  • Javascript Print Script Not Working in IE

    Greets! I'm a noob struggling to learn html and javascript - getting there slowly. I'm trying to print a DIV served up by SimpleModal. The page is at: www.planetsarsfield.com This "Print" function is in the recipe box at the bottom. Everything works great in FF, but it doesn't work at all in IE8. I must be doing something fundamentally wrong but I can't spot it. Any ideas?     I am getting some unexpected behavior from Html.EditorFor(). It feels like something in ASP.NET is overriding my model values from updating the text boxes and they are just displaying the same old values. I found this issue while trying to learn EditorFor with an IEnumerable.

  • Marshal.StringToCoTaskMemAnsi converting non-Latin characters when sending raw data to a printer

    For sending raw data to a thermal DATAMAX printer I'm using RawPrinterHelper class from this Microsoft KB article. When a string sent to printer contains only Latin characters, everything is OK. But non-Latin, in my case Russian characters in a string, are not printed correct. I think the problem is in using Marshal.StringToCoTaskMemAnsi method for converting the string: public static bool SendStringToPrinter(string szPrinterName, string szString) { IntPtr pBytes; Int32 dwCount; // How many characters are in the string? dwCount = szString.Length; // Assume that the printer is expecting ANSI text, and then convert // the string to ANSI text. pBytes = Marshal.StringToCoTaskMemAnsi(szString); // Send the converted ANSI string to the printer. SendBytesToPrinter(szPrinterName, pBytes, dwCount); Marshal.FreeCoTaskMem(pBytes); return true; } Just to note, Russian characters in the string are put in hex format, like "\x83", but nevertheless the method doesn't put this hex value in unmanaged memory as it is, but converts it, I think, according with ANSI code page to a character and then printer can not read it correctly. If I try to compose a file, using Hex editor and put correct hex values in place of non-Latin characters and then send the file to a printer using another method from the same class SendFileToPrinter, everything, including Russian characters is printed correctly. How in this case the problem with sending string, containing non-Latin characters, could be solved?

    I'm having a strange problem that I don't understand. I have a UIScrollView with several UITextField objects. When I switch to the view, I set the first UITextField as firstresponder, and the keyboardWasShown method gets called due to the UIKeyboardDidShowNotification that the view is registered for. The weird thing is, when I touch the next UITextField, the keyboardWasShown method is not called. I don't understand this, since Apple's documentation says "If your interface has multiple text fields, the user can tap between them to edit the values in each one. When that happens, however, the keyboard does not disappear but the system does still generate UIKeyboardDidShowNotification notifications each time editing begins in a new text field." My code I've copied directly from Apple's documentation as well, and it works properly, but it only gets called the first time.     I'm playing some notes at regular intervals. Each one is delayed by a random number of milliseconds, creating a jarring irregular effect. How do I fix it? Note: I'm OK with some latency, just as long as it's consistent. Answers of the type "implement your own small SoundManager2 replacement, optimized for timing-sensitive playback" are OK, if you know how to do that :) but I'm trying to avoid rewriting my whole app in flash for now.   • Binding XML in Sliverlight without Nominal Classes

    Lets say I have a simple chunck of XML:- <root> <item forename="Fred" surname="Flintstone" /> <item forename="Barney" surname="Rubble" /> </root> Having fetched this XML in Silverlight I would like to bind it with xaml of this ilke:- <ListBox x:Name="ItemList" Style="{StaticResource Items}"> <ListBox.ItemTemplate> <DataTemplate> <StackPanel Orientation="Horizontal"> <TextBox Text="{Binding Forename}" /> <TextBox Text="{Binding Surname}" /> </StackPanel> </DataTemplate> </ListBox.ItemTemplate> </ListBox> Now I can bind simply enough with LINQ to XML and a nominal class:- public class Person { public string Forename {get; set;} public string Surname {get; set;} } So here is the question, can it be done without this class? IOW coupling between the Sliverlight code and the input XML is limited to the XAML only, other source code is agnostic to the set of attributes on the item element. Edit: The use of XSD is suggested but ultimately it amounts the same thing. XSD-Generated class. Edit: An anonymous class doesn't work, Silverlight can't bind them. Edit: This needs to be two way, the user needs to be able to edit the values and these value end up in the XML. (Changed original TextBlock to TextBox in sample above).

