• Micrsoft Silverlight 3 cannot create service reference to localhost:port

  Windows Server 2003 (IIS 6) Visual Studio 2008 .NET FrameWork 3.5 SP1 I am a .NET developer for a living and I have over 40 hours in the problem Project type = "Silverlight Navigation Application", "APS.NET Web Site" (when I tried it as "ASP.NET Web Application Project" I could not copy it to the production web site - well I could copy it but I could not make it run) Created a service.cs on the .Web side of the application. Created a reference to that service.cs on the Silverlight side. For a time all is good as I can reference the service as localhost:port (e.g. localhost:1374) in Visual Studio and debug both Silverlight side and service.cs To access the application in production mode (from IE) I update the service refrence and replace localhost:port with the IP address. The problem with the IP address is I cannot debug the service.cs so I have to change it back to localhost:port to debug. Now to the problem. After a period of time localhost:port just plain breaks. I get an error message no service at the other end Yes I know the port can change - that is not the problem - the port on the service side just plain breaks! For example from Visual Studio from the Silverlight side of the project right click "Service Reference", "Add Service Reverence". It finds 1 service in the application on a port. But when I click that service under "Services:" in the modal dialog box "Add Service Reference" I get an error: There was an error downloading 'http://localhost:1377/SehaleCSS.Web/Service.svc'. The request failed with the error message: -- Could not load file or assembly 'App_Web_tipnndfq, If I go back to the IP address the service is repsponding (with the right answer) The service just plain goes a while responding to localhost:port and then fails Even making NO change to service.cs it go a while then fails as a localhost:port It is not IIS environmental as I can go back to a prior saved version of the code and it works Something is happening that the .web side of the application is failing. It still works as an IP and it still exposes itself as a localhost:port but it fails to properly repsonde as a localhost:port.

• QTCreator 3.1 design tab not working

  I’m currently using QtCreator 3.1 and qt-everywhere-opensource-src-5.2.1 on Ubuntu 12.04 My project is correctly working, i.e., i can build it and run without any trouble. But i’ve got some problems with the design tab inside Qtcreator. First, on all qml file (even with example projects), i have an error message “Using Qt Quick code model instead of Qt Quick2 (M324) (4:1)” and i can’t use the design editor. Second, on qml files with other import than QtQuick 2.2 (for me QtQml.Models 2.1 and QtQuick.Controls 1.1), the import is underlined in red with the error message “QML module not found”. I’ve tried to edit the .pro file by adding QML2_IMPORT_PATH=/home/user/qt-everywhere-opensource-src-5.2.1/qtquickcontrols/qml/QtQuick/Controls/ (also tried with QML_IMPORT_PATH), it doesn’t work. Then, I tried to add it to my path in a terminal using “export QML_IMPORT_PATH=/home/user/qt-everywhere-opensource-src-5.2.1/qtquickcontrols/qml/QtQuick/Controls/” and this time, in the error message, i can see the added path in the error message, but it still doesn’t work. Anyone has an idea to help me ? Thx !

  I am trying to write an operator which converts between the differnt types of the same implementation. Error 2 error C2248: 'A::m_a' : cannot access private member declared in class 'A' d:\VC++\Vs8Console\Vs8Console\Vs8Console.cpp 30 Vs8Console I understand the error is because A<U> is a totally different type from A<T>. Is there any simple way of solving this (may be using a friend?) other than providing setter and getter methods? I am using Visual studio 2008 if it matters.

  I try to show the content from a PHP-file in a fancybox but I can't handle it. Now it's the following situation: If a file permission problem occures a <div id="error"> is shown on the website. I'd like to have the content from <div id="error"> in fancybox. Everything I try I get the notice "The requested content cannot be loaded. Please try again later." That means the fancybox, it the file permission error occures, should be shown when the page is loading and not like usual shown when some events like click or mouseover. For example, if the error exists, the following content should be shown in the fancybox: <div style="width:100px; height:100px; background:#f00;"> <p>Failure</p> </div> This snippet is located in a file security_check.php. Now there are two possibilities. The 1st is to load the security_check.php directly into the fancybox or to put in the mentioned above snippet. So: how to load file contents into the fancybox?

• unresolved token/symbol in MC++ wrapper class calling native code

  I'm new to MC++ and have basically no idea what's going on yet. In trying to get this working i've determined many things that don't work, i'm just looking for one of the ways that will work. I have a mc++ class as follows that seems to have to be a "ref" class to allow me to see any methods/properties. public ref class EmCeePlusPlus { static void Open(void) { Testor* t = new Testor(); Testor::Open(); }; }; extern public class Testor { public: Testor() { }; static void Open(void) { int x = 3; int xx = cli_lock(x); }; }; Now, the only reason i created the class Testor, and moved the call to cli_open to it, is because i was getting a unresolved external symbol if i put the same call in the ref class. In this current code, however, I get an uresolved token error and unresolved symbol error ONLY if i have the call to Testor::Open(). If that line is commented then it compiles fine. As it is I get the errors below. cli_lock() is native code that is able to be called externally by other native DLLs with not problems. • Pass object from JSON into MVC Controller - its always null ?

