Crystal reports isn't working on different servers because they use different connection strings and crystal reports can't use the connection string stored on the web.config to access the database. Is there an alternative to crystal reports that can use the connection string on the web.config file? or does someone know how to fix the problem using crystal reports? thanks.

  • Is it ethical to let users see the request headers from visitors to a url shortening service?

    - by soniiic
I'm currently in the progress of making a url shortening service that will let the creator see the http request headers that the browser has made when visitors visit the url. The visitors won't be made aware that they are being tracked, but obviously nothing is personally identifiable. Is there anything I should be made aware of ethically or legally that makes this a bad idea?

    - by David Martines
    IIS 7.0 (Shared Hosting) ASP.NET 2.0 Integrated Pipeline mode MVC 1.0 I get a 404 on every url except /default.aspx. I have this in my web.config: <system.webServer> <defaultDocument enabled="true"> <files> <clear /> <add value="Default.aspx" /> </files> </defaultDocument> <directoryBrowse enabled="false" /> <validation validateIntegratedModeConfiguration="false" /> <handlers> <add name="ScriptHandlerFactory_asmx" verb="*" path="*.asmx" type="System.Web.Script.Services.ScriptHandlerFactory, System.Web.Extensions, Version=3.5.0.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=31BF3856AD364E35" /> <add name="ScriptHandlerFactory_axd" verb="*" path="*_AppService.axd" type="System.Web.Script.Services.ScriptHandlerFactory, System.Web.Extensions, Version=3.5.0.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=31BF3856AD364E35" /> <add name="ScriptResourceHandler" verb="GET,HEAD" path="ScriptResource.axd" type="System.Web.Handlers.ScriptResourceHandler, System.Web.Extensions, Version=3.5.0.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=31BF3856AD364E35" /> <add name="MvcHttpHandler" verb="*" path="*.mvc" type="System.Web.Mvc.MvcHttpHandler, System.Web.Mvc, Version=1.0.0.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=31BF3856AD364E35" /> <add name="ErrorLogPageFactory" verb="POST,GET,HEAD" path="elmah.axd" type="Elmah.ErrorLogPageFactory, Elmah" /> </handlers> <modules runAllManagedModulesForAllRequests="true"> <remove name="ScriptModule" /> <remove name="UrlRoutingModule" /> <remove name="ErrorLog" /> <remove name="UnitOfWorkModule" /> <add name="ScriptModule" preCondition="managedHandler" type="System.Web.Handlers.ScriptModule, System.Web.Extensions, Version=3.5.0.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=31BF3856AD364E35" /> <add name="UrlRoutingModule" type="System.Web.Routing.UrlRoutingModule, System.Web.Routing, Version=3.5.0.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=31BF3856AD364E35" /> <add name="UnitOfWorkModule" type="MusicCompany.Infrastructure.UnitOfWorkModule, MusicCompany.Infrastructure" /> <add name="ErrorLog" type="Elmah.ErrorLogModule, Elmah" /> </modules> The only unusual thing to me is the defaultDocument. It seems I need it because of the way the host (shared hosting) is set up (?) Any clues? Thanks

  • Could it be that the stack size of a Web Service is smaller than that of a Window Application?

    - by mouthpiec
Hi, I have a program that includes a recursive function. This function when executed in a Windows Application works just fine, and when used in a Webservice, it works fine when the webservice is initiated by the VS (it assigns a random port), but this function return a stackoverflow error when the webservice is published. (note that the machine used is the same, hence it is published on my pc). Could it be that the stack size of a Web Service is smaller than that of a Window Application?

  • Is there a way that WCF service can know which machine the call comes from?

    - by erxuan
Hi, I have a WCF service and without changing any code on the client side, is there a way that I can know the detail information of the caller, such as the MachineName, and ApplicationName? Basically, I cannot change the client code to pass those pieces of information over. I tried to use System.Web.HttpContext on the server side to track this information, but HttpContext.Current is NULL. I guess that is not the proper usage of it. Any suggestion? Thanks Sarah

  • Specifying a relative path in web.xml when debugging a servlet with Eclipse's WTP Tomcat Server?

    - by ilitirit
I'm trying to specify a relative directory in the web.xml file. I basically want it to read the "data" folder underneath "web-inf", but nothing I've tried seems to work. "/data" translates to the data folder in the root directory (I'm using windows). "data" translates to "C:\Program Files\Eclipes\data" "${CATALINA_HOME}/[etc...]" doesn't seem to work either. Any ideas?

  • How to read the Web.Config file in a Custom Activity Designer in a WF4 Workflow Service

    - by Preet Sangha
I have a WF service with a custom activity and a custom designer (WPF). I want to add a validation that will check for the presence of some value in the web.config file. At runtime I can overload void CacheMetadata(ActivityMetadata metadata) and thus I can do the validation happily there using System.Configuration.ConfigurationManager to read the config file. Since I also want to do this at design time, I was looking for a way to do this in the designer.

  • What are some good resources for the Web Forms MVP project?

    - by Nissan Fan
I've seen a little buzz on ASP.NET Web Forms MVP project, but where can I get resources? http://webformsmvp.com is pretty much stubbed out for now. This appears to be a compelling refresh of the Web Forms paradigm and bring into the fold things that make ASP.NET MVC great. I hear it's going to be put out there at MIX10 this week, but anyone have any useful sites/references?

  • Why would JmDNS service discovery work on a Motorola Droid running Android 2.1-update1 and not on an

    - by Churlbong
I have successfully gotten JmDNS working on Android 2.1 testing on a Motorola Droid by using MulticastLock, but recently got an HTC Incredible as second test device, and JmDNS discovery doesn't work at all. I should mention that broadcasting a service still works and everything appears to run normally, but serviceAdded() never gets called. Does anyone have thoughts on why this might be? I was thinking it might be a permission issue, but I don't get any exceptions...
