    UBUNTU 11.10 on 8GB USB 3.0 pendrive. Drive Partitioned using gparted. 4GB BASE 3GB Home 600MB swap Installation Ok. Restart blinking cursor. Installed another distro on another USB 3.0 stick. It boots OK. --------------- DEBUG -------------------------------------- Boot Other distro and check: I compare boot file with another linux. grub of ubuntu is 1.4mb contend is different. Taken photo with mobile camera but can not add here. Files has note(music) sign on it. Downloaded 11.10 desktop and Installed. Same result. Will download 12.x when ready and try. Ready to try any suggstion. Orhan

  • How to report abuse to website hosting company (GoDaddy)

    I'm not sure if this is the right place to ask such a question... Let's say that a website posted a picture of me, without my consent, and I want to be removed (it's something private, could compromise my career if it's seen by someone that shouldn't). I sent them an email asking nicely that they should remove it, but they didn't respond and the picture is still there. Using 'Whois' I found that the website is hosted by GoDaddy. Is there a way (an email address, for ex.) to report to GoDaddy that one of the sites they're hosting does something illegal and to force them to remove the photo? I searched the site and found nothing about such a thing. Thnaks in advance!

    Under some circumstances, Shotwell shows no photo thumbnails while importing. I was trying to download some pictures from my camera (Canon EOS 400D) with Shotwell and the program didn't show any preview for the pictures before downloading them (it just shows a "forbidden" snapshot). After importing them everything seems fine. I've found this bug report but no solution is given for now. It seems there could be a solution for EOS cameras, according to the last comment. This guy links to a patch, but it's not downloadable. Any ideas of where to obtain a deb package of this patch or of any other solution?

  • ubuntu 13.10 secondary monitor - doesn't redraw properly

    Hi I've just installed Ubuntu 13.10 on a Lenovo w350 and am having some issues with graphics driver. standard nouveau drivers work great on the laptop display but when I attach an external display it goes bad on the external monitor, seems it's not re-drawing properly. (Photo attached). I've tried other drivers but none of them detect the external monitor when connected.     I'm having a kernel panic problem - my machine will run for hours, maybe all day and then have a panic attack. And just a month ago I left the job, and now i got an offer to develop an iPhone/iPad app. I need to develop an universal app which has frames like PicFrame in which photos must adjust accordingly, with customizable frames, few photo effects like in instagram (Not exactly same but something like it) and then user can share photos on Facebook, tumbler,dropbox, etc. I might need around 30 days time to develop the desired app. Note that designing is not my part, I need to develop and test it thoroughly.     I am trying to make available on my website a voice chat for a small group of people that allows some other means to interact such as text messaging, photo sharing, file sharing, simple drawing and silly games. In other words, something similar to older MSN Messenger, but on the web. Any ideas on what to use? To clarify, I am looking for suggestions on languages and libraries to use. I want to be able to fully customize it as much as possible because I might want to add other (somewhat interesting) functions later. Low-level programming is fine if required, but platform dependency isn't that much preferred.

    I have Samsung 530U4C. How can I configure 3-finger gestures to work? Choosing next photo using 3 finger "scrool" worked in Windows 7. If I use synclient TapButton3=2 I may use it as medium mouse button, but there's problem: it gets cancelled after reboot, and as I read over the Internet, sometime else. Moreover, it would be great to see all gestures my laptop support and configure them all as I need. I find some info about touchegg, but I didn't manage to understand what it exactly is and even run it. Two-finger gestures works fine(configured using System setting menu)

    I'm running 12.04 Precise Pangolin, Kernel 3.2.0-32 w/ GNOME 3.4.2 I perused the prior questions/answers and did not find exactly the same problem, I am concerned that AUTOFSCK, Grub or some other critical event that needs some attention ? Any idea on how to get my video clean during boot? Once I get past the boot screen the video driver/card, etc is performing beautifully !     I am setting up a personal website and I would like to be able to share certain files with friends (e.g. photo albums or documents). Of course, each of the files should only be accessible to certain people, for example with a password or a private address. I would like to have a simple system, easy to maintain. I'm quite sure that Wordpress would let me know do something but keeping a Wordpress installation just for sharing a few files per month seems too much work. I am thinking of using the Apache capabilities for folder or file password protecting. Is this the best idea? Or would it be better just to block the directory navigation so that only people with the full path for each of the files can download them? Thanks!
