  • Question about inserting assembly code in C++

    - by Bruce
    I am working on VC++ compiler. I want to accomplish the following The variables s.AddrFrame.Offset and s.AddrStack.Offset contain the value of EBP and ESP respectively. I want to extract the value of old EBP and the return address. Assuming the address EBP + 1 contains the old 32 bit EBP value and EBP + 5 the return address I wrote the following code: unsigned int old_ebp = 0; unsigned int ret_addr = 0; __asm{ mov old_ebp, DWORD PTR [s.AddrFrame.Offset + 1] mov ret_addr, DWORD PTR [s.AddrStack.Offset + 5] } But this is not compiling xxxx.cpp(1130) : error C2415: improper operand type Please Help

  • PHP - complete url parser help

    - by Mark
    I have been trying to find an effective url parser, php's own does not include subdomain or extension. On php.net a number of users had contributed and made this: function parseUrl($url) { $r = "^(?:(?P<scheme>\w+)://)?"; $r .= "(?:(?P<login>\w+):(?P<pass>\w+)@)?"; $r .= "(?P<host>(?:(?P<subdomain>[-\w\.]+)\.)?" . "(?P<domain>[-\w]+\.(?P<extension>\w+)))"; $r .= "(?::(?P<port>\d+))?"; $r .= "(?P<path>[\w/]*/(?P<file>\w+(?:\.\w+)?)?)?"; $r .= "(?:\?(?P<arg>[\w=&]+))?"; $r .= "(?:#(?P<anchor>\w+))?"; $r = "!$r!"; // Delimiters preg_match ( $r, $url, $out ); return $out; } Unfortunately it fails on paths with a '-' and I can't for the life of me workout how to amend it to accept '-' in the path name. Thanks

  • Webservice for serial port devices

    - by camx
    Hi I want to create a remote webservice for an application that is now avaliable only localy. This application controlls three devices (each is controlled separately) connected on serial port. The problem is that I don't know how to take care of passing back information that a device return requested data. For example - I send move command to the motion device (which is very slow and can take a minute or more). Can I just set a big timeout on the client side (and server side) and return for example a true/false if operation is completed or is this a bad idea? Is SOAP with big timeouts ok? And the other question is if Mono on Linux (Ubuntu 9.10, Mono 2.4) is stable enought for making a web service or should I chose Java or some other language? I'm open for recommendations. Thanks for your help!

  • numeric sort with NSSortDescriptor for NSFetchedResultsController

    - by edziubudzik
    I'm trying to numerically sort data that's displayed in a UITableView. Before that I used such a sort descriptor: sortDescriptor = [[NSSortDescriptor alloc] initWithKey:@"name" ascending:YES selector:@selector(caseInsensitiveCompare:)]; now I'd like to use block to sort this numerically like this: sortDescriptor = [[NSSortDescriptor alloc] initWithKey:@"name" ascending:YES comparator:^NSComparisonResult(id obj1, id obj2) { return [((NSString *)obj1) compare:(NSString *)obj2 options:NSCaseInsensitiveSearch | NSNumericSearch]; }]; but it sorts the data incorectly causing conflict with section names in NSFetchedResultsController. So I tryed to immitate the old sorting with a comparator block - just to be sure that the problem is not caused by numeric comparison. The problem is that those lines: sortDescriptor = [[NSSortDescriptor alloc] initWithKey:@"name" ascending:YES comparator:^NSComparisonResult(id obj1, id obj2) { return [((NSString *)obj1) caseInsensitiveCompare:(NSString *)obj2]; }]; also cause the same error and I don't see why they won't sort the data in the same way the first method did... Any ideas?

  • Why have private fields in data contracts modified through public ones?

    - by Nordvind
    When you make a new WCF project, sample service is generated for you. The default data contract is (I've just changed the string type field title): [DataContract] public class CompositeType { bool boolValue = true; string name = ""; [DataMember] public bool BoolValue { get { return boolValue; } set { boolValue = value; } } [DataMember] public string Name { get { return name; } set { name = value; } } } What is the point of having those private fields boolValue and name? Is it a good practice writing some data sanitizing or some other manipulations in contract, thus bloating it? It seems the only sane reason for me not writing to fields directly. So is it a bloatware or it has some reason behind it?

  • Why do I get "2010-01-01 00:00:00 +900" from "2010-12-31 15:00:00 +000"?

