• Getting all pdf files from a domain (for example *.adomain.com)

  I need to download all pdf files from a certain domain. There are about 6000 pdf on that domain and most of them don't have an html link (either they have removed the link or they never put one in the first place). I know there are about 6000 files because I'm googling: filetype:pdf site:*.adomain.com However, Google lists only the first 1000 results. I believe there are two ways to achieve this: a) Use Google. However, how I can get all 6000 results from Google? Maybe a scraper? (tried scroogle, no luck) b) Skip Google and search directly on domain for pdf files. How do I do that when most them are not linked?

  I notice that some programs (e.g. sqlite, mysql client) provide a command-line prompt that is very similar in capabilities to the bash's, including: line editing with left and right arrows, delete, insert, ^K, etc. history browsing with up and down arrows ^R for reverse i-search in command history which make me think that they are using the same toolset for this. I'd like to create a prompt with similar capabilities in my program, which tools can I use? I prefer it to have the same functionality as in bash, so that the users would be familiar with it.

  What languages other than C and C++ have explicit reference and pointer type qualifiers? People seem to be easily confused by the right-to-left reading order of types, where char*& is "a reference to a pointer to a character", or a "character-pointer reference"; do any languages with explicit references make use of a left-to-right reading order, such as &*char/ref ptr char? I'm working on a little language project, and legibility is one of my key concerns. It seems to me that this is one of those questions to which it's easy for a person but hard for a search engine to provide an answer. Thanks in advance!

• wordpress path url in js script file

  I added custom script wp_enqueue_script('functions', get_bloginfo('template_url') . '/js/functions.js', 'search', null, false); works great, except in the functions.js i have Reset.style.background = "url('../images/searchfield_clear.png') no-repeat top left"; now this used to work before, until changed to pretty permalinks and .htaccess the folder hierarchy is like: themename/js themename/images (the images and js folder are in themename folder) i tried ../images - ./image - /images normally it should go back 1 level where-ever the js file is located.... i dont want to use full path is there a other way that wordpress can recognize in the javascript file to have the correct path? currently i am just confused what i am doing wrong

• SQL Server 2008 + expensive union all

  Hi al, we have 5 tables over which we should query with user search input throughout a stored procedure. We do a union all of the similar data inside a view. Because of this the view can not be materialized. We are not able to change these 5 tables drastically (like creating a 6th table that contains the similar data of the 5 tables and reference that new one from the 5 tables). The query is rather expensive / slow what are our other options? It's allowed to think outside the box.   I've been trying for weeks, literally, to rename these URLs and also ensure the old one is 301 redirected to the new one: www.example.com/?mod=11&p=215 - www.example.com/clean-url-section www.example.com/?mod=96&tab=6 - www.example.com/clean-url-section-2 Does anyone have any idea why I am having no luck, I got 500 server errors or nothing at all! Is it because of the question marks and characters? I'd be grateful for any help.   We're implementing a blog for a site which supports six different languages and five of them have non-Latin characters in their alphabets. We are not sure whether we should have them encoded (that is what we're doing at the moment) Létání s potravinami: Co je dovoleno? becomes l%c3%a9t%c3%a1n%c3%ad-s-potravinami-co-je-dovoleno and the browser displays it as létání-s-potravinami-co-je-dovoleno. or if we should replace them with their Latin "counterparts" (similar looking letters) Létání s potravinami: Co je dovoleno? becomes letani-s-potravinami-co-je-dovoleno. I can't find a definitive answer as to what's better from SEO perspective? Search engine optimization is very important for us. Which approach would you suggest?

  I have design a database. Theres no columns with indexing, nor any code for optimizing. I am positive i should index certain columns since i search them a lot. My question is HOW do i test if any part of my database will be slow? ATM I am using sqlite and i will be switching to either MS Sql or MySql based on my host provider. Will creating 100,000 records in each table be enough? Or will that always be fast in sqlite and i need to do 1mil? Do i need 10mil before a database will become slow? Also how do i time it? I am using C# so should i use StopWatch or is there a ADO.NET/Sqlite function i should use?

