  • tracking the position of dragview

    - by user262325
Hello everyone I put a dragview on an UIView, I hope when I drag the dragview, its superview (UIView) tracks the position of the dragview and moves itself to the position where to keep dragview at the original position on the UIView. The codes show below: #import <UIKit/UIKit.h> @interface DragView : UIImageView { CGPoint startLocation; } @end #import "DragView.h" @implementation DragView - (id)initWithFrame:(CGRect)frame { if (self = [super initWithFrame:frame]) { // Initialization code } return self; } - (void)drawRect:(CGRect)rect { // Drawing code } -(void) touchesBegan:(NSSet *)touches withEvent:(UIEvent*)event { CGPoint pt=[[touches anyObject] locationInView:self]; startLocation=pt; [[self superview] bringSubviewToFront:self]; } -(void) touchesMoved:(NSSet *)touches withEvent:(UIEvent *)event { CGPoint pt=[[touches anyObject] locationInView:self]; CGRect frame=[self frame]; frame.origin.x+=pt.x-startLocation.x; frame.origin.y+=pt.y-startLocation.y; CGRect frame1=[[self superview] frame];//superview of the dragview frame1.origin.x+=frame.origin.x; //tracks the postion of dragview frame1.origin.y+=frame.origin.y; [[self superview] setFrame: frame1 ]; //move to new position [self setFrame:frame]; } my problem is that the UIView moved but lagged to the movement of the drageview(RED BLOCK). Welcome any comment Thanks interdev

  • UIView capturing all events

    - by Josh P.
I have a UIView that uses several UIGestureRecognizers and this view again has at least one child view that contains a MPMoviePlayerController. When a touch event occurs over the movie player, the main view seems to 'eat' all the events, leaving the media player idle. How can I make sure that the events are delivered correctly to the player?

  • How do I get the CoreData Debug argument to output to the console?

    - by radesix
According to Apple documentation on debugging Core Data it says we should be able to pass an argument to the application which will output the SQL core data sends to SQLite. I have gone into the arguments tab of my executable in XCode and specified the argument: -com.apple.CoreData.SQLDebug 1 However, I see no SQL in the console. I then tried to use this parameter in the CoreDataBooks application provided by Apple just in case there was some other issue in MY program. Even in Apple's example I get no SQL output in the console. Am I doing something wrong? Is Apple's documentation wrong? Should I be looking someplace other than the console? Has anyone else had success with this argument?

  • Map resources when added to the project

    - by Espuz
I have a .h when I map all the image files names and xib names with #defines. For example, if I have an image called "buttonBackground.png" I map it in my .h as #define BUTTON_BACKGROUND_PNG_FILE @"buttonBackground.png" It's possible to detect when a resource is added to the bundle and create the correspond define with a script?

  • What is the correct way of handling a reloaded view after it was dismissed?

    - by favo
Hi, I have the same problem as the guy here: http://stackoverflow.com/questions/2682844/uiimagepickercontroller-reloads-view-after-its-dismissed I have a UIView with a UIDatePicker within a Popover. When the Popover is dismissed and presented again, it sometimes resets the Picker in the view because hidden views are unloaded when a memory warning occurs. This is the part displaying the view: endCompareDateTimePicker.picker.maximumDate = [NSDate dateWithTimeIntervalSinceNow:0]; [endCompareDateTimePopover presentPopoverFromRect:sender.frame inView:self.view permittedArrowDirections:UIPopoverArrowDirectionAny animated:YES]; The picker (IBOutlet UIDatePicker) does not stay initiated. Adding a [endCompareDateTimePicker loadView] helped out and got me the picker initiated to set the correct date values before displaying the view. While this is working, I dont think this is the proper way doing this. What would be the correct way to handle this situation?

  • Navigating between 2 ViewControllers

    - by Kobe.o4
Im using Navigation Controller for my ViewControllers,I set my importantViewController as something like this to be its RootView: UINavigationController *navControl = [[UINavigationController alloc] initWithRootViewController: vc]; [self presentModalViewController: navControl animated: YES]; Then, I pushView anotherView the FrontViewController like this: [self.navigationController pushViewController:vc animated:YES]; After a button is pressed in FrontViewController another view will be pushed ViewA but it is connected with another ViewController ViewB the same way as this AGAIN: [self.navigationController pushViewController:vc animated:YES]; (Which I think Im doing wrong when dismissing either of them with [self.navigationController popViewControllerAnimated:YES];) This is an illustration: My problem is, I need to navigate between View A and View B then when I dismiss either of them it will got back to FrontViewController. Like a child of a child View. Thanks.

  • Problem with accessing classes from another class.

