  • xml parser not able to read all the nodes of the xml

    - by pankaj
    Hi i am trying to get values from all the nodes of a xml returned from a web service. But my code only reads first node, it does not read it further. code: -(void)parseData{ NuanceAppDelegate *appDel = (NuanceAppDelegate *)[[UIApplication sharedApplication] delegate]; NSString *url = @"http://cmweb.bpomatrix.net/SmartPhoneService.svc/login/"; url = [[[url stringByAppendingString:UserName] stringByAppendingString:@"/"] stringByAppendingString:Password]; url = [[url stringByAppendingString:@"/"] stringByAppendingString:appDel.CPAID]; NSLog(@"log: @%",url); NSURL *loginURL = [NSURL URLWithString:url]; NSXMLParser *home_Parser = [[NSXMLParser alloc] initWithContentsOfURL:loginURL]; [home_Parser setDelegate:self]; dict = [[NSMutableDictionary alloc] init]; [home_Parser parse]; } - (void)parser:(NSXMLParser *)parser didStartElement:(NSString *)elementName namespaceURI:(NSString *)namespaceURI qualifiedName:(NSString *)qualifiedName attributes:(NSDictionary *)attributeDict{ if([elementName isEqualToString:@"Address"]) addressFound = TRUE; if([elementName isEqualToString:@"Name"]) nameFound = TRUE; if([elementName isEqualToString:@"LoyaltyNum"]) loyaltyNumFound = TRUE; if([elementName isEqualToString:@"City"]) cityFound = TRUE; if([elementName isEqualToString:@"Province"]) proFound = TRUE; if([elementName isEqualToString:@"Zip"]) zipFound = TRUE; //NSLog(@"Response %@",responseFound); } - (void)parser:(NSXMLParser *)parser foundCharacters:(NSString *)string{ if(addressFound) { [dict setObject:string forKey:@"address"]; addressFound = FALSE; } else if(nameFound) { [dict setObject:string forKey:@"name"]; nameFound = FALSE; } else if(loyaltyNumFound) { [dict setObject:string forKey:@"loyaltyNum"]; loyaltyNumFound = FALSE; } else if(cityFound) { [dict setObject:string forKey:@"city"]; cityFound = FALSE; } else if(proFound) { [dict setObject:string forKey:@"province"]; proFound = FALSE; } else if(zipFound) { [dict setObject:string forKey:@"zip"]; zipFound = FALSE; } } - (void)parser:(NSXMLParser *)parser didEndElement:(NSString *)elementName namespaceURI:(NSString *)namespaceURI qualifiedName:(NSString *)qName { if([elementName isEqualToString:@"clsUserProfile"]) { [self parsingOver]; } } -(void)parsingOver { NuanceAppDelegate *appDel = (NuanceAppDelegate *)[[UIApplication sharedApplication] delegate]; appDel.dictProfile = dict; }

  • Custom UIButton Memory Management in dealloc

    - by ddawber
I am hoping to clarify the processes going on here. I have created a subclass of UIButton whose init method looks like this: - (id)initWithTitle:(NSString *)title frame:(CGRect)btnFrame { self = [UIButton buttonWithType:UIButtonTypeCustom]; [self setTitle:title forState:UIControlStateNormal]; self.frame = btnFrame; return self; } In my view controller I am creating one of these buttons and adding it as a subview: myButton = [[CustomButton alloc] initWithTitle:@"Title" frame:someFrame]; [self.view addSubview:myButton]; In the view controller's dealloc method I log the retain count of my button: - (void)dealloc { NSLog(@"RC: %d", [myButton retainCount]); //RC = 2 [super dealloc]; NSLog(@"RC: %d", [myButton retainCount]); //RC = 1 } The way I understand it, myButton is not actually retained, even though I invoked it using alloc, because in my subclass I created an autorelease button (using buttonWithType:). In dealloc, does this mean that, when dealloc is called the superview releases the button and its retain count goes down to 1? The button has not yet been autoreleased? Or do I need to get that retain count down to zero after calling [super dealloc]? Cheers.