    - by mikezang
    I have NSDate, it will be shown as below if I used NSLog(@"%@", date.description); 2010-12-31 15:00:00 +0000 it will be shown as if I used NSLog(@"%@", [date descriptionWithLocale:[[NSLocale currentLocale] localeIdentifier]]); Saturday, January 1, 2011 12:00:00 AM Japan Standard Time But it will be show as below if I used NSLog(@"%@", [date formattedDateString]); 2010-01-01 00:00:00 +0900 Where do I make mistake? (NSString *)formattedDateString { return [self formattedStringUsingFormat:@"YYYY-MM-dd HH:mm:ss ZZZ"]; } (NSString *)formattedStringUsingFormat:(NSString *)dateFormat { NSDateFormatter *formatter = [[NSDateFormatter alloc] init]; [formatter setDateFormat:dateFormat]; NSString *ret = [formatter stringFromDate:self]; [formatter release]; return ret; }

  • What is the most efficient functional version of the following imperative code?

    - by justin.r.s.
    I'm learning Scala and I want to know the best way of expressing this imperative pattern using Scala's functional programming capabilities. def f(l: List[Int]): Boolean = { for (e <- l) { if (test(e)) return true } } return false } The best I can come up with is along the lines of: l map { e => test(e) } contains true But this is less efficient since it calls test() on each element, whereas the imperative version stops on the first element that satisfies test(). Is there a more idiomatic functional programming technique I can use to the same effect? The imperative version seems awkward in Scala.

  • DataContractAttribute with Shared Assembly

    - by Sanju
    Hi All, Is it necessary to decorate custom objects with [DataContract] and [DataMember] when using shared assemblies (as opposed to auto proxy generation)? The reason I ask is that I have encountered the following scenario: Suppose the following object is implemented in my service: public class baseClass { Guid _guid; public baseClass() { _guid = Guid.NewGuid() } public Guid ReturnGuid { get {return _guid;}} } public class newClass : baseClass { int _someValue; public newClass {} public int SomeValue { get {return _someValue;} set {_someValue = value;} } } [ServiceContract] public IService { [OperationContract] newClass SomeOperation(); } In my client (with shared assemblie) I can happily recieve and use a serialized newClass when SomeOperation is called - even though I have not marked it as a DataContract. However, as soon as I do mark it with DataContract and use DataMember then it complains that set is not implemented on ReturnGuid in the base class. Could somebody explain why it works fine when I do not decorate with DataContract and DataMember. Many thanks.

  • Validating primitive types in ASP.NET MVC

    - by Alex
    I've implemented the following classes to validate data public abstract class Validated { public bool IsValid { get { return (GetRuleViolations().Count() == 0); } } public abstract IEnumerable<RuleViolation> GetRuleViolations(); } public partial class User: Validated { public override IEnumerable<RuleViolation> GetRuleViolations() { if (this.Age < 1) yield return new RuleViolation("Age can't be less than 1"); } } It works great! When the form is submitted I just do if (user.IsValid == false) blah... But I still need to validate that the Age is an integer int a = 0; if (!int.TryParse(age, out a)) { error = "Not integer"; // ... } How can I move this to my model?

  • How do I calculate someone's age in Java?

    - by nojevive
    I want to return an age in years as an int in a Java method. What I have now is the following where getBirthDate() returns a Date object (with the birth date ;-)): public int getAge() { long ageInMillis = new Date().getTime() - getBirthDate().getTime(); Date age = new Date(ageInMillis); return age.getYear(); } But since getYear() is deprecated I'm wondering if there is a better way to do this? I'm not even sure this works correctly, since I have no unit tests in place (yet).

  • Compiling C++ when two classes references one another

    - by Omry
    I am trying to write a simple wrapper around a connection pointer that will return it to the pool when the wrapper is destroyed. but it wont compile because the ConnectionPool and AutoConn need each other to be declared. I tried to use forward deceleration but it didn't work. how do I solve this? (using g++) class Connection {}; class ConnectionPool { Connection *m_c; public: AutoConn getConn() { return AutoConn(this, m_c); // by value } void releaseConnection(Connection *c) { } }; class AutoConn { ConnectionPool* m_pool; Connection *m_connection; public: AutoConn(ConnectionPool* pool, Connection *c) : m_pool(pool), m_connection(c) {} ~AutoConn() { m_pool->releaseConnection(m_connection); } };