  Hi I have seen a few questions on here related to the a similar issue, I have read them, followed them, but still i have the same problem. I am basically creating an object in javascript and trying to call a method on the controller that will return a string of html. Not JSON. I've been playing around with dataType and contentType but still no joy. So apologies if the code snippets are a bit messy. • Can you do this with Hudson?

  I want to create a hudson job, that takes an id as a parameter. And use that id to calculate the svn-repo path. Where I work you have a svn path for every issue that you resolve. And then all the issues are joined into a single svn-path. What I want to do is to run static code analysis on the partial issues. So I think maybe having an Ant build.xml that I use for every issue, then, parametrize the job with the issue id. I have tried to achieve that but the svn path doesn't replace the parameter. I have tried with #issueId, %issueId%, ${issueId} and ${env.issueId} without success. • Domain validates but won't save

  I have the following setup. Class, say, Car that has a CarPart (belongsTo=[car:Car]). When I'm creating a Car I also want to create som default CarParts, so I do def car = new Car(bla bla bla) def part = new CarPart(car:car) Now, when I do car.validate() or part.validate() it seems fine. • Using array instead of lots of db queries in PHP

  My function looks like that. It works but does lots of work (recursively calls itself and does lots of db queries.). There must be another way to do same thing but with array (with one query). I can't figure out how to modify this function to get it work with array. • How do I access the names of VB6 modules from code?

  Hi All - It is unlikely that there is an answer for this one, but I'm asking anyway. I am currently maintaining some code, which is likely to be refactored soon. Before that happens, I want to make the standard error handling code, which is injected by an Add-In, more efficient and take up less space. One thing that annoys me is that every module has a constant called m_ksModuleName that is used to construct a big string, which is then rethrown from the error handler so we can trace the error stack. This is all template code, i.e. repetivitve, but I could easily strip it down to a procedure call. Now, I have fixed the code so that you can pass the Me reference to the procedure - but you can't do that for the BAS modules. Nor can you access the project name (the part which would be passed as part of a ProgramID, for instance) - although you get given it when you raise an error yourself. All these strings are contained in the EXE, DLL or OCX - believe me, I've used a debugger to find them. But how can I access these in code? -- Mark Bertenshaw

• NHibernate + Cannot insert the value NULL into...

  I've got a MS-SQL database with a table created with this code CREATE TABLE [dbo].[portfoliomanager]( [idPortfolioManager] [int] NOT NULL PRIMARY KEY IDENTITY, [name] [varchar](45) NULL ) so that idPortfolioManager is my primary key and also auto-incrementing. Now on my Windows WPF application I'm using NHibernate to help with adding/updating/removing/etc. data from the database. Here is the class that should be connecting to the portfoliomanager table namespace PortfolioManager { [Class(Table="portfoliomanager",NameType=typeof(PortfolioManagerClass))] public class PortfolioManagerClass { [Id(Name = "idPortfolioManager")] [Generator(1, Class = "identity")] public virtual int idPortfolioManager { get; set; } [NHibernate.Mapping.Attributes.Property(Name = "name")] public virtual string name { get; set; } public PortfolioManagerClass() { } } } and some short code to try and insert something PortfolioManagerClass portfolio = new PortfolioManagerClass(); Portfolio.name = "Brad's Portfolios"; The problem is, when I try running this, I get this error: {System.Data.SqlClient.SqlException: Cannot insert the value NULL into column 'idPortfolioManager', table 'PortfolioManagementSystem.dbo.portfoliomanager'; column does not allow nulls. INSERT fails. The statement has been terminated... with an outer exception of {"could not insert: [PortfolioManager.PortfolioManagerClass][SQL: INSERT INTO portfoliomanager (name) VALUES (?); select SCOPE_IDENTITY()]"} I'm hoping this is the last error I'll have to solve with NHibernate just to get it to do something, it's been a long process. Just as a note, I've also tried setting Class="native" and unsaved-value="0" with the same error. Thanks! Edit: Ok removing the 1, from Generator actually allows the program to run (not sure why that was even in the samples I was looking at) but it actually doesn't get added to the database. I logged in to the server and ran the sql server profiler tool and I never see the connection coming through or the SQL its trying to run, but NHibernate isn't throwing an error anymore. Starting to think it would be easier to just write SQL statements myself :(

  I'm a C# programmer trying to muddle through C++ to create a Windows Forms Application. I have a Windows Form that makes use of a user-created class. Basically I'm trying to use a constructor that takes parameters, but my form won't let me initialize the object with parameter. Here's the code, hopefully somebody can explain the problem to me because I'm completely baffled... Here's my header file: BankAcct.h public ref class BankAcct { private: int money; public: BankAcct(); BankAcct(int); void Deposit(int); void GetBalance(int&); }; And my definition file: BankAcct.cpp #include "StdAfx.h" #include "BankAcct.h" BankAcct::BankAcct() { money = 0; } BankAcct::BankAcct(int startAmt) { money = startAmt; } void BankAcct::Deposit(int depAmt) { money += depAmt; } void BankAcct::GetBalance(int& balance) { balance = money; } And finally my main form. Won't copy the whole thing, of course, but I'm trying to declare the new bank account object, and start it with a balance of say $50. private: BankAcct myAccount(50); //does not work! • What could trigger a change of http status to 500 on the client's end?