    - by srikanth rongali
I have a classA, classB,classC. I have another class classABC; All are CCLayer inherited. I need to call all the classA, classB, classC from classABC. #import <Foundation/Foundation.h> #import "cocos2d.h" @interface classABC : CCLayer { classA *aClass; } @property(nonatomic, retain)classA *aClass; @end #import "classABC" #import "classA.h" #import "classB.h" #import "classC.h" @implementation classABC -(id)init { if( (self = [super init]) ) { ClassA *aClass = [[ClassA alloc]init]; CCScene *aClassS = [CCScene node]; CCLayer * aClassL = [aClass node]; [aClassS addChild: aClassL]; [[CCDirector sharedDirector] setAnimationInterval:60.0/60]; [[CCDirector sharedDirector] replaceScene: aClass]; } return self; } @end But I am not getting the classA displayed. How should I do it ? Thank You.

  • How can I retain the data stored in plist from UITextField when application is restarted ?

    - by srikanth rongali
I am using the plist to store the data entered in the UITextFields. But, when I restart my application all the data entered previously was deleted. How can I retain the data in the Plist. I have a UITableView and when a cell is touched a view appears with two UITextFields. nameField and descriptionField. I stored the data in this way. My code is. -(void)save:(id)sender { indexOfDataArray = temp; //the cell selected in table view. NSString *string1 = [[NSString alloc]init]; NSString *string2 = [[NSString alloc]init]; string1 = nameField.text; string2 = descriptionField.text; NSDictionary *myDict = [[NSDictionary alloc] initWithObjectsAndKeys:string2, string1, nil]; [myArray addObject:myDict]; //myArray is NSMutableArray declared in tableViewController class. //[myArray insertObject:myDict atIndex:indexOfDataArray]; NSArray *paths = NSSearchPathForDirectoriesInDomains(NSDocumentDirectory, NSUserDomainMask, YES); NSString *documentsDirectory = [paths objectAtIndex:0]; NSString *path = [documentsDirectory stringByAppendingPathComponent:@"tableVideoData.plist"]; [myArray writeToFile:path atomically:YES]; UIAlertView *alertMesage = [[UIAlertView alloc] initWithTitle: @"Save Alert" message:@"The data entered is saved" delegate:nil cancelButtonTitle:@"cancel" otherButtonTitles:nil] ; [alertMesage show]; [alertMesage release]; } When I am using the [myArray insertObject:myDict atIndex:indexOfDataArray]; It is giving the error *** Terminating app due to uncaught exception 'NSRangeException', reason: '*** -[NSCFArray insertObject:atIndex:]: index (2) beyond bounds (1)' So I used [myArray addObject:myDict]; Please help me, how can I retain the data in plist. Thank You.

  • How do you put a UIWebView somewhere other than MainView.xib?

    - by Jack
Hello, I've been trying to put a UIWebView into my app, which is tableview based. When the user selects a row, I want the new xib to load, but this one with a UIWebView on it. From all of the tutorials I've seen, you can only put a UIWebView on the MainView.xib. Can someone please tell me how to put a FUNCTIONING UIWebView somewhere other than the main view? Thanks in advance!!

  • Core Data strategy using in memory cache, or no core data at all?

    - by randombits
I have a user interface where the user can check off a bunch of items from a tableview, almost like a todo list. The items are populated from a Core Data stack. I need to be able to take all of the items they're clicking through and put them into a "temporary" shopping cart. Once they're in the shopping cart, users can go through the list and remove the items, or just submit them to a server. The thing is, the selected items are temporary just like an internet based shopping cart. It's nothing something that gets persisted once the application closes. Once the view is no longer in display, I can assume that the shopping cart is safe to discard. What's the best way to approach this? Since the user is essentially clicking on instances that map back to a Core Data entity .. should I setup a different persistence store such as in memory and add that store to my managed object context?

  • how to send database data to a MySQL server to update the server database.

    - by haisergeant
Hi everyone, I am developing Smoking counter and I need to send all the smoking record (about the time user smoking) to database on the server. The server database is MySQL database. I knew that I must have send data to PHP page/script, and this page/script will run on the data to insert record to database. I would like to know: is there another way to update database, because I don't have knowledge about PHP. I used to work on java and c/c++/objective-c. If you know another way to do this task, please let me know. Any help would be appreciated.

  • NSMutableDictionary confused over how to use keys with certain code ?

