  • MVVM Prism Nested Regions Can't Find Child Regions

    I have a Menu (Telerik RadMenu) that has nested regions defined in the Shell. In my modules I will register the modules menu or toolbar items with these regions. Everything works fine for the root regions, but when I try and add something to a child region, such as the File region on the Menu, I get the error "The exception message was: The region manager does not contain the FileMenuRegion region." However like I said if I change this code regionManager.Regions[RegionNames.FileMenuRegion].Add(menuItem); to this regionManager.Regions[RegionNames.MainMenuRegion].Add(menuItem); everything works fine. Below is the XAML for my menu so you can see the region names and how they are constructed. Any help would greatly be appreciated as this is bewildering and driving me crazy.   • WPF: TreeViewItem bound to an ICommand

    Hi All, I am busy creating my first MVVM application in WPF. Basically the problem I am having is that I have a TreeView (System.Windows.Controls.TreeView) which I have placed on my WPF Window, I have decide that I will bind to a ReadOnlyCollection of CommandViewModel items, and these items consist of a DisplayString, Tag and a RelayCommand. Now in the XAML, I have my TreeView and I have successfully bound my ReadOnlyCollection to this. I can view this and everything looks fine in the UI. The issue now is that I need to bind the RelayCommand to the Command of the TreeViewItem, however from what I can see the TreeViewItem doesn't have a Command. Does this force me to do it in the IsSelected property or even in the Code behind TreeView_SelectedItemChanged method or is there a way to do this magically in WPF?   • HttpWebRequest sessionID c# login

    Im trying to login to a website (www.vodafone.ie) with a console app and c# httpWebRequest. Problem is it works ok about 50% of the time. Im using fiddler to find out the GET and POST requests I need to make. Done that and my app is successfully recreating these as best as I can see. The steps are; 1) GET request with cookie container to login uri. server response sets new cookie called jsessionID 2) do POST request with login credentials and same cookie container containing previous jsessionID. Looking at the fiddler logs for successful POST request login (browser or my app) I see it sets a thing in the response header : "Set-cookie: supercookie=-; Expires=Thu, 01-Jan-1970 00:00:10 GMT; Path=". What is this supercookie thing? Its not returned to me in the response cookie collection like the jsessionID. On rare occasions, there is along string of numbers with the supercookie instead of just "-". I made sure to clear all cookies before analyzing the request/response headers. If the super cookie thing is not being set in the reponse my login fails. So just wondering what's going on here? cheers!

  • How do I deploy building blocks (quick parts) for Microsoft Outlook 2007?

    I want to deploy some building blocks for Microsoft Outlook 2007. Microsoft has put up a poor solution at http://office.microsoft.com/en-us/outlook/HA102086531033.aspx#4 that asks you to save a template. That solution would require you to distribute that template to all the clients. An optimal solution would allow you to put the template containing the building blocks somewhere on the network and simply use the ”Workgroup building blocks path” group policy setting for shared paths in Microsoft Office 2007. Sadly, Outlook doesn’t respect that policy. Also, the described solution mentioned in the article above doesn’t work. Step 4 requests you to save the template as a Word Template after first asking you to save it as an Outlook Template. It seems that they copy&pasted the steps from the Word article and forgot to check whether it worked (and adjust the steps accordingly). Anyway, does anyone have any suggestions for how to distribute the building blocks without distributing NormalEmail.dotm (which will overwrite the clients’ own building blocks each time it is updated).   • Why can't I resolve ambiguity with Android.OS.Environment?

    I'm trying to use Environment.(...) in my Xamarin app. It complains that "Environment is an ambiguous reference between System.Environment and Android.OS.Environment" I can fix it by using the fully qualified name System.Environment.(...) but not with Android.OS.Environment.(...). For example: // Obviously ambiguous with error above using System; using Android.OS; // ... // OnCreate uses Bundle also in Android.OS //... string path = Environment.GetFolderPath(Environment.SpecialFolder.Personal); // Can be fixed by prefixing Environment with "System." But I can't fix it with any variation of possibilities using Android.OS including removing it and explicitly using it.   • Issues integrating NCover with CC.NET, .NET framework 4.0 and MsTest

