• Why jquery.animate on a textarea make the blinking cursor disapears?

  Hello everyone. I have the following code $(document).ready(function() { $("#myTextArea").focus(function() { $("#myTextArea").animate({ "height": "75px"}, "normal"); return false; }); to expand a textbox when it gets focus. The expand occurs, however the blinking cursor disapears, at least in Firefox! Edited: The textarea is still focused, and i can type on it. Why does this happen? Is there a way to show it again?   hi <?php class myClass { var $input; var $output; function myClass($input) { $output = 'You entered: ' . $input; return $output; } } $test = new myClass; echo $test->myClass(123); ?> this works, but returns this warning: Warning: Missing argument 1 for myClass::myClass() I read in to this, and seems that the constructor is expecting a value, so by adding: function myClass($input='') the warning is removed, but this seems so unnecessary? could someone enlighten me as to why it's required to define a value to prevent that warning? thanks for any pointers

  Hi all, This is my first post, and first please forgive me for my poor english. I have a problem I really can't fix: I have a <table> of questions, the first question is visible (class:visible), the others are hidden (class:hidden) $(document).ready(function(){ $('.hidden').hide(); When people click on the first question, I want the second question to appear (and the first question to turn to grey, using a 'done' class). $('.visible:not(.done)').click(function(){ $(this).addClass('done'); $('.hidden:first').toggle(500).removeClass('hidden').addClass('visible'); }) The first question is now done (class:done) and the 2nd question should be the only one to react to a click(), and so on... But it doesn't work: the other <tr> appear only when I click on the 1st <tr>. Can someone give me a hand on this problem ? Thank you.

  I need to write a program for equivalence classes and get this outputs... The function should accept a list of pairs (elements which are related according to some equivalence relation), and return a set of equivalence classes without using iteration or assignment statements (e.g. do, set!, etc.). However, set utilities such as set-intersection, set-union and a function which eliminates duplicates in a list and built-in functions union, intersection, and remove-duplicates are allowed. Doesn't that the value of 'x' in a() should be 'gone' as soon as test = new a() is complete? The stack contains x should also be gone as well, right? Or, does javascript always keep all the stacks ever created in case they will be referenced in future? But that wouldn't be nice, would it...?

  Hello, I'm using the jQuery hotkeys plugin here: https://github.com/tzuryby/jquery.hotkeys The plugin prevents hot keys from firing when you are inside an input field. In my case, I want a hotkey to fire when inside an input box, not all but one in particular: $(function() { $(document).bind('keydown', 'Shift+return',function (evt) { alert('got it') }); }); Any ideas on how jQuery Hotkeys can be patched to allow for shift+return to be fired when inside an input/textarea field? but not fired for all the other hotkey bindings? • Can I use this Ajax script to communicate and exchange data between client and server?

  This block of code is for client.html (it is located in this www.client.com/client.html) - client side. The I have the code below that goes something like this: ajaxRequest.open("GET", "http://www.server.com/ajax.php", true); This is how I call the file ajax.php located in the server. Unfortunately I have no luck at all. It cannot connect to the server I'm calling. BTW, the ips /test site I've been using are all no restrictions, and is accessible to all. However, I tried to simulate by putting both client.html and ajax.php in same site and it works well. So my question is does this script works only if you are in same site? or does it work also in client-server scenario? • JS Variable inside another variable

  I have a function that would use other variables, depending on what has been passed. Like this = ActionBar(slot) slot contains "one". and I would like to create a call inside that like object.slot.name but it should convert it before hand to make the command look like object.one.name. Is there a way to do this in javascript/jquery? I remember vaguely that some other language does this as {slot} or something like that. Sorry if this question was already asked, I've checked google and stackoverflow too, but didn't find an answer. Also I'd like to know what's the proper programming term for this kind of variable passing? Edited it cause of misunderstandings. I'm looking into OOP js, so object is an object, one is an object, and name is an attribute, but when passing I'm passing "one" as a string to the function. Tried eval, it doesn't work while dotted with an object.

