  I have a Select Left Join Query whis displays me the rows for the latest changedone(its a time) column name ("field" should not be equal) column name ("trackid" should not be equal), and column name "Operation should be "UPDATE" ", below is the query I am talking about... SELECT j1. * FROM jos_audittrail j1 LEFT OUTER JOIN jos_audittrail j2 ON ( j1.trackid != j2.trackid AND j1.field != j2.field AND j1.changedone < j2.changedone ) WHERE j1.operation = 'UPDATE' AND j2.id IS NULL Now here I don't want a row to be displayed with a two particular column's value i.e. "field's value" the value is "LastvisitDate" and "hits" Now if if append the condition in the above query that " AND j1.field != 'lastvistDate' AND j1.field != 'hits' " theni do not get any result... The table structure is jos_audittrail: id trackid operation oldvalue newvalue table_name live changedone(its a time) I hope i have given the details properly If u still find something missing I will try to provide it more better way... • [SQL] Query returning more than one row with the same name

  I am having trouble with an SQL query returning more than one row with the same name, using this query: SELECT * FROM People P JOIN SpecialityCombo C ON P.PERSONID = C.PERSONID JOIN Speciality S ON C.GROUPID = S.ID; People contains information on each person, Specialty contains the names and ID of each specialty and SpecialityCombo contains information about the associations between People and their Speciality, namely each row has a PERSONID and a Speciality ID (trying to keep it normalised to some extent). My query works in that it returns each Person and the name of their specialty, but it returns n rows for the number of specialitys they want, because each specialty returns the same row 'name'. What I want is it to return just one row containing each speciality. How can I do this?

• Storing Values in colunms alphabetic?

  Is there any benefit to storing content alphabetic in columns? Maybe make lookups faster? If yes then when i add new lookup values to my tables do i need to rebuild the PK for the looup values to fit in the new text? Say a table like this: City_tbl city_id: example: 1120 City_name: example: New York. If I need to add Chicago to it, do i add it at the bottom of the list with the next ID which may be 2000 or do i inset it after the city in alphabetic order which would mean I need to update the PK Id of all following IDs by 1. Only benefit I know about is when I have to manually add lookup values without quering the database I can quickly check the lookup value list for exiting items with ease. But not sure if it may make lookups faster or something if the system knows the text is in aplhabetic order.

• How do I declare a C# Web User Control but stop it from initializing?

  I have a C#/ASP.NET .aspx page that declares two controls that each represents the content of one tab. I want a query string argument (e.g., ?tab=1) to determine which of the two controls is activated. My problem is, they both go through the initialization events and populate their child controls, wasting CPU resources and slowing the response time. Is it possible to deactivate them somehow so they don't go through any initialization? My .aspx page looks like this: <% if (TabId == 0) { %> <my:usercontroltabone id="ctrl1" runat="server" /> <% } else if (TabId == 1) { %> <my:usercontroltabtwo id="ctrl2" runat="server" /> <% } %> And that part works fine.   A company is hired by another company for helping in a certain field. So I created the following tables: Companies: id, company name, company address Administrators: (in relation with companies) id, company_id, username, email, password, fullname Then, each company has some workers in it, I store data about workers. Hence, workers has a profession, Agreement Type signed and some other common things. Now, the parent tables and data in it for workers (Agreement Types, Professions, Other Common Things) are going to be the same for each company. Should I create 1 new database for each company? Or store All data into the same database? Thanks.

  How can I remove a browser's cache server-side, using ASP.NET (C#)? A coupon shows by itself (I believe it comes from cache as I did also browse for other apparel sites). It breaks my JavaScript as well as my server-side code, as I am using an UpdatePanel for Ajax, and it duplicates the UpdatePanel's ID. I have renamed the UpdatePanel's ID, but it makes no difference. It generates "Invalid view State" exception.   I've created some code that will return a random row, (well, all the rows in a random order) But i'm assuming its VERY uneffiecent and is gonna be a problem in a big database... Anyone know of a better way?   I have a sentence and correction model class Sentence < ActiveRecord::Base has_one :correction class Correction < ActiveRecord::Base belongs_to :sentence and I'm trying find all sentences which don't have a correction. To do this I'm simply looking for corrections which don't exist i.e. whose id = nil. But it is failing and i can't figure out why Sentence.find :all, :include => :correction, :conditions => {:correction => {:id => nil}} Perhaps its the syntax or maybe just the overall approach. Can anyone help?

• looping thru a list of checkboxes and saving the values, not working properly

  Hello all, I'm having a bit of a problem with this code. The program gives me a list of checkboxes but a user ID. then u user can change his selection and push the save button (id="btnSaveUserIntersts") and i am trying to save in the hidden textbox all the values of the checkboxes that was choosen. The problem is that i am getting all the time the same selections that came form the database and not getting the new selection that the user made. • Disabling identity (auto-incrementing) on integer primary key using code first

  I am using code first approach in a ASP.NET MVC 3 application and all integer primary keys in models (public int Id { get; set; }) are by default configured as an identity with auto-incrementing. How to disable this and enable a way to manually enter the integer for the primary key? The actual situation is that the Id integers have a special meaning and I would therefore like to have them choosable at creation and later editable. It would be ideal if in case the integer is not given at creation time it is auto-incremented, else the specified value is used. But editable primary fields is my primary need. Is there any way to do this elegantly in ASP.NET MVC 3?

