• Async data loading with WCF service with UI capabilities

  I'm working on complex user control(with Telerik components). I'm trying to implement following functionality: Typing some text in RadTextBox(let say: "Hello.txt"). Clicking on Button "Check". onClientClick for button "Check" will call WCF method with parameters. Let say that this request/response will take more that 10 seconds, meanwhile I'll see loading image near TextBox AND the most important, I can continue to work on other fields. When WCF service responses UI will be updated with the result. Thanks in advance

• Show SVG files on Sharepoint 2007

  I'm building a WSS site which has to show SVG files stored on WSS. I'm trying to use <object> tag to show it and it doesn't show, however, if I use <embed> it works ok. Im'using IE8 and IE7 I've been reading and everyone tells IE prefers <Object> over <embed>, but in WSS it doesn't work this way. To display the file I'm using a web content editor webpart with this code: <object type="image/svg+xml" data="/samples/sample.svg" name="owMain" width="400" height="150"> </object> Any clue??

• ASP.NET Website or Web service?

  Hi, I am trying to implement a service to download a image file. The code does nothing but upload a file to the response with each client request. There are no SOAP messages involved but I am planning to implement it as ASP.NET web service. It can also be implement as ASP.NET website but since it has no view (forms, html etc) I planned to implement a web-service. Is this a better approach? Does ASP.NET Website offer better performance that a Web-service? Which one would be better is this situation? Thanks in advance.

  When I'm trying to change the default Image of a Control on Windows Forms in Form Designer (no matter where on which control) I get this error: Error message: An item with the same key has already been added I tried to delete and recreate the Resources.resx file.. I assured that only 1 resx file with these keys exist.. (in fact that's my only resource file) but it still does not work. I have som strings in it and some images. That's all. Any idea?

• Prevent the groupfield from repeating every three rows

  I have a web app and I need to integrate some JasperReports in this app. So I downloaded iReport and I used the templates. I choose the LeafGreen template, but I have a problem. When I have more than 4 elemets in my list, my headers gets repeated every 4 elements (see the image:) - I don't want this; once is enough. • FFmpeg + iPhone - Interesting (incorrect?) video encoding results

  I'm encoding some video on the iPhone by running the png image data through swscale to get YUV420P data then encoding that frame using the MSMPEG4V1 codec. In the api docs, avcodec_encode_video should return the number of bytes used from the output buffer by that encode operation. There are 234,000 bytes going into the encoder, but the result returned by avcodec_encode_video is simply "4". The result is exactly the same over 24 frames. Something seems fishy here...any insight? Here's a pastebin link to the code: http://pastebin.com/ht94FWva (sorry for the link away from SO, I just didn't want to have the code duplicated in several places) EDIT: Also, I've set up a custom log callback for ffmpeg to use and I have the log level set to "Verbose" (libavutil/log.h), so libavcodec should be logging any goofs to the console, but avcodec is quiet throught he whole operation. (note: I did test to make sure my log callback was working)

• How to secure images with Rails?

  I have a gallery in my rails app that needs to only allow certain images to be shown to specific, logged in users. I am using Paperclip for image processing now, but it saves all images in a public folder available to anyone. Note that I don't have to use Paperclip if there is a better way, and I already have the login system in place. I just need a way to place the images in a non-public location, but still be able to serve them as needed. Is it possible to only allow these images to be served to authenticated users?

  I'm working on a web app for my company that will let us do some image tagging stuff, and I'd like to be able to generates results in the form of a CSV file. I can do this easily enough by dumping the CSV data to a div or something on the page and having the user copy it out. I'd rather have them hit the a generate button and have a CSV file downloaded as though they clicked on a link to the result, so they can more easily just save the file somewhere convenient. Is it possible to simulate this kind of thing with javascript? I basically want to dynamically generate the file and then let them download it, client side.

  Hello, I have the following code in a loop iterating over the different document objects: NSAutoreleasePool* pool = [[NSAutoreleasePool alloc] init]; [document primitiveValueForKey:@"data"]; [data writeToFile:filename atomically:NO]; [document.managedObjectContext refreshObject:document mergeChanges:NO]; [pool release]; The "data" property is a large blob (a 1MB image). And as I monitor the memory with the Allocation Instrument memory usage is increasing. I cannot find where the leak is coming from and how to remove it. Thanks!

• Is it possible to reference a file stored in Isolated Storage by its URI?