  • Problem with pointer copy in C

    - by Stefano Salati
    I radically re-edited the question to explain better my application, as the xample I made up wasn't correct in many ways as you pointed out: I have one pointer to char and I want to copy it to another pointer and then add a NULL character at the end (in my real application, the first string is a const, so I cannot jsut modify it, that's why I need to copy it). I have this function, "MLSLSerialWriteBurst" which I have to fill with some code adapt to my microcontroller. tMLError MLSLSerialWriteBurst( unsigned char slaveAddr, unsigned char registerAddr, unsigned short length, const unsigned char *data ) { unsigned char *tmp_data; tmp_data = data; *(tmp_data+length) = NULL; // this function takes a tmp_data which is a char* terminated with a NULL character ('\0') if(EEPageWrite2(slaveAddr,registerAddr,tmp_data)==0) return ML_SUCCESS; else return ML_ERROR; } I see there's a problem here: tha fact that I do not initialize tmp_data, but I cannot know it's length.

  • Restricting numeric input javascript problem

  • const member functions can call const member functions only?

    - by Abhi
    Hi all. Do const member functions call only const member functions? class Transmitter{ const static string msg; mutable int size; public: void xmit() const{ size = compute(); cout<<msg; } private: int compute() const{return 5;} }; string const Transmitter::msg = "beep"; int main(){ Transmitter t; t.xmit(); return EXIT_SUCCESS; } If i dont make compute() a const, then the compiler complains. Is it because since a const member function is not allowed to modify members, it wont allow any calls to non-consts since it would mean that the const member function would be 'indirectly' modifying the data members?

  • JSF2: Re-render all components on page that have a given ID, without absolute paths

    - by tlind
    Is there any way in JSF 2.0/PrimeFaces of re-rendering all components (using the PrimeFaces update="id1 id2..." attribute or the <f:ajax render="..."/> tag) that have got a given ID, regardless of whether they are in the same form that contains the button triggering the AJAX re-render or not? For example, I want my button to re-render all sections on a page that visualize the user's current shopping basket. Right now, I always have to specify the absolute path to the components that I want to get updated, e.g. update=":header:basket :left-sidebar:menu:basket" which is rather impractical if the structure of the page changes (besides, I have not been able to figure out the correct path for one of these components). I already tried to implement a custom EL function like this, which traverses the component tree: update="{utilBean.findAllComponentsMatchingId('basket')}" but at the time that function is evaluated, apparently not the entire component tree has been set up as it doesn't contain the components I am looking for. How can I deal with this? There certainly must be an easy way of doing AJAX-based updates of sections of the page that are not part of the current <h:form>? Thanks!

  • Executing a process in windows server 2003 and ii6 from code - permissions error

    - by kurupt_89
    I have a problem executing a process from our testing server. On my localhost using windows XP and iis5.1 I changed the machine.config file to have the line - I then changed the login for iis to log on as local system account and allow server to interact with desktop. This fixed my problem executing a process from code in xp. When using the same method on windows server 2003 (using iis6 isolation mode) the process does not get executed. Here is the code to execute the process (I have tested the inputs to iecapt through the command line and an image is generated) - public static void GenerateImageToDisk(string ieCaptPath, string url, string path, int delay) { url = FixUrl(url); ieCaptPath = FixPath(ieCaptPath); string arguments = @"--url=""{0}"" --out=""{1}"" --min-width=0 --delay={2}"; arguments = string.Format(arguments, url, path, delay); ProcessStartInfo ieCaptProcessStartInfo = new ProcessStartInfo(ieCaptPath + "IECapt.exe"); ieCaptProcessStartInfo.RedirectStandardOutput = true; ieCaptProcessStartInfo.WindowStyle = ProcessWindowStyle.Hidden; ieCaptProcessStartInfo.UseShellExecute = false; ieCaptProcessStartInfo.Arguments = arguments; ieCaptProcessStartInfo.WorkingDirectory = ieCaptPath; Process ieCaptProcess = Process.Start(ieCaptProcessStartInfo); ieCaptProcess.WaitForExit(600000); ieCaptProcess.Close(); }

  • PHP getting full server name including port number and protocol

    - by vivid-colours
    In PHP, is there a reliable and good way of getting these things: Protocol: i.e. http or https Servername: e.g. localhost Portnumber: e.g. 8080 I can get the server name using $_SERVER['SERVER_NAME']. I can kind of get the protocol but I don't think it's perfect: if(strtolower(substr($_SERVER["SERVER_PROTOCOL"],0,5))=='https') { return "https"; } else { return "http"; } I don't know how to get the port number though. The port numbers I am using are not 80.. they are 8080 and 8888. Thank you.

