  I am constantly switching between a project written in C# 4.0 and another one written in Java. I find it very difficult to read the code in Java, and I think it's because of its colors (or lack of them really) Is there any way to mimic the colors that VS.NET 2010 has inside eclipse? (even better would be to replace all its hotkeys for their equivalent in VS.NET, like ctrl+k for ctrl+f3, but I believe it would be utopic)

  I have a game world where the objects are in a grid based environment with the following restrictions. All of the triangles are 45-90-45 triangles that are unit length. They can only rotate 90°. The squares are of unit length and can not rotate (not that it matters) I have the Square vs Square detection down and it is very very solid and very fast (max vs min on x and y values) Wondering if there are any tricks I can employ since I have these restrictions on the triangles?

• MVC2 EditorTemplate for DropDownList

  I've spent the majority of the past week knee deep in the new templating functionality baked into MVC2. I had a hard time trying to get a DropDownList template working. The biggest problem I've been working to solve is how to get the source data for the drop down list to the template. I saw a lot of examples where you can put the source data in the ViewData dictionary (ViewData["DropDownSourceValuesKey"]) then retrieve them in the template itself (var sourceValues = ViewData["DropDownSourceValuesKey"];) This works, but I did not like having a silly string as the lynch pin for making this work. Below is an approach I've come up with and wanted to get opinions on this approach: here are my design goals: The view model should contain the source data for the drop down list Limit Silly Strings Not use ViewData dictionary Controller is responsible for filling the property with the source data for the drop down list Here's my View Model: public class CustomerViewModel { [ScaffoldColumn(false)] public String CustomerCode{ get; set; } [UIHint("DropDownList")] [DropDownList(DropDownListTargetProperty = "CustomerCode"] [DisplayName("Customer Code")] public IEnumerable<SelectListItem> CustomerCodeList { get; set; } public String FirstName { get; set; } public String LastName { get; set; } public String PhoneNumber { get; set; } public String Address1 { get; set; } public String Address2 { get; set; } public String City { get; set; } public String State { get; set; } public String Zip { get; set; } } My View Model has a CustomerCode property which is a value that the user selects from a list of values. I have a CustomerCodeList property that is a list of possible CustomerCode values and is the source for a drop down list. I've created a DropDownList attribute with a DropDownListTargetProperty. DropDownListTargetProperty points to the property which will be populated based on the user selection from the generated drop down (in this case, the CustomerCode property). Notice that the CustomerCode property has [ScaffoldColumn(false)] which forces the generator to skip the field in the generated output. My DropDownList.ascx file will generate a dropdown list form element with the source data from the CustomerCodeList property. The generated dropdown list will use the value of the DropDownListTargetProperty from the DropDownList attribute as the Id and the Name attributes of the Select form element. So the generated code will look like this: <select id="CustomerCode" name="CustomerCode"> <option>... </select> This works out great because when the form is submitted, MVC will populate the target property with the selected value from the drop down list because the name of the generated dropdown list IS the target property. I kinda visualize it as the CustomerCodeList property is an extension of sorts of the CustomerCode property. I've coupled the source data to the property. NOTE: you have to override the CreateMetadata method of the DataAnnotationsModelMetadataProvider for the DropDownListAttribute. • Where is the documentation for MSBUILD arguments to run MSDEPLOY?

  There is an excellent PDC talk available here which describes the new MSDEPLOY features in Visual Studio 2010 - as well as how to deploy an application within TFS. The talk explains some of the command line parameters such as : /p:DeployOnBuild /p:DeployTarget=MsDeployPublish /p:CreatePackageOnPublish=True /p:MSDeployPublishMethod=InProc /p:MSDeployServiceURL=localhost /p:DeployIISAppApth="Default Web Site" But where is the documentation for this - explaining how they work and what i should use? Most of these turn up very few or zero results when searching. Isn't there some actual documentation for these parameters somewhere? I'd rather use these to deploy than try to add a command line exec command to run the package. I've managed to create a web deployment package, which TFS is copying to the output. But I'm ending up with all kinds of errors trying to actually deploy the package. Currently in my build configuration in TFS I have the following arguments for MSBuild Arguments /p:DeployOnBuild=True /p:DeployTarget=MsDeployPublish /p:Configuration=Release /p:CreatePackageOnPublish=True /p:DeployIisAppPath=staging.example.com /p:MsDeployServiceUrl=localhost This however gives me this error : Is there any actual real documentation for these arguments? It would probably take me about 5 minutes to get it running the package by the command line, but i want to get them deploying like this because it will simplify multiple configurations later.

But I want to get the whole deployment running through msbuild using these arguments and not a separate call to msdeploy or running the package .cmd file. How can I do this? PS. Yes I do have the Web Deployment Agent Service running. I also have the management service running under IIS. I've tried using both.   Hi I have a template partial view, which used to render a model named VerificationCode, this model has a element 'CaptchaGeneratedText' which is hidden in the view and set value by Html.HiddenFor(m=m.CaptchaGeneratedText, captchaText), the problem is when view post, in the model validation the value of element 'CaptchaGeneratedText' is null, but it should not be as varant 'captchaText' has some value. meanwhile, the other element 'CaptchaUserInput' of this model does have value. Anybody have experienced similiar problem? Sorry I was unable to submit script file.

