• Exchange ActiveSync with muliple email addresses

  I have Exchange 2007 SP2, and I have successfully connected my Windows Mobile phone via Exchange ActiveSync and can send and receive emails. I have two addresses within my Exchange mailbox, [email protected] and [email protected], with the second being set as the reply address. When I view my email addresses on my device, I see both of these email addresses, however when I send new messages it always selects the first email address as the reply address and not the second. It is probably worth pointing out that, like in the example provided above, the email addresses are shown alphabetically and the address being selected is the first alphabetically (just in case that matters). I would like to set the device to always select the reply address specified in the mailbox, or at least be able to ensure that the address I want is selected if I have to select it manually on the device, but cannot find any way to make this happen. Can anybody help?

  Hi all, I had this Warning with mxtoolbox. I know that it's not necessarily a big problem, but since we are having lots of issue with email delivery, I want to check everything. I have a Exchange server 07 + Sonicwall. My FQDN is office.mydomain.ca for send/receive connectors. When I try : telnet office.mydomain.ca 25 -- 220 MYSERVER.mydomain.local Microsoft ESMTP MAIL Service ready at Fri, 7 May 2010 10:34:36 -0400 I can change my SMTP Banner in the Sonicwall, but I don't know what to write, if there is a specific syntax or what can be the consequence if it doesn't work. • SharePoint Upgade Question

  My company will be upgrading our SharePoint 2007 site to SP2010 and I know how to do it. But there is one step in the migration step that I don't. The pre-upgrade checker will give you a list of components/solutions that are referenced in the contentDBs but is not installed on the upgraded sharepoint farm. What do you do if the component is not available for 2010? (I believe the only option is uninstall the component before migration). Even if an upgrade is available for upgraded components won't it have a different GUID and therefore not solve the migration error messages? In other words, isn't it true that "install missing components" advice for 07 components only work if the 07 components works in 2010 (which I think is very few components.). Thanks. Seth

  I'm trying to write a DASL filter to combine three queries: Get all mail with no category and no flag. ("urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office#Keywords" IS NULL AND "urn:schemas:httpmail:messageflag" IS NULL) Get all mail that is categorized as "Ryan" and flagged with a red "Today" flag. Don't know how to write this one. Get all mail that is uncategorized and flagged with a red "Today" flag. Don't know how to write this one. Once I have the individual queries, I will combine and OR them. I am stuck on how to filter the flag value.

• Sorting emails with no To: tags in Outlook

  Lately people at work have been sending with mailing lists in blind copies instead of just sending to the mailing lists. I think the intent is to prevent people from accidentally replying to all, but it means that these emails aren't sorted into their proper folders when they arrive. I'd like to at least be able to sort them into a common folder, but these emails arrive with no "To:" line in the headers. I'm using Outlook 2007, and I can't figure out a way to use their built-in rule editor to create a rule that sorts these emails. Is there a plugin that will allow me to sort emails like this, or a better rule editor? Updated: I know this is very old, but this is still very annoying to me. Is there any way to sort these kinds of emails to their own folder?

• Delay of mail delivery - Hosted exchange provider

  Hi, I recently signed up to a new hosted email provider. When I send mail (from OWA, OR Outlook) there is a delay of up to 3 minutes from when i send the message, to when it's received (in my gmail account for example) I've listed the headers below. Is there anything I can advise my new email host to do? My previous email host delivers within 5 seconds!! • Microsoft Entourage/Exchange Server problem: all objects disappeared from server - still in some form on the client

  One of our employees works with Entourage on his MacBook Pro (OSX 10.6) accessing Exchange Server 2007. Last Friday morning, I think while working over a VPN, Entourage (I think it was Entourage) deleted all his objects (mail, calendar, contacts) on the server and while creating a lot of strange folders (starting with underscores) on the client. The local data seems to be there, but not in a consistent form. Since the user's mailbox is rather big, I suspect, that there was some kind of "move" operation which did not complete. I tried to export the data, but the export stops because of a corrupted object. Is there a tool or another way to export or retrieve the local data? Edit - FYI: we solved the problem getting his data from the previous night's backup.

