I'm looking for a productivity/operations management web service (ideally, free) that is aimed towards non-profits. Some of the features that I'm looking for include:
Indexing and sorting of contacts
Organizing milestones into a tree hierarchy
Tagging of documents for indexing and searching
Any ideas? Thanks!
My mate told me that there's a tool to manage services in Ubuntu, System Administration Services. But unfortunately, I don't found it in my Ubuntu (9.10). Is it easy to get it? What package do I need to install?
If not, are there any alternative GUI programs to manage services (like mysql, apache and so forth)?
Postfix serves for my virtual domains and works fine.
But for one of my domains:
- it bounces mails targeted at [email protected]
- it rejects mails targeted at [email protected]
problem is, [email protected] does not exist either.
here is my postconf
why does it bounce [email protected], and reject other non existing mails?
Thanks.
Within dsa.mac when I right-click on a computer and choose "Manage", it displays the following error message:
Can't find path to computer \\computer.domain.tld.
If I try ping computer.domain.tld, DNS translates it to an IP but the computer does not answer. It is right that ping does not answer? Pinging a computer that is not joined to the domain replies as expected.
How can I correct this issue?
I am currently attempting to transfer over 1 million files from one server to another. Using wget, it seems to be extremely slow, probably because it starts a new transfer after the previous one has been completed.
Question: Is there a faster non-blocking (asynchronous) way to do the transfer? I do not have enough space on the first server to compress the files into tar.gz and transferring them over. Thanks!
Hi,
I am researching a bit on virtualization for my class presentation.
I am not clear about the terms - "virtualizable instructions" and "non-virtualizable instructions".
Could someone here please explain that ?
Anyone know if it is possible to get a non-domain Server to pick-up it's updates from a domain included WSUS server?
Just thinking about Hyper-V host Servers, in a single server environment clearly this cannot be part of the domain because at the time the VM Host boots the Domain Controllers is not available. However is there any way to make this Hyper-V Host collect it's updates from the WSUS server.
I have a .bkf backup file, created by the Backup utility that Microsoft provides with Windows XP. Is there a way to read the contents of the file using a non-Microsoft OS, preferably Mac OS X or Linux?
I have 128 KB/s (1 Mbit/s) internet connection. Not quite fast for downloading big files, but it is okay for internet browsing. When I start big file dowload, I cannot surf the web normally: pages appears slowly, especially pictures there. Therefore I pause downloading, but I'm regularly spending much time on reading articles or leaving the computer alone, when I can allow the file being dowloaded.
Is there any software that can automize the process of pausing and resuming download or simply automatically regulate internet speed for each application using Internet? I download files using different software and protocols (Download Master for http, ftp; uTorrent for torrents; many other programs for updating themselves), so I don't want to be tied to particular program for downloading.
Is there any google chrome extension that lets you manage other extensions? So that you can disable and enable them by just one click
Because I have many extensions installed in my chrome browser but I do not use them everytime. So I disable them, then enable them later using the bookmark with this address:
chrome://extensions/
I am facing a company that have a fairly recent Microsoft Dynamics NAV (C/Side) setup that comes with a non-SQL storage system called the native database server. I would need to be remotely connect to this database, and perform what would equate to SQL queries with very modest needs (no join, no complex filtering).
I am rather ignorant of this technology, does someone knows to how make remote queries to this ERP?
The cluster managing software for managing clusters on a windows server 2005 cluster had a checkbox for "allow application to interact with desktop" when creating a generic application resource. This appears to be gone in the management software for server 2008 clusters. Does anyone know where this option, if it still exists, is?
In order to use password-protected file sharing in a basic home network I want to create a number of non-interactive user accounts on a Windows 8 Pro machine in addition to the existing set of interactive accounts. The users that corresponds to those extra accounts will not use this machine interactively, so I don't want their accounts to be available for logon and I don't want their names to appear on welcome screen.
In older versions of Windows Pro (up to Windows 7) I did this by first creating the accounts as members of "Users" group, and then including them into "Deny logon locally" list in Local Security Policy settings. This always had the desired effect. However, my question is whether this is the right/best way to do it.
The reason I'm asking is that even though this method works in Windows 8 Pro as well, it has one little quirk: interactive users from "User" group are still able to see these extra user names when they go to the Metro screen and hit their own user name in the top-right corner (i.e. open "Sign out/Lock" menu). The command list that drops out contains "Sign out" and "Lock" commands as well as the names of other users (for "switch user" functionality). For some reason that list includes the extra users from "Deny logon locally" list. It is interesting to note that this happens when the current user belongs to "Users" group, but it does not happen when the current user is from "Administrators".
