarskog.se/dynamic_sql.html. And then it led me to this awesome SQL script by Itzik Ben-Gan that will create a stored procedure that outputs a pivot table exactly the way I want: sommarskog.se/pivot_sp.sp. Well, almost. I need one change in this stored procedure. Instead of having dynamic column names pulled from the @on_cols variable in the SPROC, I need the output table to hold generic column names in simple ASC order. Could be, for example, col1, col2, col3, col4 ... The dynamic column names are a problem for me. So I need them named by their index in the order they appear. I have tried all sorts of things changing this great SQL script, but it won't work. I did not paste the code from the author because it is too long, but the link above will get us there. • Segmentation fault with queue in C

• Passing options in autospec with Cucumber in Ruby on Rails Development

  I always run autospec to run features and RSpec at the same time, but running all the features is often time-consuming on my local computer. I would run every feature before committing code. I would like to pass the argument in autospec command. autospec doesn't obviously doesn't accept the arguments directly. Here's the output of autospec -h: autotest [options] options: -h -help You're looking at it. -v Be verbose. Prints files that autotest doesn't know how to map to tests. -q Be more quiet. -f Fast start. Doesn't initially run tests at start. I do have a cucumber.yml in config directory. I also have rerun.txt in the Rails root directory. cucumber -h gives me a lot of information about arguments. How can I run autospec against features that are tagged as @wip? I think I can make use of config/cucumber.yml. There are profile definitions. I can run cucumber -p wip to run only @wip-tagged features, but I'd like to do this with autospec. I would appreciate any tips for working with many spec and feature files.

• Image Grabbing with False Referer

  Hey guys, I'm struggling with grabbing an image at the moment... sounds silly, but check out this link :P http://manga.justcarl.co.uk/A/Oishii_Kankei/31/1 If you get the image URL, the image loads. Go back, it looks like it's working fine, but that's just the browser loading up the cached image. The application was working fine before, I'm thinking they implemented some kind of Referer check on their images. So I found some code and came up with the following... $ref = 'http://www.thesite.com/'; $file = 'theimage.jpg'; $hdrs = array( 'http' = array( 'method' = "GET", 'header'= "accept-language: en\r\n" . • Automatic testing of GUI related private methods

  When it comes to GUI programming (at least for web) I feel that often the only thing that would be useful to unit test is some of the private methods*. While unit testing makes perfect sense for back-end code, I feel it doesn't quite fit the GUI classes. What is the best way to add automatic testing of these? * Why I think the only methods useful to test is private: Often when I write GUI classes they don't even have any public methods except for the constructor. The public methods if any is trivial, and the constructor does most of the job calling private methods. They receive some data from server does a lot of trivial output and feeds data to the constructor of other classes contained inside it, adding listeners that calls a (more or less directly) calls the server... Most of it pretty trivial (the hardest part is the layout: css, IE, etc.) but sometimes I create some private method that does some advanced tricks, which I definitely do not want to be publicly visible (because it's closely coupled to the implementation of the layout, and likely to change), but is sufficiently complicated to break. These are often only called by the constructor or repeatedly by events in the code, not by any public methods at all. I'd like to have a way to test this type of methods, without making it public or resorting to reflection trickery. (BTW: I'm currently using GWT, but I feel this applies to most languages/frameworks I've used when coding for GUI)

  I'm attempting to remove Component elements from the XML below that have File children with the extension "config." I've managed to do this part, but I also need to remove the matching ComponentRef elements that have the same IDs as these Components. <Fragment> <DirectoryRef Id="MyWebsite"> <Component Id="Comp1"> <File Source="Web.config" /> </Component> <Component Id="Comp2"> <File Source="Default.aspx" /> </Component> </DirectoryRef> </Fragment> <Fragment> <ComponentGroup Id="MyWebsite"> <ComponentRef Id="Comp1" /> <ComponentRef Id="Comp2" /> </ComponentGroup> </Fragment> Based on other SO answers, I've come up with the following XSLT to remove these Component elements: <?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8"?> <xsl:stylesheet version="1.0" xmlns:xsl="http://www.w3.org/1999/XSL/Transform"> <xsl:output method="xml" indent="yes" /> <xsl:template match="Component[File[substring(@Source, string-length(@Source)- string-length('config') + 1) = 'config']]" /> <xsl:template match="@*|node()"> <xsl:copy> <xsl:apply-templates select="@*|node()"/> </xsl:copy> </xsl:template> </xsl:stylesheet> Unfortunately, this doesn't remove the matching ComponentRef elements. The XSLT will remove the component with the Id "Comp1" but not the ComponentRef with Id "Comp1". How do I achieve this using XSLT 1.0?

  I am developing a Web application in Java. In that application, I have created webservices in Java. In that webservice, I have created one webmethod which returns the image list in base64 format. The return type of the method is Vector. In webservice tester I can see the SOAP response as xsi:type="xs:base64Binary". Then I called this webmethod in my application. I used the following code: SBTSWebService webService = null; List imageArray = null; List imageList = null; webService = new SBTSWebService(); imageArray = webService.getSBTSWebPort().getAddvertisementImage(); Iterator itr = imageArray.iterator(); while(itr.hasNext()) { String img = (String)itr.next(); byte[] bytearray = Base64.decode(img); BufferedImage imag=ImageIO.read(new ByteArrayInputStream(bytearray)); imageList.add(imag); } In this code I am receiving the error: java.lang.ClassCastException: [B cannot be cast to java.lang.String" on line String img = (String)itr.next(); Is there any mistake in my code? Or is there any other way to bring the image in actual format? Can you provide me the code or link through which I can resolve the above issue?