  Using this previous question as motivation, I would like to temporarily store images and videos in Isolated Storage. My application (written in WPF/C#) will allow a user to review these temporarily stored items by viewing their contents in a MediaElement. I was hoping to set the MediaElement's Source Property to a video or image's URI stored in IsolatedStorage but I cannot figure out how to dynamically create a URI since it doesn't appear to be naively supported by IsolatedStorage. Any help would be greatly appreciated - thank you in advance! Update - 1/21/09 After battling the issue for a day, I concluded that the Isolated Storage approach is not practical for storing large video files that need to be referenced by a Uri.

• How do I write a Photoshop Extension (8BX) plugin?

  The Adobe Photoshop CS3/4 SDk has a lot of examples for Filter, Import, Export etc plugins but I havent found anything that illustrates how to write a 8BX plugin. Reason I need to write one is to add a new drop down menu to the Photoshop root toolbar (where it displays File, Edit, Image .. Window. Help drop down menus). I have seen product like OneSoftware install an 8BX plugin into Adobe Photoshop CS3\Plug-Ins\Extensions directory that causes PS to add adrop down menu for OneSoft. That suggest this is a solvable problem :-) I tried by changing an existing plugin in the SDlK samples but no go. Specifically i modified the resource file: resource 'PiPL' (ResourceID, plugInName " PiPL", purgeable) { { Kind { **Extension** }, Name { plugInName "..." }, ... Despite using the Extension Kind , PS never loads the plugin. It doesnt generate any compile time or load error either. Anyone has ideas on how to go about doing this ? Thanks

• Stubborn UIButton

  I have a UIButton that is supposed to be disabled during certain phases. So, when this happens I do [myButton setEnabled:NO]; This is perfect because the button stays grayed and if clicked will not trigger its action, but... when the button is clicked even grayed, it enables again and a second click will trigger its actions (???????!!!!!!!!!!). How can that be? If the button is disabled it is supposed to be "part of the background", i.e., an image without any action. I have tried to make the button vanish using alpha but even if you click on the empty spot, it reappears after the first click and then can trigger actions after the second click... (????) Am I missing something?

• Input-type-file path, where is it stored on AJAX request ?!?

  Hi, I have been monitoring the parameters a website receives when a file is uploaded (via an input type="file"). Surprisingly, the parameter and its value were looking like this : parameter: upfile value: filename="this is the name of the uploaded file.png" Content-type: image/x-png Now in this POST request to the server page, the file name and its type is passed into a parameter, but what about the path to that filename? Where is that path stored so that the server page can upload the file at the good location? Also, I would like to know if it would be possible by any way to specify a path, NOT to the input type="file" since its impossible, but to the server (though this question probably depends a lot on how the server-side page is scripted).   I am trying to create functionality similar to drag and drop. I need to create my own as there will be some significant differences to the drag and drop in the jquery UI. I would like to have mousemove being called repeatedly at all times, and mousedown called every time the mouse is pressed. If I depress a mouse button and then move the mouse, coordinates are still reported correctly. But if I depress a mouse button on an image and then move the mouse, coordinates are reported correctly for a few sets, and then they seize up! Why is this happening and how can I fix it?   So I have some cool Image Processing algorithm. I have written it in OCaml. It performs well. I now I can compile it as C code with such command ocamlc -output-obj -o foo.c foo.ml (I have a situation where I am not alowed to use OCaml compiler to bild my programm for my arcetecture, I can use only specialy modified gcc. so I will compile that programm with sometyhing like gcc -L/usr/lib/ocaml foo.c -lcamlrun -lm -lncurses and Itll run on my archetecture.) I want to know in general case will my OCaml code compiled into C run faster than algorithm implemented in pure C?

• Firing a Keyboard Event at the Body - JavaScript (?)

  I've done a lot of research on this but have come up empty handed. What I would like to do is invoke or create an event for the right arrow key (Key Code 39). I was planning on using an onclick event inside an tag to go to a function where this event could be 'fired'. Any help would be appreciated. If anyone needs context, I have a jQuery content slider that's functionality is very hard to alter and currently the functionality I need to emulate only occurs when a user hits the right arrow on their keyboard. What I would like to do is tie an onclick() event to a image that when clicked on fires the right keyboard event and the content will slide.   Hi every one, I am very much new to Drupal but am loving it to start with. I got struck at a point with respect to theaming. I have a region called 'footer-teaser' just above footer. Its width is 800px. its been split into 3 equal size columns. Each column has the following. Image of size 120x120 Some teaser text Link to 'read more' The design requirement is all the above should be editable by the admin from the admin interface. If its static i would have hardcoded this but since the requirement is dynamic, i am not aware of how to achieve this. I have customised page.tpl for other sections of the page except this.