  • XSL apply templates not working...could be XPath error

    I have converted mny stylesheet to use apply templates instead of call templates and it worked fine for my other styesheet, which was more complicated, but this one doesn't seem to work even thought it is a much simpler template. All that it outputs is the sex node and the userlevel node. I think it has to do with my Xpath.     I have developed a Delphi web server application (TWebModule). It runs as a ISAPI DLL on Apache under Windows. The application in turn makes frequent https calls to other web sites using the Indy TIdHTTP component. Periodically I get this error when using the TIdHTTP.get method: Could not bind socket. Other considerations: I know multiple instances of TWebModule are being spawned. Would wrapping all calls to TIdHttp.get within a TCriticalSection solve the problem?

    I've just upgraded my Mac to Snow Leopard and got my Rails environment up and running. The only difference -- OSX aside -- with my previous install is that I'm now running ruby 1.8.7 (2008-08-11 patchlevel 72) [universal-darwin10.0] (Snow Leopard default) rather than 1.8.6. I'm now seeing deprecation warnings relating to OpenSSL when I run my code: warning: argumtents for OpenSSL::Cipher::Cipher#encrypt and OpenSSL::Cipher::Cipher#decrypt were deprecated; use OpenSSL::Cipher::Cipher#pkcs5_keyivgen to derive key and IV Example of my code which is causing these warnings (it decodes an encrypted string) on line 4: 1. def decrypt(data) 2. encryptor = OpenSSL::Cipher::Cipher.new('DES-EDE3-CBC') 3. key = "my key" 4. encryptor.decrypt(key) 5. text = encryptor.update(data) 6. text << encryptor.final 7. end I'm struggling to understand how I can resolve this, and Google isn't really helping. Should I try and downgrade to Ruby 1.8.6 (and if so, what's the best way of doing this?), should I try and just hide the warnings (bury my head in the sand?!) or is there an easy fix I can apply in the code?

    Hey all i am having a weird problem with sending data back to my server. The NSLog output for each value is correct. But for some reason when i put a break on the IF ([data isEqualToString:@"Done"]) it has no return value. I checked each value for what it was sending (and again, it was correct in the NSLog output) and i found that the value "theID" said "Out of scope". Although, again, the NSLog had the value in it correctly? So i searched the forum and found a simular problem. I took their advice and added "RETAIN" to the "theID" value like so: theID = [customObjInstance TID]; [theID retain]; However, that did not solve the issue...     I'm creating a website where I need to show the top 5 records from an RSS feed, and these need to be sorted by date and time. The date fields in the RSS feed are in the following format: "Mon, 16 Feb 2009 16:02:44 GMT" I'm having big problems getting the records to sort correctly - I've tried lots of different code examples I've seen, but none seem to sort the records correctly.   • Changing UITableViewCell textLabel background color to clear

    In my app i have a table view with customViewCells. i subclassed the UITableViewCell class and added an image that will load async and for the text i use cell.textLabel.text = @"someThext". for the cells the background color is set alternatively to [UIColor darkGrayColor] and whitecolor. When i run the app in the simulator and on the pone the textLabel of the cell has the background white. I want to set it to be clear, because i want the background color of the cell to be full not a strip then white then another strip. in the init method of my custom cell i added hoping that the white will turn into red but it doesn't have any effect. [self.textLabel setBackgroundColor:[UIColor redColor]]; i tried also self.textLabel.backgroundColor = [UIColor redColor]; but this also didn't work...if i add a UILabel as a subview the background color of the label can be set..but i don't want to do that because when i rotate the phone i want my labels to auto enlarge... any ideas why setting the background color of cell.textLabel doesn't work? thank you