  We have a PHP web application that posts data to itself, and either displays an updated page based on that data, or redirects to another page. An example of this is a script with a paged list on it, where clicking on the Next link causes a post to the same page, which then returns an updated version of the page showing the new set of list items. One client is reporting that IE is displaying friendly error messages when the page updates itself instead of the correct behavior of displaying the updated page. Turning friendly error messages off "corrects" this problem, and displays the updated page normally, indicating no actual server error occurred. When testing from any location other than this client's our web app does not produce any http error statuses, and in this specific situation only produces 200 statuses. (According to Fiddler.) What could be interfering with the HTTP POST and changing the response's http status code to 500 (or another code that would trigger friendly errors in IE)? Are there certain proxies or other network tools that could be misconfigured or buggy in this manner? Is there any way we can alter our application (apart from avoiding posts to the same script, which is not feasible) to get around this misbehavior?

  Let's say I have the following J expression: # 3 ((|=0:)#]) 1+i.1000 This counts the number of numbers between 1 and 1000 that are evenly divisible by 3. (Now, before anyone points out that there's an easier way to do this, this question is about the syntax of J, and not mathematics.) Let's say I define a monadic function for this, as follows: f =: monad define # y ((|=0:)#]) 1+i.1000 ) This works great with a single argument, e.g., f 4 250 If I pass a list in, I get a length error: f 1 2 3 |length error: f Now, I completely understand why I get the length error. When you substitute the list 1 2 3 for the y argument of the monad, you get: # 1 2 3 ((|=0:)#]) 1+i.1000 If you know anything about J, it's pretty clear why the length error is occurring. So, I don't need an explanation of that. I want to define the function such that when I pass a list, it returns a list, e.g., f 1 2 3 1000 500 333 How can I either (a) redefine this function to take a list and return a list or (b) get the function to work on a list as-is without being redefined, perhaps using some adverb or other technique?

  Look at the following code: struct node { node(); //node(const node&); //#1 //node(node&&); //#2 virtual //#3 ~node (); node* volatile //#4 next; }; main() { node m(node()); //#5 node n=node(); //#6 } When compiled with gcc-4.6.1 it produces the following error: g++ -g --std=c++0x -c -o node.o node.cc node.cc: In constructor node::node(node&&): node.cc:3:8: error: expression node::next has side-effects node.cc: In function int main(): node.cc:18:14: note: synthesized method node::node(node&&) first required here As I understand the compiler fails to create default move or copy constructor on line #6, if I uncomment either line #1 or #2 it compiles fine, that is clear. The code compiles fine without c++0x option, so the error is related to default move constructor. However, what in the node class prevents default move constructor to be created? If I comment any of the lines #3 or #4 (i.e. make the destructor non-virtual or make data member non-volatile) it compiles again, so is it the combination of these two makes it not to compile? Another puzzle, line #5 does not cause an compilation error, what is different from line #6? Is it all specific for gcc? or gcc-4.6.1?

  Hi all, i'm using Mootools 1.2. Ihave 15 Forms with same name only change in their id's like form1, form2, form3, ... ,form15 same with their elements. i need to submit all forms by ajax. But now with empty core data database, I'm getting "message sent to deallocated instance" errors. • How to lazy process an xml documentwith hexpat?

  In my search for a haskell library that can process large (300-1000mb) xml files i came across hexpat. There is an example in the Haskell Wiki that claims to -- Process document before handling error, so we get lazy processing. For testing purposes i have redirected the output to /dev/null and throw a 300mb file at it. Memory consumption kept rising until i had to kill the process. Now i removed the error handling from the process function: process :: String -> IO () process filename = do inputText <- L.readFile filename let (xml, mErr) = parse defaultParseOptions inputText :: (UNode String, Maybe XMLParseError) hFile <- openFile "/dev/null" WriteMode L.hPutStr hFile $ format xml hClose hFile return () As a result the function now uses constant memory. Why does the error handling result in massive memory consumption? As far as i understand xml and mErr are two seperate unevaluated thunks after the call to parse. Does format xml evaluate xml and build the evaluation tree of 'mErr'? If yes is there a way to handle the error while using constant memory? http://www.haskell.org/haskellwiki/Hexpat/
