  • Persist collection of interface using Hibernate

    - by Olvagor
I want to persist my litte zoo with Hibernate: @Entity @Table(name = "zoo") public class Zoo { @OneToMany private Set<Animal> animals = new HashSet<Animal>(); } // Just a marker interface public interface Animal { } @Entity @Table(name = "dog") public class Dog implements Animal { // ID and other properties } @Entity @Table(name = "cat") public class Cat implements Animal { // ID and other properties } When I try to persist the zoo, Hibernate complains: Use of @OneToMany or @ManyToMany targeting an unmapped class: blubb.Zoo.animals[blubb.Animal] I know about the targetEntity-property of @OneToMany but that would mean, only Dogs OR Cats can live in my zoo. Is there any way to persist a collection of an interface, which has several implementations, with Hibernate?

  • Task manager close is not detected second time in C# !!!

    - by Samir
private void Form1_FormClosing(object sender, FormClosingEventArgs e) { if (e.CloseReason == CloseReason.UserClosing) { if (MessageBox.Show(this, "Do you really want to close?", "Close?", MessageBoxButtons.YesNo) == DialogResult. No) { e.Cancel = true; } } } So when I want to close the application clicking the close button the message box is shown as it should, then I chose no. Then the line e.Cancel = true is executed and the form is not closed. Now the thing is, after this if i close the application from task manager the close reason is UserClosing !!! Why? Shouldn't it be TaskManagerClosing?

  • Zero division does not throw exception in nunit

    - by Boris
Running the following C# code through NUnit yields Test.ControllerTest.TestSanity: Expected: <System.DivideByZeroException> But was: null So either no DivideByZeroException is thrown, or NUnit does not catch it. Similar to this question, but the answers he got, do not seem to work for me. This is using NUnit 2.5.5.10112, and .NET 4.0.30319. [Test] public void TestSanity() { Assert.Throws<DivideByZeroException>(new TestDelegate(() => DivideByZero())); } private void DivideByZero() { // Parse "0" to make sure to get an error at run time, not compile time. var a = (1 / Double.Parse("0")); } Any ideas?

  • Handling "Big" Integers in C#

    - by priyanka.sarkar
How do I handle big integers in C#? I have a function that will give me the product of divisors: private static int GetDivisorProduct(int N, int product) { for (int i = 1; i < N; i++) { if (N % i == 0) { Console.WriteLine(i.ToString()); product *= i; } } return product; } The calling function is GetDivisorProduct(N, 1) If the result is bigger than 4 digits , I should obtain only the last 4 digits. ( E.g. If I give an input of 957, the output is 7493 after trimming out only the last four values. The actual result is 876467493.). Other sample inputs: If I give 10000, the output is 0. The BigInteger class has been removed from the C# library! How can I get the last four digits?

  • Binding to static property

    - by Anthony Brien
I'm having a hard time binding a simple static string property to a text box. Here's the class with the static property: public class VersionManager { private static string filterString; public static string FilterString { get { return filterString; } set { filterString = value; } } } In my xaml, I just want to bind this static property to a text box: <TextBox> <TextBox.Text> <Binding Source="{x:Static local:VersionManager.FilterString}"/> </TextBox.Text> </TextBox> Everything compiles, but at run time, I get the following exception: Cannot convert the value in attribute 'Source' to object of type 'System.Windows.Markup.StaticExtension'. Error at object 'System.Windows.Data.Binding' in markup file 'BurnDisk;component/selectversionpagefunction.xaml' Line 57 Position 29. Any idea what I'm doing wrong?

  • var keyword without 'using someNamespace'

    - by RichK
How does Visual Studio/intellisense know what to do with a variable declared as var even if you don't include the necessary using declaration at the top? For example, I have class MyDomainObject defined in a different namespace If I don't declare using TheOtherNameSpace; in the file the following code won't compile: private void Foo() { MyDomainObject myObj = new MyDomainObject(); // Doesn't know what this class is } But if I use var var myObj = new MyDomainObject(); This will compile, and intellisense knows exactly what I can with it. So how the heck does it know what the type is without the using? (And as an aside, if it knows without the using, why do we need usings at all?!)