    I thought this would be pretty simple.... Basically, it's a 5-star rating system. When a user clicks, for example, three stars... I want to freeze those three stars right where they're at. I've been trying to simply remove the hover for the a href so it stays what it was at... maybe that's not the right method. I've exhausted absolutely everything I can think of... By the way this is straight javascript, not jquery or anything. It's crazy, I know but all of the JS was written straight....     I have a text blob field in a MySQL column that contains HTML. I have to change some of the markup, so I figured I'll do it in a ruby script. Ruby is irrelevant here, but it would be nice to see an answer with it. The markup looks like the following: <h5>foo</h5> <table> <tbody> </tbody> </table> <h5>bar</h5> <table> <tbody> </tbody> </table> <h5>meow</h5> <table> <tbody> </tbody> </table> I need to change just the first <h5>foo</h5> block of each text to <h2>something_else</h2> while leaving the rest of the string alone. Can't seem to get the proper PCRE regex, using Ruby.

  • Inserting a Variable String into the javascript prototype expression

    Dear experts, Pardon me for giving you a confusing title on this problem. I'm really confused and i don't know how to put it in other words. So here is what I what to accomplish. I am making a Custom Javascript Object to store data. I have automated this process and inserted each instance of the object into an array. I am making a loop statement to invoke the unique property value of each instance of the object. When I want to use an expression, the property name of the object would be variable since i don't know which one it is. Basically I need to incorporate a string value into the prototype expression. e.g document.getElementById('text').style."fontsize"=value; since I cannot do this directly, i thought possibly I could use the eval function: eval('document.getElementById("text").style.' + buttons[i].cssvalue + '="39px";'); but this still doesn't work. Can this be fixed or ss there an alternative way to accomplish this? If there are some unclear stuff, please point out and I will try to elaborate. Thanks in advance.

    I'm writing an application to respond on a hotkey by copying highlighted text into NSPasteboard's generalPasteboard. Each subsequent hit will not to grab the highlighted text. The generalPasteboard still contains the same contents as before the script is run again. Clearing the generalPasteboard before I run the code is no use, because then the code fails when attempting to read the pasteboard contents. So I tried the next suggested solution: CFRelease(CGEventCreate(NULL)); CGEventRef event1, event2, event3, event4; event1 = CGEventCreateKeyboardEvent (NULL, (CGKeyCode)50, true); event2 = CGEventCreateKeyboardEvent (NULL, (CGKeyCode)8, true); event3 = CGEventCreateKeyboardEvent (NULL, (CGKeyCode)8, false); event4 = CGEventCreateKeyboardEvent (NULL, (CGKeyCode)50, false); CGEventPost(kCGHIDEventTap, event1); CGEventPost(kCGHIDEventTap, event2); CGEventPost(kCGHIDEventTap, event3); CGEventPost(kCGHIDEventTap, event4); The above should send the keystrokes Command + c, but all I get is a beep, and the pasteboard contents are unchanged. I'm at wits end - can anyone enlighten me as to what I'm missing or point me out to what I'm overlooking for something so simple?

  • Rails Autocompletion Issue - Rails 1.2.3 to 2.3.5

    I have an issue with rails Autocompletion from some code that i've inherited from an old Rails 1.2.3 project that I'm porting to Rails 2.3.5. The issue revolves around javascript execution within the auto_complete helper :after_update_element. The scenario is: A user is presented with a popup form with a number of fields. In the first field as they enter text the auto_complete AJAX call occurs, returning a result, plus a series of other HTML data wrapped in <divs> so that the after_update_element call can iterate over the other data and fill in the remaining fields. The issue lies with the extraction of the other fields which works on IE, fails on Firefox.     Hi, I've recently tried to optimize my site for speed and brandwith. Amongst many other techniques, I've used GZIP on my .css and .js files. Using PuTTY I compressed the files on my site and then used: <IfModule mod_rewrite.c> RewriteEngine On RewriteCond %{HTTP:Accept-encoding} gzip RewriteCond %{HTTP_USER_AGENT} !Konqueror RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME}.gz -f RewriteRule ^(.*)\.css$ $1.css.gz [QSA,L] RewriteRule ^(.*)\.js$ $1.js.gz [QSA,L] <FilesMatch \.css\.gz$> ForceType text/css </FilesMatch> <FilesMatch \.js\.gz$> ForceType text/javascript </FilesMatch> </IfModule> <IfModule mod_mime.c> AddEncoding gzip .gz </IfModule> in my .htaccess file so that they get served properly because all my links are without the ".gz". My problem is, I cant work on the GZIP file in Dreamweaver. Is there a plugin or extension of somesort that allows Dreamweaver to temporarily uncompress thses files so it can read them? Or is there a way that I can work on my local copies as regular files, and server side they automatically get compressed when they are uploaded. Or is there a different code editor I should be using that would completely get around this? Or a just a different technique to doing this? I hope this question makes sense, Thanks