  • Cocoa memory management - object going nil on me

    - by SirRatty
    Hi all, Mac OS X 10.6, Cocoa project, with retain/release gc I've got a function which: iterates over a specific directory, scans it for subfolders (included nested ones), builds an NSMutableArray of strings (one string per found subfolder path), and returns that array. e.g. (error handling removed for brevity). NSMutableArray * ListAllSubFoldersForFolderPath(NSString *folderPath) { NSMutableArray *a = [NSMutableArray arrayWithCapacity:100]; NSString *itemName = nil; NSFileManager *fm = [NSFileManager defaultManager]; NSDirectoryEnumerator *e = [fm enumeratorAtPath:folderPath]; while (itemName = [e nextObject]) { NSString *fullPath = [folderPath stringByAppendingPathComponent:itemName]; BOOL isDirectory; if ([fm fileExistsAtPath:fullPath isDirectory:&isDirectory]) { if (isDirectory is_eq YES) { [a addObject: fullPath]; } } } return a; } The calling function takes the array just once per session, keeps it around for later processing: static NSMutableArray *gFolderPaths = nil; ... gFolderPaths = ListAllSubFoldersForFolderPath(myPath); [gFolderPaths retain]; All appears good at this stage. [gFolderPaths count] returns the correct number of paths found, and [gFolderPaths description] prints out all the correct path names. The problem: When I go to use gFolderPaths later (say, the next run through my event loop) my assertion code (and gdb in Xcode) tells me that it is nil. I am not modifying gFolderPaths in any way after that initial grab, so I am presuming that my memory management is screwed and that gFolderPaths is being released by the runtime. My assumptions/presumptions I do not have to retain each string as I add it to the mutable array because that is done automatically, but I do have to retain the the array once it is handed over to me from the function, because I won't be using it immediately. Is this correct? Any help is appreciated.

  • [app-engine-java-groovy] One-to-Many relationship. Select objects from datastore.

    - by Olexandr
    Hi. I've omitted some code(package declarations, imports, other fields) for shortness. I have here simple One-to-Many relation. It worked fine till this moment. @PersistenceCapable(identityType = IdentityType.APPLICATION, detachable="true") class Restaurant implements Serializable { @PrimaryKey @Persistent(valueStrategy = IdGeneratorStrategy.IDENTITY) Key id @Persistent(mappedBy = "restaurant") List<RestaurantAddress> addresses = new ArrayList<RestaurantAddress>() } //-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-= @PersistenceCapable(identityType = IdentityType.APPLICATION, detachable="true") class RestaurantAddress implements Serializable { @PrimaryKey @Persistent(valueStrategy = IdGeneratorStrategy.IDENTITY) Key id @Persistent Restaurant restaurant } Now i need to get(select) all the Restaurants from DB: def getRestaurantsToExport(final String dst, final int count) { String field = restaurantExportFields[dst] return transactionExecute() { PersistenceManager pm -> Query q = pm.newQuery(Restaurant.class) q.filter = "$field == null" q.setRange(0, count) return q.execute() } } But there are on problem - query gives me 12 restaurants(as in DB) but every Restaurant has 0 Address but in Datastore every Restaurant has minimum 2 addresses. Have anyone the same problem or knows the solution ?

  • C++ allocate objects on heap of base class with protected constructors via inheritance

    - by KRao
    I have a class with protected constructor: class B { protected: B(){}; }; Now I derive from it and define two static functions and I manage to actually create objects of the class B, but not on the heap: class A : public B { public: static B createOnStack() {return B();} //static B* createOnHeap() {return new B;} //Compile time Error on VS2010 }; B b = A::createOnStack(); //This works on VS2010! The question is: 1) Is VS2010 wrong in allowing the first case? 2) Is it possible to create objects of B without modifying B in any way (no friendship and no extra functions). I am asking, because it is possible to make something similar when dealing with instances of B and its member functions, see: http://accu.org/index.php/journals/296 Thank you in advance for any suggestion! Kind regards