  • Core Data object into an NSDictionary with possible nil objects

    - by Chuck
I have a core data object that has a bunch of optional values. I'm pushing a table view controller and passing it a reference to the object so I can display its contents in a table view. Because I want the table view displayed a specific way, I am storing the values from the core data object into an array of dictionaries then using the array to populate the table view. This works great, and I got editing and saving working properly. (i'm not using a fetched results controller because I don't have anything to sort on) The issue with my current code is that if one of the items in the object is missing, then I end up trying to put nil into the dictionary, which won't work. I'm looking for a clean way to handle this, I could do the following, but I can't help but feeling like there's a better way. *passedEntry is the core data object handed to the view controller when it is pushed, lets say it contains firstName, lastName, and age, all optional. if ([passedEntry firstName] != nil) { [dictionary setObject:[passedEntry firstName] forKey:@"firstName"] } else { [dictionary setObject:@"" forKey:@"firstName"] } And so on. This works, but it feels kludgy, especially if I end up adding more items to the core data object down the road.

  • Why are all my masked views unmasked in my view snapshot?

    - by mystify
I'm taking a snapshot of an view. This view has got some subviews which have layer masks applied to them. For some reason, those masks take no effect in the snapshot and the masked parts are completely visible. UIGraphicsBeginImageContext(theView.frame.size); [theView.layer renderInContext:UIGraphicsGetCurrentContext()]; UIImage *newImage = UIGraphicsGetImageFromCurrentImageContext(); UIGraphicsEndImageContext(); I assume this is a bug in the framework. But maybe it's not? Did I do anything wrong here?

  • cellForRowAtIndexPath called too late

    - by Mihai Fonoage
Hi, I am trying to re-load a table every time some data I get from the web is available. This is what I have: SearchDataViewController: - (void)parseDatatXML { parsingDelegate = [[XMLParsingDelegate alloc] init]; parsingDelegate.searchDataController = self; // CONTAINS THE TABLE THAT NEEDS RE-LOADING; ImplementedSearchViewController *searchController = [[ImplementedSearchViewController alloc] initWithNibName:@"ImplementedSearchView" bundle:nil]; ProjectAppDelegate *delegate = [[UIApplication sharedApplication] delegate]; UINavigationController *nav = (UINavigationController *)[delegate.splitViewController.viewControllers objectAtIndex: 0]; NSArray *viewControllers = [[NSArray alloc] initWithObjects:nav, searchController, nil]; self.splitViewController.viewControllers = viewControllers; [viewControllers release]; // PASS A REFERENCE TO THE PARSING DELEGATE SO THAT IT CAN CALL reloadData on the table parsingDelegate.searchViewController = searchController; [searchController release]; // Build the url request used to fetch data ... NSURLRequest *dataURLRequest = [NSURLRequest requestWithURL:[NSURL URLWithString:dataURL]]; parsingDelegate.feedConnection = [[[NSURLConnection alloc] initWithRequest:dataURLRequest delegate:parsingDelegate] autorelease]; } ImplementedSearchViewController: - (NSInteger)tableView:(UITableView *)tableView numberOfRowsInSection:(NSInteger)section { NSLog(@"count = %d", [keys count]); // keys IS A NSMutableArray return [self.keys count]; } - (UITableViewCell *)tableView:(UITableView *)tableView cellForRowAtIndexPath:(NSIndexPath *)indexPath { ... cell.textLabel.text = [keys objectAtIndex:row]; ... } XMLParsingDelgate: -(void) updateSearchTable:(NSArray *)array { ... [self.currentParseBatch addObject:(NSString *)[array objectAtIndex:1]]; // RELOAD TABLE [self.searchViewController.table reloadData]; } - (void)parser:(NSXMLParser *)parser didStartElement:(NSString *)elementName namespaceURI:(NSString *)namespaceURI qualifiedName:(NSString *)qualifiedName attributes:(NSDictionary *)attributeDict { if ([elementName isEqualToString:@"..."]) { self.currentParseBatch = [NSMutableArray array]; searchViewController.keys = self.currentParseBatch; ... } ... } - (void)parser:(NSXMLParser *)parser didEndElement:(NSString *)elementName namespaceURI:(NSString *)namespaceURI qualifiedName:(NSString *)qName { if ([elementName isEqualToString:@"..."]) { ... [self performSelectorOnMainThread:@selector(updateSearchTable:) withObject:array waitUntilDone:NO]; } ... } My problem is that when I debug, the calls go between reloadData and numberOfRowsInSection until the keys array is filled with the last data, time at which the cellForRowAtIndexPath gets called. I wanted the table to be updated for each element I send, one by one, instead of just in the end. Any ideas why this behavior? Thank you!