  I have the following HTML and the java script below to simulate the background color change when the link block is clicked, but it doesn't seem to work. Any reason why? If I have only the onmousedown event handled, the background color will be changed to blue for sure. • jQuery focus on content of input / textarea - not working properly in IE8

  I want the input fields on my site to select all the text when the user first clicks on them, but in IE8 the text is selected for a split second then reverts back to normal. Works fine in FF. • Calling some functions before main in C

  I'd like to do some stuffs before main function. I have multiple source files. In each file, there is some work that needs to be done before main. It was no problem in C++, but problematic with C. In C++, this can be done by two ways: Exploiting a constructor of a global class/struct. Calling a function to a global variable For example, static const int __register_dummy_ = __AddRegisterMetaInfo(...); However, in C, either ways is impossible. Obviously, there is no constructor. So, the first option is inherently impossible. I thought that the second option would be possible, but not compiled in C (I tested only with Visual C++. It gives C2099.). C only allows a constant to a non-automatic variable. Is there any way to call some functions before main?

• What is the best regular expression for validating email addresses?

  Over the years I have slowly developed a regular expression that validates MOST email addresses correctly, assuming they don't use an IP address as the server part. Currently the expression is: ^[_a-z0-9-]+(\.[_a-z0-9-]+)*@[a-z0-9-]+(\.[a-z0-9-]+)*(\.[a-z]{2,4})$ I use this in several PHP programs, and it works most of the time. However, from time to time I get contacted by someone that is having trouble with a site that uses it, and I end up having to make some adjustment (most recently I realized that I wasn't allowing 4-character TLDs). What's the best regular expression you have or have seen for validating emails? I've seen several solutions that use functions that use several shorter expressions, but I'd rather have one long complex expression in a simple function instead of several short expression in a more complex function.

  Currently, SHFileOperation has some confirm file replacement dialog boxes that ask the user if they would like to replace a file or not. I find these useful, but I would like to be able to modify the scenario in which they occur. Instead, I would like to compare the file contents first with a bool compareFile() function I wrote. Then, if the files are identical the file replacement dialog box will not come up. Assuming, I already have a working compareFile() function, is there a way for me to do this? • why my array is losing it's contents when I refresh the page?

  I have created an: var checkboxFarm = new Array(); then I want to record a checkbox status in that array, as there are 11 checkboxes. Button.addEventListener("click", function() { rp_farmAtivada(index); }, false); when clicked change the variable in the array: function rp_farmAtivada(index) { checkboxFarm[index] = !checkboxFarm[index]; }; but every time I refresh the page it loses all the checkboxes status and I'm aware that all that array gets the "undefined" value. the checkboxFarm array is defined in the beginning of the script, so it should have a global scope. Am I missing something?

• Optional URL fragment in Codeigniter?

  This is maybe a simple syntax question or possibly a best-practices question in terms of codeigniter. I should start by saying I'm not a PHP or Codeigniter person so trying to get up to speed on helping on a project. I've found the CI documentation fairly good. The one question I can't find an answer to is how to make part of a URL optional. An example the CI documentation uses is this: example.com/index.php/products/shoes/sandals/123 and then the function used to parse the URI: function shoes($sandals, $id) For my example, I'd like to be able to modify the URL as such: example.com/index.php/products/shoes/all So, if no ID is passed, it's just ignored. Can that be done? Should that be done? A second question unrelated to my problem but pertaining to the example above, why would the variable $sandals be used as in the example, the value is 'sandals'? Shouldn't that variable be something like $shoetype?

(I know is possible to pass it as a char* but then I will have to have another table to compare operator string and then do the operation which is something I would like to avoid) Is it possible to pass an operator like ^(XOR) or ||(OR) or &&(AND), etc in a function/method? • Issues with installing PHPUnit

  So I've installed PHP Unit via PEAR (all the files are there, I've checked). However, when I try to run a test I get: Warning: require_once(PHPUnit/Framework.php) [function.require-once]: failed to open stream: No such file or directory in C:\WAMP\www\ExampleTests\arraytest.php on line 2 I'm guessing this has something to do with my PHPUnit installation not updating the include_path properly, but I'm not too sure what to update it to? I'm on Windows (7), using WAMP. Cheers! EDIT: The bottom of PHP.ini contains: ;***** Added by go-pear include_path=".;C:\WAMP\bin\php\php5.3.10\pear" ;***** I also get the error: Fatal error: require_once() [function.require]: Failed opening required 'PHPUnit/Framework.php' (include_path='.;C:\php\pear') However, after looking in PHP.ini, there's no include path that points to C:\php\pear?
