  • sloving Algorithm notation

    - by neednewname
Use big-O notation to classify the traditional grade school algorithms for addition and multiplication. That is, if asked to add two numbers each having N digits, how many individual additions must be performed? If asked to multiply two N-digit numbers, how many individual multiplications are required Suppose f is a function that returns the result of reversing the string of symbols given as its input, and g is a function that returns the concatenation of the two strings given as its input. If x is the string hrwa, what is returned by g(f(x),x)? Explain your answer - don't just provide the result!

  • [ASP.NET] How can I HTML-encode a string and use human-readable encoded tags (ex: &ecirc; instead of

    - by Beerdude26
Greetings, I'm looking for a way to encode a string into HTML that uses human-readable tags such as &ecirc; (=ê). At the moment, I am using the HttpUtility.HtmlEncode() function, but it appears to return numbered tags instead of human-readable ones. For example: Dim str as string = HttpUtility;HtmlEncode("vente - en-tête") 'Expected: vente - en-t&ecirc;te 'Actually received: vente - en-t&#234;te Is there a setting or function in ASP.Net to encode a string into HTML resembling the first comment? EDIT: I am looking for this kind of functionality because the text is saved HTML-encoded in the database. The text comes from a bunch of MS Word documents that have been converted to HTML.

  • mysql_fetch_object on complex objects

    - by Arsenal
Say for example I have the follwoing DB structure Table book id title ... Table Author id name ... Table BookAuthor id bookid authorid And in PHP I have the following object class Book { var $id; var $title; var $authors = array(); function Book() {} } class Author { var $id; var $name; function Author(){} } Now, would it be possible using mysql_fetch_object to retrieve the bookobject including the authors as an array of author objects? If it's possible I'm pretty sure you'll need the basic inner join query SELECT * FROM tblbook INNER JOIN tblbookauthor on ... (wel you get the point) Is it possible? thanks!

  • is DISPID_VALUE reliable for invokes on IDispatchs from scripts?

    - by Georg Fritzsche
Continuing from this question, i am confused whether DISPID_VALUE on IDispatch::Invoke() for script functions and properties (JavaScript in my case) can be considered standard and reliable for invoking the actual function that is represented by the IDispatch? If yes, is that mentioned anywhere in MSDN? Please note that the question is about if that behaviour can be expected, not what some interfaces i can't know in advance might look like. A simple use case would be: // usage in JavaScript myObject.attachEvent("TestEvent", function() { alert("rhubarb"); }); // handler in ActiveX, MyObject::attachEvent(), C++ incomingDispatch->Invoke(DISPID_VALUE, IID_NULL, LOCALE_SYSTEM_DEFAULT, DISPATCH_METHOD, par, res, ex, err); edit: tried to clarify the question.

  • Fluent mapping help

    - by Matt Thrower
Hi, This is probably a very simple question but I'm new to nHibernate and I'm having trouble working this out. I have a Page object, which can have many Region objects. I also have a Workflow object. Page and Region objects both have a relationship to Workflow and it's this double association that I'm having trouble with. The PageMap has HasMany(Function(x) x.Regions).Cascade.All() And the RegionMap has: References(Function(x) x.Page) And this all seems to work. But how do I define the relationship between Workflow and these two objects?

  • how to make "tweet" button active in Twitter Anywhere TweetBox

I added a Twitter Anywhere TweetBox to my blog maxim.tumblr.com like this: var idvar = "tweetbox"; twttr.anywhere(function (T) { T("#tweetbox").tweetBox({ label: "Tweet me:", height: 100, width: 210, defaultContent: "@maxgrinev Hello!", onTweet: function (tweet, htmlTweet) { document.getElementById(idvar).setAttribute("style", "display: none;"); } }); }); Everythink works fine except the tweet button is not active by default. You have to edit the box to make it active (look here: http://maxgrinev.tumblr.com/). How can I make it active by default?

  • What is the most efficient algorithm for reversing a String in Java?

    - by Hultner
I am wondering which way to reverse a string in Java that is most efficient. Should I use some sort of xor method? The easy way would be to put all the chars in a stack and put them back into a string again but I doubt that's a very efficient way to do it. And please do not tell me to use some built in function in Java. I am interested in learning how to do it not to use an efficient function but not knowing why it's efficient or how it's built up.

  • PHP: producing relative date/time from timestamps

    - by KeyStroke
Hi, I'm basically trying to convert a Unix timestamp (the time() function) to a relative date/time that's both compatible with past and future date. So outputs could be: 2 weeks ago 1 hour and 60 minutes ago 15 minutes and 54 seconds ago after 10 minutes and 15 seconds First I tried to code this, but made a huge unmaintainable function, and then I searched the internet for a couple of hours, yet all I can find are scripts that produce only one part of the time (e.h: "1 hour ago" without the minutes). Do you have a script that already does this? If so, I'd really appreciate if you could share it. Thanks.

Is it something like assigning to a partial function? Why is it done like that?

  • How do I clear the text contents of a div in javascript?

