• ftp user and www-data

  I have a websites that should be completely accessible for Apache(www-data user) and I have an ftp user(that has the same username on the server: user1) that should be able to update the website. I need the user to be able to add files to the website directory, but the www-data should have a full access to the added files. user1 is a member of www-data group. For now when user1 uploads file to the server the file has a rights: 644, but I need 664. How I could organise it. Many thanks

• Retrieving Chrome History and History Archives for Mac

  I've read some articles here that suggest that we are able to retrieve Chrome's history as SQLite databases: Export history from chome browser How can I view "archived" Google Chrome history — i.e. history older than three months? I can't seem to find the folder where these are supposed to be located. In the first article, the provided path was ~/Library/Application\ Support/Google/Chrome/Default/History, but there is no such directory in my filesystem. I am using Chrome 26.0.1410.65 on Mac OS X Lion. And I am signed in with my Google account.   My Configure Command doesn't say anything about jpg, nor gif/png, but I can see gif/png support in the output of phpinfo(). I built PHP with --with-gd, but only GIF Support and PNG Support are in the output of phpinfo(), how do I enable JPEG Support? UPDATE I got this problem when compiling : Sorry, I cannot run apxs. Possible reasons follow: 1. Perl is not installed 2. apxs was not found. Try to pass the path using --with-apxs2=/path/to/apxs 3. Apache was not built using --enable-so (the apxs usage page is displayed) The output of /usr/local/apache2/bin/apxs follows: cannot open /usr/local/apache2/build/config_vars.mk: No such file or directory at /usr/local/apache2/bin/apxs line 218. • How to remove password protection from compressed files

  This has always been a problem for me for a long time. Let's see if any SuperUser can solve this: I have a directory in which there are lots of password protected .RAR files of which I know the passwords. I want to remove the password protection from all of them without extracting the contents. Since each file is larger than 1 GB, decompressing & then recompressing without password encryption is not a good option for me. How can I easily do that? I'm using WinRAR 3.80 on Win7. Any other 3rd party tools are welcomed.

• /var/run/httpd.pid missing...

  Recently one of our web servers httpd stopped working and I haven't been able to find the problem. Today I sat down and went through every directory in the httpd.conf and have found an issue. the /var/run/httpd.pid is missing from the folder. All other files are there and seem to be fine. I cannot create a new file with the same name in vi and I have no idea what could have caused this. I imagine it was caused by a cold reboot at some stage as no other extraordinary processes have been run on this server at the time it went down. I am running CentOS 3. How can I reinstate this file?

• iPhone 3G S sync services problem

  When I try and synchronise my iPhone with iTunes, I get a dialog informing me that "syncing has been disabled on this computer". (I've never disabled syncing myself, and it worked perfectly fine a day ago) Music synchronises fine, as do videos, however, my contacts do not. Google Contacts no longer appears in the list to choose from, and the select box is empty. When I choose to re-enable syncing, iTunes informs me that "iTunes was unable to load provider data from Sync Services". I've followed several steps I've found on the internet, including deleting the C:\Users\Ryan\AppData\Roaming\Apple Computer\Sync Services directory, but to no avail. Any ideas on what could be causing this? Is there a Service (in the Windows-form-of-daemon sense) that I accidentally disabled?

  Hi Guys, I have searched around and havent really found an answer anywhere and this is still not working for me. I am using compression in IIS7 and it doesn't appear to be working. • Error "403 Forbidden" on Sharepoint Search Settings Page

  Hello I thought I had solved this nightmare by re-entering the values in my SSP properties set up, however accessing the Search Settings page error has reared it ugly head again. Please guys how do I get around this access denied issue. Thanks

  When i place ojdbc5.jar in the c8\webapps\p2pd\WEB-INF\lib directory... i receive the error below. And yes the content store is on an oracle 11g RAC database. I am running Oracle11g Client. Cognos version is 8.3 SP4. [Content Manager database connection] 1. [ ERROR ] The database connection failed. 2. [ ERROR ] Content Manager failed to start because it could not load driver "oracle.jdbc.driver.OracleDriver". Any help would be greatly appreciated.

  I'm trying to get my java program to talk to a MySQL DB. So i did some reading and downloaded MySQL Connector/J. I've extracted it into my home directory ~. • SonicFileFinder 2.2 Released

  My colleague Jens Schaller has released a new version of his free Visual Studio add-in SonicFileFinder, adding support for Visual Studio 2010. Announcement on his blog Download on the SonicFileFinder website As far as I can tell, there are no new features compared to version 2.1, but good to know that this add-in is now available for VS2010. For those who a wondering what SonicFileFinder is about: SonicFileFinder implements a command for searching and opening files in a Visual Studio solution, which is very nice especially in large projects. This may sound familiar to users of JetBrain’s ReSharper, which has a “Go To File” feature. But in my opinion SonicFileFinder does a better job overall: While ReSharper (4.5) does a prefix search by default, SonicFileFinder searches for any occurrence of the entered text inside a file name. In a long list of file names (e.g. all starting with “Page…”), this allows me to focus on the part that makes the difference (e.g. “Render” in PageRenderBuffer.cs). In ReSharper I would have to type “*Render*”, which can be shortened to “*Render” (which isn’t even correct). Note that SonicFileFinder does support wildcards, of course.   SonicFileFinder remembers the last input (and thus the last result list) without a noticeable delay of the popup. If I want to search for something different, I can type right away, so this behavior doesn’t slow me down. But where it really shines is when I’m not even sure what file exactly I was looking for – I open one file, notice that it’s not the one I want, re-open the pop-up dialog and now I can choose another one from the result list without re-entering the search text. SonicFileFinder allows me to open multiple files at one (nice for service interfaces and implementations). SonicFileFinder lets me open either a Windows Explorer or Command Line window in the directory containing a specific file.

