• Turning user ID into name (seperate tables) in PHP

  I am currently trying to display the username of people who i am following, the problem is that during the following process, only the ID of me and the person i'm following is stored. I've got it to the point where the ID's are displayed but i'd like to show the names hyperlinked. $p_id is the profile ID. Here's what I've got: $following = mysql_query("SELECT `follower`, `followed` FROM user_follow WHERE follower=$p_id"); I am following: <?php while($apple = mysql_fetch_array($following)){ echo '<a href="'.$apple['followed'].'">+'.$apple['followed'].'</a> '; }?> The usernames are in a different table "users" under the field "username" - I need them to match up with the ID's that are currently displayed, and be displayed.   When I code a popup menu, I can check the mouse event and then before calling show() prepare the menu. Now I want a similar functionality for drop down menus, that live in the menu bar. • Local variable and Try/Catch

  I get an error, a red line below the variable intAge in the if-statement in the code. It says the variable is local, but how could it be local when it is declared in the beginning of the code? Does it have to do with the Try/Catch part? The reason why my code looks like it does, is just beacuse I have to use a Try/Catch in the code for this task. • Message box does not work in release mode

  I have the following code in a C# windows form application. if (myGrid.Rows.Count != 0) { // do something } else { MessageBox.Show("Test"); } The message box shows up in Debug mode but not in release mode. Any idea why? I am having similar issues with other code as well For instance if (!myParameter) this.mycheckBox.Enabled = false; else this.mycheckBox.Enabled = true; The above code works in debug mode not in release. • Problem running firefox built from source (on Ubuntu 9.10)

  The title of the question sums it up pretty well. I've downloaded the source for firefox 3.6 and built it (no errors), but when I try to run it, I get a warning that says: (firefox-bin:2857): GLib-WARNING **: g_set_prgname() called multiple times I'm not sure what to try now. Any suggestions? Or even a better place to ask this question? *EDIT - It's not that I only get a warning, that wouldn't bother me. The problem is that the warning is the only thing that ever happens (no firefox windows show up or anything). When I run it from the terminal, that warning shows up twice and then nothing else happens (it just hangs and I have to Ctrl-C it).

  Hi, This is my doubt on what we regard as a "unit" while unit-testing. say I have a method like this, public String myBigMethod() { String resultOne = moduleOneObject.someOperation(); String resultTwo = moduleTwoObject.someOtherOperation(resultOne); return resultTwo; } ( I have unit-tests written for someOperation() and someOtherOperation() seperately ) and this myBigMethod() kinda integrates ModuleOne and ModuleTwo by using them as above, then, is the method "myBigMethod()" still considered as a "unit" ? Should I be writing a test for this "myBigMethod()" ? Say I have written a test for myBigMethod()... If testSomeOperation() fails, it would also result in testMyBigMethod() to fail... Now testMyBigMethod()'s failure might show a not-so-correct-location of the bug. One-Cause causing two tests to fail doesn't look so good to me. But donno if there's any better way...? Is there ? • Proper chart scaling in Reporting Services 2005

  I'm developing a simple bar-chart in Reporting Services 2005 with a stored procedure as data-source. The values in this graph can be both positive and negative, and can span a very big range, and hence I cannot specify any non-dynamic scale that will work for all scenarios. The problem I'm facing is that the automatic scaling pretty much sucks. I get no line to show where the zero-point is, and the y-scale labels are from top to bottom: 8818 -191181 -391181 etc etc... So my question is, what is the best approach to make the scale more adapted to human reading? Is there any guide out there? Does reporting services 2008 handle this better? Also, moving away from Reporting Services is not really an option. I realize how to put values and expression in the max, min, and the gridline interval fields, although its more of a question what expressions I should put there.

• Last element not getting insert in Tree

  So I was asked to make a Binary Tree in Haskell taking as input a list of Integers. Below is my code. My problem is that the last element of the list is not getting inserted in the Tree. • Setting cookie for site in http and https under different subdomains in PHP

  Situation: 1. I'm trying run an https store(xcart) under one domain secure.mydomain and I want to have access to a cookie it sets in http www.mydomain 2. I'm Running PHP on apache(MAMP), testing in firefox with firecookie 3. The existing code sets cookies to .secure.mydomain. I'm not sure if this is xcart related, but setcookie is actually called using secure.mydomain. I'm not sure why the "." is appended. Problems: 1. When I try to use setcookie in https to use the domain .mydomain or just mydomain, no cookie is created, whether I'm running the store under http or https. The testing code I'm using is: setcookie('three', 'two', 0, "/", ".mydomain"); If I set the cookie to secure.mydomain or .secure.mydomain it does show up. Is there a reason the cookie isn't showing up?

• Noob question: Draw a quad parallel to the view.

  Hi all, ok what I want to do is to draw a quad in the scene that lays on a plane parallel to the view. So it should appear flat. More in particular, I think I didn't get very well how the mechanism of gluLookAt works in comparison with the functions glTranslate and glRotate: If I position the view "manually" using the functions glTranslate and glRotate whenever I draw an object its position is relative to the current view. And I understand that this is due to the transformation matrix in the stack. However when I use the gluLookAt that should automatically set the view, the coordinates of the object I want to draw must be "absolute" to show it properly. Thanks in advance.

  Hi I am new to jQuery, and this is the page I'm currently developing. http://90.230.237.71/gandhi.html (Hope that works now :P) When I hit "Show/hide gallery" all the images are first opened vertically, and later they are corrected to their horizontal placement, that's the problem. They should be horizontal right away! I don't know if this is due to jQuerys slideDown or entirely CSS-related, but the code is all there for you. Initally, the images are set to display: none, perhaps they then are invisibly stored vertically. Then slideDown is performed and last, the CSS-attributes are changed to "display: inline". Perhaps I need to change execution order of slideDown and setting the CSS-attributes... but how? I NEED HELP... for many reasons, but I only want you to help me with this one ;) And also, please actually look at the code before making any assumptions. It's all there in the code.

• Fonts in a multi-platform environment

  What is the best way to deal with fonts in a multi-platform distributed system? If I want to use a common font across all systems to show to the user, what's the best way to do this. From the little I've been reading each platform looks to have fonts that are of the same family (ie serif, sans-serif) but with different names. CSS looks to have the functionality baked in where it will make the best selection it can of font on the users machine. Is there similar functionality either in system libraries or external libraries for Windows & Linux. I'm using C++ mainly? Can someone point me in the right direction for documentation as well?