  I cannot figure out what is wrong with the XPATH when trying to extract a value from a webpage table.   Hi everyone, I am experiencing a problem that has popped up recently and is causing quite a bit of trouble for our system. • Using non-Railsy route to prepopulate a form

  I have many instances of a Rails model, Post. When viewing an individual post, I'd like to create a form to create a child of Post called Comment. I'd like to prepopulate this form with a hidden tag that contains the post_id which is the foreign key in Comment. The Railsy way to do this is to create a fancy-ish route such as: /comments/new/post/:post_id However, this gunks up the routes file and doesn't leave much flexibility. Let's say I want to create a link somewhere else that prepopulates a different attribute of the form...then I'd have to add another route for this. So I think I'm going to create urls like this on /posts/show/:id: /comments/new?comment[post_id]=<%= @post.id %> This way I can add any other attributes as I need. I know the plus side associated with this, now what are the downsides?

• securing a webservice for use from a custom iphone app only

  I want to create an iphone application which consists of two parts: The app itself and a server side component. On a users request, the app sends data to the server which is to be handled by human operators. To prevent abuse from an iphone app user, the id of the iphone is sent along with the request, and the operators can blacklist pranksters to deny their iphone access to the service. So far so good. Now the problem is: Someone could easily discover the address of the serverside component, and write a script to send bogus requests, using multiple IP addresses etc. So my question is: how can I defend myself against this? Captchas to protect against scripted attacks or requiring the user to register himself are not an option for this particular application. If I had control of the download, I would associate a unique ID with each downloaded app, but obviously this is not an option with the appstore. What would be your approach to make the server side part more secure?

  Currently me and my friend are developing a website, for what we will call 'projects' we just have a basic auto increment id in the database used to navigate to projects such as oururl.com/viewproject?id=1 but we started thinking, if we have alot of posted projects thats going to be a LONG url. So we need to somehow randomly generate a alphanumerical string about 6 characters long. We want the chance of the string being duplicated being extremely low and of course we will query the database before assigning an identifier. Thanks for anyhelp, means alot!

  I retrieve an object graph from DB using EF4. The context is closed as soon as the data retrieve and the data passes to the controller, and then to the view. in the view the data is modified, and then the controller gets it back. From the controller I run Repository.Update(MyEmp); and in my repository the code goes: using (var context = new mydb()) { if (myEmp.ID != 0) // Checking if it's modified or new { context.Emp.Attach(MyEmp); int result = context.SaveChanges(); return myEmp.ID; } } The problem - once attached, the object entityState goes to unchanged, and not modified, and of course - nothing is saved to the database. What am I doing wrong ?

  Does anyone know if it is possible to use the Visual Studio / SQL Server Management Studio debugger to inspect the contents of a Table Value Parameter passed to a stored procedure? To give a trivial example: CREATE TYPE [dbo].[ControllerId] AS TABLE( [id] [nvarchar](max) NOT NULL ) GO CREATE PROCEDURE [dbo].[test] @controllerData [dbo].[ControllerId] READONLY AS BEGIN SELECT COUNT(*) FROM @controllerData; END DECLARE @SampleData as [dbo].[ControllerId]; INSERT INTO @SampleData ([id]) VALUES ('test'), ('test2'); exec [dbo].[test] @SampleData; Using the above with a break point on the exec statement, I am able to step into the stored procedure without any trouble. The debugger shows that the @controllerData local has a value of '(table)' but I have not found any tool that would allow me to actual view the rows that make up that table.

  Paperclip is generating wrong URLs in Heroku. I have an Audio model which has a mp3 field as follows: class Audio < ActiveRecord::Base has_attached_file :mp3, :storage => :s3, :s3_credentials => S3_CREDENTIALS, :bucket => S3_CREDENTIALS[:bucket], :path => ":rails_root/public/system/:attachment/:id/:style/:filename", :url => "/system/:attachment/:id/:style/:filename" I am calling audio.mp3.url from a controller, and it returns http://s3.amazonaws.com/MyApp/audios/mp3s//original/96a9ae89302fdf8462ee05eb829f2e17578b144e20120908-2-11f61zr.mp3?1347135050 instead of http://s3.amazonaws.com/MyApp/audios/mp3s/000/000/004/original/96a9ae89302fdf8462ee05eb829f2e17578b144e20120908-2-11f61zr.mp3?1347135050 (which works) Why is it missing the '000/000/004' part of the route? The same model is generating the right URL when used in a view. Any help? I am using paperclip 3.2.0 and Rails 3.1.8. Any help?