    I'm implementing continuous integration with CruiseControl.NET, .NET 4.0, NCover and MsTest. On the build server I'm unable to run code coverage from the Ncover explorer or NCover console. When I run where vstesthost.exe from the Ncover console it returns the Visual Studio 9.0 path and does not seem to pick up .net framework 4.0. I've followed instructions from this MSTest: Measuring Test Quality With NCover post with slight modifications for .net framework 4.0, without any success.     I apologize if this question is slightly subjective... I am trying to figure out the best way to test Rails 3 Engines with Cucumber & Rspec. In order to test the engine a rails 3 app is necessary. Here is what I am currently doing: Add a rails test app to the root of the gem (myengine) by running: rails new /myengine/rails_app Add Cucumber to /myengine/rails_app/features as you would in a normal Rails app Require the Rails Engine Gem (using :path=>"/myengine") in /myengine/rails_app/Gemfile Add spec to the root directory of the gem: /myengine/spec Include the fixtures in /myengine/spec/fixtures and I add the following to my cuc env.rb: env.rb: Fixtures.reset_cache fixtures_folder = File.join(Rails.root, 'spec', 'fixtures') fixtures = Dir[File.join(fixtures_folder, '*.yml')].map {|f| File.basename(f, '.yml') } Fixtures.create_fixtures(fixtures_folder, fixtures) Do you see any problems with setting it up like this? The tests run fine, but I am a bit hesitant to put the features inside the test rails app. I originally tried putting the features in the root of the gem and I created the test rails app inside features/support, but for some reason my engine would not initialize when I ran the tests, even though I could see the app loading everything else when cuc ran. If anyone is working with Rails Engines and is using cuc and rspec for testing, I would be interested to hear your setup.

  • Listview of items from a object selected in another listview

    Ok the title maybe a little confusing. I have a database with the table Companies wich has one-to-many relotionship with another table Divisions ( so each company can have many divisions ) and division will have many employees. I have a ListView of the companies. What I wan't is that when I choose a company from the ListView another ListView of divisions within that company appears below it. Then I pick a division and another listview of employees within that division appaers below that. You get the picture. Is there anyway to do this mostly inside the XAML code declaritively (sp?). I'm using linq so the Company entity objects have a property named Division wich if I understand linq correctly should include Division objects of the divisions connected to the company. So after getting all the companies and putting them as a itemsource to CompanyListView this is where I currently am. <ListView x:Name="CompanyListView" DisplayMemberPath="CompanyName" Grid.Row="0" Grid.Column="0" /> <ListView DataContext="{Binding ElementName=CompanyListView, Path=SelectedItem}" DisplayMemberPath="Division.DivisionName" Grid.Row="1" Grid.Column="0" /> I know I'm way off but I was hoping by putting something specific in the DataContext and DisplayMemberPath I could get this to work. If not then I have to capture the Id of the company I guess and capture a select event or something. Another issue but related is the in the seconde column besides the lisview I wan't to have a details/edit view for the selected item. So when only a company is selected details about that will appear then when a division under the company is picked It will go there instead, any ideas?

  • WCF timeouts are a nightmare

    We have a bunch of WCF services that work almost all of the time, using various bindings, ports, max sizes, etc. The super-frustrating thing about WCF is that when it (rarely) fails, we are powerless to find out why it failed. Sometimes you will get a message that looks like this: System.ServiceModel.CommunicationException: The socket connection was aborted. This could be caused by an error processing your message or a receive timeout being exceeded by the remote host, or an underlying network resource issue. Local socket timeout was '01:00:00'. --- System.IO.IOException: Unable to read data from the transport connection: An existing connection was forcibly closed by the remote host. The problem is that the local socket timeout it's giving you is merely an attempt to be convenient. It may or may not be the cause of the problem. But OK, sometimes networks have issues. No big deal. We can retry or something. But here's the huge problem. On top of failing to tell you which precisely which timeout (if any) resulted in the failure ("your server-side receive timeout was exceeded," or something, would be helpful), WCF seems to have two types of timeouts. Timeout Type #1) A timeout, that, if increased, would increase the chance of your operation's success. So, the pertinent timeout is an hour, you are uploading a huge file that will take an hour and twenty minutes. It fails. You increase the timeout, it succeeds. I have no no problem with this type of timeout. Timeout Type #2) A timeout which merely defines how long you have to wait for the service to actually fail and give you an error, but modifying the value of this timeout has no impact on the chance of success. Basically, something happens during the first second of the service request which mucks things up. It will never recover. WCF doesn't magically retry the network connection for you. Fine, sometimes establishing a network connection doesn't go well. But, if your timeout is 2 hours, you have to wait 2 whole hours with no chance of it ever working before it finally acknowledges that it didn't work and gives you the error. But the error you see in both cases looks the same. With timeout Type #2, it still looks like you are running into a timeout. But, you could increase all of your timeouts to 4 years, and all it would do is make it take 4 years to get an error message. I know that Type #2 exists because I can do an operation that is known to complete in less than a minute when successful, and have it take 2 hours to fail. But, if I kill it and retry, it succeeds quickly. (If you are wondering why there might be a 2 hour timeout on an operation that takes less than a minute, there are times I run the operation with a much larger file and it could take over an hour.) So, to combat the problem with Type #2, you'd want your timeout to be really quick so you immediately know if there is a problem. Then you can retry. But the insurmountable problem is that because I don't know which timeouts are the cause of failure, I don't know what timeouts are Type #1 and which ones are Type #2. There may be one timeout (let's say the client-side send timeout) that acts like Type #1 in some cases and Type #2 in others. I have no idea, and I have no way of finding out. Does anyone know how to track down Type #2 timeouts so I can set them to low values without having to shorten actual (read: Type #1) timeouts and lower the chance of success? Thank you.