I'm temporarily adding contents to a div, tempDiv, and adding that to a link which is appended to a div, #contentHere, that's displayed. I need to clear the contents of tempDiv so that the links aren't appended to each other, creating a string of urls that don't link to anywhere. $(document).ready(function(){ $.getJSON("data.php", function(data){ for(i = 0; i < 5; i++){ $("#tempDiv").append(data.justIn[i].dataLink+ ' '); $("#contentHere").append("<a href=\"#tempDiv\">Click to go to the div link</a>"); //I need to clear the contents of tempDiv here } }); }); Solutions to clearing the temporary contents of the div as I go?

  • Calling some functions before main in C

    - by minjang
I'd like to do some stuffs before main function. I have multiple source files. In each file, there is some work that needs to be done before main. It was no problem in C++, but problematic with C. In C++, this can be done by two ways: Exploiting a constructor of a global class/struct. Calling a function to a global variable For example, static const int __register_dummy_ = __AddRegisterMetaInfo(...); However, in C, either ways is impossible. Obviously, there is no constructor. So, the first option is inherently impossible. I thought that the second option would be possible, but not compiled in C (I tested only with Visual C++. It gives C2099.). C only allows a constant to a non-automatic variable. Is there any way to call some functions before main?

  • overwriting arguments in t-sql functions

    - by chuck taylor
I was playing around with some code and realized that it is possible to overwrite the argument to a t-sql function. i.e., create function someFn(@date date) as begin if @date is null set @date = getdate() will set @date to be today's date if the argument was null. This appears only to make any sense if t-sql is treating their arguments as references not values. I realized that I don't actually know what the t-sql rules are for cases like this and was hoping someone could elaborate what is going on here. (I don't ever recall seeing any value vs. reference discussion with respect to t-sql code for that matter actually..)

  • Generating a .CSV with Several Columns - Use a Dictionary?

    - by Qanthelas
I am writing a script that looks through my inventory, compares it with a master list of all possible inventory items, and tells me what items I am missing. My goal is a .csv file where the first column contains a unique key integer and then the remaining several columns would have data related to that key. For example, a three row snippet of my end-goal .csv file might look like this: 100001,apple,fruit,medium,12,red 100002,carrot,vegetable,medium,10,orange 100005,radish,vegetable,small,10,red The data for this is being drawn from a couple sources. 1st, a query to an API server gives me a list of keys for items that are in inventory. 2nd, I read in a .csv file into a dict that matches keys with item name for all possible keys. A snippet of the first 5 rows of this .csv file might look like this: 100001,apple 100002,carrot 100003,pear 100004,banana 100005,radish Note how any key in my list of inventory will be found in this two column .csv file that gives all keys and their corresponding item name and this list minus my inventory on hand yields what I'm looking for (which is the inventory I need to get). So far I can get a .csv file that contains just the keys and item names for the items that I don't have in inventory. Give a list of inventory on hand like this: 100003,100004 A snippet of my resulting .csv file looks like this: 100001,apple 100002,carrot 100005,radish This means that I have pear and banana in inventory (so they are not in this .csv file.) To get this I have a function to get an item name when given an item id that looks like this: def getNames(id_to_name, ids): return [id_to_name[id] for id in ids] Then a function which gives a list of keys as integers from my inventory server API call that returns a list and I've run this function like this: invlist = ServerApiCallFunction(AppropriateInfo) A third function takes this invlist as its input and returns a dict of keys (the item id) and names for the items I don't have. It also writes the information of this dict to a .csv file. I am using the set1 - set2 method to do this. It looks like this: def InventoryNumbers(inventory): with open(csvfile,'w') as c: c.write('InvName' + ',InvID' + '\n') missinginvnames = [] with open("KeyAndItemNameTwoColumns.csv","rb") as fp: reader = csv.reader(fp, skipinitialspace=True) fp.readline() # skip header invidsandnames = {int(id): str.upper(name) for id, name in reader} invids = set(invidsandnames.keys()) invnames = set(invidsandnames.values()) invonhandset = set(inventory) missinginvidsset = invids - invonhandset missinginvids = list(missinginvidsset) missinginvnames = getNames(invidsandnames, missinginvids) missinginvnameswithids = dict(zip(missinginvnames, missinginvids)) print missinginvnameswithids with open(csvfile,'a') as c: for invname, invid in missinginvnameswithids.iteritems(): c.write(invname + ',' + str(invid) + '\n') return missinginvnameswithids Which I then call like this: InventoryNumbers(invlist) With that explanation, now on to my question here. I want to expand the data in this output .csv file by adding in additional columns. The data for this would be drawn from another .csv file, a snippet of which would look like this: 100001,fruit,medium,12,red 100002,vegetable,medium,10,orange 100003,fruit,medium,14,green 100004,fruit,medium,12,yellow 100005,vegetable,small,10,red Note how this does not contain the item name (so I have to pull that from a different .csv file that just has the two columns of key and item name) but it does use the same keys. I am looking for a way to bring in this extra information so that my final .csv file will not just tell me the keys (which are item ids) and item names for the items I don't have in stock but it will also have columns for type, size, number, and color. One option I've looked at is the defaultdict piece from collections, but I'm not sure if this is the best way to go about what I want to do. If I did use this method I'm not sure exactly how I'd call it to achieve my desired result. If some other method would be easier I'm certainly willing to try that, too. How can I take my dict of keys and corresponding item names for items that I don't have in inventory and add to it this extra information in such a way that I could output it all to a .csv file? EDIT: As I typed this up it occurred to me that I might make things easier on myself by creating a new single .csv file that would have date in the form key, item name, type, size, number, color (basically just copying in the column for item name into the .csv that already has the other information for each key.) This way I would only need to draw from one .csv file rather than from two. Even if I did this, though, how would I go about making my desired .csv file based on only those keys for items not in inventory?