  • Problem with extended ASCII characters in web page/master page

    I have some localization problems in my webpage. There are basically two problems (that I suspect have a different sulution, but they are conseptually linked) First problem is this: I have a website that is using a master page. All text from the page is fine, but all text that comes from the master page file, get scrambled norwegian characters. For example Ø shows up as Ø. It seems that all characthers in the extended ASCII table gets scrambled this way. Afterwards, if I open the master page in Notepad the Ø looks normal, but if I remove the Ø and write a new Ø manually, then save the file from Notepad, and then open the website in the browser, it looks fine and the Ø is shown properly. So it seems that Visual Studio saves the characters wrongly in the master file, but correct for the aspx file. Any clue here? The second issue is norwegian characters coming from jQuery. All of these characters get's replaced by a questionmark with a black box around it. Here, modifying the js file in Notepad does not help, and it still display scrambled in the browser. Any input here would be appreciated.

    I am looking to migrate my selenium RC tests to using PHPUnit 3.4.12 from PHPUnit 3.3.2 The selenium test will fail with an exception of the following when I use assertTextPresent() PHPUnit_Framework_Exception: Response from Selenium RC server for getLocation(). ERROR Server Exception: sessionId should not be null; has this session been started yet?. For example: public function testSending($browser) { ... $browser->click("send"); $browser->waitForPageToLoad("30000"); $browser->assertTextPresent("text"); } Below is the selenium RC log (running on Windows): 15:40:19.676 INFO - Command request: isTextPresent[text, ] on session 153d03a123c42098711994f43c2db34 15:40:19.691 INFO - Got result: OK,false on session 153d023a123c42098711994f43cdb34 15:40:19.879 INFO - Command request: testComplete[, ] on session 153d023a123c4298711994f43c2db34 15:40:19.879 INFO - Killing Firefox... 15:40:20.269 INFO - Got result: OK on session 153d023a123c42098711994f43c2db34 15:40:20.472 INFO - Command request: getLocation[, ] on session null 15:40:20.472 ERROR - Exception running 'getLocation 'command on session null java.lang.NullPointerException: sessionId should not be null; has this session been started yet? As you can see, the test should have completed as indicated by the "Killing Firefox" bit, but it instead continued to do something else and triggered the getLocation[, ] command which caused the exception. I have tried the same test with PHPUnit 3.3.2 which did not produce this problem - the test would happily end without the getLocation(). Any ideas? thanks

    Hi, I am trying to define a multicolumn listview in xaml (visual studio 2008) and then add items to it in c#. I have seen many posts on this subject, and tried the various methods, but I am getting errors. my xaml code is below, VS does not flag any errors on it. <ListView Height="234.522" Name="chartListView" Width="266.337"> <ListView.View> <GridView> <GridViewColumn Header="Name" Width="70"/> <GridViewColumn Header="ID" /> </GridView> </ListView.View> </ListView> to try and add data to the columns, I created a button and put the code in the button click : private void button3_Click(object sender, RoutedEventArgs e) { chartListView.Items.Add("item1").SubItems.Add("item2"); } the error that is showing is on Subitems is: 'int' does not contain a definition for 'SubItems' and no extension method 'SubItems' accepting a first argument of type 'int' could be found (are you missing a using directive or an assembly reference?) D:\devel\VS\pchart\pchart\pchart\Window1.xaml.cs Also, I tried looking at some other posts on listview controls such as http://stackoverflow.com/questions/1260812/listview-inserting-items i tried the code there : ListViewItem item = new ListViewItem(); item.Text=anInspector.getInspectorName().ToString(); and got almost the same error on item.Text as i did with SubItems. is there something earlier in my code, or project definition that i am missing?