    Im getting this linker error that won't let me compile. It only happens on the simulator. KEY POINTS: - Happens only in simulator - Similar to THIS question, but found no FRAMEWORK_SEARCH_PATHS in my .pbxproj file - Though my OS is 10.6.2, I had to build target 1.5 to avoid other linker errors - libxml2.dylib IS required and is in my Frameworks group - The other cited libraries I have never heard of. - Tried bringing in those other Libs under frameworks, didn't solve.   • Visual Studio 2008 SignTool.exe not found

    I can't publish in 2008, I was previously using 2005 and it published just fine. Error 2 An error occurred while signing: SignTool.exe not found. I know there are tons of hits for a search on signtool.exe on google. The ones I've found involve copying the file to X,Y,Z locations and ensuring signtool matches up with your VS command prompt path. When I run my start- program files - visual studio 2008 - Visual Studio Tools - Visual Studio Command prompt. and type signtool.exe it finds the file just fine. I have Visual Studio 2005 professional edition, Visual studio 2008 profession edition, Visual studio 2005 SDK February 2007, just installed Visial Studio 2008 SDK1.1 to see if that would fix it, no luck. I have copied signtool.exe to lots of places that were suggested on the google searches, it is now located at all of the following: C:\Program Files\Visual Studio 2005 SDK\2007.02 C:\Program Files\Microsoft Visual Studio 9.0\Common7\Tools C:\Program Files\Microsoft Visual Studio 9.0\VB\Bin C:\WINNT\Microsoft.NET\Framework\v3.5 C:\Program Files\Microsoft SDKs\Windows\v6.0A\Bin C:\Program Files\Microsoft Visual Studio 8\Common7\Tools\Bin C:\Program Files\Microsoft Visual Studio 8\SDK\v2.0\Bin C:\Program Files\Microsoft Visual Studio 9.0\SDK\v3.5\Bin C:\Program Files\Microsoft Visual Studio 9.0\VB\Bin\1033 C:\Program Files\Visual Studio 2005 SDK\2007.02\VisualStudioIntegration\Tools\Bin I'm on windows XP 2009-06-12 update I can only publish if I copy signtool.exe to the project folder I'm publishing now.