    - by Jules
    I'm getting data from a database and I need to add the string field value and the record id. However, I need this to work with some existing code... I'm replacing this (see code below) and getting data from my database. NSDictionary *dict = [[NSDictionary alloc] initWithContentsOfFile:path]; self.allCategories = dict; [dict release]; But needs to work with these key and value search functions. - (void)resetSearch { NSMutableDictionary *allCategoriesCopy = [self.allCategories mutableDeepCopy]; self.Categories = allCategoriesCopy; [allCategoriesCopy release]; NSMutableArray *keyArray = [[NSMutableArray alloc] init]; [keyArray addObject:UITableViewIndexSearch]; [keyArray addObjectsFromArray:[[self.allCategories allKeys] sortedArrayUsingSelector:@selector(compare:)]]; self.keys = keyArray; [keyArray release]; } . - (void)handleSearchForTerm:(NSString *)searchTerm { NSMutableArray *sectionsToRemove = [[NSMutableArray alloc] init]; [self resetSearch]; for (NSString *key in self.keys) { NSMutableArray *array = [Categories valueForKey:key]; NSMutableArray *toRemove = [[NSMutableArray alloc] init]; for (NSString *name in array) { if ([name rangeOfString:searchTerm options:NSCaseInsensitiveSearch].location == NSNotFound) [toRemove addObject:name]; } if ([array count] == [toRemove count]) [sectionsToRemove addObject:key]; [array removeObjectsInArray:toRemove]; [toRemove release]; } [self.keys removeObjectsInArray:sectionsToRemove]; [sectionsToRemove release]; [table reloadData]; } Keep getting an error from this code... NSDictionary *arrayTmp= [[NSDictionary alloc] init]; ... loop records int cid = sqlite3_column_int(statementTMP, 0); NSString *category = [[NSString alloc] initWithUTF8String:(char *)sqlite3_column_text(statementTMP, 1)]; [arrayTmp setObject:category forKey:[NSString stringWithFormat:@"%i", cid]]; Error caused by line above * Terminating app due to uncaught exception 'NSInvalidArgumentException', reason: '-[NSCFString count]: unrecognized selector sent to instance 0x4d4c500' * Call stack at first throw * ... end loop self.allCategories = arrayTmp; [arrayTmp release];

  • How do I reset the state of a view inside a tabbar?

    - by ABeanSits
Hello CocoaTouch-Experts! This is a fairly straightforward question though my Googling session gave me nothing. How do I reset the state of a view hierarchy located in a tabbar programmatically? The behavior I want to replicate is when the user tapps on a tab twice. This causes the view located under that tab to return to it's initial state. The tab is "owned" by a UINavigationController and when the user reaches a certain point in the view hierarchy there is a button which I want to connect this behavior to. All my attempts have failed except calling on a method in AppDelegate which kills the view and adds it back to the UITabBarController again. But this does not feel like the right way to go. Thanks in advance. Best regards //Abeansits

  • GKSession sendDataToAllPeers getting invalid parameter

    - by cb4
This is my first post and I wanted to start it by thanking the many stackoverflow contributors who will never know how much they helped me out these past several days as I worked to complete my first iOS app. I am indebted to them and to this site for giving them a place to post. To 'pay off' some of that debt, I hope this will help others as I have been helped... So, my app uses the GKPeerPickerController to make a connection to a 2nd device. Once connected, the devices can send text messages to each other. The receiving peer has the message displayed in a UIAlertView. Everything was working fine. Then I decided to experiment with locations and added code to get the current location. I convert it into latitude & longitude in degrees, minutes, and seconds and put them into one NSString. I added a button to my storyboard called 'Send Location' which, when tapped, sends the location to the connected peer. This is where I ran into the problem. Both the send text and send location methods call the sendPacket method with a NSString. sendPacket converts the string to NSData and calls sendDataToAllPeers. When I learned how to capture the error, it was "Invalid parameter for - sendDataToAllPeers:withDataMode:error:". [.....pause.....] Well, this was going to be a question but in writing all this to explain the problem, the answer just dawned on me. Did a few tests and verified it now works. The issue was not in sendDataToAllPeers, it was in the conversion of the NSString (strToSend) to NSData: packet = [strToSend dataUsingEncoding:NSASCIIStringEncoding]; Specifically, it was the degree sign character (little circle, ASCII 176). NSASCIIStringEncoding only includes ASCII characters up to 127 so don't use any above that. I'm sure there was a quicker way to find the problem, but I don't know Objective-C or Xcode's debugging facility well enough yet. Whew! Several hours to discover that little tidbit. I did learn a lot, though, and that's always a good thing!

  • Accordion table cell - How to dynamically expand/contract uitableviewcell?

    - by s.newave
Hi, I am trying create an accordion type of uitableviewcell that, when the user selects the cell, it expands to display a detailed info view inline similar to how the digg app works. I initially tried replacing the current tablecell with a customcell in cellForRowAtIndex however the animation looks a bit choppy as you can see the cell being replaced and overall the effect doesnt work to well. If you look at the digg app and others who have done this it seems that they arent replacing the current cell but instead perhaps adding a subview to the cell? The original cell however doesnt seem to animate at all and only the new view accordions into the table. Does anyone have any ideas how to accomplish a similar effect?

  • Tabbar App with Paging between tabs.

    - by user558076
Hi everyone, I've been struggling for about four days now trying to figure out how to implement the functionality I need. Basically I want to make a tabbar app that you can swipe back and forth between the tabs. Say I have 4 tabs. Would it make any sense just to create a scrollview that's 4 times as wide as the device, and load up 4 individual views side by side? Then I could use the tabbar delegate to simple tell which page to make visible? I could also use itemSelected to update the tab itself if a user swipes to a new page. does this make sense / is it a good idea? I just need a quick yes or no answer before I spend another whole day pursuing something doomed to failure. Thank you very much for your help...