  • Refactoring method that was previously injected with implement

    - by ryber
Greetings, I'm trying to override or extend the Element.show() and .hide() methods in mootools in order to add some WAI-Aria toggling. I was trying to use the Class.Refactor() method like this: Element = Class.refactor(Element, { show: function(displayString) { result = this.previous(displayString); // Do my thing return result; }, hide: function() { result = this.previous(); // Do my thing return result; } }); however, this is not working, previous is null and I think the reason is that Mootools injects those methods through Element.implement. So the methods are not native? I have figured out how to completely replace .show and .hide but I would like to retain all of their existing functionality and just add to it. Any ideas?

  • Jquery Validation Central Message Many Errors

    - by Iamjon
Hi everyone, I have a form that is being valdated with the Jquery Validation Plugin. I have managed to get a centeral message "Please Recheck the form", and to have the input focus on the first error. To get this, I had to override the default message of each of the errors. I was wondering if anyone could help me figure out how I can have it display the error message associated with the first error input instead of a general error message. Here is the code: $("#Help-A-Noobie-Form" ).validate({ invalidHandler: function(form, validator) { $(this).find(":input.error:first").focus(); var message = 'Please Recheck The Form' ; $("#Help-A-Noobie-Form #Message p").addClass('red').html(message); }, showErrors: function(errorMap, errorList) { this.defaultShowErrors(); }, rules: { required:true, email: {email:true}, phone: {digits:true} }, messages: { email: "", phone: "", lastname: "", firstname: "", required:"" } })

  • jQuery jqXHR - cancel chained calls, trigger error chain

    - by m0sa
I am creating a ajax utility for interfacing with my server methods. I would like to leverage jQuery 1.5+ deferred methods from the object returned from the jQuery.ajax() call. The situation is following. The serverside method always returns a JSON object: { success: true|false, data: ... } The client-side utility initiates the ajax call like this var jqxhr = $.ajax({ ... }); And the problem area: jqxhr.success(function(data, textStatus, xhr) { if(!data || !data.success) { ???? // abort processing, trigger error } }); return jqxhr; // return to caller so he can attach his own handlers So the question is how to cancel invocation of all the callers appended success callbacks an trigger his error handler in the place mentioned with ???? ? The documentation says the deferred function invocation lists are FIFO, so my success handler is definitely the first one.

  • Unity JS - simple if statements not behaving as expected?

    - by IHazABone
    I have a simple script (please no remarks on the fact that I'm not using a switch statement or better code, this is the earliest version and written this way by a peer, I am improving it) that takes an object and moves it back and forth. For some reason, the variable time gets stuck at 249. It is probably an obvious bug with this inefficient logic, but I cannot seem to find it. var speed = 1; private var time = 0; function Start() { } function Update() { if(condition == true)moveStuff(); } function moveStuff() { var timeSwitch = false; if(time == 0)timeSwitch = false; if(time == timeSet)timeSwitch = true; if(direction == 1) { if(timeSwitch == false) { transform.Translate(Vector3.up * (Time.deltaTime * speed)); time += 1; Debug.Log(time); }else if(timeSwitch == true) { transform.Translate(Vector3.up * ((Time.deltaTime * speed) * -1)); time -= 1; Debug.Log(time); } } else if(direction == 2) { if(timeSwitch == false) { transform.Translate(Vector3.down * (Time.deltaTime * speed)); time += 1; Debug.Log("Moved down.   • Passing around objects to network packet handlers ?

    - by xeross
Hey, I've been writing a networking server for a while now in C++ and have come to the stage to start looking for a way to properly and easily handle all packets. I am so far that I can figure out what kind of packet it is, but now I need to figure out how to get the needed data to the handler functions. I had the following in mind: Have a map of function pointers with the opcode as key and the function pointer as value Have all these functions have 2 arguments, packet and ObjectAccessor ObjectAccessor class contains various functions to fetch various items such as users and alike Perhaps pass the user's guid too so we can fetch it from the objectaccessor I'd like to know the various implementations others have come up with, so please comment on this idea and reply with your own implementations. Thanks, Xeross