    I thought I'd share my experiences here. I work for a small business with only ~20 users. I wanted the ability to use managed client preferences to assign things like the software update server. Basically the ability to manage my Macs easily and in a native way. At first I tried the magic triangle solution, but I found this to be very complicated. Not only does it require a Mac OS X Server, but it gives you two points of failure. Additionally each Mac workstation must be bound to both servers. Eventually I sucked it up and went with the schema changes documented here. I was hesitant at first, because the instructions require a lot of manual work. However it was fairly basic and only took me about an hour and a half. Below you'll find the schema changes file that was a result of my work. I followed the instructions exactly and double checked everything, after six months of having this in place things have been running great. Too good to not share.     Hi, As part of our application we are using apache's xerces jaxp parser. When we deploy the application on weblogic9.2, we are getting the following error. org.springframework.beans.factory.BeanCreationException: Error creating bean with name 'org.apache.cxf.wsdl.WSDLManager' defined in class path resource [META-INF/cxf/cxf.xml]: Instantiation of bean failed; nested exception is org.springframework.beans.BeanInstantiationException: Could not instantiate bean class [org.apache.cxf.wsdl11.WSDLManagerImpl]: Constructor threw exception; nested exception is java.lang.ClassCastException: org.apache.xerces.jaxp.DocumentBuilderFactoryImpl As per our analysis, i)The weblogic is trying to to load its own DocumentBuilderFactoryImpl which is present in weblogic.jar instead of apache's xerces. We tried the following to force the weblogic to load DocumentBuilderFactoryImpl from xerces i)we have added the following tag into weblogic.xml true ii)we have put latest versions of xalan in jre/lib/endorced folder. this didnt resolve our problem. ii) we have added entries in weblogic-application.xml webapp.encoding.default UTF-8 javax.jws. org.apache.xerces. org.apache.xerces.jaxp.* ii)Added the following entry in weblogic-application.xml <parser-factory> <saxparser-factory>org.apache.xerces.jaxp.SAXParserFactoryImpl</saxparser-factory> <document-builder-factory>org.apache.xerces.jaxp.DocumentBuilderFactoryImpl </document-builder-factory> org.apache.xalan.processor.TransformerFactoryImpl iii)Added jaxp.properties to load DocumentBuilderFactoryImpl from xerces to the jre/lib and started the server.In this case, the weblogic didnt start. iv)Then we started the server first and then copied the jaxp.properties file during the run time when server starts.But no success None of the above worked for us.     In ASP.NET, is it possible to set a path from a web.config in a subdir that is not setup as a virtual directory? In other words, can I reference a private assembly in the ~/subdir/bin folder? Take a look at my setup below, and let me know if I'm doing something wrong, please. Let me explain why I'm doing this: my page is setup in ~/subdir. I don't have write access to the root.   • VS 2010 debugger not loading symbols when attaching to NUnit

    (I just posted this in the NUnit discussion group on groups.google.com) Under VS 2008, I would run my tests under NUnit, and, if I needed to debug, I would attach the VS2008 debugger to the running Nunit process (Debug - Attach to Process), and set any breakpoints on code I wanted to examine. When I hit the Run buttion in NUnit, it would hit the breakpoint. (BTW, if it matters, this was running NUnit 2.5.2). I just upgraded to NUnit 2.5.4 and VS 2010. When I set a breakpoint, then attach to NUnit, I get a little warning symbol on the breakpoint dot, and hovering over it gives the tooltip "Breakpoint will not be hit. No symbols are currently loaded". Going to the Debug - Windows - Modules window shows a whole bunch of Windows and NUnit modules loaded, with the Symbol Status of "Skipped loading symbols", and then 1 module with a funny name that changes each time (r1euhmh5 right now), and Symbol Status of "No symbols loaded". (There is no trace of a module with a name remotely like my DLL under test). Right clicking the funny filename (assuming that to be some mapping from my DLL under test), and clicking Load Symbols From - Symbol Path, and navigating to the bin\debug folder, then clicking the pdb file of my DLL under test, I get the message "A matching symbol was not found in this folder". (The top of the Open dialog box has a line that says "Original location: r1euhmh5.pdb") So what's changed? And how do I go about debugging/breakpointing under VS 2010/NUnit 2.5.4 (Or is it possible I screwed something up when I decided to go through my VS2010 options and set some of them to more advanced levels than I knew what I was doing?) I appreciate any help.