• How to add in in appendix page numbers separately from the regular heading page numbers

  I had regular page numbers on my Microsoft Word 2007 document at the bottom center of my page, starting from 1 from Insert tab Page Number Bottom of page Plain Number 2. I added an appendix with Heading 6 and followed the instructions from http://support.microsoft.com/kb/290953 to create separate page numbers just for the appendix, i.e. A-1, A-2, B-1, B-2, etc. The Page Number Format configuration I did is here: ]When I try to set this however, it changes all of the page numbers to this format, even the ones that aren't from heading 6 (meaning it changes the non-appendix content to this page number format). Here's another example: 1 Heading1 has page number A-4 (note it starts at A-1 at the title page) ... Appendix A has page number A-12 I would like to change it so that 1 Heading1 has page number 4 (note it starts at 1 at the title page) ... Appendix A has page number A-1 Anyone know why this is happening? Thank you!!

• Defragment an Exchange Volume

  The Scenario: I use a dedicated volume (RAID volume) to store all of my data for my Exchange 2007 server. Today, out of curiosity, I decided to check up on how fragmented the files on this data volume were. To my surprise, the answer is extremely. So, a three part question: First and Foremost, SHOULD I defragment this volume (after a full backup of course)? Be specific as to why not if I should not, or reasons I absolutely should if I should. Second, about how much time should I allow for during this maintenance period per gigabyte. The drives are all 7200 RPM SATA drives on a Hardware RAID 5 controller (Perc 5i/6i, can't remember), the files are extremely fragmented. (Over 5000 file fragments per gigabyte). Third, is there something wrong here? It seems to me like the drive shouldn't be this fragmented. Could something be configured incorrectly that could be causing this to happen?

• How do I get excel to close completely after creating a macro in a personal workbook?

  I am using Microsoft Excel 2007 and have several macros in my personal.xlsb workbook, which I use often, so it is very convenient that Excel opens them automatically when it starts. What I don't like is when I click on the "X" in the upper right corner of the window Excel does not exit when I close the last visible workbook. I think that this is because personal.xlsb is still open (though hidden). There are several other questions here on Superuser that have people remove personal.xlsb or move it so it doesn't open on startup (question 65297) or change settings to have only one window show in the taskbar (question 86989). (Sorry there are no hyperlinks--apparently I need more reputation to add additional hyperlinks.) I would like to have personal.xlsb open when I open Excel, have each Excel window show in the taskbar but have Excel exit when I click the "X" on the last workbook that isn't personal.xlsb. Any thoughts on how to achieve this?

• Additional mailboxes in Outlook 07 SP2

  I have had my Outlook 2007 open additional mailboxes via the advanced account settings. After updating to Office SP2, the list of emails in the additional account still displays, but I get a message for each mailbox item: This item cannot be displayed in the Reading Pane. Open the item to read its contents. After double clicking the message, I get a small error box which displays just Cannot open this item. Unknown Error. Also, if I try to re-add the mailbox in the Advanced tab of my account settings, I get an error message The name cannot be resolved. The connection to Microsoft Exchange is unavailable. Outlook must be online or connected to complete this action. However, the status bar indicates Online with Microsoft Exchange, and I can both send and receive emails from my primary account. What could be going wrong?

  Hello everyone, I am using Virtual PC 2007 on Windows Vista Enterprise x86. My confusion is about the network setting for guest OS. In the network setting, I can set the network adaptor of guest OS to one of my physical network adaptors of my host OS (I have tested that it works for guest OS to use the physical network adaptor of host OS to access external network). But in this way, 1. since both host OS and guest OS will use the same physical network adaptor, will there be any conflicts (e.g. same H/W serves two OS)? 2. will guest OS share a part of network bandwidth of the host OS of the physical network adaptor? 3. • can't add sharepoint users from trusted domain

  I have a very strange problem with our Sharepoint 2007 implementation. I went in today to grant access to a user and was greeted with "The user does not exist or is not unique." Let me start off by saying that this user is not on our domain we have a 2 way trust connecting to one of our subsidiaries. I can see the users in the people pick but can't add them into Sharepoint. This problem flared up after we had some trust issues last two days ago. So I must ask has anyone came across this error and if so what steps did you take to resolve it? • Folder Disappeared In Outlook but is still searchable?

  Hi All currently having an issue where the personal folders in outlook seem to be disappearing. We have a folder called 0 Mail Filing, it seems to have disappeared, but doing a search for mail, it finds the mail and the folder is still in inbox/0 Mail Filing. Is there anyway to find the exact location, or get the folder back. We have checked all of the other subfolders and the folder is not in any of them.   Hi, I have an Access database in a computer and I want to access it from other computer in the network. so I made mapped drive and created Linked Tables, then Imported all the objects (forms, queries, reports). when I open access database in the second computer and make any changes in using the forms non of the changes are affected in the main computer (supposedly server) and vise-versa. what am I missing? if this way will not work how can I access the Access database from other computer in the network and be able to use all the objects and make changes in it? hint: Access Version at main computer is 2003 and client pc 2007, will it effect?