  • How to ignore comments when reading a XML file into a XmlDocument?

    - by tunnuz
Possible duplicate: How to remove all comment tags from XmlDocument Hello, I am trying to read a XML document with C#, I am doing it this way: XmlDocument myData = new XmlDocument(); myData.Load("datafile.xml"); anyway, I sometimes get comments when reading XmlNode.ChildNodes. For the benefit of who's experiencing the same requirement, here's how I did it at the end: /** Validate a file, return a XmlDocument, exclude comments */ private XmlDocument LoadAndValidate( String fileName ) { // Create XML reader settings XmlReaderSettings settings = new XmlReaderSettings(); settings.IgnoreComments = true; // Exclude comments settings.ProhibitDtd = false; settings.ValidationType = ValidationType.DTD; // Validation // Create reader based on settings XmlReader reader = XmlReader.Create(fileName, settings); try { // Will throw exception if document is invalid XmlDocument document = new XmlDocument(); document.Load(reader); return document; } catch (XmlSchemaException) { return null; } } Thank you Tommaso

  • Linq to SQL Where clause based on field selected at runtime

    - by robasaurus
I'm trying to create a simple reusable search using LINQ to SQL. I pass in a list of words entered in a search box. The results are then filtered based on this criteria. private IQueryable<User> BasicNameSearch(IQueryable<User> usersToSearch, ICollection<string> individualWordsFromSearch) { return usersToSearch .Where(user => individualWordsFromSearch.Contains(user.Forename.ToLower()) || individualWordsFromSearch.Contains(user.Surname.ToLower())); } Now I want this same search functionality on a different datasource and want to dynamically select the fields to apply the search to. For instance instead of IQueryable of Users I may have an IQueryable of Cars and instead of firstname and surname the search goes off Make and Model. Basically the goal is to reuse the search logic by dynamically selecting what to search on at runtime.

  • How can I have a serializable struct that wraps it's self as an int32 implicitly? in C#?

    - by firoso
Long story short, I have a struct (see below) that contains exactly one field: private int value; I've also implemented implicit conversion operators: public static implicit operator int(Outlet val) { return val.value; } public static implicit operator Outlet(int val) { return new Outlet(val); } I've implemented all of the following : IComparable, IComparable<Cart>, IComparable<int>, IConvertible, IEquatable<Cart>, IEquatable<int>, IFormattable I'm at a point where I really have no clue why, but whenever I serialize this object, I get no value. For instance, with XmlSerialization: <Outlet /> Also, I'm not solely concerned about XmlSerialization, I'm concerned about ALL serialization (binary for instance) How can I ensure that this serializes properly? NOTE: I did this because mapping an int,int dictionary seemed rather poorly typed to me when explicit objects with validation behavior were desired.

  • NHibernate session management in ASP.NET MVC

    - by Kevin Pang
I am currently playing around with the HybridSessionBuilder class found on Jeffrey Palermo's blog post: http://jeffreypalermo.com/blog/use-this-nhibernate-wrapper-to-keep-your-repository-classes-simple/ Using this class, my repository looks like this: public class UserRepository : IUserRepository { private readonly ISessionBuilder _sessionBuilder; public UserRepository(ISessionBuilder sessionBuilder) { _sessionBuilder = sessionBuilder; } public User GetByID(string userID) { using (ISession session = _sessionBuilder.GetSession()) { return session.Get<User>(userID); } } } Is this the best way to go about managing the NHibernate session / factory? I've heard things about Unit of Work and creating a session per web request and flushing it at the end. From what I can tell, my current implementation isn't doing any of this. It is basically relying on the Repository to grab the session from the session factory and use it to run the queries. Are there any pitfalls to doing database access this way?