  • Sitecore not resolving rich text editor URLS in page renders

    Hi We're having issues inserting links into rich text in Sitecore 6.1.0. When a link to a sitecore item is inserted, it is outputted as: http://domain/~/link.aspx?_id=8A035DC067A64E2CBBE2662F6DB53BC5&_z=z Rather than the actual resolved url: http://domain/path/to/page.aspx This article confirms that this should be resolved in the render pipeline: in Sitecore 6 it inserts a specially formatted link that contains the Guid of the item you want to link to, then when the item is rendered the special link is replaced with the actual link to the item The pipeline has the method ShortenLinks added in web.config <convertToRuntimeHtml> <processor type="Sitecore.Pipelines.ConvertToRuntimeHtml.PrepareHtml, Sitecore.Kernel"/> <processor type="Sitecore.Pipelines.ConvertToRuntimeHtml.ShortenLinks, Sitecore.Kernel"/> <processor type="Sitecore.Pipelines.ConvertToRuntimeHtml.SetImageSizes, Sitecore.Kernel"/> <processor type="Sitecore.Pipelines.ConvertToRuntimeHtml.ConvertWebControls, Sitecore.Kernel"/> <processor type="Sitecore.Pipelines.ConvertToRuntimeHtml.FixBullets, Sitecore.Kernel"/> <processor type="Sitecore.Pipelines.ConvertToRuntimeHtml.FinalizeHtml, Sitecore.Kernel"/> </convertToRuntimeHtml> So I really can't see why links are still rendering in ID format rather than as full SEO-tastic urls.     With the SetupAPI.DLL I execute Function SetupDiGetClassDevs and get a pointer or handle Then Begin a loop Then I run Return = Function SetupDiEnumDeviceInterfaces with SP_DEVICE_INTERFACE_DATA.cbSize = 0 to get my size of what SP_DEVICE_INTERFACE_DATA needs to be Then I set size and execute again SP_DEVICE_INTERFACE_DATA.cbSize = return (the size) Function SetupDiEnumDeviceInterfaces From the data structures I get DevicePath from SP_DEVINFO_DATA And a heap of information from the registry if I want it I beleave What I’m realy wanting is to access the HID.DLL and call HidD_GetAttributes to get VendorID, ProductID, and VersionNumber To this Enumerated device, so I can ID the device. I expect this particular info would come from the USB device its self. Can any one show me how to do that. By the way in my version of windows XP I’m using the registry path, I cannot find HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Enum\HID...\Class I do not even get HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Enum\ I think this is because I have not executed the SetupDiEnumDeviceInterfaces Function Why? I find Lake View Research the only data that is in complete And does not cover this subject. Why is it all over the net when its junk???????? Thanks in advance, J Lex Dean.

  • Location of Java dump heap file?

    Well this is embarrassing ... I'm starting to play with the Eclipse Memory Analyzer to look for Java memory leaks on a Windows box. Step 1 is to obtain a heap dump file. To do this< I start my Java (javaw.exe) process from within Eclipse and connect to it with jconsole. Then on the jconsole MBeans tab I click the dumpHeap button. The first time I did this, I saw a pop-up saying it had created the heap dump file, but not giving its name or location. Now whenever I do a dumpHeap again while connected to a different javaw.exe process, jconsole says: Problem invoking dumpHeap : java.io.IOException: File exists and of course doesn't give its name or path. Where could it be? I've searched my C: drive (using cygwin command line tools) for files containing "hprof" or "java_pid" or "heapdump" and didn't find anything plausible. I've even used the Windows search to look for all files in my Eclipse workspace that have changed in the last day. I'm using the Sun Java 1.6 JVM, and don't have -XX:HeapDumpPath set.

  • AWS Amazon EC2 - password-less SSH login for non-root users using PEM keypairs

    We've got a couple of clusters running on AWS (HAProxy/Solr, PGPool/PostgreSQL) and we've setup scripts to allow new slave instances to be auto-included into the clusters by updating their IPs to config files held on S3, then SSHing to the master instance to kick them to download the revised config and restart the service. It's all working nicely, but in testing we're using our master pem for SSH which means it needs to be stored on an instance. Not good. I want a non-root user that can use an AWS keypair who will have sudo access to run the download-config-and-restart scripts, but nothing else. rbash seems to be the way to go, but I understand this can be insecure unless setup correctly. So what security holes are there in this approach: New AWS keypair created for user.pem (not really called 'user') New user on instances: user Public key for user is in ~user/.ssh/authorized_keys (taken by creating new instance with user.pem, and copying it from /root/.ssh/authorized_keys) Private key for user is in ~user/.ssh/user.pem 'user' has login shell of /home/user/bin/rbash ~user/bin/ contains symbolic links to /bin/rbash and /usr/bin/sudo /etc/sudoers has entry "user ALL=(root) NOPASSWD: ~user/.bashrc sets PATH to /home/user/bin/ only ~user/.inputrc has 'set disable-completion on' to prevent double tabbing from 'sudo /' to find paths. ~user/ -R is owned by root with read-only access to user, except for ~user/.ssh which has write access for user (for writing known_hosts), and ~user/bin/* which are +x Inter-instance communication uses 'ssh -o StrictHostKeyChecking=no -i ~user/.ssh/user.pem user@ sudo ' Any thoughts would be welcome.