• How do I deploy building blocks (quick parts) for Microsoft Outlook 2007?

  I want to deploy some building blocks for Microsoft Outlook 2007. Microsoft has put up a poor solution at http://office.microsoft.com/en-us/outlook/HA102086531033.aspx#4 that asks you to save a template. That solution would require you to distribute that template to all the clients. An optimal solution would allow you to put the template containing the building blocks somewhere on the network and simply use the ”Workgroup building blocks path” group policy setting for shared paths in Microsoft Office 2007. Sadly, Outlook doesn’t respect that policy. Also, the described solution mentioned in the article above doesn’t work. Step 4 requests you to save the template as a Word Template after first asking you to save it as an Outlook Template. It seems that they copy&pasted the steps from the Word article and forgot to check whether it worked (and adjust the steps accordingly). Anyway, does anyone have any suggestions for how to distribute the building blocks without distributing NormalEmail.dotm (which will overwrite the clients’ own building blocks each time it is updated).   Since the last security changes in Java 7u40, it is required to sign a JNLP file. This can either be done by adding the final JNLP in JNLP-INF/APPLICATION.JNLP, or by providing a template JNLP in JNLP-INF/APPLICATION_TEMPLATE.JNLP in the signed main jar. The first way works well, but we would like to allow to pass a previously unknown number of runtime arguments to our application. Therefore, our APPLICATION_TEMPLATE.JNLP looks like this: <?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?> <jnlp codebase="*"> <information> <title>...</title> <vendor>...</vendor> <description>...</description> <offline-allowed /> </information> <security> <all-permissions/> </security> <resources> <java version="1.7+" href="http://java.sun.com/products/autodl/j2se" /> <jar href="launcher/launcher.jar" main="true"/> <property name="jnlp...." value="*" /> <property name="jnlp..." value="*" /> </resources> <application-desc main-class="..."> * </application-desc> </jnlp> The problem is the * inside of the application-desc tag. It is possible to wildcard a fixed number of arguments using multiple argument tags (see code below), but then it is not possible to provide more or less arguments to the application (Java Webstart will no start with an empty argument tag). <application-desc main-class="..."> <argument>*</argument> <argument>*</argument> <argument>*</argument> </application-desc> Does someone can confirm this problem and/or has a solution for passing a previously undefined number of runtime arguments to the Java application? • Django cannot find my templatetags, even though it's in INSTALLED_APPS and has a __init__.py

  I just installed django-compress (http://code.google.com/p/django-compress) into /Library/Frameworks/Python.framework/Versions/2.6/lib/python2.6/site-packages/compress. I added 'compress' to INSTALLED_APPS. In my template file, I wrote {% load compressed %}. I got the error: 'compressed' is not a valid tag library: Could not load template library from django.templatetags.compressed, No module named compressed I verified that there is an init.py in compress, as well as in compress/templatetags/. I tried putting the compress directory into PYTHONPATH. I ran python and wrote "import compress" and that worked. Your suggestions would be very appreciated! What else can I try?

  Hi I am trying to select count of rows from a table which has foreign keys of two tables. The C# code threw the error mentioned below. So, I added a primary key column to the table (schema as follows) and regenerated the code. But still the same error is coming.   If I have a property whose display format is dependent on the value of another property in the view model how do I create a display template for it? The combination of field1's display being dependent on field2's value will be used throughout the app and I would like to encapsulate this in a MVC 2 display template. To be more specific, I've already create a display template (Social.ascx) for custom data type Social that masks a social security number for display. For instance, XXX-XX-1234. [DataType("Social")] public string SocialSecurityNumber { get; set; } All employees also have an employeeID. Certain companies use the employee's social security number as either the whole employee id or as part of it. I need to also mask the employeeID if it contains the social. I'd like to create another display template (EmpID.ascx) to perform this task. [DataType("EmpID")] public string EmployeeID { get; set; } The problem is that I don't know how to get both properties in the "EmpID" template to be able to perform the comparison. • Dojox grid having problem with Contentpane

  the grid appears properly on template's first loading. But when you click the paging button to load flooders.php thru list_result1() only the paging buttons will appear.   I'm trying to write an auto-scaffolder for Index views. I'd like to be able to pass in a collection of models or view-models (e.g., IQueryable<MyViewModel>) and get back an HTML table that uses the DisplayName attribute for the headings (th elements) and Html.Display(propertyName) for the cells (td elements). Each row should correspond to one item in the collection.   Hi, I'm trying to generate some charts using django-googlecharts. This works fine for rather static data but in one case I would like to render a different number of lines, based on a variable. I tried this: {% chart %} {% for line in line_data %} {% chart-data line %} {% endfor %} {% chart-size "390x200" %} {% chart-type "line" %} {% chart-labels days %} {% endchart %} Line data is a list containing lists. The template code fails with "Caught an exception while rendering: max() arg is an empty sequence". I guess the problem is that I try to loop over templatetags. What approach could be used here? Or am I completely missing something? Is this doable using inclusion tags? Thanks for your help.
