  • Static member variable containing object instances

    I have the following: function Preferences() { } Preferences.players = { 'player1': new Player() } players is a static member variable of Preferences and I'm trying to make it an object containing an instance of a Player. However, it doesn't appear to let me do this. It seems like it will allow me to define players if I make it a non-static member variable however. Like so: function Preferences() { var players = { 'player1' : new Player() } } Is it possible to create a static member variable containing instances of an object in JS?

  • What is this weird script I found on facebook?

    Not so much a question to help my own programming, but I found this page on facebook with a cool illusion and a page that says "to see the real illusion, copy and paste this code into your address bar" and there is a script: http://pastebin.com/LQUVQ8hm What the hell is this? What would happen if I put it in my address bar, which I assume would be a very unwise idea? I am confused.

  • JQuery: After adding some AJAX, some of the jquery code no longer works

    Here's a pastebin link to my entire jQuery code. [ http://pastebin.com/w57ma5Gx ] The "Thumbnails" section was working fine before I added the ajax sections. Anyone can help me with why it quit working? And if I need to I can post another question but figured I'd try it here first. Whats a better way of writing the ajax code where it executes once upon loading the page and then every time I click the $("a#next") link afterwards? Right now I just repasted the code outside of the next link and that works, but seems silly to have the same code in two different places like that. Thanks!

  • meaning of (\/?) in regex / is (\w+)([^>]*?) a redundancy?

    this regular expression should match an html start tag, I think. var results = html.match(/<(\/?)(\w+)([^>]*?)>/); I see it should first capture the <, but then I am confused what this capture (\/?) accomplishes. Am I correct in reasoning that the ([^>]*?)> searches for every character except > = 0 times? If so, why is the (\w+) capture necessary? Doesn't it fall within the purview of [^>]*?

But Its giving me validation error for the Description after the postback. What possible causes?

    if I have 4 variables startTime; endTime; startMerid; endMerid; startMarid and endMarid are either going to be 'AM' or 'PM'. but startTime and endTime are going to be strings like 'dd:dd' so it may be start:12:30 PM and end:5:30 PM How can I validate that the end time is not before the start time?   • Calling multiple functions simultaneously with jquery.

    I want to loop through an object that contains functions which will execute one after another. My most ideal approach would be to have these chain somehow (ie. func2 waits for func1 and func3 waits for func2) but this needs to happen dynamically and the functions will all have different durations. I'm using jQuery so I thought that perhaps "queue()" may help but I haven't worked with it much. A main concern is to not add any scope/callbacks to the functions within the object. I'd rather somehow enclose them within a parent function to execute within the loop in order to create the callback/chaining. Here's an example of what I've got now, but dumbed down.     I'm trying to figure out how to rotate a single object on an html 5 canvas. For example: http://screencast.com/t/NTQ5M2E3Mzct - I want each one of those cards to be rotated at a different degree. So far, all I've seen are articles and examples that demonstrate ways to rotate the entire canvas. Right now, I'm guessing I'll have to rotate the canvas, draw an image, and then rotate the canvas back to it's original position before drawing the second image. If that's the case, then just let me know! I just have a feeling that there's another way. Anyone have any idea? Thanks in advance!

  • youtube api: display speaker statements like a caption

    I'm doing something similar to close caption but not exactly the same. I have a youtube video, and I want to display certain messages at specific points in the video. When the video loads, I pull entries from the database in the format time and sentence. For example, at 0:20 the speaker says "don't forget to write down my email that you see on the side" and I want to display the email on the side. At 0:50, he says "and I'll post my office hours" so I want to show those office hours at that time. How can I do this. The video itself is hosted on youtube, but is being displayed on a private website. The div where I want to display the messages is <div id="write">.