  • How to track the touch vector?

    - by mystify
I need to calculate the direction of dragging a touch, to determine if the user is dragging up the screen, or down the screen. Actually pretty simple, right? But: 1) Finger goes down, you get -touchesBegan:withEvent: called 2) Must wait until finger moves, and -touchesMoved:withEvent: gets called 3) Problem: At this point it's dangerous to tell if the user did drag up or down. My thoughts: Check the time and accumulate calculates vectors until it's secure to tell the direction of touch. Easy? No. Think about it: What if the user holds the finger down for 5 minutes on the same spot, but THEN decides to move up or down? BANG! Your code would fail, because it tried to determine the direction of touch when the finger didn't move really. Problem 2: When the finger goes down and stays at the same spot for a few seconds because the user is a bit in the wind and thinks about what to do now, you'll get a lot of -touchesMoved:withEvent: calls very likely, but with very minor changes in touch location. So my next thought: Do the accumulation in -touchesMoved:withEvent:, but only if a certain threshold of movement has been exceeded. I bet you have some better concepts in place?

  • Application Design in Interface Builder Challenge

    - by Sheehan Alam
I want to design an app that launches other sub-apps. Main View will contain 4 buttons. Clicking on each button respectively will launch the other sub-apps. Each sub-app will have a UITabBarController which has its own different views. At any point I want the user to be able to go back to the Main View from any of the sub-apps. I am not sure how to design this in IB.

  • How to stop moving the image in objective c?

    - by user1589452
I have done a coding to check whether the image crossed particular area or not, -(void)touchesMoved:(NSSet *)touches withEvent:(UIEvent *)event { CGPoint loc=[touch locationInView:self.view]; if (touch.view==img2Obj) { NSLog(@"image2"); img2Obj.center=loc; currentx1=img2Obj.frame.origin.x; currenty1=img2Obj.frame.origin.y; //NSLog(@"top left corner x and y is %.1f and %.1f",img2Obj.frame.origin.x,img2Obj.frame.origin.y); [self isImg1InPos]; }} -(void)isImg1InPos { int dx,dy; dx=currentx1-x1; dy=currenty1-y1; if (abs(dx)<5 && abs(dx)<5) { NSLog(@"Image must stop moving after this!!!"); [img2Obj setUserInteractionEnabled:FALSE]; } //NSLog(@"unsigned int is %d",abs(dx)); } I want the image to stop moving when when it passes the condition. [img2Obj setUserInteractionEnabled:FALSE]; But its not working, can anyone tell me how to solve this problem Many thanks in advance

  • Textures loaded with NSOperation are blank

    - by Omega
So I call this method: -(void)beginExecution { NSOperationQueue *queue = [NSOperationQueue new]; NSInvocationOperation *operation = [[NSInvocationOperation alloc] initWithTarget:self selector:@selector(execute) object:nil]; [queue addOperation:operation]; [operation release]; } Which triggers this: -(void)execute { [[CCSpriteFrameCache sharedSpriteFrameCache]addSpriteFramesWithFile:@"MyTexture.plist"]; loaded = YES; // This tells me whenever loading is done. } However, when I create a sprite and try to use the texture MyTexture.png, the sprite is a blank canvas. Why is that?

Hello everyone, I have one query regarding the (UITextfield and Webservice) for example When i start writing text in UITextfield. Make sure, the app does not query the server(Webservice) for each letter typed. It should wait till I make a pause and then send the request. Is this possible to when using of UITextField? Thanks in advance

  • What things must I know about OpenAL memory management?