  Hello! I am looking for a way to perform fulltext search on the DOM tree with JS. In two words, I would like to retrieve the list of text nodes which contain a given string. I've tried mootools' Element.getElements ( ':contains[string]' ) but I can't get it to work with strings containing whitespace. I'm thinking about simply indexing all text nodes and checking against each node for the string being searched for, but, in my project, there's no way of telling when the DOM updates in order to maintain such an index up-to-date.   I have got a working C# code for accessing OWA mails using WebDAV against a FBA enabled exchange 2003 (http://support.microsoft.com/kb/891748/en-us/) But my client's OWA (exchange 2003) has Basic authentication and SSL (i-e when I try to access the web mail link through browser I get a grey login box instead of a web page I can log into the mail box once I enter the correct details) But my same fails with a 401 error against this mailbox. I got the simple request working for the Basic authentication using – String usernamePassword = strUserName + ":" + strPassword; WebReq.Headers.Add("Authorization", "Basic " + Convert.ToBase64String(new ASCIIEncoding().GetBytes(usernamePassword))); But the subsequent WebDAV SEARCH request fails with 404 (resource not found) error. Can we use WebDAV against an exchange 2k3 with SSL and Basic authentication?

I can manage the gui, but I've never been taught how to actually issue command line commands. I know with bash its just apt-get install firefox for example, but how do I do such a thing with C? i.e. on click, the program runs 'apt-get install The other problem is I'm not familiar with the proper name for this interaction, so it is hard to search. • Where to install shared DLLs on Windows

  I have a driver which can be installed on Windows (XP/Vista/7). It's accessed via a DLL that applications link to, and which is also a Winsock Provider (WSP). It used to be installed under System32, but having seen advice not to, I changed it to install under ProgramFiles instead. Now, the problem is that people are having to either copy it back into System32 or copy it into the application directory whenever they want to use it in their own applications, because Windows won't search the install directory under ProgramFiles when the application tries to load the DLL. I've been unable to find any Microsoft documentation discussing this issue, so if System32 shouldn't be used then where should shared DLLs be installed?

  I'm talking about the performance increase here. From all I know you can echo variables in double quotes ("), like so: <?php echo "You are $yourAge years old"; ?> But single quotes will just return You are $yourAge years old. But what about performance differences? I've always gone by the rule that single quotes are faster because the PHP interpreter doesn't have to search through the string for variables. But I'm seeing more and more blog and forum posts on the web saying differently. Does anyone actually have any information on this subject? Perhaps benchmark tests or something? Cheers.

  Hello all, I am looking to do something really simple. Merely convert a string, such as 'december' into something I can use with MySQL (such as '12'). At the moment I use a dict, month_map = { 'december': '12', 'november': '11', 'october': '10', 'september': '09', 'august': '08', 'july': '07', 'june': '06', 'may': '05', 'april': '04', 'march': '03', 'february': '02', 'january': '01' } and then month_map.get('december').   Usually when looking for some items not showing up in the other table, we can use: select * from gifts where giftID not in (select giftID from sentgifts); or select * from gifts where giftID not in (select distinct giftID from sentgifts); the second line is with "distinct" added, so that the resulting table is smaller, and probably let the search for "not in" faster too. So, won't using "distinct" be desirable? Often than not, I don't see it being used in the subquery in such a case. Is there advantage or disadvantage of using it? thanks.

  Hello, I would like to start developing mobile-friendly versions of websites for my clients, however, I am baffled with options and google search wasn't very helpful - there is so many options and opinions, I've been reading for few days now and still have no idea how to start. What's your opinion/experience about/with it? My main points: mobile devices supported (in order of relevance): iPhone 3G, iPhone 2G, Blackberry, Droid powered mobiles, other phone friendly numbers, phone friendly emails contact/register form working on each (or the most possible) devices listed jQTouch seems superb (simple, quick, working), I'm not sure about it on blackberry/droid and I don't want to create 6 web versions for each mobile device - Makes even less sense if you consider, that I'm starting with small web (6-10 pages, 1 contact form, 3 register forms) to play with. It also shows me the number of my PDF downloads, but it considers only those downloads where a user clicks on the link from my website. But what's with the "external" access to the PDFs (e.g., directly from Google search)? How I can count those? Is there any possibility to use a tool such as StatCounter? Thanks.