  • Strange execution of get accesor in c#?

    - by Kenji Kina
I set up a simple program just to test how the code inside a get accessor executes (since I had been having some issues in another project), and found something quite strange: class Program { static void Main(string[] args) { var test = new TestClass(); var testBool = test.TestBool; } } public class TestClass { private bool _testBool = true; public bool TestBool { get { if (_testBool) { Console.WriteLine("true!"); } else { Console.WriteLine("false! WTF!"); } _testBool = false; return _testBool; } } } I expected the output to be true! But what I got instead was true! false! WTF! Just what is going on here?

  • WCF Service Memory Leaks

    - by Mubashar Ahmad
Dear Devs I have a very small wcf service hosted in a console app. [ServiceContract] public interface IService1 { [OperationContract] void DoService(); } [ServiceBehavior(InstanceContextMode=InstanceContextMode.PerCall)] public class Service1 : IService1 { public void DoService() { } } and its being called as using (ServiceReference1.Service1Client client = new ServiceReference1.Service1Client()) { client.DoService(new DoServiceRequest()); client.Close(); } Please remember that service is published on basicHttpBindings. Problem Now when i performed above client code in a loop of 1000 i found big difference between "All Heap bytes" and "Private Bytes" performance counters (i used .net memory profiler). After investigation i found some of the objects are not properly disposed following are the list of those objects (1000 undisposed instance were found -- equals to the client calls) (namespace for all of them is System.ServiceModel.Channels) HttpOutput.ListenerResponseHttpOutput.ListenerResponseOutputStream BodyWriterMessage BufferedMessage HttpRequestContext.ListenerHttpContext.ListenerContextHttpInput.ListenerContextInputStream HttpRequestContext.ListenerHttpContext Questions Why do we have lot of undisposed objects and how to control them. • Does a C# using statement perform try/finally?

    - by Lirik
Suppose that I have the following code: private void UpdateDB(QuoteDataSet dataSet, Strint tableName) { using(SQLiteConnection conn = new SQLiteConnection(_connectionString)) { conn.Open(); using (SQLiteTransaction transaction = conn.BeginTransaction()) { using (SQLiteCommand cmd = new SQLiteCommand("SELECT * FROM " + tableName, conn)) { using (SQLiteDataAdapter sqliteAdapter = new SQLiteDataAdapter()) { sqliteAdapter.Update(dataSet, tableName); } } transaction.Commit(); } } } The C# documentation states that with a using statement the object within the scope will be disposed and I've seen several places where it's suggested that we don't need to use try/finally clause. I usually surround my connections with a try/finally, and I always close the connection in the finally clause. Given the above code, is it reasonable to assume that the connection will be closed if there is an exception?

  • Operation can only be performed on cells that belong to a DataGridView control

    - by The Demigeek
The following code throws an InvalidOperationException with the above message and I don't understand why. My code calls the following method when the user may have made changes to the datagridview's underlying data source. The goal is to update the display with any changed data, and preserve the sort column and order. private void ReloadDataGridBindingListFromDatabase() { DataGridView dgv = myDataGridViewControl; DataGridViewColumn sortedColumn = dgv.SortedColumn; SortOrder sortOrder = dgv.SortOrder; //do stuff here to refresh dgv.DataSource if (sortedColumn != null) { //this line throws an exception sortedColumn.HeaderCell.SortGlyphDirection = sortOrder; } //etc. } Clearly, sortedColumn.HeaderCell is a cell that belongs to a DataGridView control. So why am I getting this exception? Many thanks for your input.

Running xperf on the .etl with -symbols, I get: DBGHELP: mydll- private symbols & lines C:\mydll\debugu\mydll.pdb - unmatched Which leads me to believe it thinks my PDB doesn't match the DLL the application is using. This is wrong; it does match. I've confirmed the path of the DLL the application is linking with using procexp, completely rebuilt the project, and so on. It still thinks it doesn't match.
