  • how does selenium webdriver upload files to the browser?

    I am a javascript/java developer and I have been trying to figure out how the selenium webdriver automation framework uploads files from the file system. It is impossible to set a file input via javascript because it is a security violation. Yet somehow webdriver is able to do this with the following command: driver.setFileDetector(new LocalFileDetector()); WebElement upload = driver.findElement(By.id("myfile")); upload.sendKeys("/Users/sso/the/local/path/to/darkbulb.jpg"); driver.findElement(By.id("submit")).click(); So they are setting the value by sending keys to it? I don't get it. I have looked through the source code found here: http://code.google.com/p/selenium/source/checkout I am still not able to find where they do this. Edit: My question is not how to do this with selenium, but how did the selenium developers make this possible? How did they get around the security restrictions in javascript? How are they uploading the file?

  • Normalize database or not? Read only MyISAM table, performance is the main priority (MySQL)

    I'm importing data to a future database that will have one, static MyISAM table (will only be read from). I chose MyISAM because as far as I understand it's faster for my requirements (I'm not very experienced with MySQL / SQL at all). That table will have various columns such as ID, Name, Gender, Phone, Status... and Country, City, Street columns. Now the question is, should I create tables (e.g Country: Country_ID, Country_Name) for the last 3 columns and refer to them in the main table by ID (normalize...[?]), or just store them as VARCHAR in the main table (having duplicates, obviously)? My primary concern is speed - since the table won't be written into, data integrity is not a priority. The only actions will be selecting a specific row or searching for rows that much a certain criteria. Would searching by the Country, City and/or Street columns (and possibly other columns in the same search) be faster if I simply use VARCHAR?

When i run it, if TotalDays is NULL or <=0, then Total is set to 0 (zero). What i would like to do here is to set the result of the whole query(Excesses) to 0. I want (Excesses) which is the result of Total - Min(Assignments) to be set to 0 if its NULL or <=0. I want the CASE WHEN to apply to the whole query but am struggling to get it right.

  • setfsuid() and python 2.5.4

    Hi, I'm trying to use setfsuid() with python 2.5.4 and RHEL 5.4. Since it's not included in the os module, I wrapped it in a C module of my own and installed it as a python extension module using distutils. However when I try to use it I don't get the expected result. setfsuid() returns value indicating success (changing from a superuser), but I can't access files to which only the newly set user should have user access (using open()), indicating that fsuid was not truely changed. I tried to verify setfsuid() worked, by running it consecutively twice with the same user input The result was as if nothing had changed, and on every call the returned value was of old user id different from the new one. I also called getpid() from the module, and from the python script, both returned the same id. so this is not the problem. Just in case it's significant, I should note that I'm doing all of this from within an Apache daemon process (WSGI). Anyone can provide an explanation to that? Thank you

  • Xcode method navigation

    In Xcode 4, I can press Ctrl-6 to get a list of all the methods in the current file. The problem is, if I have private methods declared at the top of my implementation file, say: @interface Foo () -(void)tap:(id)sender; @end @implementation Foo ... -(void)tap:(id)sender { ... } then starting to type "tap" while the method list is visible will just take me to the declaration, since it comes first in the file, when what I really want is the implementation. Is there any way to exclude these declarations from the method list or do I need to resort to separate Foo.h and Foo+Private.h headers? Thanks!

    Let us say I have a model Post which belongs to a User. To convert to json, I do something like this @reply.to_json(:include => {:user => {:only => [:email, :id]}, :only => [:title, :id]) However, I want to set some defaults for this so I don't have to specify :only everytime. I am trying to override as_json to accomplish this. When I add as_json in User model, it is called when I do @user.to_json but when user is included in @reply.to_json, my overriden as_json for User is ignored. How do I make this work? Thanks

    I have over time, changed the size for thumbs of the class Deal. Through these changes, users were uploading to the site, so there are few people who have different sized thumbs. I wanted to reprocress or refresh these, so I went to into my root and typed: $ rake paperclip:refresh class=Deal Did nothing for the thumb sizes.. Then I : irb Deal.find(987).reprocess!     I have datbase with thousands of rows of error logs and their description.This error log is for an application that running 24/7. I want to create a dashboard/UI to view the current common errors happening for prodcution support. The problem I am having is that even though there are lot of common errors, the error description differs by the transcation ID or user ID or things that are unique for that sigle prcoess. e.g Error trasaction XYz failed for user 233 e.g 2. Error trasaction XYz failed for user 567 I consider these two erros to be same. So I want to a program that will go through the new error logs and classify them into groups. I am trying to use "edit distance" but its very slow.Since I alraedy have old error logs, i am trying to think of solutions using that information too. Any thoughts?

    Hello, I need to change the color of certain attributes/tags. I am switching from Dreamweaver and making the skin has been really hard in TextMate. As you can see, I want to change the a and img tags along with all of their attributes. The closest I've come to find is entity.other.attribute-name which only works with id for some reason entity.other.attribute-name.id Bonus would be the scope selector for the value of an attribute, e.g. "Logo" alt in the above example.   • HTML anchor #bottom, only going half-way down page

I tried to solve this by using a unique id and name for the attributes: <a href="#bottom" id="4656" name="4656"> But this hasn't worked. Suggestions? P.S. Don't use the URL bar, yes that works. Visit the page and click on a link in a post that says "Bottom of the page". This is where it isn't working.