For example, let's say I have three accounts on the machine: "Administrator" (from "Administrators", can logon locally), "A" (from "Users", can logon locally), "B" (from "Users", denied logon locally). When "Administrator" is logged in, he can only see user "A" listed in his Metro "Sign out/Lock" menu, i.e. all works as it should. But when user "A" is logged in, he can see both "Administrator" and user "B" in his "Sign out/Lock" menu.
Expectedly, in the above example trying to switch from user "A" to user "B" by hitting "B" in the menu does not work: Windows jumps to welcome screen that lists only "Administrator" and "A".
Anyway, on the surface this appears to be an interface-level bug in Windows 8. However, I'm wondering if going through "Deny logon locally" setting is the right way to do it in Windows 8. Is there any other way to create a hidden non-interactive user account?
There's a bucket into which some users may write their data for backup purposes.
They use s3cmd to put new files into their bucket.
I'd like to enforce a non-destruction policy on these buckets - meaning, it should be impossible for users to destroy data, they should only be able to add data.
How can I create a bucket policy that only lets a certain user put a file if it doesn't already exist, and doesn't let him do anything else with the bucket.
The built in bookmarks UX for Firefox is dismall. How do I bookmark a page without opening the whole shebang and shoosing a bookmark folder? I can simply 'star' the page, but then it ends up in Unsorted Bookmarks. I can move a bookmark folder to the bookmark toolbar, where I have instant access to all bookmarks in that folder, but I can no longer bookmark a page in that folder in the normal way, because when I have to click the damned bookmark folder icon and manually type in the URL and title.
What add-ins are there that can make bookmarking in Firefox humanly sane?
I Get the follow:
Windows failed to start. A recent hardware or software change might be the cause. To fix the problem:
Insert your windows installation disc and restart your computer.
Choose your language settings, and then click "Next."
Click "Repair your computer."
If you do not have this disc, Contact your system administrator or computer manufacturer for assistance.
Status: 0XC0000225
Info: The boot selection failed because a required device is inaccessible.
After I tried to expand the Windows partition. I dont know where I put the Windows 7 CD and I was wondering if anyone knew of any way of fixing this problem? I'm guessing I deleted something I shouldnt have deleted....... I actually wanted to get some more space at the expense of the recovery drive.
Thanks in advance!
I'm trying to configure my Windows 2008 servers so that my developers can view their status without needing to log on to the box or be an admin. Unfortunately, the permissions set in Windows 2008 for remote non-admin users don't include the ability to enumerate or otherwise query services. This causes anything that contacts the SCM on the far end to fail (Win32_Service, sc.exe, services.msc etc).
How do I set up permissions so that they can at least list the services and see if they are running?
Does anyone knows which are these systems that manages paid wifi networks and some hotels and airports?
Even better, would anyone know a open/free project that would do or could be adapted to that end?
The idea is simple, I want to let the network open at physical level so anyone can connect. After connected however, the clients would have access only to a specified page where they can logging in, and doing the necessary validations the router would allow these of those ports (or even everything) for his IP.
I connect to many different computers via VNC and RDP. I'm looking for a windows client that can preferably do the following, though I'd accept software options that only meet some of the points:
Save profiles (hostname, username, password, settings, etc.)
Connect to VNC Servers
Connect to RDP Servers
Connect to SSH Servers (or ssh tunneling)
Scan network for devices not in saved profiles
Free (as in beer)
Tools that do similar things, but not on windows:
ARD on OSX
iSSH on iPad
Desktop Connect on iPad
Dear Friends
I was trying to configure OEM today. Everything seemed fine.
I could login the OEM but when I tried to lauch DBA studio from there, I could not and it said no database has been discovered yet. I don't understand why since I created a database already.
Has anyone experienced that?
Thank You

I've setup extension mobility to the best of my ability, however, it its perplexing me...
From the materials I've been reading I have established I need to have the following URL in place: http://IP/emapp/EmAppServlet?device=#DEVICENAME#
If I try and browse to this in a web browser I can a blankHTML page.
When my registered phone (CIPC) presses Services - Extension Mobility, it just sits there / delivers a blank page.
I figure this isn't coincidence... Any ideas?
