• Asp.Net MVC does automatic model validation for DateTime but no others

  I'm using MVC 2 with some Models from a LinqToSql project that I built. I see that when I post back to a Controller Action after editing a form that has a DateTime field from the Model, the MVC Html.ValidationMessageFor() helper will nicely display an error beside the Date text box. This seems to happen automatically when the you test ModelState.IsValid() in the Controller Action, as if the MVC model binding automatically knows that the DateTime field cannot be empty. My question is... I have some other string fields in these LinqToSql generated classes that are Not-Nullable (marked as Not Nullable in Sql Server which passes thourgh to the LinqToSql generated classes), so why doesn't Mr. MVC pick up on those as well and display a "Required" message in the ValidationMessageFor() placeholders I have added for those fields? Sure, I have successfully added the MetadataType(typeof) buddy classes to cover these Non-nullable string fields, but it sure does seem redundant to add all this metadata in buddy classes when the LinqToSql generated classes already contain enough info that MVC could sniff out. It MVC validation works with DateTime automatically, why not these Not-nullable fields too?

• Still getting duplicate token error after calling DuplicateTokenEx for impersonated token

  I'm trying to return a Sytem.IntPtr from a service call so that the client can use impersonation to call some code. My imersonation code works properly if not passing the token back from a WCF service. I'm not sure why this is not working. I get the following error: "Invalid token for impersonation - it cannot be duplicated." According to the MSDN documentation I read here I should be able to create a token valid for delegation and use across the context on remote systems. • Go import error while trying to import web.go package after using goinstall

  With halfdans advice, I was successfully able to use goinstall github.com/hoisie/web.go without any errors after installing git first. However, now when I try to compile the sample code given, go is not finding the web package. I get the error, main.go:4: can't find import: web On this code package main import ( "web" ) func hello(val string) string { return "hello " + val } func main() { web.Get("/(.*)", hello) web.Run("0.0.0.0:9999") } Is there something special I need to do in order for it to recognize the package? I found the package source at $GOROOT/src/pkg/github.com/hoisie/web.go/web. I tried that path as the import and it still did not like that.

  I'm trying to use a reloadable spring resource bundle but spring cannot find the file. I've tried tons of different paths, but can't get it to work anywhere. In the code below you'll see that i load both the spring bundle and the regular one from the same path variable but only one works. I've been banging my head against this for far too long.   Hey, what is the best way to concatenate 2 bitsets? For example i've got boost::dynamic_bitset<> test1( std::string("1111") ); boost::dynamic_bitset<> test2( std::string("00") ); they should be concatenated into a thrid Bitset test3 which then holds 111100 Solutions should use boost::dynamic_bitset. If the solution works with std::bitset, it would be nice too. There should be a focus on performance when concatenating the bits.

  Consider the following method signature: public static bool TryGetPolls(out List<Poll> polls, out string errorMessage) This method performs the following: accesses the database to generate a list of Poll objects. returns true if it was success and errorMessage will be an empty string returns false if it was not successful and errorMessage will contain an exception message. Is this good style? Update: Lets say i do use the following method signature: public static List<Poll> GetPolls() and in that method, it doesn't catch any exceptions (so i depend the caller to catch exceptions). How do i dispose and close all the objects that is in the scope of that method? As soon as an exception is thrown, the code that closes and disposes objects in the method is no longer reachable.

• Slow performance when utilizing Interop.DSOFile to search files by Custom Document Property

  I am new to the world of VB.NET and have been tasked to put together a little program to search a directory of about 2000 Excel spreadsheets and put together a list to display based on the value of a Custom Document Property within that spreadsheet file. Given that I am far from a computer programmer by education or trade, this has been an adventure. I've gotten it to work, the results are fine. The problem is, it takes well over a minute to run. It is being run over a LAN connection. When I run it locally (using a 'test' directory of about 300 files) it executes in about 4 seconds. I'm not sure even what to expect as a reasonable execution speed, so I thought I would ask here. The code is below, if anyone thinks changes there might be of use in speeding things up.   Currently, I have an HQL query that returns all Members who possess ANY Award from a set of specified Awards: from Member m left join m.awards as a where a.name in ("Trophy","Ribbon"); What I now need is HQL that will return all Members who possess ALL Awards specified in the set of Awards. So, assuming this data: Joe has Trophy, Medal Sue has Trophy, Ribbon Tom has Trophy, Ribbon, Medal The query above would return Joe, Sue, and Tom because all three possess at least one of Trophy or Ribbon. But I need to return only Sue and Tom, because they are the only ones who possess all of the specified awards (Trophy and Ribbon).   I have been struggling with this for some times.. I searched around but didnt get a solution yet. This is only an issue on production server. In my development environment, everything works just fine. I am using JQuery/Ajax to update product information based on product's Color attribute. for example, a product has A and B color, the price for color A is different from color B. When user choose different color, the price information is updated as well.   Hi, How can I get fluent nhibernate to create a varbinary field in a sql server 2005 table that uses a field size of varbinary(max)? At the moment I always get a default of varbinary(8000), which isn't big enough as i'm going to be storing image files. I've tried using CAstle.ActiveRecord but havent had any success yet. • how to set flex combobox cursor position

  I have a combobox implementation as follows - Based on user input (min 2 chars) in the editable combobox, the data provider is refreshed and drop-down opened, showing different data sets as user input varies. Problem is that after drop-down opens, the cursor moves back to the beginning. So for instance, the user types in "ab", and wants to type in "c" to form the search string "abc". Due to the cursor re-setting its position to 0, the search string instead ends up as "cab". Here's what I tried already (doesn't work) : textInput.mx_internal::getTextField().setSelection(index, index); where index = length of user input. This selects text from index to index (which effectively un-selects text) and is supposed to place the cursor at the end. Any thoughts?

I know there definitely is files in that root folder containing that file extension.

I think the line 'array[3]' is wrong, but I think I've read that this should remove the array cell. What would be the right way to remove an array cell? Does it depend on object type? (String vs Number vs Object) Or Can one manipulate the UpperBound value to make it work? i.e. after removing Item 3, I want the UpperBound, or arraylength, to be 2, since this is logically correct.