• Internal users can't receive email sent by application

  We have an application server that hosts a CRM application. It is using SMTP on it's own server to send emails. If I send an email using the application to [email protected], it shows up in my inbox. If I send an email to [email protected], it never shows up. It doesn't matter what address I put in for @MyCompanyDomain.com, they never get through. Any email addresses outside our domain/firewall get through. We're using Exchange 2007 and when I look at the message tracking logs, the missing messages don't show up there, either. Is there something I need to configure in Exchange or the SMTP server on the application server? I can't figure out why emails get outside the firewall but internal emails never show up. • Outlook opening link in IE 64-bit

  I am running CRM 4.0 plugin for outlook 2007. When I open a link in outlook it launches in IE8 64-bit. This will not work because it appears some on the feature in CRM 4.0 do not work in IE 64-bit. The default browser on the computer was FireFox. I change it to IE 32-bit and it is still behaving the same. Does anyone have any ideas outlook why it is opening in 64-bit? Is there a way to force Outlook to use the 32-bit version?

  Hello, I have 2 client compters running XP and MS office with Outlook 2007. I have a 2003 server running exchange. Clients e-mail account was removed on clients computer. But the e-mails are still on server as I see the mailbox with approx 14k of mail How do I restore the e-mail account on clients and retrieve the e-mail from server. I did not set up the outlook or exchange, so I do not know the e-mail settings. Any help? Chris

  We are in the process of ditching Cisco Unity for Exchange 2007 Unified Messaging; however, I just came to realization that Exchange doesn't seem to provide a way to upload a WAV file to be used as a voicemail greeting. This could be a problem, since we have several mailboxes that use professionally recorded greetings. I found this article which shows how to access the data through MAPI, but it does not provide a way to upload new files. Note, this is not for the auto attendants, but for actual voicemail greetings.

• Why do funky characters show up in these Microsoft Word equations?

  A colleague sent me a document created with Microsoft Office 2007 that contains equations. On her end, the document looks fine; however, on my end, the equations show up with these funky characters overlaid on them: Why do these weird characters show up, and how do I fix it? The equations appear like this in both .doc and .docx documents. Additionally, when I double-click on the equations to edit them, I get a warning that the equations were created with a newer version of the equation editor, and when I close the editing window, the equations are gone completely. I think this might indicate a compatibility problem, but I am not sure of a solution.

• Mark as read on delete in Outlook?

  I'd like Outlook to mark any messages I delete to be marked as read. For bonus points, I'd like it to only do this on messages that I have opened/previewed before pressing delete since this means I've looked at the content and chosen to delete it. I know I can set it to mark as read after x seconds when I'm looking at it, that's not what I want. I also know that I can move off the message & back on to it or right click to mark as read - still not what I want. I'm using Outlook 2007 in case that matters. [Edit: I just found I can at least mark as read with a keyboard shortcut: Ctrl-Q, but again, it'd be nice to not have to do this. More shortcuts here.]

• Powerpoint template image placeholders can't send to back

  We want to be able to set up a PowerPoint 2007 template with a picture frame image. We then want to insert an image in normal view which would appear behind the picture frame image that was put in the template (so it looks logically like a picture in a picture frame). Problem is, when we insert the image in normal view it always appears on top of the picture frame image. It appears that you can't send to back when the other elements are included in a template. Any ideas?

• Outlook Search Folder - Unread Mail in shared mailbox

  I have a user who is trying to configure the Unread Mail search folder for a shared mailbox in Outlook 2007. I believe last time we accomplished this by doing an advanced find, and saving the search. However, on this computer I can't search more than one folder of the shared mailbox at a time. Everything I have read online says this isn't possible, but we have one user who has it set up and working perfectly. There's no additional software or indexing, not even Windows Desktop Search 4.0 updates installed.

• Basic Exchange Deployment Question

  I have come into a situation where I need to deploy a new Exchange server at a small company. I haven't dealt with the newest version of Exchange (2010) yet, but am familiar with 2003 and 2007. The site is currently running one Exchange 2003 server, which hosts about 100 mailboxes. We have new hardware for an additional server, and this is where I need some advice. Should I install Exchange 2010 on the new hardware and leave the older server as-is? Do I upgrade the old server and use it as a bridgehead or replication partner (there is nothing wrong with it other than it is a few years old and running Win2003/Exchange2003)? Can I leave the older 2003 server alone with only the POP mailboxes on it, and will it peacefully co-exist with the new server? Any advice is very appreciated!