    - by mystify
I am playing sound with OpenAL, and it seems to increase memory footprint dramatically for every little sound I play. It seems that OpenAL never frees memory itself and that playing a Source causes memory footprint to grow. I couldn't find any good resources about OpenAL memory management, but I bet I must do a lot of stuff myself. Maybe someone knows a ressource for that?

  • Manually changing keyboard orientation for a view that's on top of a camera view

    - by XKR
I'm basically trying to reproduce the core functionality of the "At Once" app. I have a camera view and another view with a text view on it. I add both views to the window. All is well so far. [window addSubview:imagePicker.view]; [window addSubview:textViewController.view]; I understand that the UIImagePickerController does not support autorotation, so I handle it manually by watching UIDeviceOrientationDidChangeNotifications and applying the necessary transforms to the textViewController.view. Now, the problem here is the keyboard. If I do nothing, it just stays in portrait mode. I can get it to rotate by adding the following code to the notification handler. [[UIApplication sharedApplication] setStatusBarOrientation:interfaceOrientation]; [textView resignFirstResponder]; [textView becomeFirstResponder]; However, the following simple test produces weird behavior. Start the app in portrait mode. Rotate the device 90 degrees clockwise. Rotate the device 90 degrees counterclockwise (back to the initial position). Rotate the device 90 degrees clockwise. After step 4, instead of the landscape-mode keyboard, the portrait-style keyboard is shown, skewed to fit in the landscape keyboard frame. Perhaps my approach is wrong from the start. I was wondering if anyone has been able to reliably make the keyboard change its orientation in response to setStatusBarOrientation.

  • Dynamically adding data to a UITableView

    - by tableview
Hey guys! I'm new to Objective C and I need a little help. I've created a UITableView in a UIViewController. I'd like to know how to populate my UITableView dynamically. The data is a bunch of labels that I've stored in a NSMutableArray. So each row displays the contents of the array. Once the array is reloaded with fresh data, the second row will then keep displaying the data as it is added to the array. Thanks in advance for any help!

  • Correct way to switch between UIView with ARC. My way leads to memory leaks :( (iOS)

    - by Andrei Golubev
i use xcode 4.4 with ARC on.. I have dynamically created UIViews in the ViewController.m: UIView*myviews[10]; Then in the - (void)viewDidLoad function i fill each of it with pictures i need myviews[viewIndex] = [[UIView alloc]initWithFrame:myrec]; UIImage *testImg; UIImageView * testImgView; testImg = [UIImage imageNamed:[NSString stringWithFormat:@"imgarray%d.png", viewIndex]; testImgView.image = testImg; viewindex++; So all seems to be fine, when i want to jump from one view to another i do with two buttons next: [self.view addSubview:views[viewIndex]]; CATransition *animation = [CATransition animation]; [animation setDelegate:self]; [animation setDuration:1.0f]; [animation setType:@"rippleEffect"]; [animation setSubtype:kCATransitionFromTop]; //[animation setTimingFunction:[CAMediaTimingFunction functionWithName:kCAMediaTimingFunctionEaseInEaseOut]]; [self.view.layer addAnimation:animation forKey:@"transitionViewAnimation"]; Nothing seems to be bad, but the memory consumption grows with huge speed when i switch between views.. and then i get low memory warning or sometimes application will just crash. I have tried to use UIViewController array and was switching between the controllers: nothing changes, the memory low warning is what i end up with.. Maybe i need to clean the memory somehow? But how? ARC does not allow to use release and so on.. last what i have tried (sorry, maybe not very professional) before to add new subview is this NSArray *viewsToRemove = [self.view subviews]; for (UIView *views in viewsToRemove) { [views removeFromSuperview]; } But this does not help either.. Please don't judge too strong, i am still new to iOS and Objective-c..

  • First and last UITableViewCell keep changing while scrolling.