• SQL Server 2005 to 2008 upgrade - are MDF files binary compatible?

  I have 50 databases on a MS SQL Server 2005 system and want to upgrade to MS SQL Server 2008. This is what I tried on some test machines: 1. copied the \DATA directory from the source (MSSQL 2005) to exactly the same path on the target (MSSQL 2008) server. 2. edited the startup parameters on the MSSQL 2008 service to point to the path of the MSSQL 2005 master database. 3. restarted MSSQL service It worked and I can access all databases, tables and data. My questions are: I go back to SQL Server 4.2 and it has never been this easy. I know it worked, but should have it worked? Am I missing something, or is there going to be a gotcha next week? These are simple databases, with just tables, views and indexes. No cross database links, no triggers etc

• cPAddons version conflict with Wordpress

  I have multiple users on my CentOS 5.7 server with WHM/cPanel, who have installed WordPress 3.2.1, and eventually did a manual update to 3.3.1, from Wordpress itself. Now the version of WP for those users doesn't match th one detected by cPanel, and of course, "Upgrade" doesn't work because the directory can't be cleaned (WP is already working there). I've looked on the .cpaddons folder of each user account, and there's a YAML file there, but I'm not sure how can I touch that file for solving this issue. Is there any way to tell cPanel that those WP installations are in fact, 3.3.1?

• Long file path returning 404 for "hello.htm"

  Hello, I have a long file path that works on my server, but a simliar path returns a 404 error when it is on my clients (IIS6) server (http://ddmat.com/). Here's the functioning file path on my server: http://www.forgefx.com/projects/ddmat/install/Application Files/McCurdys_1_0_0_0/Content/FBX/CCAE1B33/Roof-sectionB-02.fbm/hello.htm My guesses: Maybe the file path is too long? Maybe the ".fbm" in the directory path is invalid? Sorry for the vauge problem description. Please let me know what additional info I can provide that'd be helpful. • Installing GeoIP on Mac?

  I want to install the MaxMind GeoIP C library, so that I can use GeoIP as part of Django. I'm working on MacOS. I've downloaded GeoIP-1.4.8.tar.gz from here and run: ./configure make make check make install without any problems. I've also downloaded GeoIP.dat.gz and GeoLiteCity.dat.gz, unzipped them and put them in a local directory. Then I've set the following paths in my settings.py: GEOIP_PATH = 'path_to_dat_files' GEOIP_LIBRARY_PATH = 'path_to_c_files' Now I'm trying to run python manage.py migrate (which has a reference to GeoIP in a project I'm using), but I'm still getting this error: from django.contrib.gis.utils import GeoIP ImportError: cannot import name GeoIP Any ideas?   Robocopy, or “Robust File Copy,” is a command line directory replication tool from Microsoft. It is available as part of Windows 7 and Vista as a standard feature, and was available as part of the Windows Server 2003 Resource Kit. NOTE: For Windows XP, you can obtain Robocopy by downloading the resource kit. Robocopy allows you to setup simple or advanced backup strategies. It provides such features as multi-threaded copying, mirroring or synchronization mode, automatic retry, and the ability to resume the copying process. If you are comfortable with using command line tools, you can run Robocopy directly on the command line using the command syntax and options. You can also download the command line reference and usage notes for Robocopy as a PDF file. • The provider is not compatible with the version of Oracle Client

  There was a recent upgrade of the Oracle client on a production web server housing serveral app pools each containing multiple web sites.  The upgrade consisted of adding the 11.2 client tools on the web server, but leaving the 9.2 and 10.2 versions alone.   After learning the upgrade occured, I updated Oracle.DataAccess.dll on my site to the 11.2 dll, and the web site ran smoothly.   The next day I discover the site is throwing an error:   Oracle.DataAccess.Client.OracleException:   The provider is not compatible with the version of Oracle Client   The App Pool will connect with an installed version of the Oracle client provider, and coordinate database interactions.  If a request comes in for a web site configured using an earlier version of the provider, that is the version the App Pool will use for Oracle interactions.  If a request is made for a site configured for a different version of the provider, the App Pool will see a conflict and throw the above error.   This web site: http://splinter.com.au/blog/?p=156 described the steps to grab the DLLs for a provider and bring them local (for Oracle 11.1), but even when I brought the DLLs for the Oracle Provider into the local bin directory, the App Pool would still determine the version of the oracle client and continue to throw the exception.   My only resolution for the above problem has been to have dedicated IIS app pools per version of Oracle client being leveraged.
