• XEN 4.1 missing from the Grub Menu

  I installed Xen with following Commands. apt-get install xen-hypervisor-4.1-i386 apt-get install xen-utils-4.1 apt-get install xenwatch apt-get install xen-tools apt-get install xen-utils-common apt-get install xenstore-utils apt-get install virtinst apt-get install virt-viewer apt-get install virt-manager as given in http://www.beyondlinux.com/2011/11/02/install-xen-4-1-and-setup-your-cloud-os-on-ubuntu-11-10/ But I cant see any entry for Xen 4.1 in my GRUB Menu upon reboot. (As soon as I install above listed packages) Any solution? Please Help

  One of our clients is getting a bit worried about the new "Do Not Track" feature of Internet Explorer 10. Her site is heavily dependent on php sessions (as I imagine many other sites are). This was what she was reading: http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/technology-18288710 I need some clarification, will this affect how sessions (or cookies) work on normal web sites that use the PHP $_SESSION array? Or is it regarding only how advertising works (engadget's article seems to insinuate this)? Can anyone provide a more technical overview (and the ramifications) of PHP-powered websites?

  I have been thinking how to create realistic sound for a car. The main sound is the engine, then all kind of wind, road and suspension sounds. Are there any open source projects for the engine sound simulation? Simply pitching up the sample does not sound too great.   I have a trouble with ATI driver with Ubuntu 12.04 LTS. When I install ATI driver in Ubuntu 12.04 via "Additional Driver", then I can't shutdown Ubuntu, it showed blank (black) screen and my laptop still run. Sometimes, my screen like that: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=U9_iygesbBM But when I install Ubuntu 10.04 and install ATI driver via "Additional Driver", it's very good and no trouble I've seen. It's sweet but 10.04 is old and is supported to 4/2013. So I want to know why Ubuntu 10.04 works good better than 12.04 with ATI driver (in my case)?

• What does /dev/null mean in the shell?

  I've started learning bash scripting by using this guide: http://www.tldp.org/LDP/abs/abs-guide.pdf However I got stuck at the first script: cd /var/log cat /dev/null > messages cat /dev/null > wtmp echo "Log files cleaned up." What do lines 2 and 3 do in Ubuntu (I understand cat)? Is it only for other Linux distributions? After running this script as root, the output I get is Log files cleaned up. But /var/log still contains all the files.

• Upgraded Ubuntu 12.04 -> 12.10 and Drupal 7 site now get error

  I do all my Drupal 7 webdev and today I took advantage to upgrade my local WebDev box O/S to Ubuntu 12.10 from 12.04 and now I get the following errors for all my D7 projects on my localhost WebDev box (Ubuntu 12.10) It was all fine pre Ubuntu 12.04: Error The website encountered an unexpected error. Please try again later. Error message PDOException: SQLSTATE[42000]: Syntax error or access violation: 1286 Unknown storage engine 'InnoDB': SELECT expire, value FROM {semaphore} WHERE name = :name; Array ( [:name] => variable_init ) in lock_may_be_available() (line 167 of /var/www/jobsdaily/includes/lock.inc). A quick research and look into the phpmyadmin (3.4.11.1) and it seems InnoDB is an issue and when I click on a table to see data I get #1286 - Unknown storage engine 'InnoDB'. I have all my D7 sql backed up, but don't really want to go down the whole 'import' route, since it's 10 months work! Anyone had this issues and can anyone suggest fix ideas? Thanks

• Wow, no words enough for my disappointment

  Really cannot describe the disappointment felt at this moment.  A month ago there was rumor out there saying Surface tablet will be around $200.  Even though everybody agreed at the time that's not possible, or fair to Microsoft partners, the expectation was set.According to Paul Thurrott (http://www.winsupersite.com/article/windows8/microsoft-surface-pricing-availability-144526), the tablet starts at $499, but without the keyboard cover (Seriously, this is like offering Lincoln with manual shift).  The more disappointed fact is that there is no version that comes with cellular capability.  I was debating whether to get one, but now that decision is very easy.I'll wait.

  Creating a connection string by hand is quite difficult, however you create a connection string as follows: 1) Create an empty text file in windows explorer and rename it to X.UDL 2) Double click on it and the datalink provider dialog will appear. 3) Select the provider tab. Find the provider for your data access method and click next. 4) Select your source  5) Test the connection and save it. 6) Open X.UDL with a text editor to see your connections string. • Isometric smooth fog

  I'm working on a simple 2d game with direct3d 9. It's a isometric game with diamond tiles and a staggered map. This is what I have: As you se I have some king of fog which is acomplished by having a fog matrix which is true (clear terrain) or false (obscure terran). But the result is very chunky. The fog moves as the player moves by tiles but not by pixels. Basically I check for every tile if there is fog, if so I just change the color of that tile: if(scene->fog[i+mapx][j+mapy] == FOG_NONE) { tile_color = 0x666666FF; } I also would like the fog to be smoother, for that I followed this "tutorial" but I haven't managed to work it it out. http://www.appsizematters.com/2010/07/how-to-implement-a-fog-of-war-part-2-smooth/

  When I search my site on alexa, it says "Alexa Traffic Rank: No Data". So I google the issue. However there is no longer a link that says "Crawl my site". So as of now, does anyone know how to get site indexed by alexa so that my traffic rank will display on alexa index?