    - by W Dyson
    I have a tableView with cells containing one UITextField as a subview for each cell. My problem is that when I scroll down, the text in the first cell is duplicated in the last cell. I can't for the life if me figure out why. I have tried loading the cells from different nibs, having the textFields as ivars. The UITextFields don't seem to be the problem, I'm thinking it has something to do with the tableView reusing the cells. The textFields all have a data source that keeps track of the text within the textField and the text is reset each time the cell is shown. Any ideas? UPDATE: Thanks guys, here's a sample: - (UITableViewCell *)tableView:(UITableView *)tableView cellForRowAtIndexPath:(NSIndexPath *)indexPath { NSLog(@"Section %i, Row %i", indexPath.section, indexPath.row); static NSString *JournalCellIdentifier = @"JournalCellIdentifier"; UITableViewCell *cell = (UITableViewCell *)[self.tableView dequeueReusableCellWithIdentifier:JournalCellIdentifier]; if (cell == nil) { cell = [[[UITableViewCell alloc] initWithStyle:UITableViewCellStyleDefault reuseIdentifier:JournalCellIdentifier] autorelease]; cell.selectionStyle = UITableViewCellSelectionStyleNone; cell.accessoryType = UITableViewCellAccessoryNone; } if (indexPath.section == 0) { UITextField *textField = (UITextField *)[self.authorCell viewWithTag:1]; [cell addSubview:textField]; self.authorTextField = textField; self.authorTextField.text = [self.textFieldDictionary objectForKey:@"author"]; NSLog(@"Reading Author:%@", [self.textFieldDictionary objectForKey:@"author"]); } else if (indexPath.section == 1) { UITextField *textField = (UITextField *)[self.yearCell viewWithTag:1]; [cell addSubview:textField]; self.yearTextField = textField; self.yearTextField.text = [self.textFieldDictionary objectForKey:@"year"]; NSLog(@"Reading Year:%@", [self.textFieldDictionary objectForKey:@"year"]); } else if (indexPath.section == 2) { UITextField *textField = (UITextField *)[self.volumeCell viewWithTag:1]; [cell addSubview:textField]; self.volumeTextField = textField; self.volumeTextField.text = [self.textFieldDictionary objectForKey:@"volume"]; NSLog(@"Reading Volume:%@", [self.textFieldDictionary objectForKey:@"volume"]); } return cell; }

  • Rendering a CGPDFPage into a UIImage

    - by James Antrobus
I'm trying to render a CGPDFPage (selected from a CGPDFDocument) into a UIImage to display on a view. I have the following code in MonoTouch which gets me part way there. RectangleF PDFRectangle = new RectangleF(0, 0, UIScreen.MainScreen.Bounds.Width, UIScreen.MainScreen.Bounds.Height); public override void ViewDidLoad () { UIGraphics.BeginImageContext(new SizeF(PDFRectangle.Width, PDFRectangle.Height)); CGContext context = UIGraphics.GetCurrentContext(); context.SaveState(); CGPDFDocument pdfDoc = CGPDFDocument.FromFile("test.pdf"); CGPDFPage pdfPage = pdfDoc.GetPage(1); context.DrawPDFPage(pdfPage); UIImage testImage = UIGraphics.GetImageFromCurrentImageContext(); pdfDoc.Dispose(); context.RestoreState(); UIImageView imageView = new UIImageView(testImage); UIGraphics.EndImageContext(); View.AddSubview(imageView); } A section of the CGPDFPage is displayed but rotated back-to-front and upside down. My question is, how do I select the full pdf page and flip it round to display correctly. I have seen a few examples using ScaleCTM and TranslateCTM but couldn't seem to get them working. Any examples in ObjectiveC are fine, I'll take all the help I can get :) Thanks

  • how to capture the clicked url on UIWebView

    - by user262325
Hello everyone I hope to capture the clicked url on an UIWebView - (BOOL)webView:(UIWebView *)webView shouldStartLoadWithRequest:(NSURLRequest *)request navigationType:(UIWebViewNavigationType)navigationType { if (navigationType == UIWebViewNavigationTypeLinkClicked) { NSURL *URL = [request URL]; NSString *s=[URL absoluteString]; } but I noticed that this URL is not the url which is clicked and will be displayed on UIWebView, normally it is the url of current web page display on UIWebView. Welcome any comment Thanks interdev
